The Pink House Loch Glass

- In this video, I photograph an incredible location in the Scottish Highlands. It's locally known as The Pink House Loch Glass.
Recently, I ventured to Scotland to photograph a location I've had earmarked for a very long time. Whilst the day wasn't as great as I had hoped for I still loved every minute of being there.
This is The Pink House located on Loch Glass

Brilliant location Gary and thanks for the honesty about the driftwood. The soundtrack was awesome and the drone footage great. That was some video.
Cheers Ian 👍👍
Gorgeous pictures, and the music for them, I LOVE IT
Cheers Peter 👍👍
Splendid video Gary. Just imagine living there, wow!
Was there today across the loch from it hunting for an old village, still as picturesque as ever. I’m local so it’s within daily reach for me 🙂. Anyone that’s never been though, trust me it’s worth the trip
Definitely worth the trip. Lots of folk hate the house though 😁😁
@@GaryGough yeah very true, no idea why to be honest. I had heard a couple of times there was plans to finish it and make it a holiday home but god knows what happened to them.
Nice place! I just stay in this village :D
Absolute brilliant
Cheers Paul 👍👍
Great drone footage and narration in this one Gary! Very interesting location! And who knew Scotland had such blue skies? Great film mate.
Cheers 👍👍
Wonderful video. The mystery is interesting but your ability to make a great photo makes the video for me. Great job.
Very nice!
What a cool location, great video Gary, I am imagining it with a lovely defused pink sunset/sunrise.
Fantastic video and photos once again, what a strange but magical place .
Thanks Joy 👍👍
loved it Gary. very authentic.
Cheers 👍👍
Beautiful. And then you see a ruddy wind farm in the background
An amazing escape from the fake reality of politics and into the REALITY of divine inspiration and creativity with artistic endeavors which lifted my soul into unfathomable heights of joy.
Imagine living there very isolated but magical and a swim everyday. Heaven.
Amazing, mysterious location!
Cheers Steve 👍👍
Pink!!!! - B&W shot looks cool. Nice voice over Paula, touch of class- very posh. Stardom awaits. MJ
And she pronounced her TH's properly. That's what happens when you're from good stock 😁😁
Nothing short of incredible, the location, Drone footage and music was brilliant. As for your images, just amazing, the image at 11.09 was the pick for me. Still trying to warm to the drift wood image. I know I'll never get to Scotland so thank you so much for sharing that video that shows some of it's beauty.
Cheers Ross 👍👍
gazza ... nice work mate.
Loved this Gary I've never heard or seen the pink house , I'm lucky enough to live in Bonny Scotland and want to venture to this place now another one to add to my bucket list , thanks Gary 👌👍
You have to go May, it's a fab place 👍👍
Nice find Gary - didn’t know that existed ! Looks like you visited on a cracking day 👌👌👍
Hi Murray. It was a super easy walk too 😁😁 there's a Munro close by though. When are we meeting up next? I've got a few trips up North if you're interested? I'll drop you a text xx
@@GaryGough sounds like a plan sir - let me know when you are up 👍👍
Love your VLOGS and Photography Gary - very inspirational mate (Lee)
Just watched your last two videos back to back Gary and thoroughly enjoyed them, especially the narration in a proper accent! What I thought was quite funny was that you said what a long walk in it was, then did the big reveal of the pink house, then showed us a B&W shot of it, brilliant.
Variety is the spice and all that :)
Great Gary Gough Video, thanks for sharing
Thanks Tony 👍👍
That's the traditional colour the old fortified tower houses used to be painted a few hundred years .
OH cool. There are quit a few building of the same colour dotted around Scotland I noticed :)
Imagine living there mate. I can only imagine how awesome that would be, though a little on the bleak side in winter perhaps :) Lovely images mate wit a nice bit of mystery to go along with it :) Great stuff as always :)
I fell in love with the place. I'm surprised a few people hate it though, really strange. Cheers 👍👍
Thank you for showing, Mr Gough! Great video, beautiful location, cool music. I think, there's nothing wrong with pushing some driftwood into the right direction... 😅
Woulda coulda shoulda.... yes, in such a location with that sunny weather every photographer will understand that. Can't wait to travel in the UK again someday. Best regards from Germany.
