Perhaps an Circle closes up, as they start as acoustic Band, just because of Tarjas Voice, Empuu did bring up an E-guitar:)
@@alexandersteinmetz6857 I think his point was that its extremely hard songs to sing. I dont think many understand how hard they are.... Floor makes it sound easy, its becoming her weakness as people then dont understand how hard it is
@@Honken55 I absolutely get that, and i adore her for that not only but foremost in NW. My point is, that because of celebrating this extraordinary vocal intonations and Acrobatic on H:II:M, the Music-Songs, Scores on CD 1 left alone...just gets me thinking of it as an vehicle, to show off, interchangeable. Second Disc, wouldnt believe that before buying it, is my Favorite. I hope for the Live Versions. Again only my way to feel it, every else is fine.
I just found out that Floor is going to be performing solo and Nightwish on the same day this year at Pinkpop festival! Who does that??? Seriously, I don't think anyone else could pull that off given the difficulty of the songs she will be singing. There are simply no limits with Floor and its breathtaking to stand back and witness. I wish I could go to Pinkpop just to see her crush it twice in one day! Additionally, this is my favorite Nightwish opening song. It should be the textbook example for how to open an arena show. Just a brilliant opener for so many reasons.
@@chilly2gobasically for us too but we currently live in the land of Floor. In fact flew back from Tampa yesterday after spending Eastern with family and friends.
As someone who was lucky enough to be there i can vouch for the fact that this was the most amazing concert opener, whats more they followed it up with Yours is an empty hope, Ever dream and Storytime. Wow were we all stoked after that
Once again Eric, you can make a blind man see this song in vivid colors. Your analysis on these songs has no equals. Nightwish is the only group that can make real heavy so beautiful to listen 💥💥💥
About the topics, and I'm sure you have heard this by now, but... Tuomas wanted to be a marine biologist when he was younger. But went into music instead. Marko, he wanted to be an astronomer. Floor wanted to be a biologist. Emppu and Jukka, not sure about them, but they're clearly enjoying the ride. :) Troy looks like a druid who's in tune with the Earth and everything sacred about this place we inhabit, and is totally with the vibe. Kai seems like what an elvish blacksmith turned metal drummer would look like. Starting with Endless Forms Most Beautiful, a trilogy is forming and the third part of it has just been recorded in the studio, and is in production for the start of the next year.
In this concert, Kai Hahto was already behind the drum kit. Jukka and Kai are both brilliant, but you gotta love Kai´s drumming, that always compliments the song.
She is therefore more of an ambassador for the band. She undoubtedly marshals the audience like a general leading and inspiring her people before they storm the barricades.
This one has Floor's gorgeous lower register at the start (wonder what colours that elicited). Floor at 34, was at her peak in this concert. (Mind you, she's still there now.) Tuomas often puts those little runs and trills in the background. Superb. And I really love Marco's harmonies at the end.
@@jeannettesimpson9778 That's true and I almost said that, but Tuomas does do that quite a lot. Also odd little dissonant arpeggios and such - Yours is an Empty Hope is an example that most reactors don't comment on. Before the ethereal siren-like notes he does that.
Like others said, just the other day Floor did what many fans have been predicting for ages: Floor Jansen singing the phone book (Live NPO Radio2)..ua-cam.com/video/CLUr1DLwEQg/v-deo.html So now begins the wait for a "Best of.." collection of Floor-sung txt: #1 Phone book blues (check) #2 Assemble Me! Great commentary, as always. A “relentless onslaught” to start a show, indeed. I think you’re ready for The Greatest Show on Earth. More science textbook stuff on an even more epic scale. Most recommend the Tampere version. (And no… you’re not ready yet for the other ‘big one’)
04/11/2020 A tract of life-packed forests in Mexico saved with help from symphonic metal outfit Nightwish will be named after the band, World Land Trust (WLT) partner Grupo Ecológico Sierra Gorda (GESG) revealed during an Instagram Live chat with lead singer Floor Jansen last week. The Instagram chat, streamed live on Friday 30th October and now available on UA-cam (see below), was followed by nature supporters from all across the world. Broadcasting live from Sweden, Floor Jansen was joined by WLT CEO Jonathan Barnard from the UK and GESG General Director Martha Isabel “Pati” Ruiz Corzo and GESG Head of Conservation Roberto Pedraza Ruiz, a mother-and-son conservationist duo who tuned in from Mexico’s Sierra Gorda. The Dutch singer, Nightwish’s lead vocalist, was told of the endangered forests the band has helped save.
