Dude you saved us able to accomplish lowering the locked seat with nothing more then a flat head screwdriver thank you so much! If ever in Prescott Az hit us up we owe you a beer
You bet! Sounds like a plan 🙂
Dude, thanks a lot for the video, it was really helpful.
I bought a used 2018 Caravan, and both 2nd row seats failed on me, about 4 months after I bought it, and have been like that, for the past 6 months.
Thanks to you, now I can fix'em myself; you saved me a whole wad of cash.
Seriously, thanks a lot.
Greets, from México.
Nice work getting them fixed! Cheers
Thanks so much for adding the part on how to simply release the seat from underneath! I just bought this van for a business and won't be using the seats. One seat was stuck in the up position and I just needed to spring it to stow it away. Thanks for the help!!!
Glad it was helpful. Sometimes it's helpful to know how to bypass something until you can get it fixed. Cheers and thanks for your comment!
Thank you for your help repairing my stow away seat. I seems like it’s always the passenger side seat that fails..
Oddly enough it does seem so. Glad the video was helpful to you. Cheers!
Very helpful video thanks for making and sharing it!
You bet!
thank you this was very helpful
You are the best! All I wanted to know was how to get the seat to stow if stuck and you showed me that and how to fix it. I may or may not fix it because I don't need the seat. Thank you for showing this easy video that anyone can do.
Great I need exactly this thanks.
Glad it helped!
Thank You!!!
Glad it was helpful! Thank you!
you solved my problem.
Glad it helped!!!
Aprceate your support
Glad it was helpful! Thanks for your comment. Cheers
It’s a little bit tricky but I fixed it.
I had to remove the springs to be able to attach the cable and then put them back.
Thanks for the help!!!
Thanks for sharing your success. Glad the video helped! Cheers
Does this apply to 2012 town & country as well. I have same problem. Middle right passngr side!
Great question. It should as they are fairly similar. The part does fix a 2012 town and country according to Amazon and they are usually good about ensuring part fit.
I have a 2019 grand caravan would this work on that as well part number wise?
I'm not entirely sure. The part no says it fits only 2011-2018. Might be worth calling the dealer just to get the part number and then you can verify. I'm sure the process is similar but might be different lengths.
Thanks! That helped me out a bunch!!!!
Glad it did! Cheers
Do i have to get the kit with both cables or can i just get the one that needs replaced? Much cheaper to get the one i need instead of both
I was under the impression it was only sold as a kit but if you can get just the riser cable, then go for it!
How do you get the seat out of the floor in order to fix the cable? My sister's middle passenger seat has been stuck inside the floor for several months.
@3:35 I show how to lift the seat manually. If it still stick, try pushing the seat down and then lift the cable as it could just be stuck and need a little help releasing. You shouldn't need to fully remove the seat to replace the cable.
What year is this actual van, thanks!
I believe this was on a 2012
From where did you buy the new cable?
I put a link of the description to where you can get a replacement. Amazon, eBay, and other places.
Where r u located or can you do this on the side?
I’m no professional; I’m just a hobbyist 😊
Why won't the headrest fold down? I can get the seat to release from the floor but the headrest does not fold into the seat back...???
Likely a bad cable that connects the lever to the headrest
Any one have the part number for passenger side middle seat release cablea
MOPAR 68143770AB
What is the kit called
There is a link in the description to the kit but here it is in greater detail:
Left Side: Mopar 68143771AB Left Second Row Seat Riser Cable Chrysler Town and Country Dodge Caravan
Right Side: Mopar 68143770AB Right Second Row Seat Riser Cable Chrysler Town and Country Dodge Caravan
Do that go for 08 also
The part or the process?
Is this the same as the third row ? The small side the back wont stay up. And i need to pay someone to do. Who would do this? 2008
To be honest I don’t know. The mechanism is probably similar but not exactly the same part or same exact process.

I believe it’s the cable. It’s doing like this video.
Yep! Common problem on these vans
The bar under the seat for the manuel relase doesnt move 😭
Have you tried wiggling the seat up and down? It could but jammed in place.
I had the same issue, I used the small metal bar from my emergency jack to leverage it and cleared the jam, just be careful not to break anything.
Fyi. These are getting harder and harder to find. Dealerships say no longer available. So if you find any they are old stock and wont be replenished. Get em now while you still can. Very common failure on these stow n go seats
Indeed it is! And I agree. If you are financially able, I think it is a good idea to stock up at least on common maintenance parts if you do your own work (oil, filters, spark plugs, fluids) and even common failure parts (like this cable for Dodge vans or water pumps for Jeep GC WK2's). That way if you ever get in a jam, you can do your own service ASAP without waiting for parts.
It’s complicated for me I prefer to go to professional to fix it because lots of steps to do
That’s the nice thing about how to videos. You can see the whole process and decide if you’re comfortable doing it or want to have someone else do it. 🙂
Neither side works in the 2018 I brought home today. Horribly disappointed.
Did you buy it from a dealership? If so, make sure to have them fix it!
