You forgot the Chicago chapter, you know. The same one that defeated a perfect computer and a near INDESTRUCTIBLE robot army and take control of the entire Midwest with unbeatable strength and technology.
They mentioned it in the video though??????
WhyDidIJustEatThat they mentioned its existence but unlike the rest of them neglected to describe the feats and notable actions
@@CompactCowboy Because they're not canon anymore
Gasp! 16** Yes, but we all know that Bethesda will never do anything with that because they are so damn obsessed with the east coast. So I don’t see a reason not to go in depth with what they did if they mention them in the video anyway.
wasn't tactics considered "Semi" cannon, with the main events remaining cannon but the issues with the lore cropped out?
I love how this dramatic story of wars and clashing of philosophy is always turned up side down by the "chosen one' or "vault dweller" or just some guy who got involved.

Doesn’t even Caesar say, some of the members of the Brotherhood they captured didn’t even know their founders name, *Maxson* ?
No way in hell the Legion is in what was once Illinois. To quote the Courier, “What’s a Chicago?”
The Faceless Gamer “may the likes of the many over come the likes of the few”
@@bee2bee880 the legion did capture Midwestern scribes, though it wasn't in Illinois, it was somewhere in/near the four states commonwealth. The fact that they haven't had many battles with the BoS indicates the scribes like came from a recon/scavenging squad of some sorts. It makes more sense than the Brotherhood having two chapters in the midwestern states/near them.
@@bee2bee880 People havent heard that word since the radioactive giant eggplant ate it, only 5 years after the war.
They're like baby Space Marines from 40K. With the dystopian environment and their reverence for technology
Sam Jackson to be fair, Space Marines aren't the ones that worship technology, that's the Adeptus Mechanicus. But a fair comparison
@@downrangecash2418 He said reverence. It's not everyday a marine gets to see an object from before the dark age of tech, and they have great respect for the Admech who fix and maintain those long lost relics. That's reverence baby!
Not as much reverence as the Brotherhood of Steel but granted they don't hump toasters like the admechs. So you got that one going for ya.
Adeptus Mechanicus
Doesn't matter "democracy is truth, communism is death", also "death is a preferable alternative to communism" and who could forget "democracy is non, negotiable", your argument is invalid
The Brotherhood of Steel is one of the coolest factions in a video game, very memorable. I really like their idea of taking dangerous technology so the horrors post-war fallout don't happen again and also bringing hope to a destroyed civilization. Steel be with you.
Execute this man
Damn cool. I especially like that you managed to intertwine the west coast, the mid western and the east coast chapter in the same story. Even before Fallout 4 was revealed I realized that the active approach of the Washington chapter under Lyons meant that they had stronger ties with local settlements, better propaganda, more recruits and their war with the enclave meant an enormous influx in technology and scrap parts. Advanced Power Armour MK. II, light plasma rifles, vertibirds, research documents and more.
This is the one thing that Fallout 4 did right. The Brotherhood is huge, well equipped and aggressive in their policies against the rest of the wasteland.
Agreed.
I honestly don't like the Brotherhood, but maybe that's because Fallout: New Vegas was the only game from Fallout series I've played so far.
Refering to your comment, I believe that there will eventually be some kind of literal civil war in the Brotherhood between isolationist and more benevolent chapters, that might even cause the wasteland to be plunged into nuclear winter once again.
Especially if "Immortal" is canon.
@@starhalv2427 every chapter is autonomous, their ideologies may mutated from chapter to chapter. imo Arthur's brotherhood is the most competent and may grow into the East Coast super power like the NCR of the west.
That would be cool in future (but given current state of the franchise I'm pessimistic) there will be conflict between west (NCR) and east (BoS) with legion caught in the middle.
@@starhalv2427 I actually found the Brotherhood in New Vegas to be the most palatable. The Elder there is at least capable of growing and changing his mind about dealing with the outside.
Also, to be clear the non isolationist chapters that pop up in Fallout 4 are not as benevolent as you might think. Their attitude seems noble but they're also vaguely authoritarian, and their leader has something akin to a cult of worship.
If anything I'd suggest that the best course seems to be a middle of the road approach, cautious and incremental sharing of technology and knowledge
@@AeneasGemini to be fair Maxwell is explicitly against the cult thing and tries to supres it
I do enjoy how the BOS symbol has gears that can't mesh according to basic mechanical engineering... very symbolic if ironic.

