Its hard to compare to Glock. The 1911 set the bar high, and Glock raised it even higher. So new pistols have to meet the standards of the 1911 at the least.
It might be that 1911s don't seem too popular here. All the police forces and military sidearms are glocks and it is fairly difficult to get a handgun licence so that might be why.

@@josh_da_boss_hello4571 the M14 ws a terrible rifle for what it was meant for. The movie skewers Hollywood's love affair with violence at the same time in genuflects at it. A legitimate question I've been asking myself recently is: why does our society love violence in art, but mostly reject sex as a worthwhile subject for art? If I had to choose what I'd want in my personal life, I'd choose sex. Wouldn't anybody?
And the pair in Way of the Gun are NOT that good. Why would Del Toro waste all that ammo from the Galil so he could end up fighting mostly with the 1911. At least Phillipe had the 12 gauge.

Not a pleasant thing to hold on to in the desert. I have at present cut my cache down to approx 100 guns. I must say that I also will never own a Glock. Not because there is anything wrong with them if used for their intended purpose but because there seems to be some magic involved. I see so many guys buy a Glock as their first gun and all of a sudden they are the gun expert of the century!
I disagree, 1911's are like Harley Davidsons, traditional. Is it high tech, no. Is it fast and sexy, no. But when the chips are down, it will work if you take care of it. I know, I own a Harley, and several makes and models of 1911's. And if I ever had to give up everything I own, the last 2 things to go would be my Harley and my 1911's.
@Judge Dredd Like anything today, Harley Davidson included, it all depends on how you take care of it. There isn't a "Block" made today that in a Generation won't be in a landfill somewhere. Not to mention they were the only the only small arms company that willingly sold millions of guns to ISIS and Al Qaeda. Google it.
Sign me up for the opposition. The Mauser is a great hunting rifle(as evidenced by the fact that it's action is in most bolt action hunting rifles) but I'll take 5 extra rounds and the ability to get them off very quickly over pin point accuracy that I'm not good enough to take advantage of anyway. Weirdo Brit guns FTW!

With the exception of a barrel and barrel bushing replacement, it is all original and I can’t recall it ever malfunctioning.
Good video! "Then maybe the stuff from 100 years ago isn't so bad." The US military is still using the .50 cal M2 Heavy Barrel Machine Gun. It was designed in 1918 and production began in 1921, so it's a tad bit newer than the highly and properly venerated 1911 family, but still a century old. The Army recently removed one from the active inventory that was over 70 years old. It had been sent to the depot for maintenance (apparently that's done about once a decade) and would have been returned to service but for a field modification that made it too difficult to return to standard condition. I'm sure everyone has a suggestion for an addition, but for the James Bond fanboys out there (guilty), there is the PPK.
As long as you can shooter well, it is comfortable for you and it has been reliable for you, anything else does not matter. Why carry some that you really do not like, enjoy or are not good shooting with it? Personally I do not prefer 1911, however I don't dislike them either.

I'm hiding in the corner with my FN FNP-45 hoping the Glock guys and 1911 guys don't shoot me. My gun is an abomination. It's a big 45ACP that holds 14+1 and has a polymer frame but it's NOT a Glock. The Glock guys are going to notice!
Awesome video! 🍺😁👍 I love the 1911, but mainly because it feels so good in the hand. Well balanced. It's "just right" for my larger than average sized hands. Also, in a 10 mm or .357 mag, it's fun to shoot. Glocks, on the other hand... I'm not a fan. They definitely don't suck, I just don't like the way they look or feel in my hands. Not my bag. The M1 is a proven weapon. If you take care of it, it takes care of you. I can understand why some people don't like it, but I don't understand why anyone would hate it. The FAL... all I can say is that anyone who hasn't used one (which is most people) don't have anything worthwhile to say about it. I've fired my share if 7.62 rounds out of Fabrique Nationale arms; and while they aren't my weapon of choice, they sure are effective. I daresay even reliable! Great video! As an owner of several Glocks, a handful of 1911s, and a FAL, I'm guilty of some of the silliness you talked of. But really, we live in the golden age of civilian firearms technology. Sig, H&K,Walther, Smith and Wesson, Springfield, Ruger, etc etc, there have never been so many reliable, affordable, usable guns to choose from, and the ammunition we have to choose from has similarly advanced by leaps and bounds. I actually had to look up what it meant to "miss a shot" because that is a brand new concept to me. Speaking of "the gun," ever see The Way of the Gun, with Benecio Del Toro, Julliette Lewis, James Caan and Ryan Phillipe? Do yourself a favor.
Fine....If you ever mind yourself under attack by a determined assailant, shake your pecker at him..........What the hell, it might work!
And the pair in Way of the Gun are NOT that good. Why would Del Toro waste all that ammo from the Galil so he could end up fighting mostly with the 1911. At least Phillipe had the 12 gauge.

The Army recently removed one from the active inventory that was over 70 years old. You forgot one in the 1911, the man who carries one because his Dad sung it's praises and carried one before he did.
The colt 1911 is the most beautiful handgun in my opinion.
not very reliable though... low capacity heavy anchor
*laughs in c93 borchardt*
Policajt23 if the elephant man was a gun he’d be a c93.
The Sig P220 Equinox is the most beautiful handgun.
@Thomas Borisov Oh man, the Desert Eagle is also a cult firearm. It is amazingly beautiful.
@@jbloun911 The 1911 is very reliable. Just don't limp-wrist it and use good magazines - the vast majority of all reliability problems with the 1911 can be traced back to defective magazines and limp-wristing.
Mate I love the sarcasm.. just awesome 👍🏻 subscribed
FAL-Rhodesia intensifies
It is possible to have 2 - like the Father and the Son. The Garand and the 1911 go together like that!
Its been a few years, but shortly after the game "Call of Duty" came out (I had no idea), at the range, all of a sudden, there is a group of teenagers watching me - intently. It was weird, never happened before. Turns out, the sound of the clip ejecting was what gave it away. Ended up letting about half dozen kids take it for a spin. Not what they expected at all! I stopped taking it to the public range for a few years - too much attention! Its calmed again now.
New World War 2 Call of Duty game out, and they are using that classic ejecting sound as a marketing point lol, might want to be careful about it again
Well good for you, those vultures will use your ammo and leave you high and dry literally
I too love to praise the 1911 in front of Glock boys just to see them have a meltdown. Lol
I found your narration most amusing 😄 good job
You missed the all important church of CZ.
