Using multiple angles to display each letter is genius. It can make the difference between trying to copy a sign and fully understanding the sign you're making. Thank you very much for posting.
Something I found helpful for practicing is signing along and trying to stay one step ahead and then checking you're right when he does it. For example, I sign an A before he signs an A, I check my A is right based on his, then I have to switch to a B in the time before he does, then once he does I use his to check, and so on. Maybe this will help someone else as well!
I just learned the alphabet after watching your video about five times. I figure if I watch it five times every day and continue to add in words I’ll get better at ASL in no-time. Last week a deaf person sat down at my bar and I really wished that I would’ve had the ability to have a better conversation with him. We managed by typing things on our phones, however, when he comes back, I want to blow him away by having an entire conversation in a language we both can understand. So thank you for all these videos because of all the ASL channels I’ve come across yours is the very best. ✌🏽
To hearing English speakers: 1.ASL is NOT English. ASL has its own grammar structure and sayings/ signs that can be only understood in sign and not English 2. Facial expression is very important. In English when you speak, the pitch of your voice changes depending on how you feel. To show feelings in ASL we use facial expression 3.Deaf and deaf have slightly different meanings
I'm learning ASL now and I'm having a hard time with the facial expressions-- I think I'm a bit repressed and feel scared/embarrassed to do anything with my face that's not a neutral expression. Glad I'm learning ASL and extra glad because it's teaching me about myself in ways I didn't expect! I'm working to strengthen the link between my thoughts and the expressions I convey outwardly

@@georgianamurnaghan9721 what is wrong with you? Hi from the land of the long white cloud, New Zealand (NZ)! Thank you for the video of ASL ABC :-) I work with a lovely student who has lost the movement of her right side of her body from a stroke. Although Deaf people in NZ use the manual alphabet with two hands, your video has given me an idea to help my student learn ABC through ASL with a one hand alphabet signs. This video is clear, precise and an easy pace to follow. Without sounds or captions, come on you people! Strengthen your visual perceptions and ASL or any other sign languages used around the world are not based on sounds! Imagine what it feels like to be immersed into the land of the Deaf signing to communicate and that will help change your perceptions of Deaf people and their beautiful language!! So ... thank you! Good work!
@Breezyhands Learning the one handed alphabet to use in a country where they use a two handed alphabet might not help that person fit in. Is there another way? If you work with some Deaf folks I bet they can help you come up with an adaptation to the two handed alphabet (and other signs) so your student will be able to communicate with others! Best of luck :-)
I'm using this for my ASL class and it is really helpful, and I know that other people have mentioned the multiple camera views, but I want to express my own gratitude for this. Thank You!
I see a lot of people talking about forgetting the letter f, I was told once to think of the three fingers sticking up like feathers and that’s helped me have something to connect it to.
I cannot find enough good things to say about this video! The pace was just right for my 6yr old & I to keep cadence with; and, at least for me, not feeling that either of us were just contorting our hands in a hurried attempt to try & mimic the instructor. What I find most brilliant are the multi-view of hand/finger positioning, as well as there being no music or voice-over to distract from the tutorial. Bravo, and thank you!
This is FaZe Ewok's dad! For anyone that doesn't know her, she has quickly become a popular video game streamer on Twitch/Mixer. Ewok is deaf, and I've been following her for awhile. She's inspired me to start learning ASL, and I really enjoy it!
This is so helpful. I just started a class & it’s all so fast. I love that this is slow and I can do the letters and check myself. I’m doing it over and over which is what I need.
I don't usually comment, but this is easily the best video on the ASL alphabet I've found! Other ones I saw made the direction and shape confusing, but this one did a really good job.
Wish you had the letters on screen as you were signing. Otherwise, great video, no jibber jabber and straight to the point. Some other lady's ASL channel kept breaking in between each letter for her kid to sign. And honestly, I don't care to watch her kid! So thanks for being right to the point without the dumb nonsense 💕
Awesome ! Me and a couple of friends at job are trying to learn ASL to be able to talk with our deaf customers (surprisingly, there's a lot). So, yeah, we'll probably only need the basic, but we're determined to learn everything, and be fluent ;) This video is really helpful !
I'm proud of my self an author came to my school today his father was deaf and he taught us sign language of alphabet and here I am I know how to do most of them now but I still gotta keep learning
Since I have really good memory, I memorized everything in like 45 minutes, but I’ll probably forget them in time! So I’ll practice the alphabet everyday.
a few things that helped me- if you turn on the english captions it shows each letter also if you need to you can always slow down the video speed! good luck w your practice everyone~
I wish I knew what to do for signs that my fingers can't do. For finger spelling, I just can't manage the "B". My thumb can not fold down across my palm without pulling my index and middle fingers down too. Might be something to do with the tendons-- my family seems especially prone to developing stuff like tendinitis. Gonna try to keep learning anyway. I figure knowing the signs and not being able to do them is better than not knowing them at all.
This is really helpful, this year I'm trying to learn Spanish and ASL, I plan on mastering ASL in at least two years. I also plan on mastering Spanish in four years. I also plan on mastering other languages too, but for now I'm going to start with ASL and Spanish, wish me luck!
Great video! It helped me a lot. I am trying to learn from a book, and the illustrations make it hard to know exactly how to sign. This helped a lot seeing it in "person" rather then a basic illustration. I am happy I found this video to correct myself in the beginning, rather then find out later!
I'm very glad with how short and simple this video is. I really needed to just see someone go through it and know how to position my hand for some letters.
seriously much better than my classes ASL dvd, they go way too fast. and it you're a beginner, it's hard to learn things like that. Eventually I will get faster, but this video helped immensely! :)
I’m learning asl because I’m autistic and only partial verbal. I haven’t learned sign language yet because I had a late diagnosis, so I’m teaching myself!
He does great videos, I have found as a student that really helps when you have alternate views of the signs. Sometimes when straight on, exact finger movements can be elusive. Seeing it from two plus directions helps. Thanks for great learning videos!
Does it matter what angle the letter is at? For example I saw the letter c isn’t displayed towards the camera (what would be the person but more forward to the side where you can’t see the O shape)
I have the same question. Because initially I would've guessed that the angle is generally important in sign languages. Now I've seen letters like 'C' and 'D' in different perspectives, though, and it confuses me quite a lot, since there was never an explanation attached. 😅
I don't know what tendons or muscles i messed up but I'm really struggling to keep my pointer and middle straight up when putting my thumb inwards (for like.. the B 😅)
I like this video more than the others mainly because this one is short and simple and it also has the different angles for how it should look. This was very helpful! 😊😊❤❤
Finally a well-made asl alphabet learning video with captions! Thanks for showing the letters from differet angles, that helps alot. Doesn't Asl use mouth forms for letters? Is it okay if I don't bend my thumb when I sign B? I can bend my thumb while using my left hand, but I can't with my right. I want to learn asl, and I want to make sure I don't unintentionally mess up any letters
I'm so glad to see the letter G this way. Now when I see it,people that are right hand dominant make it like the index finger is pointing to the left, with the thumb on top. I'm happy to see letter O this way as well, since I usually see letter O turned sideways.
I saw in another video the when making the Y you are suppose to have the knuckles facing towards the person you are signing, not up. Not sure if it’s either way.
Excuse me for asking I am ignorant in this and I could be wrong but wouldn't it be helpful to have the letters superimposed as he signs them someone give me directions and let me know

