Are Glass Mouse Feet Right For You? | Lethal Skates Review

  • Lethal Gaming Gear's new glass skates are a great option for those who want a change of pace from PTFE, but I am dubious of calling them the future of mouse skates. They feel far too unstable to be a universal recommendation and instead fill their own unique niche, much like a speed pad would.
    Nevertheless, they are still super fun to use and it's cool to see innovation. I can't wait to see what LGG has in store next.
    I might tweet sometimes, give me a follow :) KraftyCraftKraf

      That would be kinda sick. I saw someone make some custom felt feet on reddit and it actually looked cool. If they could have the same consistency as a glass pad but remove the scratchiness it would be incredible.

    those nails would go well with the upcoming yellow Vaxee mice! thank you for the detailed review. my experience with superglides (on otsu and eclipse) are inline with yours... where would you consider Cordura pads to be?

      Codura pads feel pretty close to the hybrid surfaces I talked about in the video because glass takes away some of the typical codura feel and makes them feel like a more consistent hybrid pad. I'm still not a fan of how codura surfaces feel on my arm but I would like to try a couple more with glass feet to see how they feel.

    I got glass skates and it was awesome for a week, smooth like a butter... but after a week I had some specific slow-down points in my Cordura mousepad, maybe related to humidity... which made me change back to PTFE.

    • @KraftyCraftKraf
      @KraftyCraftKraf  2 роки тому +2

      I think I still would. These skates do bring some of the great things about the skypad like those effortless small motions and a smooth glide while also removing the annoying stuff like scratching or a sticky surface, but they lack the consistency that makes glass pads so great. However, there is still something to be said about how glass skates can mimic the performance of glass pads while being more versatile. You can use them on slower and smoother pads to fit your own preferences which isn't an option with the skypad.

    I use an aluminum core with PVC mouse pad which is already super fast .. add to that I use 4400-6000 dpi. Currently I'm using 5400 dpi with my Logitech GPX Ultralight. I've been debating about glass for some time.
    What I don't understand is people want fast mouse skates but they use what I consider insanely slow mouse pads. It makes no sense?!

    • @peterahn8332
      @peterahn8332 Рік тому +1

      When it comes to fast skates on slow pads, it's more of a customization preference. You're balancing two extremes of a spectrum, and then you end up with a unique feeling. I used to believe that a fast skate on a slow pad is the exact inverse of a slow skate on a fast pad. I've found this to be false because it's multivariable. Every mouse pad can have varying static/dynamic friction, thickness, stacked foam/rubber layers, fabric material, and fabric weave pattern.
      Furthermore, skates have varying thicknesses (ranging from 0.5mm to 1.2mm). The thickness of the skate interacts with the "cushy-ness" of your mouse pad. By using a hard pad, you could remove this variable, because you can't slow the mouse by digging into the cushion. Let's not even dive into how each brand's "100% PTFE" skates are not actually 100% PTFE by composition. They have proprietary amounts of additives that change their characteristics. That's why Corepads, Tiger, Hyperglides, Superglides, etc. feel different from each other.
      The total surface area of the skates plays a huge role. For example, all Zowie mice have massive surface area of skates--1 massive skate at the front and 1 massive skate at the back. They tend to have higher static/dynamic friction because of the increased surface contact. As a contrast, Finalmouse have small surface area of skates--1 small skate in 4 corners. They tend to feel faster on average because of decreased surface contact. This means that a Zowie and Finalmouse can feel differently on the same exact mouse pad. There are so many confounding variables...
      I guess this is all very pretentious, like in the mechanical keyboard world, where people talk about "sound profiles" and "thockiness" in the same way that wine connoisseurs talk about flavor notes 🤔. "Wow, my 1.5mm thick keycaps are so different than my 1.2mm thick keycaps!" "Wow, this red wine begins with cherry, then develops into earthiness, and then ends with a nice finish of coffee." At the end of the day, it's just curiosity and experimentation in the pursuit of a hobby.

    Hey bro! I was wondering… I feel like these skates just feel better on speedier pads.. something like the strider that has a ton of texture, or the venus .. might just get me a venus to try this out. I still think ptfe is better for those slower pads.

    • @KraftyCraftKraf
      @KraftyCraftKraf  2 роки тому

      Yeah probably. Glass skates are a more natural fit for what faster pads are trying to be so they tend to feel better. Then ptfe retain the stability that slower pads do so well.

      Yeah for sure. This is a product by enthusiasts for enthusiasts.
      I'm not sure if you could remove them without any shattering. They seem pretty flimsy because the glass had to be very light to not add weight so it feels like they would snap if you flex them up. I can't quite be sure though, so if that's a big concern for you I'd recommend reaching out to their support.

      Venus feels to me like a Hien with a more balanced X and Y, with higher static and dynamic friction. Venus is about as if not more textured than the Hien, definitely not smooth feeling on the skin or mousefeet like the OTSU.
      My personal favorite pads right now are the Saturn, Eclipse, Zero, PA, Venus. For a hybrid speed pad to make it in my top 5 performing pads was a real surprise to me as I normally don't perform consistency well on these pads.
      The Venus can definitely be used for tac shooters if you take the time to get used to it, I ended up going back to the Saturn just because I felt a little more consistent with it.

It's a sorta slow pad with a good amount of dynamic friction but it doesn't have the stickiness common on a lot of cloth pads. I still categorized it with the other cloth pads on this list because it feels like it still has a high resistance on small motions and it starts to feel pretty similar to the other pads when you use glass skates.
