You definitly should listen to the Album version with Clare Torry. Never surpassed by any singer.
Clare Torry is the OG when it comes to this track, she came up with this almost on the spot!
Agreed. The original Claire Torry version has a lot more visceral emotion. The live version is okay as well, but it's obvious they are trying to replicate the original. I always recommend the original to a first time listener.
tout a fait daccord
Only took around 3 takes if I remember,
Great reaction, I subbed you because there are certain songs that shouldn't be paused every ten seconds!
both versions are just amazing...RIP claudia fontaine...
You need to hear the entire album to get a complete feel for this song.
Or at least the song immediately preceding this one: Time
The goal was to express the 5 stages of grief without saying a word! This is a fantastic song and fantastic concept!
That was the result, but Clare knew nothing about that when she laid down the vocals.
This is from the album Dark Side Of The Moon, there is a reason it has spent 988 weeks on the charts, that is 988 over 14 years. Think you should do the album version but that's just me.
Wonderful performance, isn't it?
These singers, they poured their souls into this.
Oh yeah 👍
The ability to say everything while saying nothing. That’s this song.
Clare Torry studio is the quintessential version! Beautiful!
She also did live versions as well.
pink floyd is music for the soul
It follows the track "Time" on the album so if you want some context..... 😉
The first singer was Sam Brown. She is more than only a background singer!
Everyone should listen to the original studio version of this. That was pure magic. Any vocalist since has only been an homage.
Clare Torry is a must…. It’s her song ❤️
Here come the hoards telling you need to hear Clare Torry's album version...
👍
controversial but I prefer this version. Sam Brown amazing.
@@dillonfloyd
Me too.
Should here the original as well for it's own merit...
Most Floyd fans love both versions.
All I am going to say is, Pink Floyd - Echoes- live concert in Gdansk, or Live At Pompeii. Either version is a masterpiece of its own.
Shine on you crazy Diamond by Pink Floyd ❤
Check out Time, Comfortably Numb and Wish You Were Here from the Pulse Concert to get more context on Pink Floyd and their amazing soundscapes.
You would absolutely love the studio version of this song on the Dark Side of the Moon album. There is only one vocalist and she did it in 2 takes.
The Powerfull!!!!!! Pink Floyd!!!!!!!! Im 70!! Still Rock n Roll!!!!!!!!!!! Till ☠️💀☠️!!!!!!
Pink Floyd makes the greatest concept albums. Listening to a Pink Floyd album is an experience. Please do full album reviews. 🤞✌️
Album version is uniquely powerful cuz it was created on the spot
I think it's interesting that each singer starts her segment at the note (pitch?) that the previous singer ended on.
As an older gentleman Pink Floyd is right in my wheelhouse where popular music is concerned. I've heard this song (indeed the entire album) hundreds of times and this song never fails to give me goosebumps - even when listening on my car radio with plain run of the mill ordinary speakers. I appreciate where you said it made you think of a child crying. This song always made me think about a baby - a brand new baby being born - from that babies perspective it is being suddenly torn from its perfectly safe and comfortable existences in the mothers womb - being literally pushed out and into a cold harsh brightly lit place - wailing in fear and confusion and then being lain sweetly warmly into his mothers arms and finding comfort once again. - by the way I just subscribed to your channel.
Oh and another thing - if the vocal gymnastics in this some moved you (and I know it did) I highly recommend you play and react to "Child In Time" by Deep Purple.
The second singer always does it for me in this performance ❤️ three great performances.
That's Durga McBroom and I agree (personal opinion). The first singer was Sam Brown and the last was Claudia Fontaine.
Only Pinl Floyd could make a song without words a success.
Hi Emma! 細心の曲だけでなく、過去の名曲もリアクションするあなたの選曲が大好きです。
Dark Side of the Moonからの選曲ですね。このアルバムは本当に素晴らしくて、何度聞き返したかわからないぐらいです。
最初から最後までよい曲ばかりなので、ぜひアルバムを通して聴いていただきたいです。
A child's cry...That's perfect, I can hear that as well.
dying and birth, the eternal circle
Pink Floyd is the only band I know that would give the backup singers a song of their own to sing.
But they didn't. They brought in a "known outsider" (somebody knew of her) who they were told; could wail like a bastid. But that person didn't play live with them.
@@user-nd6bl1hm8i Yes they brought in Clare Torrey to sing on the original album track. But how does that negate the fact that Floyd had their backup singers sing this track in the concert performance?
Yes please need to listen to Album version with Clare Torry.
This is the time the background singers get the LEAD
Coming Back to Life.
Great reaction! Thanks for this moment
No problem 😊
I would suggest lots more Pink Floyd from this Pulse concert. Excellent live performances.
Love how the other singers were added.
It takes more than one singer to get close to Torry's version.
My favourite from the album (Dark Side of the Moon) is Us and Them.
Just saying.
🥰🤩🤩😍😍😍😍😍😛😋😇wow fantastic Emma you are falling down the rabbit hole with pink Floyd every song makes you want to see more tons of songs all hits great reaction Emma
Oh!!! Thank you for your comment 😘😘😘
Goose bumps..Gorgeous Emma
the blonde vocalist is Sam(antha) Brown..........she is spectacular !
Saw it live WOW
All the girls were told was to sing the emotions they would feel if they were going through the five steps of death starting with an denial down to acceptance. It's very emotional. It's goosebump time. Lol
The original on the album was done by one woman, Claire Torry.
