Thanks a bunch, I purchased a 2015 Town and Country just last week & asked the salesman the location of the spare. He had no clue and after some running around he came back to me & said that these minivans did not come with spare tires !!! I didn't believe him so I kneeled down and started from the back until I got to the driver's side underbelly & there it was, however, unfortunately, it was empty !!! So I showed the surprised & a little embarrassed salesman where the spare should have been & inquired if he could find one for my minivan, of course, with no luck !!! The console is the short one & much easier than the one you show, I guess I am lucker !!! Liked & subscribed.
I’m glad you could show him up! We sure love our van even though it has some weird quarks like the spare tire. When the thermostat goes out, check out my video on how to replace it. It will save you a bunch of money. Thanks for the support!
@@C10TruckNerd When replacing the thermo I'd also replace the crappy glued Y connector for the heater. It is so bad companies offer complete kits to replace it. It failed on my van and came close to killing the engine.
But he told you the truth. In standard equipment you had only repear kit for flat tire. Spare tire was optional equipment, so they were installed only in vehicles which owner paid for additional option.
So you’re stuck on the side of a road and need to access the spare by lying on the driver’s side of the car?? That has to be one of the worst designs I’ve seen in my life. Thank you for helping me to decide not to buy this car!

Definitely a really crazy spot to put a spare tire. after waiting 6 ours for triple-a to get a flat bed trailer to me on the side of a busy highway, I wish that i would have found your video. Now I know, thank you!
I have a 2010 T&C. I’ve owned it 3 years and have never seen the spare. I followed your instructions, which were crystal clear, and found my doughnut was good but very low on air. I’m good to go now! Thank you!
I'm glad to hear it could help! The manual isn't worth a hoot. Hopefully you never need it, but at least it will be ready in case. Stay safe out there and thanks for watching!
thanks man.i've been driving one for three years and could not find the turn down bolt. i looked for it a few times in the floor but could not locate it. did i pull out the drawer in the back? NO did i pull out all the useless clutter inside the sliding compartment? NO maybe that's why! thank you, great job.
Thanks for actually showing where the crank tool fits to wind the spare down. My 05 didn't have as large of a console but the 2017 has the fancy package like yours.
Oh goodness, are we grateful for your video! Thank you so much for making this so easy to follow. We live in a part of the world where we seem to have to replace tires every few months, and I can't tell you how much your instructions helped!
I really appreciate it! I’m always happy to see folks be proactive and learn now instead of when they’re on the side of the road! Stay safe and thanks for watching!

Thanks very much. I looked at this video after I was under my Dodge caravan and noticed I didn't even have a spare tire or carrier . Thanks a bunch. 😅 Now I have the challenge to FIND ONE.
Great video. My grandmother bought her T&C new when my immediate family moved back to my hometown in 2013 and this is the first time it’s ever needed to be removed. I’m gonna be doing it at like 7am tomorrow in town where it made it to so it’ll be a pleasant experience. I saw some other comments where the spare was missing but I’m just simply hoping it’s not one of those things that comes in a certain package - the manual doesn’t say “if equipped” so…. Update: the tools were missing, the scissor jack (which I wasn’t gonna use anyways) and the Slime machine were in it but I couldn’t find the other tools. Tow truck it is
I've got a 2015 T&C in the rust belt, it's now 9 years old, and I never needed the spare until a few days ago. I was able to lower the spare without much effort, but the spring loaded clips that release the spare from the plastic cover were rusted tight. After "soaking" the mechanism with Kroil penetrating oil for a few hours, the clips still wouldn't budge, so I took a hammer and chisel and gently chiseled the clips loose enough that I was then able to force them open to get the spare off. Once I did that, I used the Kroil again and worked the clips back and forth until the spring action worked. To *hopefully* keep this from rusting tight again, I sprayed lithium grease in and around the mechanism. I'll probably make this an annual maintenance task.
Okay oh my gosh. Never in my wildest dreams would I have ever thought that was where the stupid spare was!!!! But Chad you are amazing and you are a very good teacher! I could never thank you enough for this information. Thank you for helping this old woman!!! Happy New Year to you!
Thank you for the kind words LeAnne! I’m glad it could help you out. Who would have thought to look there? The manual wasn’t much help either. I appreciate your time and Happy 2023 to you!
I’ve had to do this a few times on both my old Dodge Grand Caravan, and my Town & Country. It’s a pain in the backside to say the least, so if you have problems with getting under the vehicle etc. just get a good roadside assistance service, and let them know how to do it as a lot of them don’t know how to do it. Great video 👍
It is not easy, especially on the side of the road! Having a good roadside service plan is a great idea. Hopefully you can limp the van off the side of the road and wait.

