In response to the "wasted" opportunity in Robin's trailer, often times, the reason for creative limitations in both Genshin and Star Rail trailers have to do with choices around showcasing the character. Though Star Rail trailers have less restrictions than Genshin demos due to how the games' abilities work, in Robin's case, the song you're hearing is what plays during her Ultimate, and so a twist in the song itself wouldn't belong. There was a break from the song into a dark section was toward the start, but it seems they mostly wanted to end on a positive note.
Actually, there IS a hidden thing in the latter half of Robin's trailer: It's hard to hear, but once she hits the final chorus for the song there is a beat in the background playing the morse code sign for "SOS".
I don't really see a positive note at the end: her wings that was saving her until now are now severed, she is lying on the ground, maybe even dead, and all poeple do is taking photos...

i'm really glad you caught the synthesizer leitmotifs for jing yuan, blade, dan heng IL and jingliu as lore wise, they were all once part of the same group (the high cloud quintet) and it's the connective theme between their trailers. that leitmotif pops up quite often when they're in the same cutscenes together.
To add to this, it’s a suona known for its piercing sound made to overwhelm all over instruments. Though it’s used in funerals, it’s also used in wedding celebrations too.

I love Aventurine’s trailer so much! I remember the first patch of the story I hated him so much but once the second patch came out he became probably my most favorite character in the game so far!
But to be honest, his trailer is quite underwhelming compare to his backstory in main quest or compare to other trailers. I think avoiding spoiler is a reason.

That is exactly what is going on. The two games take places in a shared Multiverse so the Shogun and Acheron are variants of the same woman, Raiden Mei.

Some HSR trailers are a bit short because of the turned based RPG aspect of the game. Meaning there's not much room for showcasing the character, so they put more effort into visuals to compensate for it

There are many many references to Honkai Impact Characters, like Bronya and Seele, Silverwolf (which acutally plays herself in honkai impact in the start of the Video), Acheron, but its also someone like Natasha or Luocha. If you have his character, he actually will text you after the 2.2 patch basically to say no hard feelings and wishing you joy
Is Gepard a good character? Sure, yes, but he got recently overpowered by Aventurine by like several miles at least xD The latest trailers he says... and Jingliu is not even a late trailer at all xDDD Also my favorite team is the latest meta team: Robin, Aventurine, Topaz and Dr. Ratio. They have decided turns don't matter inthis turn-based game. It's simply ALWAYS their turn xD
You absolutely have to watch Honkai Impact 3rd animated shorts. They have some insanely good music. It's an older game made by Mihoyo, and it's deeply connected to Honkai: Star Rail. Their character trailers are pretty good too, but not the oldest ones. Newer ones are sick (since about 2 year old). P.S. Both Acheron and Raiden Shogun originate from a character from Honkai Impact 3rd - Raiden Mei. She has a sick animated short too (there are even earler versions, but let's not bring that up).
The trailers are always a blast to watch and u truly see how they evolved over time. As for favorite characters, thats a hard one, Acheron is personally my favorite since she's a version of Raiden Mei from Honkai Impact, something Hoyoverse loves to do. As for Robin, she actually sings that song during her ultimate where she buffs the entire team, wich is very cool, she also is bringing out 3 songs(not a joke by the way) so keep an eye out 😄 If u want to see more HSR music i strongly suggest u check out the jazz concert they did 2 weeks ago called S.P.A.R.K.L.E.(45 min long) and the Honkai Star Rail concert(2 hours long) that they did last week, they are a absolute blast to watch and listen to!

the characters from genshin you meant during acheron's trailer are the archons, basically the ruling god of a specific region but they do sound similar! :) acheron (you pronounce her name with a K), named after a river in the Underworld in Greek mythology, the river of woe and some sources say it's where the dead are ferried into Hades (lore-wise it's kind of relevant but it was only a very recent confirmation so no spoilers hehe) there are different regions in this game, just like genshin, but here we're in space so it's planets and space stations mostly

