Screaming 😂 I see I forgot to cut out me trying to tame my wild hair at the beginning of the video 🤣🤣 Well, then you know what happens behind the scenes. Hugs! ❤
Well, firstly, hair looks great, please show it off as much as you like. Secondly, I have heard that starting a youtube video with a behind the scenes moment actually drives engagement. Go take a look and see how often youtubers do it. I am not making it up.
Clare Torry, the original vocalist during the recording of the album, was told only, by the band that she was to represent vocally and without words the five emotional stages one goes through when are dying. First, Denial, than Anger, Bargaining, Depression and finally Acceptance. She improvised this masterpiece in just two takes.
Yep. The producers didn't give him much information about what the recording was really about. I saw her interview many years later. She didn't know she would be part of a masterpiece.
Clare's mind-blowing performance of "Great Gig in the Sky" is on the album "Dark Side of the Moon." She set the mark to be topped by anybody who cared to try. This trio performed a wonderful rendition, as soul-stirring as Ms. Torry's so many years ago. Both versions are entirely captivating and beautiful.
I love this version and no matter how many times I hear it I cry, it's just so beautiful. I love the original version for it's raw, spontaneous beauty, but this one is polished and just gets me deep in the heart every time.
agree. non-popular opinion: this is better than studio version. Especially the first woman and the second. The first is like anger, fear, fight etc. the second lady represents grief, sadness, crying for something, acceptance with the fate. they complement each other perfectly.
Absolutely, I guess for me it’s the visual effects as well, the voices are so powerful but being able to visualize their emotions just blows me over. To me this the best version, hands down!!!
This is a song about death and grief. As you notice as the song proceeds the absolute pain and shock slowly becomes acceptance and slow healing. BRILLIANT!
I was at the Knebworth 90 concert where Floyd headlined. No of us could work out who the extra female backing singer was. That was until she stepped forward and sang this. Yes it was Claire!
The song of pain, being frightened and scared of death, fighting to stay and not accept the inevitable. Then it finally hits - submission to the inevitable that we all face - that's what it's saying to me. the journey within to find peace and acceptance. I have seen them live many times over the years, but I still get goosebumps and teary eyes - just like you - welcome to the Pink Floyd world.

