    • @VToldsMotoShow
      @VToldsMotoShow  3 роки тому +2

      Yes, I do. I just don't believe they would be true for a normal user during normal driving. During my driving it rocketed to around 10-12 liters per 100 km in the city. But I was pushing the car a lot and had many stops with an engine running. I'd expect it to normally be rather between 6-9 liters depending on driving conditions and style in the city. If you brake slowly, you will recover more energy that you will be able to use for driving later, so here you can get a lot more than in a normal car if you try to. If you don't try and instead race with everybody, gains will not be that significant.

    Great review ! Just two questions please if i may.....would you go for this ahead of the BMW 330e ? And does the Merc electric engine re charge itself during driving ( eg. if you stay in petrol mode ), so that you could have full electric charge say after a medium/long journey as the 330e does ?

    • @VToldsMotoShow
      @VToldsMotoShow  3 роки тому +1

      Thanks. So you're asking me for my personal opinion and comparing to BMW 330e, I would go for a BMW as it's a car from a higher segment. Just as I would go for a MB C-Class if I had to choose between it and a BMW 1 or 2-Series. The CLA's engine does recharge the battery when you're driving and also gets the power back when you're braking. However, it's not that super efficient here in this car. I've seen cars that do it better.

    How is car doing consumption wise in long trips? Normally I drive 6000km to my home country and back, wondering if this car can handle that and a cost efficie nt way... most of the figures I found online are avereged values per 100km which are not necessarily accurate for long trips

    • @VToldsMotoShow
      @VToldsMotoShow  3 роки тому

      I wish I could give you a reliable answer but I drove much less than 6000 km and mostly in the city. I believe that this is not the best solution for longer rides as it has a small petrol engine that will want its fuel and there won't be many benefits of a hybrid powertrain. It's not that efficient and successful in recharging its batteries. For such trips, nothing will beat a diesel - I mean driving on a highway. And you're right that a measurement of consumption per 100 km will mean nothing to you as it assumes 100% charged battery, so only whatever is left will be covered in majority on petrol.

    What mpg did you manage to get during the review ?

    • @VToldsMotoShow
      @VToldsMotoShow  3 роки тому

      I ended up with around 23,5 MPG (10 liters per 100 km). However this was driving very aggressively, mostly after using all electricity and also with longer time periods of standing in a few spots with an engine running and heating on. So that's an answer which in fact doesn't really help. Finally, I just could not check that during my days with the car as I've spent limited with it. Note that I also tested its performance (see the video in the link) and that "slightly" affected fuel economy results.

    This might seem like a very silly question but im currently in the process of ordering a car and I'm between this and a model 3 long range, I think my concern with the model 3 is range anxiety, I guess what I'm asking is which would you pick (price difference doesn't matter so much as it is a company lease vehicle)

    • @VToldsMotoShow
      @VToldsMotoShow  2 роки тому +1

      Nice to have such a choice! But I understand your concerns so the real question would be how big of an issue the range anxiety may be in your case. In other words - this strictly depends on where you live (and perhaps whether it's a house with a charging station or an apartment with/without a charging station; or you're regularly going to your office and would charge the car there) and how much you drive. If not for the range anxiety, I'd definitely go for the Tesla even without having driven it, as it's more fancy, performance of the Model 3 is fantastic regardless of a version and it's likely going to be more fun overall. On the other hand, interior quality will probably be so much nicer in the Mercedes. Design-wise, it looks so much better than Tesla inside too. The performance isn't that impressive though. However, with the Benz you don't need to care about range anxiety. Now if you don't plug and charge it, it won't give you a lot of benefits of driving on electricity I believe. It's not that good at charging itself back (if you care about it since it's a company car). I'd say if not for the range anxiety, I'd definitely go for the Tesla, so if you're having a preference for Tesla, we are basically in the same spot looking at this matter.

    • @dombaker_
      @dombaker_ 2 роки тому

      @@VToldsMotoShow brilliant response, thanks for taking the time to give such a detailed answer, I think due to having a 7kw charger installed at my home the Tesla is the winner and in reality my journeys are always sub 300 mile round trips so shouldn't have much issue with the range, I think that initial jump to full electric is just a bit daunting to begin with but I'm sure I will love the car once it is delivered!

      New rules I guess. But seriously, simply when working together, some of the power is delivered to other things that performance. I just don't know which engine produces less power then, my guess would be that the electric one. Especially that there may be a situation when we drain the battery and it should not happen that we're suddenly left with only 160 HP while being used to more - let's say during overtaking. So I believe that some power is always stored in the batteries even when it shows that there's 0% charge left. That's why it won't ever use it perhaps.

    It annoys me that one can have hybrid or 4matic, but not both together.

      There may be some logic behind it though in terms of getting rid of the features that lower the efficiency. All wheel drive being one of such features in cars.

      I am driving the A250e since one year. Have done 15000 km so far. Even when I am pushing hard at full speed on german Autobahn it hardly consumes more than 9l/100km