Shudder Before the Beautiful live at Wembley… one of the best concert openings I’ve ever seen. Ladies and gentleman…start your engines. The show has begun.😀🤘 What a “blow your mind” way to start a show! You just know you are going to have an awesome night🤘🤘🤘
This is one of three great openings from them ("Dark Chest Of Wonders", "Shudder Before The Beautiful" and now "Music" intro followed by "Noise" ). Shudder before the Beautiful is referring to the amazement and wonder we (The Travelers) should all feel regarding the natural world. It is all around us including the solar system and universe, which we are all a part of while traveling amongst the stars on this small spec of blue. This was from the Nightwish 2015 record, "Endless Forms Most Beautiful". many of the songs from this record revolve around a theme of wonder and appreciation for the natural world all around us. As you probably know from other comments, Nightwish members are very much nature lovers and ponder deeply about the universe, how it works, and our place within its grand workings. AND ,....If you think, This song is awesome ,.... you better prepare yourself !!!! Thank you Eric !!! NWSU 🤘😎🤘.
Eric, this is one of the songs that lets you know, beyond all doubt, that Tuomas is, as I like to call him, the "Metal Mozart." He really embodies the heart and soul of classical composers like Beethoven, Bach, and Mozart. The only difference is, they didn't have electricity to make metal music!
Why i love Nightwish.. Well, when you think that "oh ive seen/heard this before" but oh boy, you´re so wrong!! There´s allways something unexpedted element etc which will blow your mind.. They dont allways open up on first few times.. I know it, been a fan since their first gig ever back in 1997!!! And i still find new "stuff" on their music..
I mentioned this before, but you should really check out Tuomas’ solo project “A Lifetime of Adventure” where he writes a whole album about Scrooge McDuck. It is beyond epic!
Another concurrence! I just took some time to re-listen to that album (as did my neighbors) and yes! "A Lifetime of Adventure" it is literally watching a master, create a new work of art with a different set of tools.
Wonderful!! Nightwish at their best as always.Iam back from Tampere and Nightwish show in an outsold Nokia arena. A memory for life. Floor hade the flu but she was fighting as a tru Queen. She is a hero!! Thanks for this reaction. Top nodge as always!
Eric, Nightwish absolutely is affective in many ways. Some of their nerdiest songs are the ones that make me sob. Those big-picture subjects that really make you think, are absolutely, viscerally existential. There are tears of melancholy, tears of joy, and tears from the gut-punch lyrics. We're with you...you do not weep alone.
Tuomas is a musical genius, they all lovingly call him the Maestro, he loves pushing all of them and they love to make it happen for him, to make his vision real. When Floor was reading lyrics for the Human Nature song, she said to him, Tuomas when am I gonna be able to breathe, and he smiled at her and said, you will figure it out.
Again Eric, thank you! As you described Emppus guitar playing being seemingly easy, I could say the same about your talking. I like the tone of your voice, the sharpness of your comments and deepness of your knowledge about music. It seems easy, but as a person who makes living out of speaking I sure know It is not. And do not worry, it does not matter if it was Jukka or Kai, we love them both. ;)
every live video i've seen, every member every song from ever concert looks like they love what they are doing and love each other for there talents. zero egos from any of them. everyone of them only does what the music calls for nothing more nothing less.
One of the best parts of this arrangement is how it begins with that orchestral sound over the drums and a driving bass, and it already sounds really heavy, so that when the guitar and heavier bass tone come in, it's simply devastating...
Tuomas seem not be able to write a boring song EVER..! Behind every bend there is something new and exciting to explore or hear ..this is crazy good!! Thank you for your reaction to the song and as usual you do it better then everyone else on the tube ..love it..!