Jim Martin II if fallout 4 did 1 thing right it would definitely be making giant explosions look spectacular I mean when you blow up the Institute, when you blow up the Prydwen etc all amazing
Miami Gaming Hoodie nooo the fallout 3 bos were horribly written and just wasteful.
JaegarBager102 Nah they were cool. Lyons did this 180 turn regarding the BOS policies because he was mentally scarred by what happened in the Pitt, kinda like with Elder McNamara and what happened in Helios One
@@monkeman5895 yeah he did the exact opposite, he sent his men into the grinder, divided his men, willing bankrupted the BoS, turned it a damn charity for wastelander who could Care less. Elder Lyons was great reformer sure, but a military leader he put his chapter in the path of self destruction.
JaegarBager102 As opposed to sitting down in a bunker and waiting for fuck all to happen? Like shit at least he was proactive unlike the previous West Coast BOS

Imagine what what would happen if every single chapter of the brotherhood of steel united with all the tech and manpower they had at the time we see them. That would truly be a force to be reckoned with
Actually, it was mostly the Vault Dweller as the Brotherhood stayed on the surface while the Vault Dweller did the heavy lifting LOL
Uses the Term Chapter. Fanatical. Power Armor. Latin. Tottaly Not Space Marines Of The Fallout Universe. This guys are litteraly the Steel Confesors with a bit of Mentors in them

I would like to see a video on the institute
I would vote for this!
Something about the music used in these videos fit them.
There's not much to know.
+Joshua Perry maybe for you but it will surely be cool to have a video about the Institute and its moral dilemma.
Joshua Perry There’s actually a fair bit of lore about them - It’s just mostly in-between-the-lines kind of stuff.
I never liked how in Fallout 4 they switched the east coast brotherhood back to looking like its roots. I liked the change in Lyons’ chapter being a, albeit somewhat, beacon of hope in a depressing setting. I was even hoping that they would even clash with the original chapter and maybe a big civil war in a future game, but no we got more crazed extremist military guys instead of surprisingly good chilverous knights in power armor.
I agree, and Lyons was trying to prevent a literal super mutant apocalypse in the capitol wasteland, something in keeping with the tenents of the brotherhood, sure he had to make changes to recruitment and become closer to the people of the wasteland, but that was necessary to keep on top of the grinding war of attrition attempting to contain the super mutamt threat) and Arthur Maxim calls him a fool for it. He just comes off as an idiot.
Some of them could be good if they werent constantly drilled the flawed philosophy.
I was waiting for a video on the Brotherhood since you did one on the Enclave. You guys surely delivered!
There’s always something to look forward on Monday, a new Templin institute video
Took a long absence from the Templin Institute because I was obsessed with your videos. Good to see you all still working very hard!
I love it when you guys do fallout episodes
I think that Joshua Graham deserves a dossier
The Brotherhood is the only true hope to bring order & peace to a shattered world the world of Fallout has become.
Really? I've heard of another faction. Already built a society, supposed to be very big! The New California Republic
@theprofessor3684 imo the NCR is bound to repeat the mistakes of the pre war world, their leaders already have become imperialistic and often rather incompetent about it,give it time and their decline will become ever more evident unless they change course
@@sokratikas Well change is very possible! If there's anything that the NCR takes seriously, it's its democracy. Change could come very easily if the people decide so,,, That's more than we can say for the Brotherhood or God forbid, Ceacers Leigon
@theprofessor3684 actually, the brotherhood changes a lot from chapter to chapter. The east coast brotherhood under Arthur maxson is much closer to the og roger idea,as it balances helping the wasteland with keeping the dangerous stuff away from unprepared hands, and terminals in F4 show how Maxson instructed his vertibirds to protect all caravans that they come across in their territory, and actually trade with waste landers. The midwest chapter(ik their canonicity is in doubt but imma talk of em for the sake of argument) recruits ghouls, sentient death claws and more into their fold. The Mojave chapter under mcnamara can be reasoned with into helping during the second Bartle of hoover dam. And probably there are other examples we don't know of of the brotherhood chapters differing to one another.
@@sokratikas I'm more talking about Maxins brotherhood. And you do know what Bethesda based them of right?

I think why I like the BoS so much is due to their similarities with the Imperium of Mankind, or more specifically the Space Marines within said Imperium.

