I think shows are truly the utter test of a mother daughter relationship. So much pressure, high emotions, tight timings there is always a rush and both living in such tight quaters. Keep on cracking on, you are doing amazing!
Olivia, sometimes you need to let go of the perfect side of thing's and start doing because you lovet it, and just ride, ride for yourself and your own happiness and joy! I may not be at the same level as you but I was there, where you are now. It went amazing at home and as soon I got to a show everything started to go down hill. But then my trainer said to me, "you need to believe in yourself". It took a loong time before that got into my head, but when I did I realized that I have forgot all about the "have fun" and who important it really is. I wish you the best of lucky and I hope you get the marks you work so hard for❤
THIS!!! If you want to feel better, it took me 20 minutes of my 60 minute private lesson just to get on! I have a tricky boy and evidently that day's trick was to move his hindquarters away from the block and face me every time I was about to put my foot in the stirrup. I was proud of myself that i didn't get frustrated with him, we just worked through it and then let it go!
Thank y Olivia for being so honest and true with us, sometimes when we see someone else's struggles we can better understand our own but we also all appreciate you including us in your highs and lows.

keep in mind that learning curves aren't actually smooth curves. Actually learning and improving things is more likely to happen in small jumps. So you can be working on something and learning things and taking on board all those small little things without always seeing a change - especially in things which are externally judged or ranked. But then you get a period were you have enough cumulative small bits of learning that it makes a noticeable and changeable effect and that's when you see results. It's even more difficult when you are at a higher level as well because you are working on finesse and small things as opposed to learning whole new skills. So you can probably think back to when you were first learning how to do a half pass or something. Trying it and trying it and almost getting it but not quite and then one day, you can do a half pass. That's a clear improvement - couldn't do half pass/can do half pass. But there isn't a change that is as clear cut when you are doing it at a more advanced level (this is not a critique of your half passes at all, I just picked a move at random that I know you can do). Just one day you would look back and think, "oh wow this is so much better than it was a year ago". It's not that you made a big jump in skill on the one year mark, you made incremental improvement over that one year. It's just that it takes that looking back to see the change. (sorry this is long, I hope it makes some sense)
Personally I don't mind long vlogs :) Dressage is complicated enough, but to go out there and do it already shows what a strong person you are. It's easy to look at the mistakes and focus on those, but what about the areas where you did good and got good marks? Maybe celebrate those a bit more. You're a fabulous rider, don't let a bad ride or some bad marks get you down for too long. Believe in you :) You got this!
Stay positive, don,t eat chocolate and keep up the great vlogs you make😘 with horses it,s sometimes like you don,t get forward. 2 steps forward, 1 step back. But if you don,t give up all of a sudden they get it. I wish I could ride like you. So don,t beat yourselve too much up.
Don’t be so hard on yourself! Your an amazing rider with phenomenal abilities to go higher and higher and just think... you have beautiful people around you that support EVERYTHING you do! You have amazing horses that try their best every. Time. You ride them... some days may feel worse than others but imagine you didn’t have them, instead, you had a horse you couldn’t work with... that you didn’t get along with... that didn’t have the talent your horses do. And then everything around you supports what your doing and who you aspire to be... there are some people in the world that are working towards being just like you but they can’t because they can’t afford it or don’t have the support like you do. Sorry for the rant but YOU ARE AMAZING and don’t ever think your not because there is other people out there that want to be just like you... but they don’t have the chance... Love you x

By the way, it sounds from this vlog like your mum may play a big role in your mindset. When your mum says that she doesn’t know how to critique positively it may be that your mindset difficulties have come from years of disagreement and negative critique. I think it may really help you both for you to help your mum become more positive and to understand how much the way she talks affects you xxx

I think you should ask yourself "what have i done that made my life better?" you are an amazing rider and you have accomplished lots and you have lots to be greatful for. Remember that mark was on that one ride, not on how you ride on a regular basis not on you as a person not for how you live your life and not on how you felt. So be kinder to yourself and find the positive in everything! A lot worse could have happened.
Long vlogs please, and your whole team has come so so far. Score sheets are limited and really only reflect on those minutes under judgement, it is the millions of hours in between comps that really matter. :)

You should also think of it not as marks as bad or good but just a small snipit on your life to where you want to be don’t let other people determine wether it was good or bad take the criticism for what it is let it help not hinder you or your horses or even your life I love all the sparkles you have on your browbands you are doing excellent both on yourself and your horses and at the end of the day as long as you and your horses are happy that’s all that matters there will be other shows sorry for the rant but yes keep it up I love how inspirational you are and how normal not like all competitors that don’t show the ups and downs and they don’t take time for the normal people that have exactly the same problems after all we are all human
