How I Ranked 1st in Law School Finals - Study With Me
Вставка
- Опубліковано 4 жов 2024
- In my law school exams last summer I topped the 150 students who sat the exams in London, using a pretty simple but highly effective exam prep technique. The study methods I share in this video are the same ones that I helped me dramatically improve my exam results between my first and final years at Cambridge University 😀
This 2-day study with me should hopefully give you an idea of how I spend a couple of days studying for exams towards the start of my revision process. I've tried to combine practical study tips with more of a day in the life / study with me style, so let me know what you think of the vid in the comments 🤗
Hope you're keeping well in isolation and enjoy xx

WOOOOO!! Thanks so much Roberto! Really means a lot and very excited for things to come :)
@@liam.porritt you deserve it!
You called it
"be happy with what you have, while working for what you want." I love this quote. Keeping it lol.

OMG can’t believe I only found your channel now - I’m a law student as well and found this really helpful🤗
Thanks so much! Good luck with everything Elena 😁
🤣 LOL I was thinking to myself this is the lawyer version of Ali Abdaal and then I saw your description 👌nice work man gonna borrow inspiration for my own videos
This guy is absolutely amazing. He's relatable.
Thank you so so much! Glad you’re finding my vids relatable 😁
So true 🤗

I'm in first-year law and I've finally decided (two weeks before exams) to actually pull myself together...you are a godsend
Damn good luck
Lol. I've been qualified 20 years and I still do the wandering around explaining thing before I speak at important meetings. Great advice for exams and for practice too!
I never knew someone that memorises like me. I always need to walk around my room to memorise and people thought I was strange for doing that. I'm glad I found your channel. Keep up the good work 😊😊
Little Joana I do the same like you do and I thought I was the only one
In the Philippines we need to study *8 subjects* and their exams is compressed in 1 month; 4 Sundays with 2 exams per Sunday where one is in the morning and the other in the afternoon. It’s the most difficult exam in the country and it wrecks you mentally, financially, physically, etc. I hope it’s easier and more efficient in other countries. And for anyone who wants to venture into law school - make sure you’re passionate and consistently discipled to *WANT* to become a lawyer.
Man u r my drug
U motivate me way too much than needed 🤣 appreciate the hard work u put into these vids
sahal anoop Thanks so much man! Hugely appreciated, and hope I can continue to help 🤗🤗
Hi, Liam. I'm a law student in the Philippines and I stumbled upon your video after typing the keywords "study with me law student". Hope you continue with this kind of content. This keeps me motivated despite everything. ✌️
Thank you so much Bernice! Glad you enjoyed and can’t wait to share more videos with you soon - good luck with everything 🤗
I like how everything you say has a point to make. Very concise but clear. I understood everything throughout.🥺🥺
Thank you 🤗
Just before my law exam in a month happy to find you
@ monira mosharraf clat eh . same here
Back again one month more to do last law exams pray for me
Everyone has their own strategies. Congratulations on getting #1! Since there is only 1 number 1 spot, describing the other students' experiences could be helpful

