Would it be wise to add a drop of threadlocker to prevent updated bolts from backing out?

What is the reason for disassembling the vanos . She was losing timing or something. I just built the n55 engine and I have problems. I don't know why he loses his timing

Is there a way to know if my N55 has aluminum or steel bolts in the VANOS?

As far as I know they all have steel bolts

@@straightupbmw no man, they were a huge problem the ones that came with aluminum bolts, they would snap off at random times causing the engine to fail massively. I'm concerned I have a e92 N55

Oh ok, you are talking about the Vanos screws that hold the Vanos assembly together
There is a BMW SIB that outlined the years these were affected
However I always replace mine regardless of if it applies or it does not

      @@straightupbmw Thanks mate!
there's an specific kit for this vanos assembly repair, it's around 100 USD on Amazon, but is it necessary to actually remove completely the VANOS assembly to replace the bolts? Aren't they accessible from behind?

@@danielorozco1728 You don't have to remove the gears, you can replace the bolts one by one from behind. This way you can skip the engine retiming. When I had to replace them, I didn't have the BMW original ones, so I just used normal M7 hex steel bolts from my local hardware store.