Cheers Dirk 👍👍
Well done 👏 👏👏
Thank you! 😃
Great video Gary, had a similar experience in Assynt 2 weeks ago when I hiked up Suilven after wild camping and thick fog a mist rolled in for sunrise, just have to go back I guess 😊👍📸
I can imagine the pink house in so many diffrent conditions. Great video.2x👍
Pink is a great colour :)
@@GaryGough Rattray Head lighthouse is a diffrent location. The lighthouse is in the sea just off a sandy beach. might be worth a google.
Beautiful bonnie Scotland, nice scenic vlog Mr Gough, Ive noticed over the years that in Ireland and Scotland they sometimes paint their houses in those pastle blue green light blue or even yellows, i think they suit the country environment.
It may have been a secret location but its not now, I loved the long sweep of the shore stones which leads up to the pink house, it must have been a great day out for you with good weather. And yes if only there was mist or snow or even rain whatever the conditions you would have still got some nice pictures there. Thank you for taking us with you again I enjoyed that.
Cheers as always Des 👍👍
Awesome Gary. We have a pink house here in Massachusetts that's quite popular with us photographers.
I loved it but looking at some of the comments there are lots who don't :)
I must say it is very pink. "Blancmange" .Oh on a different day for weather & it would be a stunner. You must return Sir. Stay safe my friend.
One thing you can count on, I'll go back. Hopefully when there is snow around :)
Interesting video, some great pics, was great to go along with you
P. S I like the slide show at the end
love what i see here...would go today if i wasn't where am, on the west coast of canada...
I'm sure you've got enough to go at where you live :)
Me too, but I am on the east coast of Australia.
This was a great video Gary! Really well explained and informative. Im only a small channel that I revamped during lockdown. Beautiful images and the breaks between the info was great. Just subscribed to follow more of your work. Thanks for sharing, Well done.
Cheers. Good luck with your channel. 👍👍
Dragons den idea - make a camera bag that looks like an interesting rock for when there’s not interesting foreground 🙄. Another great video, thanks.👍
You might be onto something there :)
What an amazing location and I'm surprised I've never seen images from that location before. Definitely need to replace the sky in that last shot though 😉 😁
lol I'll just go back when the conditions are better 👍👍
Loving the soundtrack, you always match that well with your locations. I’m so pleased you kept the wind turbines in, I know they are a bit “Marmite”. I love them.
I do too shhh don't tell anyone though :) Thanks Sue 👍👍
Will watch after the football GG x
The Pink House is a modern build that sadly ran into issues, further up Loch Glass you come to Wyvis Lodge which is stunning property, both are well photographed and well-known within Scotland.
The distinctive pink exterior of Culzie Lodge on the loch shore looks somewhat alien in this landscape, thus creates its own features which can be said to either be a like or dislike. Numerous movies and dramas plus the odd cookery show has been filmed from the Pink House.
Paul Paterson Photography
Oh cool. I thought it had to have a little history surrounding it. There is nothing online at all. Cheers 👍👍
I'd love to be able to buy the place!
Spent many holidays in the 1970s on the wyvis estate staying in culzie lodge with extended family. I have returned on a couple of occasions to visit the estate. Many Thanks to Marie and Gordon for there hospitality when we returned. The pink house was open to the elements on my last visit so good to see it has some protection now. Wyvis estate and especially Culzie Lodge ( Now demolished i believe ) holds the most fantastic memories for many of my family and I hope to return one day.
Fab pics Gary 1st class stuff
Cheers Jimmy 👍👍
Unbelievable locations and photos. Loved the drone footage also. Paula’s narration was another added bonus. I liked the fact it felt like a story from start to finish.
A location to return to and I am sure you will. Loved it.
Richie x
Cheers Richie 👍👍
Paula’s narration was great. She sounds like she is from Yorkshire!
She's a Yorkshire lass indeed :)
i really love the black and white version gary
Cheers Chris 👍👍
Hmm blue sky and pink house l definitely thinking the monochrome LoL.
😁😁 Cheers Scott
I'm in the area and hoping to go have a look in the next day or two. how long is the walk from the car park to the pink house?
At least the music was outstanding. The chimney issue is easily solved by raising the mountain range a wee bit.
Not a fan of the pink house then :)
Great video, very informative thank you. How long was the walk from the carpark?
Around 20 minutes. It's a gentle walk too
@@GaryGough Thank you, I have put it on my list to visit this year, fingers crossed...
Has there ever been a photographer that hasn't said: "if only"!
lol Definitely not 😁😁 Cheers 👍👍
I wasn’t expecting that .......
Lovely video, Gary.
As for the driftwood shot, you pose a model, do you not? Just think of the driftwood as a model you didn't have to pay, lol.
be ideal spot for an astro/ northern lights scene with it...
