    Craving restaurant-style naan but don't have an oven or yeast? Look no further! This recipe for Garlic Naan & Butter Naan is quick, easy, and absolutely delicious! Made without an oven or yeast, these soft and flavorful naan breads are perfect for dipping into your favorite curries or enjoying on their own.
    Naan recipe ingredients
    For the Naan dough
    • 1/2 cup yogurt
    • 1/4 cup milk (lukewarm)
    • 1 tbsp oil
    • 2 tsp Sugar
    • 2 cups all-purpose flour (Maida)
    • 1/2 tsp Salt
    • 1/2 tsp baking powder
    • 1/4 tsp baking soda
    Other ingredients
    • Sprinkle Nigella seeds (Kalonji)
    • Coriander leaves
    • 4-6 finely chopped garlic cloves
    Step by step Instructions
    1. Prepare your naan dough by mixing all the ingredients mentioned above under Naan dough.
    2. Knead the dough for 10 minutes or until the dough becomes soft and not sticky. Cover and keep it aside for 2 hours.
    3. After 2 hours...
    4. Shape the naan. Divide the dough into 6 equal balls. Roll each ball into a thin oval or circle, about 1/4 inch thick on a lightly floured surface.
    5. Sprinkle kalonji (nigella seeds), coriander leaves, and garlic. Roll the dough lightly once more; this will stick the kalonji seeds and coriander.
    6. Apply water to the bottom side (optional): Brush or lightly sprinkle just the underside of the naan dough with water. Don't saturate it.
    7. Heat your tawa: Preheat your tawa over medium heat. A few drops of water should sizzle and evaporate quickly when flicked onto the surface.
    8. Cook the naan: Carefully place the naan dough on the tawa, with the wet side down (if used) for better adhesion. It's time to flip once it starts to brown and puff up with air pockets. cook it directly over a low open flame (if using a gas stovetop) for those classic char marks, or continue cooking on the tawa for a few seconds.
    9. Enjoy your freshly cooked homemade naan immediately. Pair it with curries, dips, or simply savor it on its own.
