The drums evoke a notion of the military. Soken with a goddamn slam dunk on this OST! So many tracks from the FF16 soundtrack are in my day-to-day listening rotation.
FFXVI was my first FF game that I've ever played and this area specifically hooked me up, when you are roaming greatwood you can hear a slowly piano playing in the background and as soon as you enter combat this drops 1:14 got the chills truly amazing game
Idk, this theme is special really. Clive has just earned his freedom after being a slave soldier for 13 years. He’s been reunited with his childhood friend and is chasing after who he thinks is his brother’s murderer. This music feels like a chase. The drums are driving, the melody is somber. It’s almost sad in a way. Clive only wants to avenge his brother at this point, that’s the only thing keeping him going. And I think this track reflects this point. Of course, Clive develops and his views shift. It is a shame the main battle theme is 16 bells for a big chunk of the game though, they could have sprinkled in more of the other tracks.
magical. hearing this transition from soft to the orchestra version is just something I never really experienced before. had to stop a couple of times in this zone to appreciate the music. probably the best in the game.
Rebirth was fine though. The combat at least held until the end of the game. 16’s combat for me got very stale after a certain point. It was…. ok. The only redeeming part were the bosses that made the combat interesting.
It is a shame such an amazing ost is only in The Greatwood area which is very short like 20 mins max, it should have been used more often in the rest of the game, I spent 85 hours in the game and completely forgot about it until I returned to play the stage from the monolith and I was amazed by both the normal and battle themes.
This track slaps! I love the way in which the tinkling piano melody motif of Lovely, Dark and Deep - The Greatwood is translated into stronger hitting instruments like the violin and brass. It just hits even better. I really wish this track played more through the game - it's one of my favourite battle tracks.
Someone put me out of my misery 😢 Is this the only time we get this track? It brings out a rage. Xiii-2 did that thang. Exploring music then violent versions for battles. I love it all.
Other than an orchestrion roll, yes, but you can see it here as many times as you want 😅better yet here: rumble.com/v2y3fec-final-fantasy-16-ost-035-the-greatwood.html rumble.com/v2y3hb6-final-fantasy-16-ost-036-the-greatwood-battle.html

There are really kind of a lot of them actually, some of the rest of them are on my Rumble (and that's where all the rest of them will go when I'm done)
It actually is included in the official soundtrack. It’s the 25th track called “Lovely, Dark, And Deep - The Greatwood” It starts off normally and transitions into The Greatwood battle theme partway through.
Oh I didn't know you were talking about apple music I just know the official soundtrack has been out since sometime in July @@Ladyblossom9000 All that said, I doubt they'll ever release all the tracks in the game even once it's all said and done, but I will so there's that too.
Zero RPG elements. No party combat mechanics. Repetitive story structure (fight enemies in new area, return to Hideaway, fight Eikon, repeat. Cookie cutter, pointless sidequests with almost no meaningful rewards. No challenge even from S rank hunts, the game is super super easy. F-bombs thrown in out of place just for the sake of swearing. The story absolutely drops off 2/3 of the way through. TONS of pointless dialogue, NPCs literally do not stop talking. I could go on and on. Positives: graphics are great, music is pretty dang good, and the combat is fun, although becomes repetitive pretty quick. Some fights, like Bahamut, are amazing. Just super disappointing for a Final Fantasy. Have no idea why they just tossed out the series legacy as an RPG and just made a straight up action game with more cutscenes than gameplay.@@Manwes_Inspiring_Trax