So now you have scouted the place are you going back on a starry night or a snowy day?
Can't wait. It's a long drive though :)
That pink house is an eyesore! Nice building, pity about the colour.
It seems to be a bit of a marmite location :)
Great video Gary, I also really like the music you've found to use, too many UA-cam videos use the broken out of key music and it either doesn't fit or is just boring and not particularly pleasent.
Well done on the photos Gary, and the location is fabulous. While the pink house house may be viewed as an interesting novelty to some, to my way of thinking it's a blight on the landscape, just like the wind turbines. Just my 2 cents...
It's there land so I can't see what the issue is with the colour at all. It's all subjective
Another great video Gary.
What an amazing location.
I didn't know that was there.
I don't think it is a blot on the landscape as it is miles from any other houses.
But the wind turbines everywhere are a definite blot on the landscape.
Great images as usual Gary.
Agree totally Tim, cheers 👍👍
I’m not surprised the house didn’t get planning consent as it’s an eyesore - good light or no, a blot on the landscape if ever I saw one …
How can anything be a blot when it's built on your own land? It's on private property as I mentioned.
@@GaryGough +1 Gary, and I love the colour, owner should finish it and live in it (as a weekender).
I swear that house was on the children's TV programme balamory
Was just there 2 weeks ago, long walk in but we’ll worth it. Like you, had pure blue skies too
Shame about the skies for both our sakes. I still loved it though :)
Was it where Archie from Ballamory lived?
lol
The wind turbines are a dreadful eyesore.
Heard of it but first time I've seen it ! Good work . Braw to hear an Englishman pronounce Loch properly also !
Cheers. I'm Welsh btw but my parents are Scottish 😁😁
@@GaryGough oooft, fookin hell, sorry for labelling you English🤭
Looks like there is substantial deforestation in the Scottish Highlands. I was not aware of that.
What a fabulous place, such a shame it couldn't be finished, the pink I believe comes from Ireland , houses were white washed with pigs blood mixed into the white , it gave protection from evil, I may have got this wrong so if any Irish subscribers could put me right I would really appreciate it, take care my friends, Oh by the way I like your image Gary ;0)
Definitely sounds likely Rich. Cheers 👍👍
I must admit, I also think the house is a bit of a blot on the landscape, but that’s entirely subjective and my view is coloured by the fact I only like pink in nature, i.e. in flowers and clouds. I still haven’t got over the shock of discovering my stepmother had painted her garage doors and front door pink, several years ago. I think this is a winter location and would be completely transformed with even just a dusting of snow, on the hills, or a thick frost, in the early morning or evening with some clouds above the house, picking up some pink colour from a rising or setting sun. I don’t feel the wind turbines are a blot on the landscape - I like them. Again, that’s subjective. I really like wind farms in water, but have never seen one firsthand, only photographs.
Imagine being scarred by something your stepmother did years ago 😁😁 I can't wait to go back, I loved the place 👍👍
Bah, can't hold a candle to suburban Fort Worth, TX. :o)
lol I don't that place at all :)
great photos, placing the piece of wood in frame? its a lot more innocent than taking something out in Photoshop if you ask me
Cheers Gary 👍👍
You could always drop a sky in gary
lol Now there's a good idea 😁😁😁
All that for a pink house? Never!😀
See my previous video
You said it was a long hike, and then at 5:31 a woman appears to stroll past pushing a baby buggy 😂 Or do my eyes deceive me ?
Slap a fake sky in, job done. 👍
yes, Photoshop sky replacement. A perfect image for it
This view is definitely a black and white shot. Pink ruins the shot.
How can you not like the contrasting colour? 😁😁
@@GaryGough true white would be a better color. Maybe not used to see a pink building.
Don,t know which is the worse eyesore, the pink house or the wind turbines? May be classed as a "folly", certainly is, grotesque.
Eye of the beholder and all that!
@@GaryGough Photogenic it is not, it,s an eyesore. Presume that,s Border,s, 100 and 1 better location,s, waste of time.
Nice place , however destroyed by thé ugly windfarm.
Nobody should be aloud to own land like that. It should be for all to enjoy. Great photo's but my personal choice would have been that spectacular landscape and not that house. Sorry.
lol no need to apologise. It's a bit of a marmite location 👍👍
No discredit to your images Gary, but that house is a blot on the landscape, looks awful, no matter what the weather type on the day
lol fair enough Andy 😁😁 👍👍