would small hands be a problem for a sign speaking person? I hope they can understand me even though my fingers are very small and some of the letters like T or M I cant do properly
I noticed that one of the hands is the opposite of the other in the two videos at the left side. Is one of them mirrored? I need to know so i dont accidentally say sonething weird in asl... Thank you!
Using multiple angles to display each letter is genius. It can make the difference between trying to copy a sign and fully understanding the sign you're making. Thank you very much for posting.
You are so write because I was watching a different video and I had to keep stopping to see how his fingers were positioned
It helps so much. I learned from a different video to find out later that I was doing k completely wrong
Definitely the closest you can get to having someone teach you in person!
And as a new student to ASL the speed with which he displays each letter is wonderful!
Very helpful!

uncurl your fingers on 'm' & 'n'. when you are signing to an actual deaf person, it helps them understand what you're saying better. c:

What do you mean? Like uncurl before forming the m and n or while making the sign?

Anyone from school? This is great practice to use.
would small hands be a problem for a sign speaking person? I hope they can understand me even though my fingers are very small and some of the letters like T or M I cant do properly
can you do the letters with your left hand? or is it exclusively the right?
a visual example of the letter he is showing might help. I am new to this and I have to guess what he is doing.
ultimAvalon Not sure if you've figured it out yet, but if you turn on the closed captions, it shows what letter he is signing.
I noticed that one of the hands is the opposite of the other in the two videos at the left side. Is one of them mirrored? I need to know so i dont accidentally say sonething weird in asl... Thank you!
I don't really know any ALS but can you use any hand for these. I'm a lefty can l use that hand
does it matter what hand you use ?
