Also known as Gargoyles. When gargoyles began appearing on churches throughout Europe in the 13th century, they served as decorative water spouts, engineered to preserve stone walls by diverting the flow of rainwater outward from rooftops. An old story was that they were made grotesque to ward off evil spirits.

I discovered this in Germany in 1979. I find it all quite fascinating. I went hiking one day in the forest which was so thickly wooded that it was very dark & I tripped over a root & struck my head against a four foot tall stone cross with the date 1586 chiseled deeply into the base. It was in the middle of nowhere absolutely remote. There is just so much all around us that we're not picking up on. My head was bleeding & it rung my bell good, I sat down & thought . . . maybe it's trying to "ward me off"
I’m surprised the language nazi’s didn’t chime in and admonish you for using “their” instead of “They’re” . Lol😂😂 But we get what you meant. And it’s a good comment.
I haven't watched this yet but I'll tell you right now as a tiny house builder. Those are Gargoyles. Creatures of the night that protect buildings from evil spirits and water damage buy spitting rain water away from the building. Cathedrals probably learned it all from temples. Now I'll watch and see if I'm correct. I love your channel. Every country needs to have a version of you.
Probably did cos before Christianity there were other cultures which were tagged pagan. Unfortunately they got wiped out. Maybe they did take that from them.

Thank you for the update, Praveen..!! Amazing work of the ancient Indian builders. I believe India is the only country in the world where a great number of people still live around great stone monuments of the past. That tells who were worshiping the right Gods all along. Hello Praveen sir, your research about the ancient temple are great sir.i was really inspired by your work towards this temple's sir. I came to know about that the ancient temples are not only built for worship but also built for multiple purposes for people during any emergency situation.
*Proof of Kashi Vishwanath Mandir:* 1. According to Kashi Khanda of Skanda Purana there were 1099 temples in Varanasi several centuries back, out of which 513 were dedicated to Shiva. Inside there were five mandapas (halls or pavilions of the temple). The main mandapa was the garbhagriha, where the Shiva Linga of Vishwanath was revered. There were four mandapas on four sides of the temple: Jnana mandapa in the east; Shringar (Ranga) mandapa in the west; Aishwarya mandapa in the north; and Mukti mandapa in the south which was also the site of the idol of Vishnu swami, the main deity in that mandap. It is speculated that the height of the spire was around 128 feet. The main gate of the temple was on the west side near the Dvara Vinayaka. As per , the garbhagriha, Mukti mandapa and Aishwarya mandapa are currently a part of the main building of the so-called Gyanvapi masjid. The other structures have been either converted or demolished. 2. Aurangzeb ordered the demoIition of the Kashi Vishwanath temple in March/April 1669 and the task was reported to have been accomplished in Sept 1669. At the same time, the mosque called ‘Gyanvapi Masjid’ (Gyanvapi mosque) was built on the demolition site. As a result of the destruction, the Mukti maṇḍapa of the original Kashi Vishweshwar temple complex became a part of the mosque. Eventually, the remnants of the Vishnu Peetha housed in it were completely wiped out. 3. Fortunately, Bharat regained its glory under Hindavi Swarajya/Maratha Empire of the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. The Kashi Vishwanath temple was rebuilt in 1776 by Ahilyabai Holkar - the Maratha queen of Malwa. A survey report of the Gyanvapi Masjid complex found evidence of the presence of Hindu idols, markings that resemble Hindu relics and ancient Hindu temple artefacts. 4. The report mentioned the discovery of a “stone structure....which looks like a big Shivling” in the ceremonial ablution tank of the mosque. Broken artifacts of elephant trunk was found on the western wall....swastika, trishul (trident) and paan (betel leaf) symbols were found engraved on the stones...all these artwork appear in the style of ancient Bharatiya temples. 5. Four doors and four pillars were found in the basement. Other artefacts and objects mentioned in the report were six betel leaf-shaped figures inscribed on the wall about three feet above the ground, motifs of bells, urns and flowers etched on some pillars, leaves and lotus-like structures. 6. The presence of four idol-like structures with sindoor or vermillion smeared on them and a possible arrangement for lighting diyas or earthen lamps. It also referred to three-four sculptures and stone slabs that local people believe were remnants of the Sringar Gauri temple. 7. Report also said that religious symbols were present on the back wall of the Gyanvapi mosque, including that of Sheshnag and lotus. “From the north to west side of the wall, there is an embossed work of vermilion colour on the slab. In this, four idols in form of a deity is visible. Nandi was in the temple complex. 8. The survey also referred to two books that mentioned the presence of an ancient temple at the site, and said shapes of walls around the main dome of the mosque resembled the maps in the books. 9. Hindu artifacts and bells are seen on the pillars present in the Gyanvapi complex along with the idols of Nandi and Hanuman ji. The semi-demolished wall of the temple, pillars, and ruins are visible in a sketch of the mosque by James Princep. 10. Aurangzeb demolished the original Kashi Visvesvara Temple and raised the Gyanvapi mosque using its debris. In fact, another famous mosque which underwent the same Aurangzebian fate still stands in the sacred city: the Alamgir Masjid, built after destroying the Bindu Madhava Temple. 11. GYANVAPI” is an intriguing name for a mosque. Vapi means well. “Gyanvapi” is the corruption of the Sanskrit term Jnana-Vapi or the Well of (Sacred) Knowledge, symbolising Shiva-Tattva (or the Philosophy of Shiva).