I use Fu Xuan myself. Can understand why going with a more muted approach to the theme of transcendence might be warranted: inexperience (and limited life-management skills) are her own greatest flaws. She's effectively an incarnation of Laplace's Demon. It's interesting to contrast her "fortune-teller shtick" with Black Swan's. Fu Xuan does rely on traditional fortune-telling to "cheat", but usually to buy time while running mental simulations of reality on either temporal direction. Black Swan tends to already know whatever she's going to know from the start, but the very fact other people want to know something makes it more apparent to her, so she can always say something that sounds entirely plausible and will nearly always be accurate as well. While Acheron and the Raiden Shogun are analogues and thus in some sense the same person, I'm not sure which could be considered more mature. Or powerful: Acheron's abilities can be used for a much more limited set of purposes than those of a god in Genshin Impact, archon or not. Also, their natures mean Acheron is hurting herself more, at least for the time being. There's a good reason that the theme in Adventurine's demo trailer isn't suitable for his boss battle, but I can't think of a non-spoilery way to explain it beyond the overt enough fact that Adventurine isn't representing himself in that battle - and the rather less obvious detail that he only trusts in luck to preserve his own life. The tricky thing about Robin is that while she's a central figure in the current storyline she's almost aggressively off-camera and the trailer is intended to not tell you too much. You'd have trouble noticing it just going off the character trailers in this order, but that makeup commercial you see snippets of in Acheron's trailer? At the end of it you can clearly see it's Robin starring in it. This trailer is monofocused on a specific manufactured image, but there's definitely stuff you're not seeing here. And from what little we know of her backstory it's slightly more likely the darker visuals refer to the prequel to her celebrity career than the dark side of fame, but it could go either way.
Bailu unfortunately isn't all that powerful, the only reason she was able to one-shot the guards was purely to show off her ability to resurrect. She's a decent healer and her ability to resurrect is pretty powerful, but overall, several characters are better for being a support than her (mostly because of her random healing)
A year after release, we now have Serval's song blended with CN rap by an NPC character that immediately rose to renown among players. Bonkers in the best way.

theres no room to compare aventurine boss battle music and his trailer, they are unique on their own and present what they need to present properly, especialy when you fight him, while here is just his character presentation to the fans, i dont think one is worse that other, they are both very good
Himeko ISN'T the same Himeko as in HI3; (unfortunately) it's confirmed that Himeko is dead. However, HSR Himeko did cameo in the HI3 manga Alien Space - her image was captured on a screen while Welt Yang and the Void Archives were having a conversation. In fact, HSR Himeko is why Welt Yang traveled to this universe - because he failed to protect HI3 Himeko, his former college student, since he learned about HSR Himeko he felt it necessary to come and personally protect her this time. And, as far as we know, Welt Yang is the ONLY character that is the exact same in both HI3 and HSR. Every other character (Himeko, Silver Wolf, Bronya, Seele, Natalia, Acheron, and perhaps others as this is off the top of my head) are alternate universe versions of HI3 characters.

Since Honkai Star Rail is set in a more futuristic setting, Hoyo-Mix has a lot more freedom in their creativity. In Genshin Impact, they mainly only get to use edm for Inazuma/Electro OSTs. HSR used GI as a stepping stone at first to iron out all the flaws GI had. Now, both games are insanely good in their musical and visual quality. Personally, I like GI’s soundtracks more because it will lean towards physical instruments. But, HSR’s futuristic setting allows more exciting, colorful, and unique animations.
My comment contains some spoilers on character personalities and motives, so please do ignore if you plan on playing these games eventually. Robin is a character that encompasses hope. A philanthropist, she even went to a war-torn planet to help out the victims and ended up getting shot herself. She's a lover of life and a firm believer in the capabilities of humanity when they are given their own agency. So, in that sense, imo, while a twist would've been nice (there certainly is space in her story for it), it does make more sense for the trailer to end on a positive note. I love Ei (the Raiden Shogun) from Genshin, and while Ei's story was about running away from grief (which she eventually overcame and is now all the better for it), Acheron's is more about helping the departed. Both characters have heavy themes of grief, but their ways of handling it are quite different. Acheron is a more philosophical character, whereas Ei is more straightforward, so in that sense, I can understand why Acheron comes across as more mature. Both are exceedingly powerful in their own right. I loved your conversation about Franz Kafka. I have the book, but haven't finish reading it. Perhaps I'll pick it back up again. I enjoyed your reaction. Hopefully you'll also upload another once more characters release.
1. What Jingyuan was playing is Chinese Chess, it's not an "equivalent" to chess, but has its own history. 2. Those red flower, Lycoris radiata, from Blade's trailer is not Japanese. They are never Japanese. Their relation to the death originated from Buddhism. Also Blade's nationality is unknown but he spent most of his life in Xian Zhou which was meant to be a Chinese representation.

