I was a full believing, never doubting Mormon for 35 years and never had even 1 doubt on my “shelf” until mine broke with 1 thing in 2021 when I saw the image of Pres Nelson demonstrating how JS translated the BOM with his head in a hat looking at a rock. WHAT! I had never heard that in my entire life and I still can’t believe there are people who believe this stuff to be true. The Mormon church is a business. That is all. Keep up the good work my friend.

My testimony of the BofM actually became stronger after learning about Joseph Smith translating the Book of Mormon by looking at the stone in the hat. It is just made the more impossible that the Book of Mormon was brought about by anything other than the power of God.
If Joseph looked into the hat with his own stone, that is revelation. If he looked through the urim an thumim. Looking straight at the gold plates. That’s translation. The BOM was supposed to have been translated. So, which is it President Nelson? Translated? Or revelation?

I dare you to find someone who could come up with something like the BofM while dictating it while looking in a hat. Also, don't like your own comments, it isn't a good look.
I hope you get more and more reach on your videos/channel…I’m supporting the algorithm each time so more Mormons can hear the truth even if they don’t find faith in Jesus immediately after a faith deconstruction from Mormonism. I think it’s a good first step just to get out of the Mormon church as hard as that might be in many ways. And of course I hope they find Jesus in those additional steps after that…but everyone walks at different speeds. ❤
Another great vid, thank you. Pro tip to readers of scriptures or works of literature of any kind: highly specific prophesies that "come true" have an extremely high probability of being written or edited in after the fact (timeframe being claimed in the text). This is a perfect example. I have listened to interviews about the JST, time to go actually look up their paper and read it. Honestly, I am impressed that Wayment could publish the article in BYU Studies. And remain on the faculty. The undergrad who was his research asistant, Haley Wilson, lost her faith over this. Of course, once she had graduated she had a lot less to lose than a full faculty member whose paycheck and retirement depend on a commitment of faith.

It’s interesting that the discover of the dead sea scrolls and millions of copies of the New Testament that back each other and the discovery of understanding Egyptian , disproves JS. It’s like even God is calling out JS.

The question that should be asked is not what does Joseph say about the translation of the Bible, but how in the world did Joseph Smith get his hands on any ancient manuscripts of the Bible to do his own translation.
Also considering the additional text added onto Genesis 50, we know that the Hebrew scribes were extremely careful about their methods of copying the scriptures. They would actually count the characters on each line as count the characters after copying each line and if the numbers didn’t match they would start over from the beginning. We see this in the Dead Sea Scrolls and the recently published accounts of the Book of Leviticus being X-ray and rolled out via computer scanning. For the 12 verses to be removed would require both Christians and Jewish text to be altered, which means that the Rabbis would have to be in agreement with the Christian monks who copied the Bible in the 1st through 13th centuries. That of course wasn’t possible as there was open hostility between Jews and Christians throughout the history of the Church.

Enjoyed listening to your thoughts I know it’s not an easy path and they will be gunning for you, but stand strong keep asking questions. If John the Baptist could ask Jesus if He was the real deal we should be able to ask church leaders for honest answers.
I can understand how someone born into a devout LDS family can accept the church's claims as true, much as I grew up accepting (but frequently in trouble for questioning) most of Christianity based upon my remote, rural Baptist church upbringing. Even though I have many TBM LDS friends & will always defend them against cruel ridicule, every single one gets uncomfortable discussing certain LDS beliefs. I think on some level, they know some of it defies credulity.
When I was in seminary and saw JS had written himself into genesis I knew it was “silly” but I still knew with every fiber of my being that JS was a true prophet of god. I put all that crap in cardboard boxes in the damp basement. It took way too many years to get down there and throw it out.
Happy for you. My actual basement needs cleaning too 😂😂 The last verse in the JST book of Genesis is probably the only red flag one needs, but there are so many more as you know. I’m glad that was meaningful for you, many others may not even be aware JS did that.
As an exmormon I find it intriguing that the missionaries quote John 1:1-5 in the KJV but not John 1:1-5 in the "corrected" JST. It's also intriguing that the church doesn't use the parts that are finished.
It's because the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints owns the copyright to the "corrected bible." And we also want common ground to teach the investigators so we use the KJV.
I have no issue with throwing out the church as Joseph nor his church survived. I find it interesting that people immediately jump with two feet on Joseph and are not inquisitive about what really occurred with Brigham and his boys from the day he entered, especially from Kirkland on. That is like throwing out the whole Bible since robbers and thieves took out the original 12 and put in Paul and church fathers. The early church of the way did not even pass the year 100 without a coup. The Book of Mormon and Bible have to stand on their own. I don't believe in any church but the books have great value.
Do you think it wise to jump straight to plagiarism? Is it not possible that they somewhat align because they we're both inspired with truth? I personally believe Joseph's character to be far above this. He already had a large following and had no need to fluff anything. I believe his "jst" is an honest offering of inspired clarification. All from an uneducated young man who grew up in a farming family. There's definitely something to this, and I'm absolutely not convinced this is a work of deception. If you go to a library , you’ll find countless of inspired books written by uneducated authors, a lot with maps, made up languages and styles etc. I don’t know why members think it’s impossible for Smith to write a book. He was educated maybe not in a formal way maybe but clearly he was clever. Many dyslexics , uneducated people build unique things, companies, inventions even write great books, so why is Smith put on a pedestal? It was a known belief at the time that the natives were a lost tribe. It’s a very pro American book as it would have been in early American history. Smiths own mother wrote that Joseph would tell stories as a kid about the Book of Mormon, years before writing it. Many LDS scholars even agree the Book of Mormon is 19th century literature. The Hebrew and chiasmus are not unique to smiths style, it’s proven many authors make the same style but that’s glossed over by LDS apologetics. Dead Sea scrolls have nothing about JST, it’s actually a testament how good the record keeping was. Scholars now know how to read Egyptian , proving Smith knew nothing about the papyri. He made it up. I wouldn’t say he plagiarised but he was inspired by stories. I’ll even admit that some of it is good, but it doesn’t mean it’s from God. Historical records prove he was a failed treasure digger for hire and conning people, long before forming a church, then he found gold plates- convenient.