These kind of stones are commonly found in ancient temples of kerala where we use to drink teertha (water) coming from it after all rituals have been done
in uttarakhand there is a temple ancient temple called lakha mandal sir you have to visit there are many ancient mysterious objects and many lingas there ancient archeological objects are there its so amazing place.
Pranala is perhaps "pranaali" (प्रणाली) means an arrangement or a system . In Hindi speaking region in local dialect there are 2 word panaraa and parnaalaa पनारा/ परनाला which means water drainage system .
We have Simha pranali in J & K .....in between this state I saw this in kudh village when we were kids traveling from Jammu to Kashmir or vice-versa... ..... now as we travel by air I don't know current status...I have seen water gushing through it .... Thanks ❤🎉🙌💐🙏
All my life I have been seeing some form of 'pranalay' in temples in India. Thanks to this video, now I realise how much of a civilizational values, cultures were shared in ancient times.
Mr. Praveen Mohan: When you pointed your "what is this object and you pointed your finger at it?" To me it looked like a drain spout for excess rain water. This will be probably be the only thing I'll get right, just watching you past, present and future!!! 😊.
Very well explained Praveen. Thanks. Just a small observation. When the world map was displayed, Kashmir was not included in Bharat. Wanted to bring to your notice.
Praven, your videos make sense to ancient India knowledge. I embraced Hinduism recently, due to your videos. I do not know if this matters to anyone or not. But after God blessings, your videos make me search about ancient India knowledge and I accepted Hinduism. Thanks a lot for bringing ancient India knowledge of sanatan dharma.
Thankyou Praveen sir for bringing this video after some gap, i was longing to see your videos. As i always say you are Encyclopaedia of ancient history. Really its amazing to see this many pranalay's in different countries. No doubt our country inspired many nations ❤
dear Praveen, have you ever tested the paramagnetic field of this ancient stones? It is very interesting. Paramagnetic stones make the stone harder against erosion. and does a vital field. In Germany and England we work with these electromagnetic field for plant vitality. Im doing a video about that. Who ever is interested, pull on my picture.
Europe had them on churches , and castles - Gargoyles , which you mentioned . As soon as you showed the purpose of the broken ones in Indonesia , I knew what purpose they served , and all the old cultures , which had them . Thank you for explaining their purpose to many , and anyone who has been caught under one when it's rained , definitely know their purpose . 🤔🙂👍🙏🕉️
Excellent Exibition of *Pranalayas* It shows how clever the builders of these temples Who took care of *providing* Storm water drains on the top of the temple s I bow my head to their great knowledge This is the case of diverting. Rain water artisticaly Similer drain arrengements Are also in side the garbhagruh The outlets. Called as Gomukha which r used to pass Tirth of any Daity from the temple. Thank you Dear Praveen Mohanji
The fascinating part is that so many cultures thousands of kilometers apart not just indonesia and india but even india and south america that never met have so many things in common. No matter what religion you follow or god you worship it seems to me that it if you dont think theres a higher power or entity tying us all together you must be crazy to not see the patterns of creation in all aspects. These are all complex not straightforward things and for them to have been done the exact same way is no coincidence. They simply had the same Teacher.
Greetings Mr. Praveen & Team, & Salamat. Thank You so much for this video. Very detailed architectural site. So what about the "kukkuta 🐓 pranalaya" at 5:15 standing kind to Your front. It really observing You very closely. Did You notice it, : jtkid😅😂. So thanks Team again You did it Mr Praveen 👏, God Bless You All.
We can find similar stone structures across Kathmandu Valley, Nepal. They were not just used as a water outlay system, but rather were integral parts of a centuries-old, intricate water supply system that provided clean drinking water to communities even before modern plumbing existed. Many of them provide fresh drinking water to this day. They are called by the name of Dhunge dhara in Nepali or Hiti in the Newari language, both of which mean "stone spout."
It is called Makar Pranali (मकर प्रणाली) or the Makar system. The ancient rain water drainage system of temples. It is Makar (मकर), not Makara (मकरा); It is pranali (प्रणाली), not pran-alaya (प्राण+आलय) It is bhoot (भूत) not bootha (बूथा) As per संस्कृत the meaning of the word gets changed if one screws up the pronunciations