Sorry that you had a flat and had to go on the treasure hunt for a spare! I was like you, had a flat and couldn’t even understand the manual. I was hoping this video could help folks out! Good luck and thanks for watching!
We just purchased a 2010 Grand Caravan and I'm trying to figure it out before the emergencies happen! We had to resort to a youtube video to see how to get the stow n go seats out of the floor. This video was VERY helpful! I'm wondering how to get that dragging spare-tire and carrier back in place. It can't be as simple (haha) as getting it out, can it? Thank you!
thank you very much now I have my problem solved , I did not know how to put the answer to the same place , a friend changed the answer but I did not know how to put it in its place myself , thank you .
Excellently explained. Tell me Sir, my Chrysler Town & Country needs the last portion of the bottom small front strip on both sides. My dealer says he can't get these anywhere. Do you know where I can get these side end pieces at the bottom of the front doors?
Thank you for the kind words. I am not sure how close you are to salvage yards or a LKQ, but I get a lot of used parts there and from ebay for our Caravan.
Omg thank you soooooo much I’m at work and this video just appeared….I didn’t know I had a spear 😂😂😂😂😂😂 I thought they gave me the car without ☝🏾😂😂😂😂😂thank you
In April I got a flat on a gravel road going into Hot Springs, NC. I had this video downloaded on this trip and a couple of others just in case no cell service and needed to watch to walk me through the process. Turns out there was no T wrench in my minivan (I bought it used). Roadside was of no help since they couldn’t find anyone to come to this remote location. I tried calling places myself but most were closed and the one that could drive out didn’t have the T wrench (I’m guessing most wouldn’t too). The only gas station in town had no mechanic to fix a flat and there were no repair shops in this small town. Even the local police said AAA wouldn’t drive out (even if I had AAA). I was resigned to the fact I’m totally screwed! Roadside did update me every half hour but they still had no luck. After about 2 hours I decided to take matters in my own hands. Luckily there is an air compressor included in the tire repair kit. I filled up the tire and drove away. Asheville was about 35 miles away so I stopped every 5 miles or so to check on the tire and it was enough to get me to 3 small towns to use their air pumps. I had blown 2 of the 3 12v socket fuses using the included air compressor. I even bought that slime in a can but it didn’t work. I was able to get to a hotel knowing it would be totally flat by morning. So next morning sure enough it was flat but the handy air compressor did the trick to get me to drive to the Discount Tire store. (Online appointment said 2 days out). They said they could get me in right away so I just got 4 new tires and was happy to be out of that jam. Fast forward to today and I watched your video again and I’m going to get the spare brought down and make sure it’s pumped up. (Forgot to mention I did get a T wrench at a junkyard for free) Also bringing extra fuses along with a fuse puller since I’m leaving on another vacation in 2 days. Your video is very helpful. Haha have to include this….after I was in my hotel roadside called to say someone was on their way to Hot Springs. This was like 5 hours after I first spoke with them. Told them to cancel lol.
That sounded like one heck of a day! I'm glad you were able to take matters into your own hands and get to town! At least you have everything you need in case there is a next time! Thanks for the support and for watching!
Yes you can. The spare tire hole still lines up. You won't have any power to the USB, or cigarette plug and lights to the console unless you modify some wires.
Sorry that happened! I guess spray it down with WD40 or some other lubricant. Hopefully that frees it up so you can make sure the spare has air. Best of luck to you and thanks for watching!
That happened to us RIGHT NOW (Well, why else would we be watching the video) and my wonderful son pounded it loose with a big ole vise grip. Hoping we make it out of here ok, and that the spare works for my early morning run before I get to the shop. 😬😐
@@imonthewinningside8281 I'm glad he had that pair of vice grips! That's a tool that can be used for so many things! See if the tire shop can spray some lube on the tire carrier before they put you spare back up for you.
FYI lts difficult, but you can push the spare out the passenger side to make it a bit safer. I lower my spare every year, lube the holding device, and check the air pressure.
Good to know! I don’t like anyone being on the driver side of traffic for very long. I’m glad you are staying proactive just in case! It will pay off one day.
Thanks I saw other videos but they didn't have a center console.. Uhh when I saw your and where it access this trap for lowering the tire I actually swore. Seriously, couldn't they just figure out some way of adding it to the system menu to auto drop or something 🤦🏻♀️ I have a flat in my driveway.. Now I can change a tire and all but this is ridiculous. Thankfully I think my tire will hold air long enough to drive 7min to the tire shop. I have my portable air compressor and an extra vehicle following me.. And the lovely screw from a construction site nicely wedged in my tire.
awesome information for sure. Appreciate you sharing this because now I'm going to 1 check to make sure I have everything 2 make sure I have air and then 3 put it right back and have it ready for emergency thank you again
What do I need to Do this without the wrench? as I didn't get one from the dealer and I asked he's just said he can't find one. What size is the bolt head and can I do it with a socket and wrench? what is the size and shape or what is it called so I can order it on Amazon? Thanks
It is a square head. The extension rods to the jack slide over it. So you would just need one of those. Most of them are universal. If you can rob the whole setup from a grand caravan or town and country that would be the best. I bet you could get them from a salvage yard cheap.
Hey Chad, Do you store spare tire cover in cargo area until you put the full size tire back on car. Just secure cable assembly only? Owners manual is confusing.
Once the full size is back on, you shouldn’t have to jack it up again since it will sit higher. Crank the cable back down, pull out the excess, put the spare in the carrier and run the cable through them both and crank it up. And hope you never have to do it again!
Good job. My van is starting to have some electrical issues, like the sensors for the back up stems, do know why, but it's clean and has no condensation in any connections. Do you have any problems with your van???
I feel like snapping a pic or making a video of my wonderful van, a 2016 Grand Caravan. I recently had to use my jack on my van.. I am well aware of how and where to place the jack in order to lift the van, so you can imagine my amazement when the jack went through the bottom of my van. Not that bad, but I still have two holes where there shouldn't be any....... The jack has an odd shaped lifting plate, its got a notch to accommodate the lip you describe here in your video as being "reinforced". So, as I'm jacking up my van, in the proper placement, the jack went through the bottom and caught itself on that lip.. My lip is not that tall and is the reason for the jack going through the bottom.. Sucks!! All I did is cleaned the area with degreasers and applied a few coats of rubber undercoat with a brush in and around the new punchers to be sure that the unpainted metal that was now exposed didnt catch cancer aka rust... I am replacing that stupid screw jack with a nice bottle jack, it will fit in the same place as the crapy factory one but it'll be way more efficient at lifting without putting more holes in my undercarriage. Nice video!!
That stinks! Those scissor jacks are a such a pain! I don’t blame you for adding a bottle jack. Cheap insurance on the side of the road. Hope you never have to use it. Thanks for the support and for watching!
So Chad, if your driver side front tire goes flat, will you have enough clearance for the tire to come out? Or must you first jack up that side to get the room to pull it out? Thank you for the great video. It absolutely will help me.
It would be super tight. I would recommend you Jack it up 1st if it’s completely flat. You don’t have to take the flat tire all the way off the ground yet, but the suspension will need to be raised. Best of luck and thanks for watching!

