Hey buddy nice D4. A few things that might help you save some money and time… Those track pads don’t look bad at all. You said some of them are bent, or damaged, maybe that’s your reason for changing them but if it’s just a personal dozer, they’ll probably last a long time. You’re correct, the sprockets are just fine. I heard a lot of squeaking when you moved it. You could possibly have a locked up bottom roller or failing idler. Or, the more likely culprit is the track chain. It looks like you have a SALT chain. That’s a Sealed And Lubricated Track. There’s oil in between the pin and the bushing and plastic plugs along the outside of the pins that holds it in. If those start leaking, the pins will start squeaking and eventually seize up. When it comes to undercarriage parts, aftermarket is always cheaper. It doesn’t last as long, but aftermarket is probably 1/3 of the price and CAT parts don’t last 3 times as long. We have Tractor Tracs and ITR in my area, idk about your area. I can’t speak on the steering clutch issue; I’ve never worked on anything that old. Good luck with your new dozer.

Good dozer, never saw one with that style blade on a D4 tho. Sprockets look fine, its the pins u wanna look at. Make sure they get the grease fittings working for pivot axle mid machine, inside tracks. Nobody ever greases them. I didn't think anybody wanted 953 or 63s anymore, they are antiquated and they suck to work on
