Dispersed camping in Angelina Forest on Lake Sam Rayburn

We had all intentions in trying a different spot in this area of Angelina forest that we are so fond of but our first and second spots were already taken even though we made it out on a Thursday. So we find ourselves at our go to spot which we have been to several times. My buddy that joined me got to experience it for the first time is he does not to get to go camping as much as he would like so I was happy to have him along. We had fantastic weather for the middle of January with temperatures nearing 70° during the day and only 60° at night with very little wind. Could not ask for better camping weather. And to top it all off we had a bald eagle looking over our camp the entire time under a full moon.
