So you’re stuck on the side of a road and need to access the spare by lying on the driver’s side of the car?? That has to be one of the worst designs I’ve seen in my life. Thank you for helping me to decide not to buy this car!
@angela_2653 are you Reeeeeeeeeeee!!! No sh*t hello the passenger meaning right side of the vehicle and safe side you could pull the tire out with out being on the driver side lying on the side of the road and by the way laying when you could just get on ur knees lol. Or just fine the nearest exit hahaha.
Thanks a bunch, I purchased a 2015 Town and Country just last week & asked the salesman the location of the spare. He had no clue and after some running around he came back to me & said that these minivans did not come with spare tires !!! I didn't believe him so I kneeled down and started from the back until I got to the driver's side underbelly & there it was, however, unfortunately, it was empty !!! So I showed the surprised & a little embarrassed salesman where the spare should have been & inquired if he could find one for my minivan, of course, with no luck !!! The console is the short one & much easier than the one you show, I guess I am lucker !!! Liked & subscribed.
I’m glad you could show him up! We sure love our van even though it has some weird quarks like the spare tire. When the thermostat goes out, check out my video on how to replace it. It will save you a bunch of money. Thanks for the support!
Definitely a really crazy spot to put a spare tire. after waiting 6 ours for triple-a to get a flat bed trailer to me on the side of a busy highway, I wish that i would have found your video. Now I know, thank you!
I have a 2010 T&C. I’ve owned it 3 years and have never seen the spare. I followed your instructions, which were crystal clear, and found my doughnut was good but very low on air. I’m good to go now! Thank you!
I'm glad to hear it could help! The manual isn't worth a hoot. Hopefully you never need it, but at least it will be ready in case. Stay safe out there and thanks for watching!
thanks man.i've been driving one for three years and could not find the turn down bolt. i looked for it a few times in the floor but could not locate it. did i pull out the drawer in the back? NO did i pull out all the useless clutter inside the sliding compartment? NO maybe that's why! thank you, great job.
Ur likable, funny & easy to understand. I was unable to find my manual for instructions & looks like I would’ve been confused anyway even if I did find it. I don’t know that I would’ve ever figured it out if it weren’t for videos like yours. Very appreciative that u even took time to go over the small things like how to drag the tire out.
Thanks for actually showing where the crank tool fits to wind the spare down. My 05 didn't have as large of a console but the 2017 has the fancy package like yours.
Thank you so much for this thorough video! I would never have figured out how to retrieve my spare from the instructions in the owners manual. Your step-by-step instructions with video were very easy to follow.
Thanks Carrie! The 1st time I had to change our tire, I looked at that manual and still was lost. I figured this video might be able to help others. Thanks for sharing and for watching!
Oh goodness, are we grateful for your video! Thank you so much for making this so easy to follow. We live in a part of the world where we seem to have to replace tires every few months, and I can't tell you how much your instructions helped!
I really appreciate it! I’m always happy to see folks be proactive and learn now instead of when they’re on the side of the road! Stay safe and thanks for watching!
I’ve had to do this a few times on both my old Dodge Grand Caravan, and my Town & Country. It’s a pain in the backside to say the least, so if you have problems with getting under the vehicle etc. just get a good roadside assistance service, and let them know how to do it as a lot of them don’t know how to do it. Great video 👍
It is not easy, especially on the side of the road! Having a good roadside service plan is a great idea. Hopefully you can limp the van off the side of the road and wait.
Thanks very much. I looked at this video after I was under my Dodge caravan and noticed I didn't even have a spare tire or carrier . Thanks a bunch. 😅 Now I have the challenge to FIND ONE.
I've got a 2015 T&C in the rust belt, it's now 9 years old, and I never needed the spare until a few days ago. I was able to lower the spare without much effort, but the spring loaded clips that release the spare from the plastic cover were rusted tight. After "soaking" the mechanism with Kroil penetrating oil for a few hours, the clips still wouldn't budge, so I took a hammer and chisel and gently chiseled the clips loose enough that I was then able to force them open to get the spare off. Once I did that, I used the Kroil again and worked the clips back and forth until the spring action worked. To *hopefully* keep this from rusting tight again, I sprayed lithium grease in and around the mechanism. I'll probably make this an annual maintenance task.

