Liah Yoo 리아유 check out Baobab oil. It was a game changer for me!! Reduced my redness, inflammation, irritation, etc. Initially added a few drops into my DIY toner (equal parts aloe vera and witch hazel thayers) and I saw a difference immediately so I started adding 1-2 drops into my night moisturizer and it was MAGIC! I literally screamed looking in the mirror the next day to see the difference in my face

ever since i found liah's channel and followed her advice, my skin just changed drastically. i used to have extremely oily and acne-prone skin. now my skin is normal and i only break out around my period. i've skipped cleansing in the morning, used rosehip seed oil to moisturize, double cleansed after using makeup, used my spin brush ONLY when i needed to, and only used one active ingredient at a time. i realized my skin was just severely dehydrated and felt suffocated from all the products i was using at once. simplicity IS key! thank you liah :)

Since I only recently got started on skincare, Ihave a very basic routine: cleanse, tone and moisturize in the evening and usually, sunscreen in the morning. I don't really have the money to buy serums, actives all at once. I wanted to add an active for hyperpigmentation later on but now I realize I don't have to. I decided I'd just be patient with my skin and let it repair itself. Afterall, a few dark spots here and there never really hurt anybody and I shouldn't be so pressured to have perfect skin. Thanks for all the tips!! They helped both my skin and my wallet :)

I tried the Korean 10 step routine. It's was far too much for my skin. I felt more congested and broke out. I've gone back to a simple few step routine so double cleanse, one active serum per night depending on what I need and a moisturiser. In the morning I just wipe with a warm cloth, Hydrating serum and moisturiser then spf. My skin is doing amazing now.

I just changed back to a basic skin care routine after going a bit crazy for a few weeks with actives trying to get rid of closed comedones. They started clearing up immediately once I focused on a minimal, hydrating routine that respected my skin barrier. Our skin is so much smarter than we credit it to be.
Also tamanu oil and niacinamide are amazing. Thank you for introducing them to me :D

    • @halloweensocks2953

Courtney Hendrickson what are you using? I'm going through the same thing. Went crazy applying all the products my skin wasn't used to, and then I got advice on Reddit that it could be making my skin worse and I should stick to a minimal routine. I've been literally just using micellar water, CeraVe facial wash, my spin for perfect skin brush, my La Rosche Posay Toleraine moisturizer and tea tree oil as a spot treatment on active acne. I see no improvement/:

    • @courtney8923
      @courtney8923 7 років тому +7

I’m sorry you’re not seeing any results with your new skincare. I know it can be frustrating. I went crazy with AHA/BHA trying to get rid of some comedones and only succeeded in damaging my skin barrier. Once I cut back on the actives they started disappearing within a few days.
In the morning I wash with water and apply the La Roche-Posay Toleriane Double Repair Moisturizer UV. At night I double cleanse with the Hada Labo Gokujun Cleansing Oil and the LRP Toleriane Hydrating Gentle Cleanser. Afterwards I follow with the LRP Double Repair Moisturizer with a few drops of rosehip oil. I’ve also been using tamanu oil on acne and acne scars.
I hope you find something that works and wish you good skin days ahead.

Trying to keep my skincare really simple and use gentle products, which helps, but yeah.. lesson learnt!

Since I came to your channel, almost two months ago, my skin have improve so much! I have a horrible break out, after a year of having nothing, and all was because I dryed and destroyed my skin barrier and I tried to solve with a moisturize that didn´t hydrated my skin. And I have to say, after watching your videos I came to the conclusion how sensitive my skin is.
I still use an acne treatment in one cheek and in my chin but I notice an great improvement in the other areas of my face just using Jojoba oil and a cicaplast cream as a moisturize. Before, I used to wash my face to two times at day with a cleanser but now with just one time in the night and just water in the morning make my skin feel a lot more relief and comfortable.
Now I change to a moisturize with sunscreen in it because some times I just forget to apply my sunscreen as an another step -.- Also, I cut out diary and try to take less sugar on my diet and I take maqui powder, that is high in antioxidants :)
Thanks Liah and still uploading more videos to help a lot more people!

