Welcome back to my channel! In today's video I'm discussing some of my favorite pen & Ink combinations that I keep going back to over and over again! Let us know in the comments what your favorite combos are! Thanks so much for watching!
I can relate on so many levels. I also have a hard time sticking with selected "currently inked" pens each month. I have finally convinced myself that those are the ones I FOCUS on but give myself the right to re-ink with or change nibs if Im not happy with it. I just include those things in my monthly review. I mean why hold yourself back from using the pens/inks that make you happy. And I also LOVE brown pens and inks. I've gotten some great pairing suggestions from your video. Thanks !!!

I have been exploring my ink collection more and found I tend to like lighter inks as well. Before, I thought I was an EF/F girlie, but after looking at my favorite inks, I’m now converted to the Juicy Broads!

Regarding dry inks, Vanness Pens carries an additive you can add to the ink that will make it more juicy.

I've been using FPs for over 30 years now; since middle school - ? - (I have no idea how school levels work in the US). And it has been somewhere around 10 years, since I got way more into the 'luxury' pens. By now I don't really limit myself on what I'll use when; rather I dedicate pens that I like at that time to my daily writing. I almost always have 2 colours for my planner, and another one for my journal. İf I am studying or preparing a presentation etc, I will use 3-4 colours (and yes I think and work well analog; digital is something done at the end if needed). So I need something like 6-7 pens inked at a time. But its always at least 20-30 pens 😅.. just because I love different nibs from UEF to 3B and all the 'exotic' grinds in between. I got into inks later on but it doesn't really do much for me to be honest. I like matching my pens if I can but I realised that if I obsessed about it, it will keep me from using my fave pens of the moment. So I relaxed on it
Btw your Leonardo pen looks like it's just a bit loose on the nib side. You might have done this but take the converter out and try to screw your nib in its place first. Do it firmly but gently of course. Otherwise I would contact the retailer and have it fixed; or maybe mail Leonardo itself to see what they can do about it

Also thanks for the tip with my Leonardo...I hadn't tried that yet! Growing up the United States, I never used a fountain pen, I'm kind of sad about that! I think of all of the years I could have enjoyed them before I discovered them at 49!
Like you, I tend to stick with certain inks for certain pens. They just belong together. 🥰

Love the combos! I usually always use all the ink in pens before using new ones but I didn’t like the ones left over from December so I emptied them out and picked out new pens and inks for February.

I have a brown ink for you to try. Robert Oster Choclate Pudding. Last I looked Cult Pens had it. A really different brown.

Great video! I love that you started with my favorite pen and ink combo - Montblanc Glacier. My husband purchased my pen (the LeGrand, not the Doue which is too small for me) and ink for my birthday last fall and I love, love, love it! Regarding lighter browns, try MB Swan Plume Illusion or Birmingham Hemlock Cone. I also like Birmingham Sandstone. It is a lot like Oyster Hour without the greenish cast. It has a soft, dusty feel to it and works really well in my MB 146. Also, if you like pinky-browns you may want to try Birmingham Pennsylvania Fieldstone. It is a softer color, and dries to a pinky grey-beige and has lots of shading. It might be a good match for your Scribo.

Forgot to mention, cashmere rose from the 2023 ink vent matches the finials of the refresh sailor pen nearly perfect!

Thanks to its consistency Platinum Carbon Black ink makes all kind of nibs smoother. Thats why i use it only with finer nibs with feedback. Otherwise itll be too smooth to write 😄

AS soon as I saw the last pen I thought of Laban Aphrodite Pink! Aphrodite pink is my fav dusty/browny pink, I personally prefer it to opera rose. I really enjoyed this video, I have a is,ilar experience with struggling to stick to strict currently inked so its nice to know I'm not the only one! I realise I have a few perfect pen/ink combos, I might have to do an insta post exploring them.
Thanks so much!! I just received my bottle of Opera Rose and while I do think it's a beautiful ink, I still prefer Aphrodite. Aphrodite is more pink and less orange. It's so much fun to explore though, isn't it!
I use diamine green black in my cats eye talisman! I find it perfect for that pen and it’s my favourite pen haha
Now that I can get behind! That color reminds me of FWP Spruce County Post which I love. That would tone things down for me. The pen is a beautiful writer! Thanks for the recommendation!

I try to have some sort of balance between really vibrant bright colors and more muted complex colors. Permanently inked is a Black Kaweco sport in Platinum Chou Koro. In the 2010s, I had -- for 5 or 6 year years -- a Platinum 3776 inked with Noodler's Baystate Blue. (it's fine and clean now. No permanent harm from this very blue history.) I have about 20 or so pens inked, and I don't ink a new one until an older one runs out of ink (or a pen is essentially unusable, and I un-ink it -- but this does not often happen.) To ink a new pen, I look at what inks are in current pens and I try to complement and?or balance with the order inks. So today I ran out of ink in one pen inked with Franklin- Christoph Urushi Red, and inked a new pen with another bright (but different tone) of red -- DeAtrimentis Fuchsia.

I started doing a currently inked at the start of each month - but I use it more to get a feel for what I ink up a lot and what I've tried. I don't use it as a commitment to not ink anything else until next month nor do I try to do themes - I like to have a range of colors at all times!
Thanks for sharing! Do you have any favorites this month? I think my approach is similar. It's nice to focus on a handful of pens and ink but I love the flexibility of exploring outside of the box each month!

I love platinum fines. I have a fine and an ultra extra fine and i love them both. right up there with my esterbrook needlepoint.

All my Leonardo Moment Zeros make noise when I shake them. For me, it’s the metal sleeve on the converter knob. If something keeps coming unscrewed I’m yours, I’d reach to Dromgoole’s or Leonardo about it.

I love Ferris inks when I see them swatched but I find them hard to read with fine and medium nibs.
They have a lot of light beautiful colors, but they can often be hard to read.
1. I love videos like this, full of opinions.
2. Have you tried White Lightning, from Vanness? Just a drop will turn a dry ink into a wet ink.
3. Writer's Blood is a browned out Oxblood, perhaps perfect for you.

Lori love! 💜 Work's crazy so I'm backed up on YT videos and anything fun. I'm on Mountain Time so, unfortunately, it's tough for me to catch you juicy broads live unless it's a holiday 😕 but I'll try to play hookie for an hour or so one of these Mondays. Anyway I'm totally with you on this! I'd love to be and can only ever dream of being as organized with my pen/inks & planning as Karyna lol! 😄 But nope, I'm totally scattered when it comes to currently inked plus I get bored using the same ink for too long and "too long" is sometimes a day!😂

If you like Teranishi Opera Rose, you might also like “Old Rose” from Kuretake, a fairly new ink. I just ordered “Rosa Antico” from Scribo and I am very curious how all these rosy inks do compare. I might have to start a UA-cam Channel 😂 to show this comparison.

I enjoy your posts, but I disagree with some ideas. I have dozens of pens from the inexpensive to costly ones. I have NEVER made an attempt to match ink color with the of the pen itself. I choose inks that I enjoy using, and that is usually on the conservative side; blues and blacks, and never gimmick inks (glitter and shimmer). Inks have recently got expensive, so I tend to buy from Waterman, Pelikan, & Parker.
That's the beauty of this hobby we can all approach it in ways that work for us as individuals. I need to try some Waterman ink. I've heard good things! Thanks for watching.