Great video. My grandmother bought her T&C new when my immediate family moved back to my hometown in 2013 and this is the first time it’s ever needed to be removed. I’m gonna be doing it at like 7am tomorrow in town where it made it to so it’ll be a pleasant experience. I saw some other comments where the spare was missing but I’m just simply hoping it’s not one of those things that comes in a certain package - the manual doesn’t say “if equipped” so…. Update: the tools were missing, the scissor jack (which I wasn’t gonna use anyways) and the Slime machine were in it but I couldn’t find the other tools. Tow truck it is
Thanks!! I recently bought a dodge grand caravan and wonder… where is the spare tire…..now because of your video I take a look and found it…. The compartment for the spare tire… in my case it didn’t coming the spare tire!!! But thank you very much!!
ABSOLUTELY AWESOME! We just bought a used 2016 Grand Caravan, and had no clue where the spare tire was! Turns out the tire tool, jack, spare tire and spare tire carrier were all missing - which we never would have known to look for, before we bought it!! You hit a home run for us - now it's off to the junkyard to find a replacement!
Thank you and I’m glad it could help. The manual was pretty much worthless. I’m happy you took the initiative to check before it was too late. Happy hunting and thanks for watching!
Okay oh my gosh. Never in my wildest dreams would I have ever thought that was where the stupid spare was!!!! But Chad you are amazing and you are a very good teacher! I could never thank you enough for this information. Thank you for helping this old woman!!! Happy New Year to you!
Thank you for the kind words LeAnne! I’m glad it could help you out. Who would have thought to look there? The manual wasn’t much help either. I appreciate your time and Happy 2023 to you!
Thank you for the video, i'm sitting here on a raining day in Michigan on a flat tire in my town and country saying aman. I seen the video after my daughter came to rescue me. Way 2 go Chrysler nice hinding spot for a spare😁😁.
Sorry that you had a flat and had to go on the treasure hunt for a spare! I was like you, had a flat and couldn’t even understand the manual. I was hoping this video could help folks out! Good luck and thanks for watching!
In April I got a flat on a gravel road going into Hot Springs, NC. I had this video downloaded on this trip and a couple of others just in case no cell service and needed to watch to walk me through the process. Turns out there was no T wrench in my minivan (I bought it used). Roadside was of no help since they couldn’t find anyone to come to this remote location. I tried calling places myself but most were closed and the one that could drive out didn’t have the T wrench (I’m guessing most wouldn’t too). The only gas station in town had no mechanic to fix a flat and there were no repair shops in this small town. Even the local police said AAA wouldn’t drive out (even if I had AAA). I was resigned to the fact I’m totally screwed! Roadside did update me every half hour but they still had no luck. After about 2 hours I decided to take matters in my own hands. Luckily there is an air compressor included in the tire repair kit. I filled up the tire and drove away. Asheville was about 35 miles away so I stopped every 5 miles or so to check on the tire and it was enough to get me to 3 small towns to use their air pumps. I had blown 2 of the 3 12v socket fuses using the included air compressor. I even bought that slime in a can but it didn’t work. I was able to get to a hotel knowing it would be totally flat by morning. So next morning sure enough it was flat but the handy air compressor did the trick to get me to drive to the Discount Tire store. (Online appointment said 2 days out). They said they could get me in right away so I just got 4 new tires and was happy to be out of that jam. Fast forward to today and I watched your video again and I’m going to get the spare brought down and make sure it’s pumped up. (Forgot to mention I did get a T wrench at a junkyard for free) Also bringing extra fuses along with a fuse puller since I’m leaving on another vacation in 2 days. Your video is very helpful. Haha have to include this….after I was in my hotel roadside called to say someone was on their way to Hot Springs. This was like 5 hours after I first spoke with them. Told them to cancel lol.
Was stuck on the side of the hwy last week. Your video helped me so much till my husband could come and swap the tires out for me! I had no clue where the knob was to turn to get the spare out 🤦♀️ lol Our old van didn't have a console, so it was easy to locate.... this new van we have DOES have a console so I was like 👀 where's it at?! Thanks so much!!
I appreciate the kind words Penny! Sorry you had a flat, but I’m glad the video helped out! It’s crazy how the design vehicles. Many times they don’t even come with a manual either. Thanks you for sharing and for watching!