Wonderful, Praveen. Big thanks.
Спасибо большое дорогой историк.Очень интересно!
Die gibt es auch am Kölner Dom. Greatings from Cologne

Most welcome 😊
Looking good, friend :)
Nice work, as always and very interesting. Thank you.
Mr. Praveen Mohan: When you pointed your "what is this object and you pointed your finger at it?" To me it looked like a drain spout for excess rain water. This will be probably be the only thing I'll get right, just watching you past, present and future!!! 😊.
You are making people enlightened 😊
Very well explained Praveen. Thanks.
Just a small observation.
When the world map was displayed, Kashmir was not included in Bharat.
Wanted to bring to your notice.

dear Praveen,
have you ever tested the paramagnetic field of this ancient stones? It is very interesting. Paramagnetic stones make the stone harder against erosion. and does a vital field.
In Germany and England we work with these electromagnetic field for plant vitality.
Im doing a video about that. Who ever is interested, pull on my picture.
I am really interested. Thanks for sharing. Namaste
Interesting! If you make an English video, I’d love to check it out.
@@Borg_Borg im doing in German, maybe you have a translator? There will be some interest pictures and links.

Praveen this is super
Highly appreciated keep continuing.
In Europa we have the same but we call them as Gargoyle. They have the same function!
And it was amusing to hear the Hindu one “gurgle” when Praveen poured the water in. Just like the European ones.

You are ancient technology knowledge pranalaya for us.
I find it strange that this is true except for the ancient Chinese dragon horn themed architecture

Great work . . . Very well done . . . Fascinating . . . Thank You -
Many thanks!
Wow! Wow!again and again❤
Thank you praven mohan ❤ 11:55
excellent....very interesting. Thank you Praveen.
It is called Makar Pranali (मकर प्रणाली) or the Makar system. The ancient rain water drainage system of temples.
It is Makar (मकर), not Makara (मकरा);
It is pranali (प्रणाली), not pran-alaya (प्राण+आलय)
It is bhoot (भूत) not bootha (बूथा)
As per संस्कृत the meaning of the word gets changed if one screws up the pronunciations
I agree to this meaning. मकर प्रणाली water channel system.
Just Amazing 😮