Hi Eric, I see you have not yet reacted to 'Ghost River' by Nightwish, i hope you are going to do that anytime soon because you are really missing something you don't want to miss! Kind regards Chantal 👌❤️
This reaction just DEMANDS Eric to react to The Greatest Show On Earth, Tampere. With his intelligence and ability to detect fleeting details in a blink, it will break him like nothing before. Who's with me on this?
This song, at this performance at Wembley Arena was my first ever introduction to Nightwish. I was lucky to pick up a spare ticket when someone had to cancel. I've been totally hooked ever since. I never thought any band could play live like this. And it carried on getting better through the show, ending with Dawkins himself on stage. Unforgettable. Oh, this is Kai on the drums, not Jukka. Kai was Jukka's teacher.
I saw this show about ten times in six countries on three continents. They always opened with SBTB, and there was always a huge roar when Floor came on stage. I was at Wembley, and the live DVD does not really reflect the loudness of the roar there, but I am glad you picked up on it anyway.
A song I recommend you listen to privately is Nightwish's Angels Fall First. It was off their first album and it is without doubt the song (out of all songs I've ever heard) that most represents my grief after my brother died. I spend some time on the anniversary listening and just letting myself weep.
You are providing us with the best reactions on Nightwish on yt. Appreciate the honest approach in your feedback with so much musical aspects and comparisons. Keep up the great work :)
I love your reactions. Detailed. Specific. And Emotional. Your lifetime of working with music in radio and your passion for those who perform at an exceptional level move me. Outstanding.
They are starting the 2022 tour tonight ! Can't wait 💜 . Love your reactions keep them coming! Nightwish has also helped me through a very tough last year !
Nightwish huge world tour starts today. Some real explosive Fire Works coming this year. This is truly a New Era, Updated stage shows with unbelievable live performances. Family Nightwish coming like a Freight Train.
Recommended from this same concert: the song that followed this one, "Yours Is An Empty Hope" (you'll hear something new from Floor!) and "7 Days To The Wolves", another that builds and becomes relentless. Also, Tuomas not only composes fantastic, intricate music and wrote the lyrics for a science textbook, he did it in a foreign language!
I concur. Eric, Yours is an Empty Hope from Wembley would be the natural one to follow up on your current reaction.... watch and listen to Floor very carefully in this one 😀😀😀😀
As usual, great reaction and insight. I really appreciate your perspective diving into these songs. I don't think I have much to add about the reaction itself to what others have already said, so I'll touch on something else. With regards to Nightwish songs that may hit you in ways you'd at least like to be prepared for, you'll probably want to ready yourself if you listen to How's the Heart, Poet and the Pendulum (particularly the third and fifth movements, although the fourth will hit in its own way), While Your Lips Are Still Red, Turn Loose the Mermaids, The Crow, the Owl, and the Dove, and probably Rest Calm. Additionally, you seem to be moved by music in ways I tend to be as well, so based on my own experiences, you'll probably want to at least have tissues handy for The Greatest Show on Earth (I personally am moved to tears every single time during the last minute or two), Élan, Our Decades in the Sun, Edema Ruh, Harvest, Procession, and the last movement of All the Works of Nature Which Adorn the World, Ad Astra (although the entire piece is incredibly moving). Finally, whether you try to do some sort of reaction/live stream somewhere or just watch it on your own, I suggest going into Imaginaerum (the film) prepared for an emotional response. While I can't truly know what might hit you emotionally in a way you were hinting at, such as how High Hopes did, those are my best guesses. Not all of those are common songs for reactions, but I'm pretty sure I've seen most of them requested in this or other comment sections, so I felt it was worth including their mention. It's also entirely possible you'll find some other song I didn't name hits you in just the way you'd prefer to avoid, at least without preparation; I apologize for my inability to warn you! Just know that we're all here ready to offer our support as you continue your Nightwish journey, tears, heartbreak, and all.
Floor is super professional. I think important cultural thing is, finnish people really really dislike those who are selfish (normal every day life, sports or music industry). She works extremely hard and has good sense of humour. Every interaction and interview you see, it's really easy to see how much guys respect Floor. There is youtube documentary which gives good insights about whole Nightwish operation: Nightwish Making the album Endless Forms Most Beautiful (playlist in full) Your reactions are kinda like Nightwish live gigs - always great.
