Sir, I listened to your 14 min. spill. I appreciate your honesty in recording it and I can also relate. The meaning of Overlanding in my opinion can vary a wide spectrum depending on person. Level 1 Definition: you went down a dirt road in a honda civic and camped at a spot with no amenities or hook-ups and ate a sandwich. Level 10 Definition: you drive your $135k rig on 38” tires towing a $35k kitchen trailer down rutted rocky road and camp at a spot with no amenities or hook-ups and ate a grilled portobello with asparagus . Extra points for wearing outback style hat and long sleeve shirt with elbow patches. Do what fits you and keep on keeping on. I’m new kinda to the hobby myself, 2 years maybe, and I like the moving spot to spot but I like camp life too. So I mix it up, 2 days at each spot. I use a slide in truck camper so like you addressed, I gotta prep it if I wanna take a mid afternoon ride to explore. My fix for now, a Polaris Side by Side. Always enjoy rolling down trails with my pups hanging out the side, cold beer in hand and exploring new areas.
That you CBP, I appreciate you suffering through all that but it is nice to be able to talk without someone interrupting you. LOL Love the level 10 definition. Pretty much right on. :). Happy trails my friend.