I stopped drinking milk when i learnt this from an expert (sadly i can’t link the research cuz it’s not english) and besides having that much acne like i used to have, my body feels better than before. I love your videos Liah Yoo! For anyone else who are reading this comment, & if you have extremely sensitive skin like me, then I would briefly like to share my skin care. I'm of Indian origin living in U.S. and a lot of products were either drying out my skin or leaving my skin feeling oily or clogged which lead to irritation, dehydrated skin and acne ..and it was difficult to find the right balance. I researched into the advice (& ayurvedic products) my grandma would tell me and how her skin was always so perfect even in her old age & she never used any artificial modern day products (not that they are bad).
A lot of people don't quiet understand how to use certain thicker oils like coconut oil & caster oil versus lighter oils like rosehip, etc. When it comes to coconut/caster oil.. it has to be used more as a conditioner for the skin. In the morning, I apply either coconut/caster oil on my face and leave it on my skin for at least 30 mins (while I do other things during that time like studying or yoga). Then I take chick pea flour, mix with water to make a paste-like consistency, and gently rinse my face. It can also be replaced with 'Sikakai' (soapnut powder) which is an all natural herbal powder created by sundried soapnut fruit. It cleanses the skin while washing away the residue without stripping away the moisturizing property, as it locks in the hydration.
The skin instantly becomes hydrated just after the very first use.
Then there are lighter oils like argan oil, rosehip oil, etc, which we can leave it on the skin (that can be used as a moisturizer).
(of course I occasionally use a lot if other DIY methods from my grandma which involves all natural Ayurvedic ingredients like turmeric, tulsi, amla, etc.. which i won't get into now.) Sorry about the long comment.
I hope this can help anyone out there, who didn't know how to properly use coconut oil or caster oil ..if they used it like a leave-in moisturizer and experienced acne.

So I feel like every time I speak about my skin improving, it comes back to bite me in the butt but I'll just leave this here to help someone out! Ever since I stared using the Hemp seed oil, my skins' oiliness was evened out. Before, my face was super oily in certain parts like my t-zone or my cheeks but now it's not. It's a perfect balance. Two other things...probiotics and zinc. It could be different for everyone of course but taking both in the morning have helped me tremendously..and I have stubborn af acne!! I stoped taking them for 2 weeks to see what would happen....well, it wasn't pretty. Got back to normal in a matter of days after I started again! Worth a try yall! Thanks Liah for helping me on this path to better skin!!

Mithrilneth Elvenstone mmm dunno about that but it differs for everyone I guess? I never had problem mixing aha or bha with niacinamide but I usually apply Niacinamide first and wait for about 15mins before applying my aha/bha. I think it depends on the strength of your actives too...

Mithrilneth Elvenstone That's weird cause niacinamide is one of the ingredients in the Cosrx BHA blackhead power liquid shown in this video. I've never heard that those two don't mix.

Hello :) I love your videos.. Usually I never comment I just watch and give it a like.. But I just wanted to say that Ive learnt so much from your channel..first I wanna thank you for everything.. Second I have a question? Am from Algeria (it's in North Africa) in case u don't know where it's 😂.. Some products..most products that u use are not available and I just can't buy them because I don't have a credit card..i just wanted to know if u can do a review of basic products..Like Nuxe,Svr,Vichy, LA Roche posay,Garnier,cetaphil.. And the last thing is that I have acne prone skin..and based on my researchs I found out that I had a liver acne and a digestive acne so am treating this... So as skin care am using the cetaphil gentle cleanser.. And benzyl proxide 2,5% it's doing a really good job.. I have some scars and the skin is dry and it's peeling which is normal..but I don't know how to treat this.. Can I have ur opinion on it? Thanks a lot so much love from Algeria 💗💗💗💗