The “saxophone” in Aventurine’s trailer isn’t a saxophone. It’s a clarinet. A clarinet can be used in Jazzy music.

Some HSR trailers are a bit short because of the turned based RPG aspect of the game. Meaning there's not much room for showcasing the character, so they put more effort into visuals to compensate for it

I saw Dali in the background and knew we were gonna have good takes. I think the "Apply your color" bit is reminiscent of the Blade Runner 2049 meme. The surprise in the Robin trailer is the Morse Code for SOS playing at one part in it.
There are many many references to Honkai Impact Characters, like Bronya and Seele, Silverwolf (which acutally plays herself in honkai impact in the start of the Video), Acheron, but its also someone like Natasha or Luocha.

I’d like to think that aventurine trailer, is more complete than his boss battle theme, because he himself admits that he was only doing it for the purpose of helping the IPC gain traction in penacony. his entire antagonist demeanor towards the astral express was a cleverly crafted scheme. If you have his character, he actually will text you after the 2.2 patch basically to say no hard feelings and wishing you joy
Is Gepard a good character? Sure, yes, but he got recently overpowered by Aventurine by like several miles at least xD

Also my favorite team is the latest meta team: Robin, Aventurine, Topaz and Dr. Ratio. They have decided turns don't matter inthis turn-based game. It's simply ALWAYS their turn xD
You absolutely have to watch Honkai Impact 3rd animated shorts. They have some insanely good music. It's an older game made by Mihoyo, and it's deeply connected to Honkai: Star Rail.
Their character trailers are pretty good too, but not the oldest ones. Newer ones are sick (since about 2 year old).
P.S. Both Acheron and Raiden Shogun originate from a character from Honkai Impact 3rd - Raiden Mei. She has a sick animated short too (there are even earler versions, but let's not bring that up).

The trailers are always a blast to watch and u truly see how they evolved over time.
As for favorite characters, thats a hard one, Acheron is personally my favorite since she's a version of Raiden Mei from Honkai Impact, something Hoyoverse loves to do.
As for Robin, she actually sings that song during her ultimate where she buffs the entire team, wich is very cool, she also is bringing out 3 songs(not a joke by the way) so keep an eye out 😄
If u want to see more HSR music i strongly suggest u check out the jazz concert they did 2 weeks ago called S.P.A.R.K.L.E.(45 min long) and the Honkai Star Rail concert(2 hours long) that they did last week, they are a absolute blast to watch and listen to!

the characters from genshin you meant during acheron's trailer are the archons, basically the ruling god of a specific region but they do sound similar! :)
acheron (you pronounce her name with a K), named after a river in the Underworld in Greek mythology, the river of woe and some sources say it's where the dead are ferried into Hades (lore-wise it's kind of relevant but it was only a very recent confirmation so no spoilers hehe)
there are different regions in this game, just like genshin, but here we're in space so it's planets and space stations mostly

