How to Store Fruits and Vegetables the Right Way

- Everyone’s food-buying habits have changed, to say the least, since mid-March. People can’t grocery-shop as frequently as they used to, at least not for a while. And though it might feel most practical to beeline to the frozen and canned sections of the store (or freeze the food you buy), we think the snap of fresh greens or the crunch of raw carrots is worth making the effort for. One of the big challenges right now is keeping those perishables fresh for weeks once you get them home. A good strategy is to choose hardy produce that can withstand time, and to learn how to properly (and creatively) store it for maximum shelf life. So let's run down the produce, storage methods, and gear that will (hopefully) keep you stocked with fresh fruits and vegetables.

You know you’re getting old when stuff like this starts to excite you
I knew I was going down hill when I got a fruit bowl instead of going to the pub.
This is an excellent Dragnet video...just the facts, maam. Uncluttered presentation without all the embellishment of 'theatrics'. Very informative in the best (quick) way. Learned more from this than all the other 'entertainment' click bait blurbs combined. Thank you very much! (Now go wash your hands and stay safe.)
I’m gonna need a lot more fridges 😬
Great information as always!
Thank you so much!
Thanks, that was helpful for me.
must be nice to have a dedicated apple & pear drawer :)
Hi, am assuming all these tips apply for spring summer season when most of these fresh veggies are available. What's the general temp in your place? Am wondering if your tips would also apply in a tropical country? like where I am - in the Philippines.
My parents suggest to store vegetables that grow during rainy season and put outside the fridge to those fruits born in summer like watermelon, melons. vegetables from baguio or tagaytay should be in fridge.
Clam shells of berries??
Do ethylene producing fruits belong next to each other? If I have a dozen oranges in the same bowl, will they ripen faster than a dozen oranges in a dozen bowls?
What about peaches, plums and apricots?
Nice video. How do you store kiwi?
What about bananas??
