I have the 291 and I use the same procedure and method that you just showed and have not had any issues even after the saw sits for a while.

I was starting mine for first time last week and the cord was impossible to pull after a few pulls. I had flooded it and the piston was hydro locked with fuel and piston couldn’t move so I took out spark plug, dried it off and drained excess gas out of plug hole and it was ok after. After about 12 or 18 beers I have a tendency to flood it. Thanks for great video!

Lol maybe take the chain off before using the chainsaw. Maybe it was a higher power saving you from using the chainsaw and drinking lol 😆

You didn't mention the blade engagement lever in front of your hands. Which way does it have to be to start it?

You really should have it forward (bar locked). I work for a Stihl dealer and more often than not some individuals have managed to injure themselves by having the bar lock turned off on startup. Be safe when operating 😄

I'm about to buy a STIHL I made the mistake of buying a Poulan, I have been Poulan every since lol! It's really hard to crank.

If you don't need quite the power of a farm boss you may want to take a look at the Stihl MS 250 c-be with 18" bar. It has the easy start and easy tensioner. Nearing 60 with a bad back and a shoulder with tendonitis I get the giggles when it starts with an easy half pull! Especially when thinking about all these years of hard to start saws,! Two winter worth of oak firewood and no problems yet!

Yes Poulan kinda sucks lol. You likely need a smaller Stihl. Like a 170 or 180. It will do just fine. I have other videos on my Stihl MS180. Actually more videos on that 180 are coming out soon. Thank Frank 😃

Hello, trying to watch your video and learn...having an incredibly hard time with a brand new ms 271. Compression is so high cannot pull the cord. Have taken it back to the shop and fellas get it started right away with a laugh, so its me!!! Please help...also, can you clarify the step after getting out of choke position...I noticed you did not bother with locking the brake...so new to chainsaws. Lots to learn but want to be safe. Thanks for any help.

Mine won’t start. It’s newish. This guy didn’t start it with chain brake on?! I use this method, it won’t start. Looked at plug, even used ether, won’t start. Seems to flood easy. Won’t start. It has run, with two ppl starting it & holding trigger open. Won’t start.

Well, there aren't any videos of how to start to an echo chainsaw, you wanna know why? Because they start the same every time!! Lol, why buy a set of a equipment when every single piece has a different starting method. Echo is better in every conceivable way.
