I used to work at a local powersports dealership who was also an Oakley dealer. My job at the time was to build their eBay store, and we had an Oakley watch leftover in the case that we needed to sell since they'd stopped making watches the year before and weren't buying them back. Once I started digging into it to qualify it for a price point, I was suprised how much of a niche Oakley watches actually were. Long story short, I ended up selling it to a gentleman through eBay for I think $450. I am by no means a watch guy, but every time I handled the thing I did enjoy looking at it and feeling the quality of it.
Think my favorite is the Minute Machine, it's out there but not too crazy! Hoping to get my first high end watch by 30, I really am digging GS! Keep up the great work man!
I would never have guessed that some of the Oakley models were so expensive. The designs are a bit out there for me, but this is the kind of interesting subject that rarely gets covered. Well done.
Very interesting video - thanks for making it! That watch is pretty nice; it reminds me of the Omega Ploprof, where it's just so over the top that it's cool!
I have 2 myself the gear box, you exchange the bezel,so a came with one exchange bezel ,like all bronze, and like the one on your wrist mine gray / white,I believe I bought it almost 15 years in park city Utah, I think they are quite unique, I hardly wear mine two Oakley, too big, I have small wrist, thank you so much for bringing back the history of Oakley...all way from st George Utah.....
@TalonSei Hey man, nobody else has done it. I can honestly say I'm looking forward to more obscure watch deep dives. Hoping this catches on for you eventually.
Time tank genuinely looks pretty dope, especially if you changed the strap. I don't know what happened in the late 90s and early 00s man, but for some reason every business thought curvy lines were super cool. Its weird, considering how many amazing watches were being produced during the 20th century. Edit: A lot of the honorable mentions actually look good. Its a matter of them being priced correctly for what they are.
Hello Talon Sei. I have the Time Bomb 1 and the Time Bomb 2, a few Minute Machines including the Diamond version, I have Hollow Points, Crankcases, a limited white Warrant, Double Taps and the full set FMJ.
I remember going into the holiday season, maybe 2014, my local oakley store was giving 50% off tickets at the door, so I bought a minute machine, which at that time there was only 3 available in oakley retail stores nationwide, mine shipped from a Miami store to ohio, then a few weeks later, I got another 50% off at the door and grabbed a double tap. I keep them maintained and only ware on occasion, I normally keep my Breitling super avenger on my wrist, but i enjoy my oakley watches still ,I see some interesting peices on ebay from time to time but too risky for me on what you might receive working or barely working, great topic talon, longtime subscriber here cheers and happy holidays...
Nice video, I liked the D1's alot back in 2000. I must have about 8 of them still in different colors all hardly used. I did not realize folks collect these and other Oakleys. I guess I will start to look into selling mine now.
I have two TimeBombs (stealth and titanium). I don’t wear rings but when we married I got my first TB and I bought my wife an Icon. Even after all this time, nothing looks like these watches.
Eu comprei o minute machine mais enjoei ,achei muito agressivo e grande no pulso. com o tempo, quero o torpedo e comprarei futuramente. Estou pirando agora nos óculos subzero.
@@TalonSei That and there is a big community of collectors dedicated to all things Oakley, especially of items prior to it's sale to Luxottica by Jim. His boy started a new eye-wear brand last year, so perhaps he will dip back into the watch game at some point in the future.
I remember seeing the time bomb and instantly saying yeah thats not gonna age well or do well lol and here we are.....oakley not making watches lol most of the watches were way overpriced and not practical at all they all looked like watches from a really bad action spy movie for kids lol
Dude these watch deep dive was bad ass. You can definitely tell the amount of work you put into it
This is AWESOME…. As a teen I was obsessed with the Oakley 12 Gauge watch. Many years have passed and this was a jaunt down memory lane!
Love oakley sunglasses and had no idea they made watches back in the day. Cool history!
My watch algorithm brought me here, what a change of pace. I really did enjoy your video
Thanks for watching! 🤘🏼

Great vídeo!! In Brazil watches Oakley so really popular...
Sick video man.

The only Oakley watch I ever owned was the Oakley Minute Machine Tank, all in Titanium. Loved that thing.
I remember some of these in the shop showcases - crazy times (no pun intended).
Once Jim exited the company it has never been the same
Pretty interesting history lesson about Oakley’s watch game

This took me down a nostalgic path directly into ebays loving arms. Id love to see your metrics on this video 😂
As of now they aren’t good because it’s such a weird topic but maybe that will change in the future

Awesome to hear you own 2 of them!
I worked in a Vault from 2008 - 2011. It was a good day when I sold a minute machine.
The automotive naming was when they were getting into Nitro Racing. They backed a couple of race teams and outfitted them with timepieces.

I used to have a 12 Gauge which I loved and looked great in uniform. But the damn start/stop button would STAB into my hand HARD! lol
Marathon makes straps that smell like vanilla too! Lol
I bought my Gearbox in Time Square and I bought the Kitchen sink there.. they use to make great backpacks.. I still have my kitchen sink…
I have two TimeBombs (stealth and titanium). I don’t wear rings but when we married I got my first TB and I bought my wife an Icon. Even after all this time, nothing looks like these watches.
I wanted the Hollow Point for a while back in those days...
You really should have talked more about the Time Bomb II, one of oakleys few automatics, as well as the Kill Switch, with interchangeable bezels!
It's pretty common for rubber straps to be vanilla scented. My Marathon TSAR strap and a Bonetto Cinturini strap I have are both vanilla scented.
First my UA-cam algorithm and now you showing off a micro brand? What would y'all recommend for my first watch. Let's say Seiko money👀
In 2011 a submariner would have been about 7-8k I think. so oakley... wow, really going hard at the price there.
It's not uncommon for some higher end watch straps to be scented. Hublot, I believe was one of the first to do that.
Awesome idea for a video. Love all your content bro 👊🏼
I did even know Oakley made watches
I forgot about these!! 😂
Eu comprei o minute machine mais enjoei ,achei muito agressivo e grande no pulso. com o tempo, quero o torpedo e comprarei futuramente. Estou pirando agora nos óculos subzero.
These watches still command a lot of money in the current market.
For sure. Mainly because they are discontinued and kind of rare at this point.

Queda? 😂😂😂😂 Parei de assistir antes de começar
That rubber smells like vanilla. Many companies use it its not proprietary.
Talon is just an awesome dude.
Thanks for watching! 👊🏼
Still got my Gearbox! 😊
I remember seeing the time bomb and instantly saying yeah thats not gonna age well or do well lol and here we are.....oakley not making watches lol most of the watches were way overpriced and not practical at all they all looked like watches from a really bad action spy movie for kids lol
I'm glad they stuck to making sunglasses
