  • It is no secret that elbows in Muay Thai are brutal! The horizontal elbow is capable of packing a major punch compared to the vertical because it involves getting your whole body behind the strike, similar to throwing a hook. Key points to remember:
    1. Your opposite side hand will be up high about forehead level to protect you from any incoming strikes. If your close enough to elbow someone, they are close enough to elbow you!
    2. When throwing your elbow your hand will remained tucked in like you are trying to tuck your hand into your opposite side arm pit.
    3. Your arm and elbow will remain parallel with the floor.
    4. Remember when throwing your rear horizontal elbow to pivot on your rear foot to compensate for the extra distance from your opponent.