Hey Liah, I live in the Philippines so it's very hot and humid. Since last year, I've noticed that I have small bumps all over my face (especially my cheeks and chin area). The bumps are very very small, you can't see them if you're like 1 meter away from me, but if you look closely, I have very many of them (I didn't have any skincare routine, I just wash my face with water). To solve this, I am currently using a mild hydration cleanser (Celeteque Dermoscience Hydration Facial Wash with Natural Moisturizing Factor) and a moisturizer ( iWhite Korea Aqua Moisturizer). I've also tried applying Nature Republic's Aloe Vera gel and it seems like the bumps only increased in number (I think the aloe vera is "feeding" the bumps or something) so I stopped applying it on my face. I am very sad that this is the condition of my skin because I'm just 16 yo and my classmates have very smooth skin while I have very textured skin. Please help 😞😭💔

Hi LIAH!! came across your video and I've bought some ORDINARY products before watching this video. you said don't use too multiple products together, or else its just going to act as moisturizer..so I'm considered for buying the following products:
    Rosehip oil,
    Niacinemide(ZINC),
    Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate 10% -
    30ml Buffet serum,
    Tamanu oil.
I have acnes around the forehead and side of my face (i heard its 독소라인)and its gotten worse after drinking 해독주스. And I guess my face is more of 복합성 skin type since I do get a bit greasy and have lot of sebum coming out :( And also I have problem with red marks staying for a long time that's left after pimple.
Do you think you can help me out with how I should use those products between night and morning..Or is there other products that you can recommend..sorry hope its not too much to ask :D

So, after watching most of your videos from the past year or so, it seems that there are two main schools of thought on how to treat acne: 1) Dig out all the gloopy sebum and dead skin cells from our pores (possibly damaging the skin barrier), then replace them with skin care + moisturizers, or 2) rebuild the damaged skin barrier with skin care (while knowing that we could be trapping any lingering bacteria + gloopy sebum in our outer skin layers), and wait for our skin cells to naturally turn over and push off the old layers. Right now I'm using the second method (the "skincare diet" you suggested) after years of trying the first technique and having flip-flopping results. For 28 days, I'me cutting out all of my traditional disinfectant/BHA/retinoid treatments, and am instead focusing on hydration and moisturization. Let's see what kind of results I get...
I suppose it's ultimately about finding a balance between the two techniques. Do I have that right, Liah?

I now just have scars, no new acne, which are starting to fade from your great product buying advice so thank you. I finally feel comfortable in my skin.

I don't understand what you mean when you say that my "skin is so much capable already of doing everything that the active ingredients promise to do" - Liah, listen, my skin can't do shit. Also "tune in to your skin, listening to your skin, examining your skin everyday and night and try to work with you skin" - my skin is the biggest bitch on planet earth, if the tiniest thing happens that it doesn't like, it has a freaking panic attack. Also I don't know what my skin needs, I can't read my skin, I can do a certain thing for a couple of days and everything looks fine and then suddenly out of nowhere I'll wake up in the morning with three pimples - it's so frustrating. Honestly I just think my skin is spoiled rotten.

Robert Hall dont use anything. That means skincare doesn't work on you. Eat healthy food instead.
Also me: Sh*t. I like junkfood

Every time someone says that cave people did stuff and that you should follow what they did, I’d be like,
    Uhh...
Cavemen also died before age 30.

I try to minimize my routine with cleanser, essence, serum and a moisturizer/spf in the mornings 🌱 and I use a bha essence once a week

Yes! First time I got introduced to korean skincare I just used alot of products on my face and I still broke out here and there. But cutting down to like 3 products has definitely helped alot > cleansing, mixing serum + hemp seed oil and that is it (sunscreen in day time). Now I am breaking out less !

I highly recommend the light water based moisturizer from La Roche posay for oily-combination skin type.

I just need to buy a new moisturiser and a sunscreen. I think i wanna change my cleanser since i don't think it suits my skin but ill use it just for now since im still suffering from post-acne marks. They are so stubborn to get rid of.
