Life hack, when using a floss threader take the threader and pull a piece of floss through it. Then knot the floss to the threader and you no longer need to pull it through each time. It has saved me a lot of time using this method of floss with braces.
The variety of products you have demonstrated is amazing and I will definitely use some of them. My only problem is that I simply cannot use the Floss Threader. It's nice that you are showing how to do it on perfect teeth model but our teeth are very tight on its each other and do not look that way with perfect space in between! And if they did we wouldn't need braces! Second, the way Olivia is showing how to floss doesn't make sense at all! One hand is completely inside the jaw like we are just a walking jaws without the head. In reality it's super hard to floss the normal way!
Yeah, the whole thing didn’t help, I just got braces a week ago, I tried using the threaders, I’ve tried using the proxabrush, that didn’t help me one bit, my teeth crowd into each other, so you can imagine how hard flossing is, I haven’t tried a water flosser yet, but that’s my plan, whenever I use either a proxabrush, or threaders, the floss and the brush get stuck in the brackets, so I always have to start all over

Nope. I don't have any gaps myself between my teeth and i use the 2nd pick on the video. The brush isn't that big as they have it on the video because it wouldn't fit. After all, I do recommend those picks.

I can swear by the Platypus flosser!!👍👍. They are a bit pricey (in my opinion)...I can’t locate them in any stores where I live so I have to buy them from Amazon - about $9 for a bag of 30, but they are worth it. Adult here, 12 months into my 24 month braces journey. With the powerchains, I was having so much trouble flossing with either a floss threader or the superfloss. The struggle was real. I have used the Waterpic Flosser device prior to braces and it does a very good job. For me, I vary my flossing during the week...sometimes just platypus floss and thorough brushing...or platypus floss, Waterpic Floss, then thorough brushing, etc. I advise folks not to rely on the Waterpic soley as your floss as it really can’t get deep down beneath the gum lines like floss can to remove tartar, but it does stimulate the gum tissue and remove bits that may have been left from a good flossing. My teeth have always been tight together, so I haven’t had much success w/ the little floss brushes (even the smallest ones) as they rarely fit b/n my teeth. Also, occassionally my gums get a little sore/swollen/puffy. I will rinse with warm salt walter and also a mix of warm salt water with a splash of hydrogen peroxide to swish around my mouth. This usually resuces gum flare ups within a few days - salt is a natural healing agent. Hope this helps!👍👍

Thnaks I appreciate it, I just can’t seem to get in between my braces unless I use the platypus or floss threader, but I don’t like how time consuming it is so I’ll go with the platypus and water pick
I just got braces on Thursday and it’s very hard and time consuming with the threading the floss and replacing the floss again over and over to get the next tooth to floss. I think the bristle brush pick and the platypus picks are the only options I’m going to settle for and I am also getting the waterpik as well.

I bought cordless H2o floss in Lazada online and tried to use it. The moment it laid to my teeth I got startled from LOW mode. I think one of the most important thing you need to do is prepare your mind and soul for possible pressure on your teeth & gums. I got bleeding gums after using water floss but came refreshed at the same time. I got very sensitive gums so I skip water flossing since two days ago. Btw the little brush didn’t work on me either because its too big to fit in between my teeth so maybe I stick back to thread dental floss.

Hi, this is a question for Dr. Joseph R Nemeth, Could using a water flosser and the soft pick advanced products replace normal flossing if you have braces. And is bleeding normal in the back molar gums when I first start using soft picks? I hope you can help me clear this up. :)
Flossing with braces can be a pain, but it needs to be done! Using an interdental cleaners, soft picks or a water flosser will definitely help on most days when you don't get a chance to floss. However, we do still recommend that all of our patients continue to use traditional dental floss. You may be able to replace floss with one of these alternatives on some days, but on other days remember to whip out the dental floss to continue a well rounded dental hygiene routine. Also yes, some minor bleeding can be expected once you first start a new flossing routine. However, after a week, the bleeding should stop.

