The reason people need the “fancy” equipment, is because they want to overload their tank. A sump just adds extra capacity to your display, so the bio load doesn’t exceed the available bacteria. And if you want to overload it even more, add a protein skimmer to remove the solid poo before it has a chance to pollute. It’s a simple fact that newbies don’t get told. If you want 100 gallons worth of fish in a 70 gallon tank… add a 20 gallon sump and a small skimmer. Now you have 90 gallons of water, rock, & sand… with the protein skimmer taking up the missing 10 gallons worth of load.
Yep I am getting ready to do same thing getting rid of some red slime algae been up and running for 6 months I have uv,two power heads and two HOB Fluval 110 on a 75 gal bow front.
All down to bioload, low fish volume; low nutrient export needed. I have a 50 gallon mixed here with an internal filter and mini hob skimmer. Am splashing out big bucks soon tho for a tidal 55 haha.That tank would look better under whiter light :)

They use a Seachem tidal hang on the back filter and the lights are Red Sea 90’s. The Red Sea lights are a bit pricey and ai prime led’s would work just as well.
I just bought a Kessil a80 for a 25 gallon bubble aquarium. It’s beautiful, but I’m learning as I go. I’ve spent $1,500 over the past 2 months just buying fish & corals. I know have two fish (fox face & clown fish).
you could add one of those small electrical internal skimmers (Examples: Eheim Skim350, Juwel EccoSkim, AquaOne Aquarium Skimmer, Oase CrystalSkim 350, Amtra Skimmer Surface, Tunze Comline) and couple its output to the intake of the hang on the back filter, to make sure that everithing restarts properly in case of power outage🦊
I have simple 100 gallon tank (no sump), filter floss connected to a Maxijet powerhead, and hang on back skimmer. Mixd reef. 20% waterchange monthly. Hands are in the tank to clean. Stir up the sandbed, weekly, which allows the skimmer and filter floss to capture the detritus.
i've been using two powerheads and an HOB in my 40 gal tank. I also use tap water instead of RODI. I dont know how great mine is compared to other places but i doubt its anything special. I have Pulsing Xenia and a rhodactis doing good. I wouldnt risk buying anything too expensive or fragile though.
I'm a huge fan of the Tidal 110 filters. If I could get away with these on a saltwater, I might end up with a tank sooner than later. Just been thinking and keep holding off. This might just change my opinion. AND the top was the perfect solution!!
@@RGMLLC read/ watch as much as possible and try to keep different types of tanks at home. If you have a local fish store try to work there hopefully they have service and you can train under them if they don't you still pick up valuable skill working there. Then eventually once you are confident start branch out on your own. Start small.
i know lights are important but are there any lights you would recommend that wont break the bank too much but i can still cave some coral? (first time in saltwater but ive had fresh water)

Pure water vapor is the only thing that can evaporate from your tanks. No salts. No minerals. The solids stay, so your tank is becoming saltier and saltier as the water evaporates. This means that all you must do is to replace your evaporation loss with RO water, and your tank will return to it’s original salinity level. 👍

Man that's great. Truly a beautiful tank. I do have a few questions. What size tank is it? I'm guessing at least a 75g. You said you service the tank every 2 weeks. What percentage of water do you change out? Finally, how the heck do you keep the anemones from wandering around and stinging the coral to death?
I have a 90 gallon tank only fish with live rock have a aquaclear110 and a sunsun canister ac110 have been on the tank for a 3 month period and canister was just put yesterday my nitrates are at 40ppm everything else is under control ph amonia nitrite but them nitrates are high any advice? Anyone? Thanks!

The tank I honestly got it for free a friend was going to trash literally everything even the fish so I took it and been on it since but question I don’t know if my light will help with one coral or the fishes since I have a dog face puffer and a blue spot puffer
I dissagree with cheap led lights comment. I have the Noopsyche K7 mini on my 10g and im growing sps no problem at 30% intensity. This is a 60w light for 77 dollars.

Been in the hobby for almost a decade now. I like to keep things cheap as possible. I only use HOB filters with filter floss & chemipure.
I ran a 10 gallon rimless just like this but regretted not investing in an ato

I have a 60 gallon literally no filtration. 60 pounds of rock and 60 pounds of sand no skimmer no sump no hob anything
Salt water talk your main filtration is alot of rock and alot of sand and 20% water change every 2 weeks that is it

Absolutely. Just get the proper size and have a healthy tank maintenance plan.

The customer bought those. I believe they are the ones for cichlid tanks not sure where from.

Depends what you are keeping. If coral’s usually 8/10 hrs. If fish it’s your preference.

We change it every visit which is down to 1 a month but the customer might change month. Once a week should be fine.

75 g- 40/50 percent water change- and pure luck and chance with the nems.

Depends a lot on your bio load. Water changes, nitrate removing media, all work to get nitrates down. Maybe add a natural filter like some soft coral.