... and improvised on the spot in just a couple of takes.
I love them adding the black singers too
OH! THANK YOU FOR SHARING!!!
@@JaquelineGoodspeed All three singers were the backup singers for the tour - Sam Brown (the blonde), Durga McBroom and Claudia Fontaine. They sang the whole concert. Clare Torry sang (and improvised) on the original album track.
really RIck??????? Wow, nobody knew that. Thanks for coming!!!!
I saw the female singer in Brit Floyd do the original part perfectly. Amazing.
It's about struggling with and then finally accepting death.
If Sam, Claudia and Durga came up with the original version, then people would say Claire’s version wasn’t as good. Honestly I think both are just as spectacular.
This is where i found my true fremdom
# 홧팅 🍒🙆♂️))
The whole Dark side of the moon album is a trip within.
Octavarium - Dream Theater 🎧👂
Fear, denial, resistance, acceptance, death.
Wish You Were Here.
The Original Album version is a MUST listen, and also, on top of that, furthermore, you are beautiful!
Oldie but a goldie 😂😂😂
Listen to the studio version with Claire Torry, the one women who captured every nuance and emotion of this song beyond compare all by herself in just a few takes.
Ok!!! Thank you for your suggestion!!!
The back up or should I say lead singers for this performance at Pulse and some of their other performances are Sam Brown, Claudia Fontaine, Durga McBroom . Thanks
I always think the audio of the man sounds like Antony Hopkins
Floyd is way ahead of their time.
For all time
When you want to escape
The original is the best.
Nice reaction. I always thought this version did a good job of representing the confusion of standing in front of the Pearly Gates. Do I go in, do I stay out, back and forth until you finally relax and step on through.
❤
Check out Godley and Creme “Cry” you won’t be disappointed.
Excellent reaction, thank you. Please react to "High Hopes" from their Pulse concert
These vocals were improvised in real time by Clare Torry. The singers in the live version are just interpreting Clare's improvisations. You truly must hear the original album version.
OOOoooooohhhhh, really???????? We never knew that!!!!!!!!!! Thanks for sharing!!!!
As I'm sure has been suggested before I got here, go into the background of this song. Part of a concept album, "DARK SIDE OF THE MOON" if I'm remembering correctly from the day. The wordless vocals of Clare Tory on the original album express the 5 stages of dying, defined as: Denial, Anger, Bargaining, Depression, & Acceptance -- Look up interviews & specials on the recording, as Roger Waters described it in the wake of their essentially giving Clare Tory NO clear instruction on what they wanted from her in the studio, a "HAPPY ACCIDENT" -- or maybe GENIUS on Clare Tory's part. By the way, I'm pretty SURE that his HER on the opening vocal segment, and all the singers do SUCH GREAT interpretations of those segments they are entrusted with. -- PS - at 4:20-ish your comment: "reminds me of a child's cry" -- When we die, we're ALL wailing children, aren't we.............?
Welcome to the floyd
I’ll never need therapy
I have Pink Floyd
goosebumps, goosebumps...:):)
Oh yea
Next please reaction Ariel Noah cover Adelle someone like you live konser, band legend from Indonesia 😊
check out comfortably numb from pulse
Sam Brown is smokin this song!!!!!!
Two Suns in the Sunset.
This was on heavy play after losing both my parents. I think about their last moments here on earth before going to the Lord.
Would love to see you do a reaction from the same concert of the song. High Hopes. David plays a solo on the same instrument you seen in this video called a steel guitar or a lap guitar it is an amazing performance hoping to see you do it I have high hopes of you doing a reaction to it
The 3 verses are meant to represent the 3 stages of life. Birth, living, and Dying.
its a song about fighting and acceptance of death
Although this is a great version of the song, the studio version with Clare Torry is worth checking out also!
This live version is on another level compared to the studio version. Far better.
Check Us and them from the same concert.
Roger Waters. Molly's Song with Doreen Chanter.
diana ankudinova - dune soundtrack reaction..
Have you reviewed Shine on You Crazy Diamond? To me it’s a modern day Requiem.
Wow! I’m interested!
Hooohooohoooohooohooohooohoohoo
You have to do the studio version. Only song that makes me cry.
Wot's Uh the Deal.
You need to hear Claire Torrey from the original version ... the originator.
this isnt the original performance, its a recorded gig FFS, 20 years after the original.
Please react AINA ABDUL cover I SURRENDER Celine Dion❤❤❤
Very nice, but the original vocalist was the best of all on this song..... should listen to the studio version
Check out. Without Me by Evol Walk❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤😂❤
The Unforgiven by Metallica please
Have a Cigar.
This song is about coming to terms with a terminal diagnosis.
Hey Emma please react on Sidhu moosewala He is a world class Singer total 184 countries listen his music please react on him ❤❤
I was going to watch it until I saw the live version, I'm out.
I asked you to listen to the lena park song before, but you didn't see it. If you have a chance, please listen to it.
Ok!!!) will do!! 🙏 thank you for your suggestion!!!
I still think the 88 version live is better
This is great of course. But listen to the original/studio version...and keep going down the Pink Floyd rabbit hole...
I prefer Rachel Fury than Sam Brown’s intro
The blonde is the great Sam Brown. Though the Clare Torry album version is more popular with the masses, here Sam goes further into the emotional register with this version than Clare ever did.
There is nothing more emotional than Clare - nothing at all.
This is phenomenal but for me Clare Torrey is still the best
Brain Damage/Eclipse.