Awesome! I’m glad you guys planned ahead just in case the flat ever happens. Enjoy the van! We love ours. Thanks for the kind words and thanks for watching!
thank you very much now I have my problem solved , I did not know how to put the answer to the same place , a friend changed the answer but I did not know how to put it in its place myself , thank you .
We just purchased a 2010 Grand Caravan and I'm trying to figure it out before the emergencies happen! We had to resort to a youtube video to see how to get the stow n go seats out of the floor. This video was VERY helpful! I'm wondering how to get that dragging spare-tire and carrier back in place. It can't be as simple (haha) as getting it out, can it? Thank you!
Thanks I saw other videos but they didn't have a center console.. Uhh when I saw your and where it access this trap for lowering the tire I actually swore. Seriously, couldn't they just figure out some way of adding it to the system menu to auto drop or something 🤦🏻♀️ I have a flat in my driveway.. Now I can change a tire and all but this is ridiculous. Thankfully I think my tire will hold air long enough to drive 7min to the tire shop. I have my portable air compressor and an extra vehicle following me.. And the lovely screw from a construction site nicely wedged in my tire.
Omg thank you soooooo much I’m at work and this video just appeared….I didn’t know I had a spear 😂😂😂😂😂😂 I thought they gave me the car without ☝🏾😂😂😂😂😂thank you
Excellently explained. Tell me Sir, my Chrysler Town & Country needs the last portion of the bottom small front strip on both sides. My dealer says he can't get these anywhere. Do you know where I can get these side end pieces at the bottom of the front doors?
Thank you for the kind words. I am not sure how close you are to salvage yards or a LKQ, but I get a lot of used parts there and from ebay for our Caravan.
I feel like snapping a pic or making a video of my wonderful van, a 2016 Grand Caravan. I recently had to use my jack on my van.. I am well aware of how and where to place the jack in order to lift the van, so you can imagine my amazement when the jack went through the bottom of my van. Not that bad, but I still have two holes where there shouldn't be any....... The jack has an odd shaped lifting plate, its got a notch to accommodate the lip you describe here in your video as being "reinforced". So, as I'm jacking up my van, in the proper placement, the jack went through the bottom and caught itself on that lip.. My lip is not that tall and is the reason for the jack going through the bottom.. Sucks!! All I did is cleaned the area with degreasers and applied a few coats of rubber undercoat with a brush in and around the new punchers to be sure that the unpainted metal that was now exposed didnt catch cancer aka rust... I am replacing that stupid screw jack with a nice bottle jack, it will fit in the same place as the crapy factory one but it'll be way more efficient at lifting without putting more holes in my undercarriage. Nice video!!
That stinks! Those scissor jacks are a such a pain! I don’t blame you for adding a bottle jack. Cheap insurance on the side of the road. Hope you never have to use it. Thanks for the support and for watching!
About 15 yrs ago I stopped and helped a lady change her tire on a Chrysler van and had to go thru this sillyness 😮 afterwards she didn't seem to appreciate my help a no thank you or nothing That was the Last time I stopped to help anyone.I think I may mount mine on the luggage rack on top of van as would be way easier to get down and monitor spare tire pressure also.
Well I'm glad to hear you did your best for her! Maybe she came around later in life:) I don't blame anyone for putting it in the back cargo area if they have room. It's such a poor design.
So you get burnt by 1 single person 🤔 and now your never helping people again? That's really your outlook on life...from how your sounding seems like maybe you didn't deserve a thank you.
So Chad, if your driver side front tire goes flat, will you have enough clearance for the tire to come out? Or must you first jack up that side to get the room to pull it out? Thank you for the great video. It absolutely will help me.
It would be super tight. I would recommend you Jack it up 1st if it’s completely flat. You don’t have to take the flat tire all the way off the ground yet, but the suspension will need to be raised. Best of luck and thanks for watching!
Hey Chad, Do you store spare tire cover in cargo area until you put the full size tire back on car. Just secure cable assembly only? Owners manual is confusing.
Once the full size is back on, you shouldn’t have to jack it up again since it will sit higher. Crank the cable back down, pull out the excess, put the spare in the carrier and run the cable through them both and crank it up. And hope you never have to do it again!