Great video, I've been hoping for a brotherhood of steel video from you guys, you always make great videos and for creating the brotherhood's video, you just got yourself a subscription
I really like the Brotherhood of Steel, but I feel like Bethesda uses them too much. Like, this lore here may be defunct by the time 76 comes out just because they want to shoehorn it in there.
They fucked it up already. mentioning them in 76 even so at that time, they are supposed to be still in that bunker.
I don't think they are gonna put the Brotherhood of Steel faction in Fallout 76, but of course there is going to be power armor.
Boy are you guys gonna be disappointed when you watch Fallout 76 gameplay videos...
They have BROKEN the Lore of the Brotherhood of Steel's History by putting them in Fallout 76 in West Virginia that takes place in 2102....Despite the fact in Lore they don't ever leave the bounds of California until AFTER the 2240's!
They FUCKED IT UP real good!
Find me a piece of evidence that they never left California at all, that they specifically stayed in their bunker and didn't do anything.
While I think it's lazy for them to use the Brotherhood for 76, if you actually look at the lore there isn't anything preventing them. Even the video above makes an assumption (that they spent the first decades establishing the brotherhood of steel). The Brotherhood is notorious for not keeping any records, only keeping a couple major events with positive outcomes in the records (and even then they're not accurate and religious rather than factual).
Between their founding in 2077, where they're a bunch of military dudes with their family, and 2135, where they're an isolationist and more radical group now calling themselves the Brotherhood of Steel, there's nothing. Not a peep, not even an unreliable narrator source. Failed expeditions could have been sent out, their records lost or purposely forgotten. I'd argue that failed expeditions would help lead them to their isolationist existence.
It also wouldn't even take them that long to get there really, even without aircraft. In Fallout 2 there's a lady from the Yukon, Canada (which is about as far away from California as the far east side of West Virginia).
I would love a midwestern brotherhood focussed fallout game, i wouldn’t even care if they copied most of the story from “tactics”
#midwestBoSisBestBoS

i love the brotherhood in fallout 4, everytime a vertibird falls out of the sky (cause raiders with pipe guns...) i get cool new guns and power armor parts to use and sell or scrap.
Due to the stunning similarities between the Adv. Mk. II power armour and the mid western one, I'd like to think that the chapter came over research documents or a full suit of X-01 experimental power armour and improved their old models considerably.
Thank you for the video, enjoyed it very much! :)
Hell Yes! I’ve been waiting for the BOS video! Nice job👍🏿
Brother of steel is the best faction change my mind
@@Svenne-man-1880 literally every faction thinks they're elite, but to answer your question. yes
If I'm being honest, I killed the BoS in New Vegas on my first play through after they killed some Followers of the Apocalypse, the friendliest faction in the Wastes
I love how I've played so much fallout I can name instantly every location shown...and know where the loot is at.
Works in chapters, Hates greenkskins, fanatical and have power armor. They might as well have two hearts.
"Ideological purity and shiny power armor don't count for much when you're outnumbered 15:1"--Robert House.
Thing is, 15:1 odds is what Power Armor was invented for. Land invasion in _China._
There's a major flaw in that logic, just look at the gulf War. Despite the Coalition not knowing the land and often being outnumbered, technological superiority and better tactics led to victory. Hell their casualties were only a few hundred, meanwhile there were tens of thousands of killed iraqi. Robert house is a great business man, but he doesn't know war.
Interesting statement. But I would like to counter that argument with a 9 iron hitting 60mph towards your face, Mr House.
This was such a nice and very eloquently done video. But is so hilarious how bethesda itself would put this lore aside for 76
It could be due to the time setting? FO76 is kinda a prequel it takes place a mere 20 years post nuke booms.

NCR has Vaultcity which has the 2nd most advanced medical technology in America behind the institute. The Brotherhood has a technological superiority when it comes to the Military. But realistically the NCR even without Vaultcity has several other vaults, bases, research institutes and former Enclave Scientist in its territory wich would surpass everything that the BOS has. And i dont need to explain why the institute has more technology in both quantity and quality.
Roger Maxson’s true vision of the Brotherhood of Steel was lost over the years because his own son twisted his vision by pushing them towards becoming techno-religious isolationists. Maxson wanted what Lyons and Rahmani wanted for the brotherhood.
What about Arthur Maxson?
In the world of fallout you need a bit of tough order the BOS offers. While we may get attached to synths like Danse, they make the tough decisions to clear the world of them and mutants so future generations won’t have to make those choices or live with the problems they’d cause. Go with the lovie dovie railroad and no one will respect you, institute is more evil. The next best bet would probably be NCR, but they’re a bit too similar to today’s world, they’re playing it too PC and nice for the world they’re in.
Don't make me laugh. 90% of the time, the BoS just harasses people over tech. Only Lyons' order was completely good, while the Outcasts provided a service due to them trading tech for goods. Arthur Maxson's BoS is basically Enclave light, and the West Coast BoS are raiders and slavers who kill people for tech and put bomb collars on unsuspecting innocents to force them to do the Brotherhood's bidding.
@@HolyknightVader999 the west coast saved humanity from the Master and Maxson possibly saved humanity from the Institute.