Nightwish started their world tour yesterday in front of 15K audience. Floor has a bit of a flu, and you could hear it in Everdream. Otherwise it was magical !
Exellent reaction once again. It`s Kai from Wintersun on drums btw. Jukka stepped down before this Tour because of insomnia but he is around the band still. Greetings from Sweden
Love how the crowd knows the song well enough, they know when to shut up when it gets soft and quiet. for the studio version, Tuomas uses a different effect on his keys for the dueling solos. there's some very cool layering of Emppu's shred.
It's not just Floor, the entire band is the same. What you were saying about Floor's humility, I express with 2 words 'no ego'. Marco is a great singer, but doesn't mind taking a back seat to Floor if that what is best for the song, same for Floor on certain songs where Marco takes the lead. Emppu is very proficient, but does not mind not playing for entire sections of the song and his solos are completely focused on elevating the melody, all substance, no flash. Kai is a monster technical drummer, but no showing off here, just whatever servers the music. Tuomas being the main composer could easily put himself front and centre, but he will often disappear in the background, for the benefit of the music. All of them in service of the song, the melody, the music and nothing else. To me this it what I admire most about this band.
A fantastic opener to any concert, but how many bands could follow it well with any other song, they go into Yours is an Empty Hope which has a power and vitriole to it that drives hard, then slow it down with Ever Dream, for me thats it, you won Nightwish, I'm Yours. very few bands in the world can do it with such mastery and make you feel fantastic, I have watched the BlueRay many times and never think this is a bit slow or I could be doing something else, I am captivated until the end then I realise its 3am again and over 2 hours have passed in an instant
Just subscribed Eric, another great response. Nightwish isn't just a show, it is an experience. Floor commands but doesn't take away from the band. Each member is a phenomenal musician that blends and meshes together to nail every performance. Tuomas is a genius and that duel with Emppu was stunning. Thanks for your insight. Cheers, Rich
Indeed Jukka had his second last concert with Nightwish at Wacken 2013., followed by his last concert at Mera Luna-Festival in Lower Saxony (Germany). During the recordings for the follow-up EFMB-album, he stepped back for his friend Kai Hahto from Wintersun band (FIN).
This song and this record are very precious to me, as I'm a big fan of Richard Dawkins and love science. I love this song and this performance so much and you, Eric are incredibly sensitive to the whole song, but also the subtleties. I see you smiling at the same moments I do and it's so amazing to watch you enjoying the music. Congratulations! And I miss Marko as hell.
we always say;"she can sing the phonebook". guess what....she dit it in a Dutch radio program op radiostation NPO2. as a challange they gave Floor a phonebook and The Queen did it...it sounded awesome.....hahaha.
Hi Eric, it was the first song you have reacted to, Tuomas has written for her 😊. I think you have now an idea what kind of masterpiece "The Greatest Show on Earth" will be. The whole evolution in 22 min. Brilliant 😂
As "Dark chest of wonders" in Wacken 2013, this is one super energetic opener. Both great! The entire album is kinda a science lesson. Can't wait for you to react to "The greatest show on Earth" (when you do it please don't cut it short and if you can do the full Tampere version then the Wembley las minutes as a bonus).

Yess, that was an awesome surprise cause we already had tickets for that Friday of Pink Pop. 🤩🤘🏽

As someone who was lucky enough to be there i can vouch for the fact that this was the most amazing concert opener, whats more they followed it up with Yours is an empty hope, Ever dream and Storytime. Wow were we all stoked after that
I love the Wacken 2013 double power combo opener, too - Dark Chest of Wonders followed by I wish I Had An Angel. :)
You also got Poet and the Pendulum that night. I'm jealous!
@@davidellinsworth22 not to rub it in but a brilliant version of 7days and of course TGSOE for dessert. One of the best concerts I have been to.
@@scifimonkey3 I actually prefer the Wembley version of GSOE to the Tampere version.
Once again Eric, you can make a blind man see this song in vivid colors. Your analysis on these songs has no equals.
Nightwish is the only group that can make real heavy so beautiful to listen 💥💥💥
Tuomas has also made a soundtrack on Life and times of Scrooge McDuck comics book. Check it out, singer is his wife, Johanna Kurkela.
