First time operating my Caterpillar D4H Dozer

- After taking delivery of the 'new' dozer this morning, I test it out on a project that I just started. For a lot of folks out there, this machine is either too small or too large. However, I think it'll be just the size for the projects that I take on. When I say 'large volume' in the video, it is relative. One thing I learned quickly after dozing near the woodline, a set of sweeps, or a cage is a must if your in the woods. The branches were wreaking havoc on my head!! That reinforced my preference for an excavator when dealing with trees! My 941 would be a lot easier to operate if it had a decelerator pedal like this machine does. All in all, I like it and look forward to putting it to work on a few of the projects I have currently going on and, hopefully, will start later this year.
i got to run a D-4 brand new back in the lte 80's to early 90's. such a great machine for fine grading it was -have fun with it.

I HAVE D4H , 3406 ENGINE , L G P , WHEN I GOT IT HAVE 2 > CRACK SPOCK WAS NO BIG DEAL THIS MACHINE I WOULD NOT TRADE AT ALL , BEST MACHINE I EVERY HAVE LET
Very tidy looking machine. Sounds good as well. It should last you for many years to come..
Once you get use to the controls you will be able to a lot with that dozer. I know some one who had like, he used that one for years. And it’s still going good.

Yes, this is a good solid machine. I’m very happy with it. These were issued downrange. So, I’m good...
Dozer is the way to go you’ll find that you won’t want anything to do with a loader again
g,day from australia Thats a real sweet little D4H she runs real good , you might want some front sweep bars to save the exhust form being bent up from the branches etc ,Also a Tre spear on the front of blade would be handySteve Benfienals use it on his Channel on youtube cheers...
I’m definitely looking into sweeps! Not ready for a tree spear yet.
My dad used to clear trees with a dozer and everybody said he look like a bull in a China closet

Horror excuse for first time operator needs to go with watch some video maybe figure out how to run the machine just a hell of an excuse for even being a first time operator I feel sorry for him