Since I've gotten braces, the waterpik is my go too. It helps clear food out and floss in between faster. I have springs on the top and bottom and had trouble flossing without the floss being shred to pieces. 😒

I have never been good about flossing but my teeth were fine before I got braces. I recently have been having periodontal problems since I got braces and although I use a waterpick my dentist said that’s not enough. The floss threaders take me like 30 minutes to floss with (not even joking) and the spaces between my teeth are too small for the first couple brushes. Would the platypus be the best option? Some of my gums hurt so bad I can’t waterpick or brush them very well... 😬
Having periodontal problems after braces is a very common situation. Your gums are probably hurting and sensitive because they are likely not being cleaned properly or frequently enough. I think the platypus flosser is a great option for you. You should use the Waterpik in combination with another flossing method to get the best result.
You probably have gum disease and waterpik never gets under the gum line I never use floss for the first year just the waterpik I went to the dentist and then alot of stinky gunt went out from the teeth and got gingivitis
Just got braces at 29. I think I will purchase a water flosser. I am very scary and I am not tryna break any brackets etc. so I will purchase that instead of the normal floss and floss with floss also
I just got wire braces and for me it so hard & annoying to floss when you got wire braces. Sometimes it gets frustrating because I would like to go fast you can't and I just give up and gargle with mouthwash.
how much pressure should the waterpik be doing? My mom has it on maximum power but the pressure feels extremely strong and it feels like my brackets could fall out anytime i put it that high but when I put it on a low setting the pressure doesn't feel heavy enough to push any plaque out
if your gums bleed its actually good but it mean you need to start flossing or brushing your teeth and gum better or your brushing/flossing to hard so try doing it alittle lighter your welcome
You should watch some videos on proper brushing techniques. I used to struggle with this too! Brush twice a day, floss at least once a day (make sure to get in the gums too) and use a good mouthwash. I recommend oral b bum care toothpaste, listerine tooth defence mouthwash and a medium oral b total care toothbrush. 6 month cleaning at dentist, yearly check ups ect

That hard floss doesnt work at all it wouldnt get in between my teeth. The pick also doesnt work. I dont have gaps in between my teeth so it won’t fit in between them

I use a combination of the floss threader, platypus floss and waterpik. Haven't used the waterpik as much because my braces are recently put on and the pressure hurts my tender gum a lot. However, I have no issue flossing with floss threader (time-consuming but it gets everywhere) and the platypus floss (works great except for crooked/overlap teeth). Point is, don't just rely on the waterpik alone and try different types of floss. Hope you'll find one that works well for you :)
Nice tips. Is Listerine Zero Alcohol good for teeth? Since it is alch. free, not sure it is an anticeptic. I don't do fluoride for many reasons. I use those small brushes, floss and a waterpik. I also use my homemade toothpaste- org. coconut oil, xylitol and cacao. Am I missing any antibacterial ingredients or step? I don't want to develop gum disease. No cavities last time but some gum issues- got braces to correct since teeth were impacting each other. I am getting very serious about my oral health. I appreciate the quality content in your videos.

Could using a water flosser and the soft pick advanced products replace normal flossing if you have braces. And is bleeding normal in the back molar gums when I first start using soft picks? I hope you can help me clear this up. :)

Flossing with braces can be a pain, but it needs to be done!
Using an interdental cleaners, soft picks or a water flosser will definitely help on most days when you don't get a chance to floss. However, we do still recommend that all of our patients continue to use traditional dental floss. You may be able to replace floss with one of these alternatives on some days, but on other days remember to whip out the dental floss to continue a well rounded dental hygiene routine.
Also yes, some minor bleeding can be expected once you first start a new flossing routine. However, after a week, the bleeding should stop.
so um i think i have gum disease bc my gums bleed so bad when i brush my teeth bc i don’t floss. i stopped flossing after i got braces and that was a mistake

