Sharing my experience on how to get an internship as a high schooler AND how to get a job during covid-19! Landing internships & jobs during covid-19 seems like no easy feat, but this is how i found 3 paid internships/jobs during covid-19 and as a high schooler. I am a high schooler currently, and would like to know if a work permit would be necessary for someone who is under 18? Moreover, do you need a work permit for volunteering? Also, starting at what age in high school do you recommend that a high schooler should get an internship? Thanks for the video and have a great day!

Just found your channel and damn we are so alike!! I just finished an internship for a start up video production company that I worked for my whole senior year. I’m looking to get back into working internships for startups again and this really helped me out!!

That's Great for you! Could you tell me what startup it was and how you got an internship? I'm a high school freshman and I'm thinking about internships in video production (a hobby) and business/economics (what I'm thinking about majoring in). What kind of things did you do? I'd love to talk some more if you could!
@@ritwijghosh208 Hey totally!! My experience happened at a local video production company in my town. I got in contact with them through my high school and I eventually met with the boss and asked him about an internship! What I did was basically do a lot of shooting commercial type videos for local businesses in my area as well as make storyboards for the videos and work with the cinematographer on what might look best for the shots!! I did some social media posting as well! Its really fun to learn about different types of gear that would be used. It’s really good to learn these types of things if you are considering business or marketing because video production is honestly the future! A lot of filmmakers actually can start out with jobs like these because it’s basically small video projects and the more you do it, the better you get!! If your serious about it, I say go for it and see if you can start an internship early and maybe see if you can adjust your schedule to work part-time! By the time you are a senior, you already have professional background and you might even decide you want to do something in communications or film!!
I did do some regular intern type of jobs though too which was getting the staff coffee and running to Walmart for supplies. All in all, I really recommend it to anybody who’s interested!! I’m currently looking into becoming a camera operator!

How do you usually manage your time, when dealing with both normal classes and extracurricular? Because usually when i get home from school, a lot of time is spent of normal classes that I don't have time to do extracurriculars. I always wonder what amazing people like you do in their day, and how they fit everything in, in already tight schedule.

Hi iris! You are my inspiration and I really want to get into Stanford! I made a research project based on a disease, and found a drug that could potentially lead to a breakthrough! However, I found out that someone else also found out this drug could potentially work, but I still want to continue my research on it and the other persons publication was not continued! I am planning on mentioning them in my article, but I’m wondering if I should still continue doing research?

I'm in 10th grade and had struggles as a freshman as well. Id recommend to ask around. most internships are offered to juniors and seniors

My goal is to have a research opportunity the the summer going to my senior year (2021). I’m afraid I am not qualified enough. At that point in time, I would have taken AP chem and AP physics, but only have taken honors biology my freshmen year. I want an opportunity where I can be introduced to research, but I’m afraid local universities want someone who is more qualified and knowledgeable about research. Any advice?
Hi! My biggest advice is to have no fear! Don't be afraid of rejections, and apply to as many things as possible. Do some outreach. If one professor says no, ask another one. You might have to get 100 rejections before 1 yes, but that's completely normal and okay. In addition, APs aren't as important as you might think. Professors and summer programs value your initiative and experiences as much as, or even more, than your school courses. Try running some science experiments at home, write about them online, and send those articles to the professors your cold emailing or the programs you're applying to. This shows both your interest and your experience. Hope this helps!

Hi! I'm a rising high school sophomore and I wanted to start looking for internships or any extracurriculars that could help boost my chances of getting into college with a science/biology major. I feel like biology extracurriculars are very limited and hard to do remotely unlike many other majors. Could you possibly introduce me to any internship/extracurricular ideas that can be done both online and offline(When school starts)?
I don’t think u should do anything for college. Try to identify areas of growth u want to see in yourself, and pursue the activities that would challenge you there. Or, identity issues in ur community that you care about, and address them through an initiative. These are all EC “ideas” but in the end it’ll just be you acting on your priorities, and you know what you care about best (so i don’t think I’m qualified to speak to the specifics of what you can do). Hey Iris ! The video was extremely helpful . But honestly it's quite hard searching for internships on linkedin . Do you have any tricks on how you searched for internships on linkedin?
I think you might need to be connected with the right ppl. I’m connected with a bunch of ppl who incessantly post internship stuff (from tips to platforms where u can find them). Perhaps check out my connections and connect with them, so you get their posts on your feed? Also, with cold outreaches, make them as short and concise as possible

hi I'm also interested in being an advisor/intern for bullseye! I applied through the regular application for both but i wanted to know if you have any advice for moving forward with it such as you did but I can't find their numbers and I also don't make UA-cam videos? thanks sm!
hmm have you submitted your application form? In there, I'd recommend you show an interest for mentoring younger students and talk about your experience tutoring, etc. Other than that, just be yourself in the interview! I do think they're pretty selective with their advisors though so don't take it personally if you don't get asked for an interview--big congrats if you do get the position though!! Good luck :)

Your video was really helpful but on LinkedIn I don't usually see numbers so I can cold call. Do you think it’s too late to look for an internship at this point? I’m thinking about majoring in biochemistry so do you have any recommendations?
You're totally right. I'd recommend looking into biochem startups bc as you said, it's easier to get internships at tech startups