How refreshing!! I've listened to this since the album first came out - too often as I drive - and in the past week I've watched and listened to a couple dozen reactions. Yours is so refreshing in that - and I speak for myself - you didn't interrupt with 'wow' all the time, but gave us a continous hearing, with your deep thoughts and sympathetic reactions as subs. Well done. I'm going to search for more from you, young lady!
What a great idea......listening to the song without stopping the build ups and just writing what you are thinking....this is how everyone should be doing this. Not sure if you are the first o do this but it will be pleasing a lot of us who like to watch. Perfect perfect perfect
The studio version is amazing. One singer. That said, this is great. I love it when David stop playing, he turns and watch. Remember that those are technically backing singers. Pink Floyd put then in the spotlight in on of the best concert ever and one of the best song ever. What an opportunity for the ladies to shine, and shine they did.
Yup, that one gets me every time... David stops playing, puts the slide down, and just sits back and enjoys Claudia's singing just like he was another audience member
@@conan5885 Really, another kind of artist would have walked off stage to grab something to drink and relax. David stayed and watched respectfully. He has played the song countless times with countless people and still loves it. He also looks like the type who is very humble and respectful towards everybody.
Hell Yeah!!!!!!!! I grew up listening to the Awesome Powerful Pink Floyd!!!!!!!!!!!! Takes me way back!!!!!!! Great Memories!!!!!!!! I'm 70 now Still Rock n Roll!!!!!!!!! On a Natural High!!! now , If u know what I mean, Ha!!
this is a song about the stages of dying, 1. fighting 2. accepting 3. the end. The narration at the beginning talks about not being afraid to die (listen closely). Pink Floyd always tell a story, even without words.
When you were born!! Damn, The Dark Side of the Moon was released in 1973, the year I graduated high school. Yea, I'm an old fart! I think this is the BEST rock album EVER!!!! And you selected this version, good job girl. David is playing a lap steel guitar. AND these ladies sing their guts OUT!! AND at 6:20 something David stops playing and just watches her finish singing!! SO powerful....... Pink is great!!!!! Peace to you! And Merry Christmas!!!!!! Take care and stay safe!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It does make sense!!! But I suggest you allow it to settle into you AND sleep on it. Pink is a tad heavy at times!! They did./do things no one else did or do!!! Greatest rock band EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Bye...
Great reaction, Sabina. Pink Floyd has been my favorite band for over 50 years. You can't go wrong reacting to more songs from this great Pulse concert. All of them are stunning, but some have that extra glow: Comfortably Numb, Wish You Were Here, Another Brick In The Wall, One Of These Days, and Run Like Hell. Hope you can get to them soon.
Yup, get exactly what you're saying. Wonderful to watch people enjoying Pink Floyd for the first time. I recommend you put on the headphones, stretch out somewhere comfortable, turn off the lights, and listen to Dark Side of the Moon start to finish without interruption.
Great reaction Sabina!! Besides the original (with Clare Torry singing the entire thing) this is my favourite version!! Sam Brown (first), Durga McBroom (second), Claudia Fontaine (third & regretfully RIP!) are the 3 lovely and marvelous voices that bring this to life!! Let the tears flow!! I know I do. It's a song all about dying...so the emotion is all tied to that. This song, on a really great sound system, in a dark room, eyes closed is like a religious experience! Cheers.
Hello Sabina your hair looks like great 😊 I saw Pink Floyd with this show in 1994 in Berlin it was absolutely outstanding. I am Floyd fan since 1977 for me one of the best group of all time
The studio/Claire Torrey version is the best. It was a once in a lifetime performance that has still not been duplicated. That you must react to live when you hear it for the first time.
This is by far one of my favourite Pink Floyd songs, along with "Wish You Were Here" and "Set The Controls To The Heart Of The Sun (Live At Pompeii)".❤
So the first woman is the original artist on the album from the 1970s. The did the recording in two takes. "The Great Gig In The Sky" is slang for when you die and go to heaven. So what they asked her to do was express 3 emotions of what it would sound like if you were told you were going to die. "I am not frightened of dying, you know Any time will do, I don't mind Why should I be frightened of dying? There's no reason for it, you've gotta go sometime" First lyrics ( recording) of the song. 1 woman -expresses anger that she learns she is going to die (original singer on album) Clare Torry hence the red lighting of her anger. 2 woman - is expressing acceptance of knowing she will die and at the end of her vocals, you can her a woman say at 5:13 " I never said I was frightened of dying" 3 woman- Is at peace knowing she will die and is not afraid anymore
These young ladies certainly did a fine job with the musical performance. However, the original can never be duplicated. It was a unique once in a lifetime performance. Jus say'n.
My favorite band of all time and This was my fav concert of all time. Their stunning vocals taking u thru the stages of death without a word. Powerful and beautiful. Thanx much, Peace
The first vocalist in this video is Sam Brown. She has sung a lot on backing vocals with Harry Moore, George Harrison, Small Faces, Spandau Ballet, Adam Ant, Jon Lord (from Deep Purple), Pink Floyd, David Gilmore, The Firm, Doji and Nick Cave. Brown released her debut album Stop! in 1988, and in this regard, she released several studio albums, one live album, one EP and three compilations, as well as three albums as part of the Homespun band. In 2007, she had serious problems with her singing voice, after which she stopped recording and singing live. Sam founded a ukulele club in 2010 and has expanded to several clubs in Oxfordshire, Dorset, London and online that continue to thrive.
Great, great reaction to another iconic Pink Floyd performance. Thank you, thank you, Sabina! Dark Side of the Moon is best consumed in one full-course meal, but I know that's hard to do in a single reaction.