Soon as I heard 1:15 I knew I'd end up liking this game. 😆
I believe 16 will got BEST soundtrack of the year
I haven't heard all the soundtracks from all the games that came out this year but boy I'll be darned if this isn't a contender for best for sure!
Depends on several other releases.
I thought it was going to be Octopath Traveler II for sure. Then I played this…
I believe it will get a Grammy
After the ambition trailer i was like. Hell yes, Best music score right here. I believe it will win on Dec 8. I firmly believe it
I really freaking love the transition when going in and out of battle
those are so good, i like trying to time finishing the battle so it's a bit more cinematic
so fireeeeeee
Best thing about this track is how the normal Greatwood music blends into it when you start fighting.
It's pretty cool for sure!
Reminds me of Fire Emblem !
@@adrianmangubat6058 oh dang yeah I can see that
I love when they transition the map theme into a battle theme. They did it a lot in FF7R too.
This is one of my faves from FF16
Xiii-2 had an "aggressive" version to every field track. They should of done this even more. When those strings kick in oh man
"This is stupid...I like wolves..."
Yeah, same here cid...🥺
😁
I don't think they care, Cid.
Was in awe when this shit started playing
Seriously. Me too
that violin part with the drums is so goddamn good
oh man yes. Yes it is.
FF16 tracks are so motivating man
cant belive i witniss this peak music in my life.
thx square
One thing final fantasy manage to nail every time is the music...
Almost always memorable
This is my favourite regular battle theme in the game. Sucks it's not heard that often, but its rarity probably contributes to why I like it so much.
I'm enamored with it as well and yeah that could be why xD
Man, this song is beyond beautiful. Driven so hard by the percussion, but still so much space for the melody to breathe. Wonderful!
💯
There was so many times playing this game where I just lingered in an event to continue listening to the music
@@Graciousgates can't blame you one bit!
The cinematic clashes with the Midnight Raven go so HARD.
Heck yeah they do lol that's probably why I chose to put them to this xD
Agreed, absolutely left me stunned.

Welcome to the final fantasy family ^_^
I came in from FF7 Remake, Rebirth, now FF16. I can’t believe I slept on this franchise.
I love the violin part 1:14
That and the percussion. It's so...Foresty and Junglely
I finished the game yesterday this was this was my Favorite track out of the entire game. Especially the non-battle version.
I would have liked this song to be the main fighting theme. I really enjoy this music.
Yeah it's just too peaceful for that is all 😅

Imma call it rigged if FF16 doesnt win Best soundtrack or something
Almost everything is almost always rigged so we can just agree with each other and whomever else that it's the best and leave it at that, eh? 😅
The goat won it!
After playing FFVII Rebirth this game looks like a goddamn masterpiece.
Rebirth was fine though. The combat at least held until the end of the game. 16’s combat for me got very stale after a certain point. It was…. ok. The only redeeming part were the bosses that made the combat interesting.

Yo how do you see your game-play time?
Gameplay time can be seen in the Game Hub before you start up the game.
Totally agree
They actually made this theme better with this battle version, amazing
This song hits harder especially on Final fantasy difficult and also Arcade Ultimania.
Yes, yes it does!
This one is a true banger. Love how every instrument sounds and the melody itself is incredible

Haha i do the same thing!
I need to see this live at a distant worlds show!!!!
Would be amazing!
And the amazing thing about it are the calm version from it when you start fight turn to this version with every smoothness on earth
😆
Great music from a great part of the game palling around with the best supporting character before Clive turns into Dracula.
😆

You got it man! Even more on Rumble! Hope to see you there ^_^/
Anyone know why this is the only unique battle theme that matches the area?
There are several dungeon battle themes that go with their ambient counterparts (not sure if that's what you mean though)
Tune was a cracker, really pumped ya up while kicking some ass
Fo sho!
Love this verison!!!
This theme was so under utilized.. we only got it once 😢
Ikr? Luckily it's here and on Rumble in case it gets removed from here (pretty sure it will)
is clive wielding the sword from FF1's Warrior of light???
Maybe actually haha
Sounds a lot like the normal battle music. Just like old FFIV did. Did they force you to use the same ryhthm again?
It does get better though : )
Someone knows when the complete album Will available ?
I think it is already but my version is still being worked on and probably won't be done for another several weeks. Follow me on Rumble for updates!
