Stop your Land Rover Discovery from breathing in its own Diesel Farts!! aka Exhaust gases!! By removing / bypass the EXHAUST GAS RECIRCULATION valves. Faulty EGR valves?? don't bother with EGR cleaning etc just cut them out!! Cheap and Easy!! AND on the LR3 no reprogramming needed.
Some say this is an MOT fail? After I did mine it passed the emissions test.. Just! But I live in France so I can't say for other countries etc.
This is an easy modification with many benefits... Apparently?? so I thought I'd give it a try and share the process and results with you guys.
This kit is compatible with TDV6 2.7 models with the 10th digit of the Vin number 6 or 5. If the Vin number is 7 or higher the kit will likely fit but the MIL will remain lit to indicate an EGR fault.

Just did this on a VW TdI. These engines suffocate themselves and in the long run, they than pollute and consume more fuel than necessary because of the wear. Ingenuity and complexity at its finest. Thx politicians and environmentalists! May you inhale your own farts, indeed!

Awesome!! Glad it helped... Just be carful of the little gaskets when you remove the EGR pipes as I dropped one of mine. It's a bit tight down there so It's not easy. Just a heads up and good luck

I decided to delete the egr valve in my d3 . I bought the kit and opened the bonnet ......it had already been done ha ha . Btw I really like your style......do it 👍 edit.....this video is a year old and still not at 1k subs ....cmon people are you not entertained?
What we do here in South Africa is do the EGR delete, remove the CATS from the exhaust and a ECU remap. On my D3 I got 6.9lt/100km consumption after doing all those mods plus it pulled like a train ;)

Wesley, die D3 het absoluut geen error codes gegee nie en ek het omtrent 80k km opgesit met dit gedoen. TorqueTune in Joburg het hom ge-remap en hulle is die beste. Gaan na Landyworx toe in Randburg ;)

Just a tip you can do the same thing but for 2p instead of buying a kit which if seen in an mot test it will fail

Thanks mate... I believe the butterfly valve is a cut off for the air intake when the EGR opens. In keeping with my intro explanation its a bit like pinching your nose so you get 100% fart gas! Yummy!! NO EGR means no Butterfly as it will cut off the air

@@peterandrews7756 Diesel engines don’t use means of controlling air intake, they regulate speed by injecting more or less fuel, air intake is always fully open

Great video. I didn't know you could get blanking kits for Disco's of this type. Why replace the valves every few years when you can do this. It is a no-brainer.

I'm thinking about doing this on my landrover discovery 4 BUT will it fail the dreaded MOT especially for the emissions test and can an MOT inspector tell if the egr has been blanked or not. Also is it definitely better for the engine?

EGR is such pain. Mine is living it’s own life, it’s throwing the code at me lighting the MIL on and off. Doing that even after installing a new one. So the problem is probably elsewhere in the system. Can’t be bothered to keeping throwing money at it. Need to do an software delete and be don with it. Only it’s highly illegal 🙈
I blanked mine off age’s ago but never removed the butterfly. Guess I need to get the bonnet back up. Wonder if that’s why the engine management light is on.

Question about fuel consumption:
You say the car went from 8.8 to 10 liters for 100km, which is actually worse than before the operation...
Your dashboard shows 10 km on 1 liter so I guess you mean it went from 8.8 to 10 km on 1 liter.
That would be an incredible gain of almost 14 percent... I find that hard to believe.
Going to do the operation anyways to stop fauling up the engine.
Yes you are correct... I get confused as each of my cars records consumption differently. I had been on some longer drives which would help the stats for sure but no matter what I tried before I could never get near those results. I also gave the car a full service and replaced all the brake components which were in really bad shape and causing resistance. The dirt it caused in the engine!! Defo worth getting it done and good luck

Are you saying that you are in fact getting 'worse' mileage now than you did with the EGR's fitted.
That is .. you used to consume 8.8Lt/100km now it's around 10?
So the outcome is 'worse' for fuel consumption but 'better' with regards to the exhaust gasses re-entering the engine and clogging it up.

Can I do this on my Discovery IV SDV6? There are no difference design on air intake and butterfly parts, so any error message pop up on screen? In this case when finishing, EGR parts are no longer required or need to be replaced? Do we need DPF oil or just ignore this? Link to buy this part please?

I think you can do the delete but on top of the blanking kit you will need to have the ECU programmed to not trigger a fault light etc. The newer models were a bit smarter and not easily tricked

Once this is done do you need to let it warm up on cold start bet setting off or no need for it
No mate, just as normal... I always just give the glow plugs a chance to heat up on a cold day as you would normally and hit Start!! Broom off you go 👍

If the valves still operate they will still fail even if they are blanked off.

Mine was a 2006 and it took a 4 hours ish but thats with filming etc... Without it would take 2 hours if you give it all a good clean etc.

If I blank off the egr valves wont it keep coming up with a egr fault and put the car into limp mode ...already having trouble with it doing so now..
I see blanking them off is a better option just need to know how to overcome engine fault light if it throws it up

No mate, on the 06/07 models you can get away with no reprogramming. Hence no lights 👍
Is ECU remap needed after EGR delete?
Remove the butterfly flap enables straight air which does not trigger EGR response because you are replacing the dirty air caused by the butterfly flap ,
If not you have to delete the EGR in the ECU,
The theory is diesel burns different

No warning lights... mine was a 07 but check the 10th digit of your Vin number. If it’s a 6 or a 7 your ok for warning lights

You did not say that EGR valve delete only works on models before 2008 ,I bought the kit you recommended for my 2009 disco 3 and found out the soft wear on newer models can not be over ridden with this kit , cost me a lot of grief .
If you have the GAP IID tool I believe you can patch the software yourself, pretty easy to do. They cost around £400 but can do a lot of fault finding and software fixes yourself.
Do your own research, it’s not his responsibility. He even said that this isn’t a “How to video”
you can sort this by drilling a 7mm hole into the blanking plate that goes on the egr side of the hose. that way the engine is fed a very small ammount to trick the computer into thinking it is working as normal.
MOT FAIL WITHOUT THAT VALVE EGR
Is that because of the emissions test? Mine past here in France and it is normally EU standard. Mind you mine only just scraped through. Also because the EGR didn't need ECU deleted there were no red flags on the stystem. Thanks for the input