Also lower it once in a while to make sure the mechanism isn’t seized. And lube it. But changing a flat on the road isn’t easy. And the spare is still a donut. Only good for limited use. Probably better to just call the motor league and drag it home or to a shop unless you’re really stuck. Not a member? It’s cheap insurance for these kinds of situations.
awesome information for sure. Appreciate you sharing this because now I'm going to 1 check to make sure I have everything 2 make sure I have air and then 3 put it right back and have it ready for emergency thank you again
Sorry that happened! I guess spray it down with WD40 or some other lubricant. Hopefully that frees it up so you can make sure the spare has air. Best of luck to you and thanks for watching!
That happened to us RIGHT NOW (Well, why else would we be watching the video) and my wonderful son pounded it loose with a big ole vise grip. Hoping we make it out of here ok, and that the spare works for my early morning run before I get to the shop. 😬😐
@@imonthewinningside8281 I'm glad he had that pair of vice grips! That's a tool that can be used for so many things! See if the tire shop can spray some lube on the tire carrier before they put you spare back up for you.
I've owned a T&C for 10 years and I have never had to drop the spare. I probably should just to put some air into it because I know it doesnt have any left. LOL
I’m glad you’ve never had to use it! I bet it’s flat by now. Ours was when we bought it used. I check it once a year or have a mechanic do it when it’s up on a lift. Thanks for watching!
So you’re stuck on the side of a road and need to access the spare by lying on the driver’s side of the car?? That has to be one of the worst designs I’ve seen in my life. Thank you for helping me to decide not to buy this car!
Right? Either that or have a good road side assistance policy!
I just had to do this myself and it is as bad and annoying as it sounds
No lol I drove that mf home on the rim and now it's fucked and now I'm in my driveway
Do you think it’s better to call a tow truck
Stuck on the road and found out how to get this done thru you. it was challenging unwinding this tire. Thanks for your video
Sorry you had a flat but I’m happy I could help you out! Thanks for sharing and for watching!
Had to ask the Triple AAA guy to watch your video on my cell phone so he could find the spare tire!
Thanks so much!😊❤
Outstanding! I’m glad it could help you guys out! Thanks for watching!
Definitely a really crazy spot to put a spare tire. after waiting 6 ours for triple-a to get a flat bed trailer to me on the side of a busy highway, I wish that i would have found your video. Now I know, thank you!
Always glad to help. Sorry you had to wait that long! Thanks for watching!
You just saved the day for this girl!! I would never have known how to get my spare out from there!! Thank you!
Awesome! I’m glad it helped. Thanks for sharing and for watching!
I have a 2010 T&C. I’ve owned it 3 years and have never seen the spare. I followed your instructions, which were crystal clear, and found my doughnut was good but very low on air. I’m good to go now! Thank you!

thanks man.i've been driving one for three years and could not find the turn down bolt. i looked for it a few times in the floor but could not locate it. did i pull out the drawer in the back? NO did i pull out all the useless clutter inside the sliding compartment? NO maybe that's why! thank you, great job.
I really appreciate it! I’m glad you know where it is not just in case. Thanks for watching!
So glad that im watching this now rather than when I actually need to use my spare
Heck yeah! There is nothing wrong with being prepared, but I hope you never need to change it!
I appreciate Andrew! Glad this can help folks out.
Thanks bro!
You should be on Car dealer commercials.
Perfectly explained.
Thanks God For UA-cam and People like you and and Viewers like me!!!
I appreciate it and glad to help!
Thanks for actually showing where the crank tool fits to wind the spare down. My 05 didn't have as large of a console but the 2017 has the fancy package like yours.
You bet! It would almost be impossible to find if you didn’t know where to look. Thanks for watching!
I was just going to say what you just stated! Great help! I would of fought it from the passenger side exhaust! THANKS!!!
Thank you so much
Oh goodness, are we grateful for your video! Thank you so much for making this so easy to follow. We live in a part of the world where we seem to have to replace tires every few months, and I can't tell you how much your instructions helped!

This video is priceless information! I just bought a 2019 Grand Caravan! Thank you so much!!
You are more than welcome! I am always glad to help the next guy or gal out. Thanks for sharing and for watching!
