I've been building hp engines for 35 years, everything from stock 300hp small blocks to 600hp 3 cylinder can am utv engine to 1500hp blown hemi, 5.2 fords and and big block chevys, this man knows his stuff and does very nice work. He does everything properly.
I agree brother, engine's are engine's. There all the same once you know what your doing/ looking for. Refreshing to see some one doing things right instead of bodging a fix or cutting corners 👌
The smile on his face when the engine starts explains why he is good and why he does this. If you have never built a engine you will never understand the feeling of when it starts.
I have learned that the 5.2 blocks hold more power with the correct internals that the 5.0 as long as you us good hardware and line to line coating on the pistons it adds protection to the rings along with the skirts, haven't blown one up since I started getting my pistons coated
Was wondering about reparability on those plasma line cylinders. Kinda sucks that you can't fix them regardless of the benefits this lining gave the gen3.
Great work, brings back memories of me building american pushrod V8's from 30 years ago. Your Stage 1 tune on my Bullitt made a hell of a difference, drives real nice now...headers are next.
good choice of dropping that compression to 11, we don't have the fuel for 12:1 compression, pretty nasty running that with boosted application and only pump 11:1 11-12lbs of boost is just around 720-730hp and if you want to go crazy e85 and 16lbs of boost and spicey timing
6 bolt mains..... loving the engine build vids fellas. Great to see some really good professionalism and pride in your work. Really miss doing engine building myself. Would like to see something like a gen 3 with pred/voodoo heads, pred cams to suit gen 2 cam phaser build done for the 15-17 build, if possible. Or some technical breakdown on what can be lego'd together for these engines. Even stroker builds as there just aren't anything shown for these kind of builds. Gen 2 guys don't have many options. I'd also like to see if a Gen 4 is able to be dropped into the 15-17 S550 and made to work with the new FP crate engine program? Obviously this would have to be something to discuss with a customer.
Good to know about the plasma coating. Can’t hone. Replace block. The cheapest car to power up is expensive to fix / replace 😱 I can already foresee these being lesser priced when sc.
Can see from looking at the motor that there was no vent to atmosphere on the passenger side. He should have had a catch can that vented. Without, ringland failure is normal at that power level.
A piston can only handle so much cylinder pressure, the timing of when max cylinder pressure happens is very important. I would start by saying this engine had to much ignition timing around peak torque on the powerband.
Look at the very first clip when the motor was out. The passenger side didn't have a vent to atmosphere oil catch can. If it didn't have one on the driver's, could be the reason why there was multiple ringland failure. Can't make this power and shove boost back into the engine, needs to vent.
Not if you want a 1000hp mustang… you would have to buy a new mustang and build it to 1k why when you can just build the one you have since you already have a mustang like this guy does…
@@TVRKing I have a Gen3 Whipple Thanos just hit 877Whp which is about 1k crank. All stock block heads cams they handle it fine, keep your tune and Octane correct watch IAT and all sensors your as good as built, trust me I already did on different engines like my 5.4 & 5.8 gt500 mod engines with Molnar rods diamond piston, all arp all bullet timing and gears also did Manley Rods Pistons forged , Gen 3 has cast pistons but Gen3 is stout! Now if you 1200-1500-1800 may wanna go billet rods etc
Your camera man needs to show the damage, a quick flash of the cylinder wall isn't enough. I love the channel but want to get the full experience not just the narrative. PLEASE
Also even one that's been in the know on coyotes . Know tgst a proper sleeved lock is ALOT better and STRONGER then and stock for performance unaltered block Sad really.
you can not get a reliable street driven 1000hp road car from a stock factory block and components. AND who needs this stupid numbers, Its the sort of things ONLY men talk about after a few drinks. Take the vehicle to a drag strip or any race track and and thats where numbers dont matter.

Ive been chasing women way waaaaaay longer than that........... it doesn't mean im any good at it though.....
as a tech for 40 years I totally agree with you. I actually enjoy watching his vids even though he doesnt speak proper english LOL (joking)
nice job......That was a lot of work and I'm glad he got it fixed instead of junking it.
Bigger and better! 😎

I caught a glimpse of that "Greta Hates This" sticker. 🤣 Nice video. 👍
I build my own motors and your pre prep work is outstanding Sir
Amazing technical knowledge base! So young but so knowledgeable, well done Sir! a true professional.

Thankfully the Ford Performance engine blocks are not too expensive.
@@MotorsportPerformance Get them while you can.

What was the reason of piston rings failure in the old engine? Was it possible to save the old block by putting some sleeves in?
i wonder what codes the car was throwing out for the check engine light
Miss-fire
Would you guys do k20 Type R swap from a Ep3 into a Civic eg hatchback?

i missed the beginning... did cylinders get sprayed or lined after honing?
We replaced the engine block with a brand new Ford Performance one. New pistons, new rods etc 😎

Absolutely brilliant!
was there any warning like smoke or anything before it was brought in?
From what I remember he said the owner only said the car just didnt feel right and was getting lights flashed on his dash so he brought it in
Engine Warning Light (EML)
Great video
Thank you!
I’ve got a question. What do you guys believe caused the pistons to break like that?
Any idea what headers those were ?
great video sir
Thank you!
why is the steering wheel on the wrong side?

Thank goodness for UA-cam hotrodders. You guys do crazy shit and blow up your engines so we don't have to. Keep up the good work.
Thank you! 😎
Wow . . Impressive. Ball Park cost???
Most likely close to 8k
Around £11k 😎
Did the piston rings overlap and crack
That's what I'm thinking. If the rings had been re-gapped before boost I doubt the ring lands would've failed.
How old is the motor? What occurred that made it happen?

Song from the intro?
(Epidemic Sounds)
Too much right foot?
Not enough 😉
Be careful when doing your final torque on anything, you never want to hold the end or head of the torque wrench as this can change the reading.
Cheaper to buy a new Mustang than rebuild x labor & parts cost
Agree especially a short block Gen3 can handle that power for as long as any built outside of billet built

Sad really.
Blown engine after only 15k miles, what on earths going on there?
Most likely because of no upgraded positive crankcase ventilation, with that increased power from the Whipple.
Arh ok didn't realise it was already a supercharged engine.
It's called boost and sending it

I've never built an engine. I get people to do it for me. Engines are boring.
Oooookay? 😅
Lmao .over size and sleeve that block. Complete wast of money and a good block.
Lol
There are thousands of proven cases on yt
ye corse … except look at the cost to sleeve the existing block vs the price of a new one
@@bendunn2727
In the end. The newly sleeve block will be much much better over all . Its not 2g to sleeve a block