Sabina, both you and the Floyd are wonderful! The word that comes to mind for me is authenticity both in their creation and in your reaction. I'm so happy that you mentioned the idea that singing preceded speaking in the development of human beings as a species as this is not a well-known theory (but one I have subscribed to for many years). You also mentioned that you had some difficulty in finding the right words to describe how you felt but I think this is perfectly understandable. Music is beyond words since it is the fundamental source of communication and speech (and words) are derived from them. Neuroscientists tell us that the ability to create and appreciate music is found in the right hemisphere of the brain and speech in the left hemisphere. Thus, music makes itself heard without the need (and control) of speech. Sorry to prattle on!
For me, the vocals represent the process of the soul leaving the body. At first, it's fighting to stay, then the anguaish of losing the battle, eventually turning to acceptance.
And to think that the original vocalist just improvised this in the studio, and thought at first that she had turned out a performance that disappointed the band. In reality, they were all awestruck and speechless and so really didn't say anything to her as she was leaving.
This wonderful classic draws you in and given there’s no lyrics still takes you on an emotional journey as do many other Pink Floyd songs. For me they’re the GOAT and that concert still stands the test of time and is amazing
So many versions of this and every single one of them is outstanding. It makes me think of my lost sister as she was leaving this life . Try the same song in Venice.
I am 70 and listening to Pink Floyd since 1973, it's timeles music. They are comming to the Netherlands in september, tryed to get tickets but they are sold out in no time so now going to a coverband.

And to think that originally, this track was only going to be used to fill the remaining space on side A of the vinyl. What a wonderful way to fill an empty space.
Another example of how Dark Side of the Moon was one of the first concept albums. This is an outstanding performance, but as others have pointed out, it's Clare Torry on the studio recording that is the one that is considered the best. To really get the full impact of Dark Side is to listen from beginning to end non-stop, laying back with headphones, and whatever will help you chill-lax.
Hello. This is a live version many many years after the album Dark Side Of The Moon was released. The singer, Clare Torry, created the incredible sound on the song. You're listening to somebody who is just copying the originator. Please listen to the original album version.

On the album this track follows "Time" which perhaps adds some context.
This is a window to when time runs out.
Always beautiful!

And she had to fight for it, but finally got a writing credit & "undisclosed sum" for her work on top of the original 30 pound session fee.
Unfortunately the vocalists since that have missed the mark

This is a song about death and grief. As you notice as the song proceeds the absolute pain and shock slowly becomes acceptance and slow healing. BRILLIANT!
Clare Torry sung the whole vocal on her own. It took three singers here but brilliant job. The Pulse concert was simply perfection.
Clare recorded it in 2 takes and was paid £30! She did end up settling with Floyd for a wee bit more.

Hi, Sabina, love your natural appreciation for music. Your outer and inner beauty is amazing. 😊
And to think that originally, this track was only going to be used to fill the remaining space on side A of the vinyl.
What a wonderful way to fill an empty space.
Love your fiery hair.
Love the way you are doing written comments during the songs. Please react to other songs from Pusle Concert, I would enjoy it
Look forward to seeing you experience more Pink Floyd reactions.
I am sure others have explained what song is about. You really picked up on the emotional cues of light , instrumentation and vocalizations.
It’s about death , 3 stagesshock anger then acceptance
Just when I thought I was out, they pulled me back in. 😎
Sluuuurp!
Welcome Sabina sweetheart to Pink Floyd universe.. ❤
This is the best version by far i dont care if Sam wasnt the first or original singer
Hello. This is a live version many many years after the album Dark Side Of The Moon was released. The singer, Clare Torry, created the incredible sound on the song. You're listening to somebody who is just copying the originator. Please listen to the original album version.
I’m 68 and bloody well cried 😂 again . Must stop listening to this track (nah,!)
enjoyed that a ton. top tier level of quality. 😵
and just now October Ends dropped a banger 🔥 You gotta react to it!
I'm a big fan of Pink Floyd 😊
Amazing vocals by Sam Brown and the other lady i did not recognise. PinkFloyd is my all time Nr ONE band. Thank you.❤
Sam Brown, Durga McBroom and Claudia Fontaine....in that order.
@@edzeljereza8234 Thank's👍
I remember seeing Claire Torrey sing this with Floyd at Knebworth