I use Fu Xuan myself. Can understand why going with a more muted approach to the theme of transcendence might be warranted: inexperience (and limited life-management skills) are her own greatest flaws. She's effectively an incarnation of Laplace's Demon. It's interesting to contrast her "fortune-teller shtick" with Black Swan's. Fu Xuan does rely on traditional fortune-telling to "cheat", but usually to buy time while running mental simulations of reality on either temporal direction. Black Swan tends to already know whatever she's going to know from the start, but the very fact other people want to know something makes it more apparent to her, so she can always say something that sounds entirely plausible and will nearly always be accurate as well.
While Acheron and the Raiden Shogun are analogues and thus in some sense the same person, I'm not sure which could be considered more mature. Or powerful: Acheron's abilities can be used for a much more limited set of purposes than those of a god in Genshin Impact, archon or not. Also, their natures mean Acheron is hurting herself more, at least for the time being.
There's a good reason that the theme in Adventurine's demo trailer isn't suitable for his boss battle, but I can't think of a non-spoilery way to explain it beyond the overt enough fact that Adventurine isn't representing himself in that battle - and the rather less obvious detail that he only trusts in luck to preserve his own life.
The tricky thing about Robin is that while she's a central figure in the current storyline she's almost aggressively off-camera and the trailer is intended to not tell you too much. You'd have trouble noticing it just going off the character trailers in this order, but that makeup commercial you see snippets of in Acheron's trailer? At the end of it you can clearly see it's Robin starring in it. This trailer is monofocused on a specific manufactured image, but there's definitely stuff you're not seeing here. And from what little we know of her backstory it's slightly more likely the darker visuals refer to the prequel to her celebrity career than the dark side of fame, but it could go either way.

Bailu unfortunately isn't all that powerful, the only reason she was able to one-shot the guards was purely to show off her ability to resurrect. She's a decent healer and her ability to resurrect is pretty powerful, but overall, several characters are better for being a support than her (mostly because of her random healing)

She's similar to Raiden Shogun because she's the Star Rail version of Mei from Honkai 3rd, and Shogun was based on Mei.
Himeko ISN'T the same Himeko as in HI3; (unfortunately) it's confirmed that Himeko is dead. However, HSR Himeko did cameo in the HI3 manga Alien Space - her image was captured on a screen while Welt Yang and the Void Archives were having a conversation. In fact, HSR Himeko is why Welt Yang traveled to this universe - because he failed to protect HI3 Himeko, his former college student, since he learned about HSR Himeko he felt it necessary to come and personally protect her this time.
And, as far as we know, Welt Yang is the ONLY character that is the exact same in both HI3 and HSR. Every other character (Himeko, Silver Wolf, Bronya, Seele, Natalia, Acheron, and perhaps others as this is off the top of my head) are alternate universe versions of HI3 characters.

Since Honkai Star Rail is set in a more futuristic setting, Hoyo-Mix has a lot more freedom in their creativity. In Genshin Impact, they mainly only get to use edm for Inazuma/Electro OSTs. HSR used GI as a stepping stone at first to iron out all the flaws GI had. Now, both games are insanely good in their musical and visual quality. Personally, I like GI’s soundtracks more because it will lean towards physical instruments. But, HSR’s futuristic setting allows more exciting, colorful, and unique animations.
My comment contains some spoilers on character personalities and motives, so please do ignore if you plan on playing these games eventually.
Robin is a character that encompasses hope. A philanthropist, she even went to a war-torn planet to help out the victims and ended up getting shot herself. She's a lover of life and a firm believer in the capabilities of humanity when they are given their own agency. So, in that sense, imo, while a twist would've been nice (there certainly is space in her story for it), it does make more sense for the trailer to end on a positive note.
I love Ei (the Raiden Shogun) from Genshin, and while Ei's story was about running away from grief (which she eventually overcame and is now all the better for it), Acheron's is more about helping the departed. Both characters have heavy themes of grief, but their ways of handling it are quite different. Acheron is a more philosophical character, whereas Ei is more straightforward, so in that sense, I can understand why Acheron comes across as more mature. Both are exceedingly powerful in their own right.

1. What Jingyuan was playing is Chinese Chess, it's not an "equivalent" to chess, but has its own history.
2. Those red flower, Lycoris radiata, from Blade's trailer is not Japanese. They are never Japanese. Their relation to the death originated from Buddhism. Also Blade's nationality is unknown but he spent most of his life in Xian Zhou which was meant to be a Chinese representation.

Honestly I loved how you broke down the music and explained how it represents the characters it was amazing especially since you're a musician and I like seeing things from a professional's point of view
But I was disappointed with how you didn't really analyse any at all or even spoke much about the music in some trailers- especially with Acheron's, I loved her OST but you didn't really mention any motifs or go into detail