I concur. "A lifetime of Adventure". Also Auri - Night 13
I wholeheartedly concur many times often!😂

Night 13 by Auri.
That song destroyed me.
"Younger than yesterday....." Can't even type the rest of that line.
I was going to drop an I concur on A Lifetime of Adventure... But if we are bringing up Auri as well then I concur again on Night 13
Marco´s base tone here is just so beautiful. Its too smooth and silky. I just, aaaah. Can't get enough of it!
Troy looks like a druid who's in tune with the Earth and everything sacred about this place we inhabit, and is totally with the vibe.
Kai seems like what an elvish blacksmith turned metal drummer would look like.
Starting with Endless Forms Most Beautiful, a trilogy is forming and the third part of it has just been recorded in the studio, and is in production for the start of the next year.
Nightwish in Tampere🇫🇮 today, AMAZING🥰!! We were here!! Great, great, great🤯!
Have fun and let us know how it was ❤️🤘🏽
In this concert, Kai Hahto was already behind the drum kit. Jukka and Kai are both brilliant, but you gotta love Kai´s drumming, that always compliments the song.
Last night I was enjoying the live performance of Nightwish in Tampere, Finland.🤘 🇫🇮🤘
I was there too
@@reeilona mee too...and tomorrow too :)
She is therefore more of an ambassador for the band. She undoubtedly marshals the audience like a general leading and inspiring her people before they storm the barricades.
This one has Floor's gorgeous lower register at the start (wonder what colours that elicited). Floor at 34, was at her peak in this concert. (Mind you, she's still there now.)
Tuomas often puts those little runs and trills in the background. Superb.
And I really love Marco's harmonies at the end.
Most reactors miss those runs and trills.
@@jeannettesimpson9778 That's true and I almost said that, but Tuomas does do that quite a lot. Also odd little dissonant arpeggios and such - Yours is an Empty Hope is an example that most reactors don't comment on. Before the ethereal siren-like notes he does that.
Nightwish the gift that never stops giving. Just when you’re sure it can’t get any better- it does.
A blooming flower in a battlefield” That is what I have been looking for. Great way to describe them.
They just have such a good time playing you have to smile watching them. Wow. What a band. What a discovery for 2022.
Like others said, just the other day Floor did what many fans have been predicting for ages: Floor Jansen singing the phone book (Live NPO Radio2)..ua-cam.com/video/CLUr1DLwEQg/v-deo.html

15 days and counting - Lowell, MA - May 7th! Great reaction!
Great commentary, as always. A “relentless onslaught” to start a show, indeed. I think you’re ready for The Greatest Show on Earth. More science textbook stuff on an even more epic scale. Most recommend the Tampere version. (And no… you’re not ready yet for the other ‘big one’)

One of the best of all times "UA-cam-Tutorial" of how opening a metal-concert; INSANE PERFORMANCE!!! Greetings from Argentina!!!
04/11/2020
A tract of life-packed forests in Mexico saved with help from symphonic metal outfit Nightwish will be named after the band, World Land Trust (WLT) partner Grupo Ecológico Sierra Gorda (GESG) revealed during an Instagram Live chat with lead singer Floor Jansen last week.
I was at their sold-out concert last night here in Tampere. Amazing show once again 🔥🤘❤️🇫🇮
Shudder Before the Beautiful live at Wembley… one of the best concert openings I’ve ever seen.
Ladies and gentleman…start your engines. The show has begun.😀🤘
What a “blow your mind” way to start a show! You just know you are going to have an awesome night🤘🤘🤘
A brilliant reaction as usual!!
NWSU 🤘😎🤘.
All the women of Nightwish had their roles.
They all brought this band where they right now.
The audience is always the sixth member of the band. Without them there would not be a show and I think Nightwish really appreciates their fans.
Eric, this is one of the songs that lets you know, beyond all doubt, that Tuomas is, as I like to call him, the "Metal Mozart."
He really embodies the heart and soul of classical composers like Beethoven, Bach, and Mozart.
I happen to have a copy of that science book, autographed by the band, April 11th 2015!
Just wait till you get to "The Greatest Show on Earth!"