Since I've gotten braces, the waterpik is my go too. It helps clear food out and floss in between faster. I have springs on the top and bottom and had trouble flossing without the floss being shred to pieces. 😒

I have never been good about flossing but my teeth were fine before I got braces. I recently have been having periodontal problems since I got braces and although I use a waterpick my dentist said that’s not enough. The floss threaders take me like 30 minutes to floss with (not even joking) and the spaces between my teeth are too small for the first couple brushes. Would the platypus be the best option? Some of my gums hurt so bad I can’t waterpick or brush them very well... 😬
Having periodontal problems after braces is a very common situation. Your gums are probably hurting and sensitive because they are likely not being cleaned properly or frequently enough. I think the platypus flosser is a great option for you. You should use the Waterpik in combination with another flossing method to get the best result.
Waterpik is the ultimate flosser. Totally agree with that comment.

You probably have gum disease and waterpik never gets under the gum line I never use floss for the first year just the waterpik I went to the dentist and then alot of stinky gunt went out from the teeth and got gingivitis
Just got braces at 29. I think I will purchase a water flosser. I am very scary and I am not tryna break any brackets etc. so I will purchase that instead of the normal floss and floss with floss also

I just got wire braces and for me it so hard & annoying to floss when you got wire braces. Sometimes it gets frustrating because I would like to go fast you can't and I just give up and gargle with mouthwash.

Good question! A periodontist specializes in gums/gum disease and dental implants. An orthodontist straightens teeth. It can be confusing!

how much pressure should the waterpik be doing? My mom has it on maximum power but the pressure feels extremely strong and it feels like my brackets could fall out anytime i put it that high but when I put it on a low setting the pressure doesn't feel heavy enough to push any plaque out

if your gums bleed its actually good but it mean you need to start flossing or brushing your teeth and gum better or your brushing/flossing to hard so try doing it alittle lighter your welcome

You should watch some videos on proper brushing techniques. I used to struggle with this too! Brush twice a day, floss at least once a day (make sure to get in the gums too) and use a good mouthwash. I recommend oral b bum care toothpaste, listerine tooth defence mouthwash and a medium oral b total care toothbrush. 6 month cleaning at dentist, yearly check ups ect
Use a toothpaste that says for sensitive teeth or gums it strengthen them.. I have the same problem

Yes, having braces put on may make the teeth feel like they fit tighter making it harder to floss.

That hard floss doesnt work at all it wouldnt get in between my teeth. The pick also doesnt work. I dont have gaps in between my teeth so it won’t fit in between them

I'm not a dentist ,but did you try deep Cleaning for your gum? I think that could help, ask your dentist maybe you need it

The waterpik doesn't get rid of the small gunk stuck in your teeth so I try to use regular floss but it hurts like hell 😫
I use a combination of the floss threader, platypus floss and waterpik. Haven't used the waterpik as much because my braces are recently put on and the pressure hurts my tender gum a lot. However, I have no issue flossing with floss threader (time-consuming but it gets everywhere) and the platypus floss (works great except for crooked/overlap teeth). Point is, don't just rely on the waterpik alone and try different types of floss. Hope you'll find one that works well for you :)

Nice tips. Is Listerine Zero Alcohol good for teeth? Since it is alch. free, not sure it is an anticeptic. I don't do fluoride for many reasons. I use those small brushes, floss and a waterpik. I also use my homemade toothpaste- org. coconut oil, xylitol and cacao. Am I missing any antibacterial ingredients or step? I don't want to develop gum disease. No cavities last time but some gum issues- got braces to correct since teeth were impacting each other. I am getting very serious about my oral health. I appreciate the quality content in your videos.

So whenever I need my dish taste tested I have to call someone else over and say " Hey! Taste this!!" ......LOL

I floss then I use a regular toothbrush then I use a electric toothbrush and then i use mouth wash👁👄👁 I stay away from waterpiks because they make my gums bleed way too much😃