Sorry that you had a flat and had to go on the treasure hunt for a spare! I was like you, had a flat and couldn’t even understand the manual. I was hoping this video could help folks out! Good luck and thanks for watching!
I wanted space to go from front sest to back so this is great option to remove temporarily.❤❤ Thanks
You bet! These vans are bigger than they look for sure!
Great little video. Thanks for posting
I appreciate that and thanks for watching!
*i BROUGHT MY VAN USED SO IM HOPING THAT THE TIRE IS STILL IN USABLE CONDITON. IM GOING TO USE THIS INFORMATION TO GET MY VAN ROLLING . tHANK YOU*
You bet! It's always better to be prepared just in case!
Thank you so much for sharing this video, I'm about to buy one and was confused where it was located.. Thanks to your video,I'm good 👍
That’s great! I’m glad it could save you from spending extra money!
Ha you just saved my partner from having to sleep in the dog house. He was about to man handle the spare off 🙄.
Outstanding! Glad to help! Who would ever imagine that’s how they would design things! Thank you guys for watching!
THANK YOU,I'M LOOKING TO BUY ONE OF THESE VANS. THANKS FOR BEING A BLESSING. LIKE BUTTON SMASHED...
You won’t be disappointed. They are a pretty great van for the price! I appreciate the support and thanks for watching!
You are a gentleman and a scholar and I thank you sir.
Thank you kind sir! I hope it could help! Thanks for watching!
good video, my daughter just bought a 2016. better go make sure it has the tools and a spare. thanks
I appreciate it! Better safe than sorry. Thanks for watching!
I have a 2011 VW Routan. The spare tire is there as well, because it’s a Dodge! These are awesome vans.
Our van has been great minus a few repairs!
Thank you!
These vans are huge once the seats go into the floor! The spare carrier is just as easy going up and getting it down. I hope you never need to use it!
thank you very much now I have my problem solved , I did not know how to put the answer to the same place , a friend changed the answer but I did not know how to put it in its place myself , thank you .
Great! I’m glad it could help you out. Thanks for sharing and for watching!
what a place to put a spare tire . if you did get a flat you wouldnt be able to get the spare out because the vans sitting to low
It’s tight, but the donut should have the clearance if any of the four go flat as long as you’re on level ground.
Ur likable, funny, & easy to understand
Thank you!
This was so helpful thank you
Awesome! I'm always glad to help someone before they need help! Thanks for watching!

