hi Lori, don't think the "bonus" ink from wonderpens is a sample. i'm canadian, and during winter a lot of local retailers here will remove some of the ink from the original bottle and put it in a plastic vial to prevent the glass from potentially exploding in transit especially during winter. in winter (or just cold weather conditions in general) ink can freeze (and thus expand), this solution prevents an inky mess for customers.
I just love when you share the pen ink choice. It is fun to try to guess what you’ll chose and it gives me ideas about what I’m going to ink up next. 😊
I enjoy your calming voice when you make videos. I have a suggestion when you fill a pen with a piston or converter mechanism: When filling the pen, run the piston all the way down before inserting the nib into the ink; then all you have to do is run the piston up to fill the pen. This will reduce the time you have to keep the nib submerged, as well as the chance of knocking the ink bottle over.
My ADD keeps me swapping pens basically every paragraph! Ha ha!

Wonder Pens removes some ink to prevent expansion and breakage from freezing. I thought the same thing, but it's simply ink from the bottle you bought. Interesting idea of inking Ali the same brand.

I'm so excited for your trip to the Dutch Pen Show & London! I got into pens after I traveled to London, but I need to recommend Dishoom, an Indian restaurant in London (there are a few locations). If you like Indian food, I hope you can go.

Perhaps you can visit Hazel Soan’s art gallery in London. She is a truly wonderful watercolorist & teacher. I do believe you will enjoy her loose vibrant style with watercolor that seems to be a lovely pairing for the ink worlds especially the ones from Birmingham Pens. 😊
so soothing, I was able to get a sample of Birmingham's Kenai Fjord at meet-up and love it - it's a great blue. Will definitely be buying the whole bottle

I‘m sorry if you mentioned in previous videos (I didn’t find it in the description box), which Journal are you using? I think you mentioned Leuchtturm and the paper is so white, that’s why I’m wondering.

@@timewithtata8004 thank you for answering! I also enjoyed Leuchtturm and Stalogy. I just had a good laugh about the Lamy notebook (90gsm) in which my Lamy pens (+various inks...) bleeded through, you basically can't use the back of the page.
In your opinion, which I value, what Leonardo would you recommend, nib and model? Thank you.
All your pen and ink combos are lovely. I've been going lighter with most of my inks for Spring. I would caution you about using shimmer ink in your Scribo, because when Joost interviewed the gentleman from Scribo he recommended not to use shimmer inks with an ebonite feed. I just bought a Scribo Feel second hand and can't wait to try the flex nib.
Lovely video! In England if you can go to Art From the Heart in Harrogate. I think it’s far from London but they have a gorgeous supply of pens, inks and journals.

Did you remove the O-Ring from the mechanism on the 823? I did this to mine recently because I did not like that it would occasionally write itself dry even with the back cap unscrewed. I too love both brown inks and pens.
Hi Lori. I love your videos and watch them several times each. Your voice is so calming and I have to admit, I've fallen asleep late at night listening to you speak. I just wanted to tell you that I am a jewelry designer and use tons of crystals. All of them are made by SWAROVSKI, you're pronouncing it incorrectly. I just wanted to let you know. Thank you for sharing your beautiful pens and journaling techniques, ink swatches, etc. I am new to the fountain pen world, only since January. I believe that pens multiply when we're sleeping. It's the only rational explanation for how I got so many. I'll be looking forward to more wonderful videos.

I’m not sure if anyone’s mentioned it yet but the ink that came with our chai latte pens is called earth brown. However the interesting factor is that you can mix it with other platinum mixable inks to make your own color. There’s actually a chart for them. There are a few on that list that I feel would go perfect with this pen.
I'm so sorry that you didn't enjoy either of the pens I recommended. I've had such great experiences with my Hong Dian pens.....but I'm so happy that you are enjoying your Lamy! Did you get the Safari? That's a great choice! Thanks so much for watching.

Hey, Lori! The mixable ink from Platinum is called Earth Brown. I’ve two bottles aready, LOL, since that also came w the Shape of Heart Ivoire. I’ve inked my Chai Latte w OnInks Leather Patina. 🤎🤎🤎

Hi Lori! Do you notice if the SoH Chai Latte is lighter than your Calico 3776? I just got my Chai Latte in the mail a couple of days ago but it feels... a bit light and cheap in my hand? (KenchanCrafts described it perfectly in his video haha). I think I would pick up a Calico or Tortoise Celluloid next if those feel heavier than the SoH Chai. Also Pelikan is the last brand that do not have a pen from.. excited to see their new neutral launch! Fingers crossed my collection is complete after then (until a Montblanc makes its way into my life 😅)
I very much enjoy your channel! I purchased the PLATINUM PREPPY (too light in terms of weight and ink is not strong enough, thinking the nib isn't ideal either) and the HONG DIAN (cartridge converter was not effective and I found my pen dripping from the tip or waiting for ink to come down, plus it was not an ideal weight in my hand) from your recommendation on inexpensive pens. I didn't like either.
I went out on a limb and got a LAMY - LOL - that just sounds funny - love the LAMY A LOT! LAMY is a German made fountain pen. I am just beginning my pen journey... thanks for sharing!
Also, someone in your comments, somewhere, mentioned the importance of paper WITH the pen makes an improved dance. So, I will explore more there too!
Lastly, I'm nearly ready to trash all my other pens as I am really enjoying my LAMY fountain pen as a writing tool - makes me feel savvy, like a writer, and such fun!