Thank you for such a thorough video! Most of the other videos just show how to get to the lowering point.
I appreciate it! I figured showing how to do it would be more effective. Thanks for sharing and for watching!
I wanted space to go from front sest to back so this is great option to remove temporarily.❤❤ Thanks
You bet! These vans are bigger than they look for sure!
Thanks very much. I looked at this video after I was under my Dodge caravan and noticed I didn't even have a spare tire or carrier . Thanks a bunch. 😅 Now I have the challenge to FIND ONE.
I’m glad it could help and thanks for watching!

OMG thank you so very much. I go camping a lot and if I got stuck somewhere, I would not have known what the hell to do.
You bet! I’m glad it could help. It’s always good to be prepared just in case.
This video helped me while I was on the side of the highway
I’m glad to hear it helped. Sorry you were on the side of the road though!
Thank you so much! I didn't think my van even had a spare. Also my 3rd nail in the same single tire lol grrr!
I’m glad you found it! Sounds like you have my luck with nails!

Great video. My grandmother bought her T&C new when my immediate family moved back to my hometown in 2013 and this is the first time it’s ever needed to be removed. Thank God I saw this video. Right after I saw it I got a flat tire. This saved my butt.
Sorry you had the flat, but I’m glad the video could help!
This was one of the most helpful and entertaining videos on UA-cam. Thank you!
I appreciate it! We like to have a little fun!
Thanks!! I recently bought a dodge grand caravan and wonder… where is the spare tire…..now because of your video I take a look and found it…. The compartment for the spare tire… in my case it didn’t coming the spare tire!!! But thank you very much!!
Bummer there is no spare, but at least you know now. I appreciate the support and thanks for watching.
ABSOLUTELY AWESOME! We just bought a used 2016 Grand Caravan, and had no clue where the spare tire was! Thank you for your help. Now that I’ve gotten the tire down, getting it towards me is a different challenge
That is a fact! Nothing comes easy with these vans!
THANK YOU SOOO MUCH, wow! I never would have figured this all by myself! 🥰
You bet. Glad it could help!

Lol, this guy shades us while teaching us...not even remotely subliminal... can't be mad at that. Good info😂
Gotta have some fun! Thanks for watching!
Thank you for this !!! You saved the day with this video. I had no idea and even reading the manual I was lost.
I’m glad it could help! I agree with you on the manual instructions. Very confusing to say the least. Thanks for sharing and for watching!
I never knew there was a spare. I will have to double check my 2015 T&C.
Thank you for the video, i'm sitting here on a raining day in Michigan on a flat tire in my town and country saying aman. I seen the video after my daughter came to rescue me.

Awesome and to the point. Please do more videos when you can.
I appreciate and will do! Thanks for sharing and for watching!
I'm so glad I waited and bought a Pacifica with the tire and inflator kit.
It’s crazy how a lot of newer vehicles don’t have a spare! I don’t think you can go wrong with a Pacifica!

thankyou! my mom needed her spare and this video got right to the point on how to do that!
Good deal! I'm glad it could help. The manual doesn't do a good job of explaining how to do it.
Thank you so much for sharing this video, I'm about to buy one and was confused where it was located.. Thanks to your video,I'm good 👍
That’s great! I’m glad it could save you from spending extra money!
*i BROUGHT MY VAN USED SO IM HOPING THAT THE TIRE IS STILL IN USABLE CONDITON. IM GOING TO USE THIS INFORMATION TO GET MY VAN ROLLING . tHANK YOU*
You bet! It's always better to be prepared just in case!
I have a 2011 VW Routan. The spare tire is there as well, because it’s a Dodge! These are awesome vans.
Our van has been great minus a few repairs!
This video was very beneficial because I never would have found the spare.
I’m glad to hear it helped! The manual is terrible for these vans!
Thank you!
These vans are huge once the seats go into the floor! The spare carrier is just as easy going up and getting it down. I hope you never need to use it!
Wow I’m glad I clicked this thank you!
Absolutely! I hope it helped out! Thanks for sharing and for watching!
Dude your video was not only informative it was entertaining aswell
I appreciate it! Gotta have a little fun when you learn! Thanks for sharing and for watching!
Ugh! Tire repairs! I’m with you. I wonder what engineer said this would be a great idea! Thanks for sharing and for watching!