Omg thank you soooooo much I’m at work and this video just appeared….I didn’t know I had a spear 😂😂😂😂😂😂 I thought they gave me the car without ☝🏾😂😂😂😂😂thank you
Thanks Omar! I’m glad it could help. Such a strange place to put it!
What do you with the spare tire carrier on the ground ?
I just crank it back up until I get the tire repaired or replaced.
There is a hidden floor well behind the front seats where the spare fits. Also if can be put in the storage well in the rear. 😊
Ours won’t fit anything with the stow and go seating.
Thank you you helped us today!
Awesome! Glad it could help!
Thanks for this great video.
You bet! Thanks for sharing and for watching!
Excellent Video!!!

Just wanted to say thanks for making the video!!!!!

Is there a way to install the larger center console in a van that has the regular one?
Yes you can. The spare tire hole still lines up. You won't have any power to the USB, or cigarette plug and lights to the console unless you modify some wires.
@C10TruckNerd thanks I just got a 2010 with the basic one so I'm off to the junk yard to see if I can find the nicer one
Very good video save the day
I appreciate it and glad it could help!
wife hit a pot hole took ourt a tire we got the tire down but those flaps then bend in weren't moving :) had to have it towed!!!!
See if the tire shop can spray some lube on the tire carrier before they put you spare back up for you.
glad i found this vid thank you
Thanks! Glad it could help!
Ugh! Tire repairs! I’m with you. I wonder what engineer said this would be a great idea! Thanks for sharing and for watching!
So... did your tire get screwed, or did you? 🤔

Does the spare have tpms? My lights on all four tires are at the proper pressure and it’s still on and won’t go off. 😊
I don’t think any of the spares came with sensors. If it’s still on, you might have a bad one. I think Dodge can check them for free.
Holy fk what a convoluted process... Still can't figure out why UA-cam recommended this video lol. I was searching "places to hide drugs." lol
Haha! Maybe they were thinking along the same lines as you. Or maybe using a couple products. lol
awesome information for sure. Appreciate you sharing this because now I'm going to 1 check to make sure I have everything 2 make sure I have air and then 3 put it right back and have it ready for emergency thank you again
Absolutely! I’m would rather you be prepared just in case! Thanks for watching!
You can do either. If the carrier is filthy and you don’t want to put it inside the van, I would tuck it back under until you put the spare back.
Thanks!! great vid!
I appreciate it! I hope you never need it!
Well, thanks for this informative video. Now, how do I return the spare tire back to its place after repairing the full size tire?
Once the full size is back on, you shouldn’t have to jack it up again since it will sit higher. Crank the cable back down, pull out the excess, put the spare in the carrier and run the cable through them both and crank it up. And hope you never have to do it again!
Good job. My van is starting to have some electrical issues, like the sensors for the back up stems, do know why, but it's clean and has no condensation in any connections. Do you have any problems with your van???
I haven’t had that give me fits yet. Power window motors, sliding door lock actuators and rear condenser lately.
I need a video on how to put it back on now lol
When I have my next flat, you got it!

That was a GREAT question! Thanks!