I mentioned this before, but you should really check out Tuomas’ solo project “A Lifetime of Adventure” where he writes a whole album about Scrooge McDuck. It is beyond epic!

Nightwish - Rest Calm
I'm gonna keep requesting it until you play it. Totally underrated song that never makes the reactor rotation.
I LOVE Rest Calm.
This band sets a standard for both bands and listeners that you either try to embrace or run away from. There is no middle ground.
This week floor sang a part of a dutch phonebook on npo radio 2 it is on you tube
And do not worry, it does not matter if it was Jukka or Kai, we love them both. ;)
I concur
Loved it. One of the best reactors on yt. To one of the best bands on the planet imho. Thankyou.
For me this is the best show opener I’ve ever heard. It’s a kick arse track and it whacks you right where it hurts 🤘😎🤘
This is face-meltingly good.
Kai Hahto drummer is organic metronome 😊
every live video i've seen, every member every song from ever concert looks like they love what they are doing and love each other for there talents. zero egos from any of them.
everyone of them only does what the music calls for nothing more nothing less.
i love your reactions.. I am so much waiting for "The greatest show on earth" in Tampere
Nightwish army UK popping in for another great reaction, dont forget I WANT MY TEARS BACK Buenos Aries for the most fun on stage.
Your the David attenborou of science and emotion of music. Especially nightwish. Most wordy people don't have your overall insight.
Thank you
Hi Eric, I see you have not yet reacted to 'Ghost River' by Nightwish, i hope you are going to do that anytime soon because you are really missing something you don't want to miss!
"blooming flower on a battlefield" what a great image to describe them!

I conur 100 percent! Eric will freak out... in a positive way.
he react to the tampere version of yours a empty hope a month ago
I concur heartily. Its my favorite song from that concert except for tPatP. But I missed he already reacted to YiaEH. So going to watch that.
You can see the trailer for the movie here: ua-cam.com/video/qMhwh0-xcLo/v-deo.html
Floor is super professional. I think important cultural thing is, finnish people really really dislike those who are selfish (normal every day life, sports or music industry). She works extremely hard and has good sense of humour. Every interaction and interview you see, it's really easy to see how much guys respect Floor. There is youtube documentary which gives good insights about whole Nightwish operation: Nightwish Making the album Endless Forms Most Beautiful (playlist in full)
Your reactions are kinda like Nightwish live gigs - always great.
I like your reactions, because you are one of the few who noticed the genius of Tuomas' music and lyrics!
I concur 😀
Again another amazing reaction from you, to again an amazing song from Nightwish, thank you Eric!! Bye
great reaction Eric. have a fantastic weekend
Talent and Performance by Humble Souls to the Music.
Love how the crowd knows the song well enough, they know when to shut up when it gets soft and quiet. for the studio version, Tuomas uses a different effect on his keys for the dueling solos. there's some very cool layering of Emppu's shred.
You make me feel prevalaged to be aloud to follow your journey with Nightwish !!! THANK YOU !
Much Love to you and Ukraine 🌻🌻🌻💙💛💙
oh yes, coming home from work on the friday , and finding a new reaction on Nightwish....Mmmm Great start to the weekend.
"Dualing Geniuses” 👏 👌🏻
Tuomas is just incredible. Floor too....
You got it right! Perfectly said. This band is just out of this world. Things can not get better than this. Floor is magic!
It is the greatest album ever written hands down whether people agree or not just because of the content and the performance of it all is amazing.
TRUE!! They all have this great bond, they ARE NIGHTWISH
Could be the wine, but I have to watch this a few times. You are a real pontiff of our goddess🤓👸
You spoke tears to my eyes, thanks again!!!!!
we always say;"she can sing the phonebook". guess what....she dit it in a Dutch radio program op radiostation NPO2. as a challange they gave Floor a phonebook and The Queen did it...it sounded awesome.....hahaha.
Hi Eric, it was the first song you have reacted to, Tuomas has written for her 😊. I think you have now an idea what kind of masterpiece "The Greatest Show on Earth" will be. The whole evolution in 22 min. Brilliant 😂
He reacted to Yours is an Empty Hope 2 months ago.
And originally GSOE was 34 minutes. 😂
