Gibbons and Orangutans are like polar opposites
    - small vs. big
    - fast and agile vs. while agile very lumbering due to its size
    - active vs. calm
    - spontaneous vs. thoughtful and premeditating
    - loud noisy vs. while occasionally loud usually calm and quiet
It's like seeing hyperactive kid vs. old philosopher who knows everything

Denying that humans "are a problem" is being ignorant to the harm we have done and are doing to our environment. When we destroy animal habitats, we are also hurting ourselves in a way because plants and animals help maintain the soil, water, and air quality that we depend on. I'm no biologist, but I know that animals are important for maintaining our ecosystem.

FRIENDLYMEXICANBOY The only reason orangutans are endangered is because of deforestation due to man, not from getting "ripped apart and eaten alive". 1. Orangutans are incredibly strong. 2. They're smart enough to know they are trapped in a box. No matter how you spin it a tiny box will never compare to the forests of Indonesia.

How blinded can one be? The only reason to keep Animals in Zoos is to save them from HUMANITY which destroys their environment and lifes. Please go to the doctor because to think this animals must be saved from being eaten alive in the nature is just......ridiculous.
They must be saved from humanity not from the wild live were they BELONG to!!! ZOOs are made to entertain western idiots! if they are not save in their home area they must be carried into a saved national park with many hectares!!!!!

to be fair, the gibbons are much smaller, so the space is much bigger for them I think, and I don't think they are as easily bored. I think Orangs just need to be mentally stimulated as much as possible so they aren't bored. The female Orangs at my zoo never really seem bored, except for one of the males whenever they take his access to the high ropes away. I know Rocky gets bummed because he can't go up, around, and eat grass. Charlie likes space. He has his own yard most of the time with access to grass, but he could do with some more. Some of them like to people watch. Rocky gets excited when he sees tattoos, and Knobi likes magazines.