So... did your tire get screwed, or did you? 🤔
@@imonthewinningside8281 one in the same I guess!
good video, my daughter just bought a 2016. better go make sure it has the tools and a spare. thanks
I appreciate it! Better safe than sorry. Thanks for watching!
Holy fk what a convoluted process... Still can't figure out why UA-cam recommended this video lol. I was searching "places to hide drugs." lol
Haha! Maybe they were thinking along the same lines as you. Or maybe using a couple products. lol
THANK YOU,I'M LOOKING TO BUY ONE OF THESE VANS. THANKS FOR BEING A BLESSING. LIKE BUTTON SMASHED...
You won’t be disappointed. They are a pretty great van for the price! I appreciate the support and thanks for watching!
Ha you just saved my partner from having to sleep in the dog house. He was about to man handle the spare off 🙄.
Outstanding! Glad to help! Who would ever imagine that’s how they would design things! Thank you guys for watching!
Great little video. Thanks for posting
I appreciate that and thanks for watching!
There is a hidden floor well behind the front seats where the spare fits. Also if can be put in the storage well in the rear. 😊
Ours won’t fit anything with the stow and go seating.
Ur likable, funny, & easy to understand
Thank you!
Omg thank you soooooo much I’m at work and this video just appeared….I didn’t know I had a spear 😂😂😂😂😂😂 I thought they gave me the car without ☝🏾😂😂😂😂😂thank you
Thanks Omar! I’m glad it could help. Such a strange place to put it!
This guy just saved me like 50 dollars. I’ll give you 50 thousand likes if I could 🤛🏽
I appreciate it! Just tell 30,000 of your closest friends to subscribe to the channel! lol. I’m glad it could help you!

@@C10TruckNerd haha thanks for the reply!!!! And that would be great.
We just found this video and both laughed the whole way through. Thank you for the info and great entertainment!!😂
I appreciate it! Who says you can't learn and have fun at the same time? Thanks for watching!
That was a GREAT question! Thanks!
Hey Chad, Do you store spare tire cover in cargo area until you put the full size tire back on car. Just secure cable assembly only? Owners manual is confusing.
You can do either. If the carrier is filthy and you don’t want to put it inside the van, I would tuck it back under until you put the spare back.
This video really helped me …. Thank you.
Thank You! I’m glad it could!
Very good video save the day
I appreciate it and glad it could help!
glad i found this vid thank you
Thanks! Glad it could help!
I just learnd the super consol has a rear pull conpartment. 😂😅
Outstanding! Some much room for treasures!
I guess whoever owned my van before me didn’t feel like putting the spare tire back! Geez
That’s not good! Especially if you don’t find out until you need it!
Thank you so much Chad!!!
You bet! Thanks for watching!
Thank you for the video! You helped me out today. 👍
I appreciate it! I’m glad it could help!
Well, thanks for this informative video. Now, how do I return the spare tire back to its place after repairing the full size tire?
Once the full size is back on, you shouldn’t have to jack it up again since it will sit higher. Crank the cable back down, pull out the excess, put the spare in the carrier and run the cable through them both and crank it up. And hope you never have to do it again!
Thank you
You bet! Thanks for watching!
what a place to put a spare tire . if you did get a flat you wouldnt be able to get the spare out because the vans sitting to low
It’s tight, but the donut should have the clearance if any of the four go flat as long as you’re on level ground.
You should be hired by car companies to design easy ways to place spare tyres
I would enjoy doing that!
Great. You are a life saver
I appreciate it! Glad it could help!
Thanks!! great vid!
I appreciate it! I hope you never need it!
very informative thanks!
You bet! Glad it could help!
Thank you SIR!!
You bet and glad to help!
Thanks The Chad
Thank you!
That’s a good tip I haven’t done before!
awesome information for sure. Appreciate you sharing this because now I'm going to 1 check to make sure I have everything 2 make sure I have air and then 3 put it right back and have it ready for emergency thank you again
Absolutely! I’m would rather you be prepared just in case! Thanks for watching!

You bet
wife hit a pot hole took ourt a tire we got the tire down but those flaps then bend in weren't moving :) had to have it towed!!!!
Another vid re: putting the spare back up please
Will do!