So I‘m a law student in Germany and honestly searched for videos like these for months!! Thank you soo much for all the work you‘re putting in them🙏🏼 much love
Keep in mind that he is studying common law. Germany has civil law. Applying his methods in Germany will result in complete failure. True and tested for civil law: Write tests (Klausuren).
@@anja5311 why what's wrong
@@fifireesha In Germany you do not take tests that require you to answers single questions or to quote facts. You have to apply a systemic approach to the subject/case. In other words: You thumb through the whole civil code to find a solution to a case, applying abstract principles to a concrete case.
Absolutely loveedd this! Your editing is so on point! 👌
Thank you so much Mani!!
this is the most helpful and reassuring study video i’ve found!! i’ve tried flash cards, mind maps, literally EVERY revision method you can think! but i’ve always found reviewing and memorising notes make more sense and are better for me, so finding out that you use that method as well reassures me that what i’m doing ain’t wrong - and it works! thank you for these helpful tips - you’ve defo got a new subscriber! have a fab day 💓
Thank you! This is so relatable..i just subscribed.
Memorizing by reading out loud is just brilliant. You're reading, and at the same time you're hearing yourself read it..which is twice as more effective than just reading it in your mind. Also, the added benefit of not drifting away or falling asleep.
We don't see much UA-camrs doing this now. In fact you're the first i'm coming across.
Could you maybe think about doing a study with me style video sometime?
thanks so much, genuinely one of the most helpful and real yt channels out there!
Wahhhh!! Thank you Sophie! This has really made me smile :) Hope I can keep things helpful and real... forever :p
You absolute legend! Very inspirational. Keep up the good work, hope you do well in your exams!
You've been on fire these past months, Liam! Another great video.Hope you're keeping well in these turbulent times! :)
Thank you so much Ben! This has made my Friday evening, so very much appreciated!! Hope you're well too and hopefully will be able to keep making awesome videos :)
I've implemented my version of your spaced repetition planner and so far it works pretty good for the subjects I have to study! So thanks for the advices!!!
Love to hear that Karin - hope you are staying well, and you're welcome for the advice as always 🤗 xx
@@liam.porritt I am well, hope you too!
Can’t describe how much I love this video and how helpful it was!!
Wahhh thank you so so much :)
I'm only a few minutes in and I'm already tired and don't want to go to school tomorrow just from watching lol.
flashcards don't work for me, also. Active recall is king, truly! If I don't walk in my room and talk to myself, i wont remember it. Thank you for this video, love it! It reassured my way of studying and gave me some new tips.
Flashcards are good for discrete informations especially when you add an image but can be useless if you have to learn a whole text,
Mind mapping in this case is better
And Rewriting can be good also
Agree with all of this Hicham!
Found your channel randomly and started binge watching your videos and enjoyed every second of it. Your videos motivate me to do my work.
Wow how did I just find your channel now? Thankyou, thankyou and thankyou! I'm an aspiring law student currently studying A-levels via online distance learning (and admittedly falling behind) and this is exactly what I needed to sort myself out! Thankyou :)
I'm surprised because basically I follow these 3 steps to study.
Love your videos. ❤
Amazing! Would you say your method of memorising is pretty similar to mine!? Glad you enjoyed and thanks again for watching 🤗
Thank god I found your channel you're so motivating! I'm also a Law student, almost half way through final exams and man I was about to give up , like LAW IS HARD but we got this hahaha🤍😅
Also, would you please be able to do a video on how to write the perfect essay? ☺️
I have planned this out already actually, so will definitely try and do it at some point soon! Have quite a lot of ideas for videos though, so not sure exactly when I'll make it, but thanks for the recommendation and I'll definitely push this forward to make ASAP 😀
I agree👌🏼
Your videos are honestly a blessing to watch. I appreciate the time you take in editing them and passing on your knowledge to us. I am not quite finished with high school yet but am sure I want to pursue law, not to mention this quarantine has taken a toll on my learning, however my motivation is stronger and you have helped immensely in keeping the flame alive. You sir will be a great lawyer one day and I hope to god that you succeed. 👍
Thanks so much Oscar! Good luck to you and I really appreciate that you took the time to send this 😀😀
I could listen to you all day. I relate so much in your ways of studying especially in keeping the desk neat as much as possible even when highlighting or rambling down notes. I love it! 💕
You look like a nice, down to earth guy. Thanks for the content, your hardwork is much appriciated.
I aspire to be like you when I grow up... a lawyer, graduated 1st in class, hardworking... Wow.
Starting my legal studies, thank you for the tips
Hi, Liam. I just want to tell you that you are so relatable and so on point in your discussion, not just dumping ideas to your audience. Plus, you encourage me so much. You have a lot of content to study in your law school, but you don’t lose focus. I am actually applying the Liam’s circles and burst. I love the brain splurge. More powers to you!
Btw ur underrated and definitely gonna go massive soon

Thank you so much for commenting and subscribing! SO glad you found this helpful and I look forward to seeing you again very soon in another video 🤗
This is incredibly helpful, and now has inspired me to go study using this method aha thank you!!
you're amazing for this!
This is an amazing channel !! Binge watching currently, so glad I found it !!
I always used so many methods to study(yes it works but it was so time consuming), but your video just proved that it's better to have simple steps that are effective!! Thanks again Liam for the absolutely fantastic video :)
Hey Mariam! Yeh - I think it's tough to get a balance between finding the best techniques that really work for you, and spending too much time developing study materials and not enough time actually studying them! So yeh, for me I really prioritise active recall and spending as much time on that, such that I spend much less time on more complex study methods :)
@@liam.porritt exactly!!
Your videos are so helpful . I can see the changes in my results. I appreciate the detailed explanation. Thanks ya!
A true gem. U r such an inspiration👏....Love all ur videos ❤❤😍

Thank you so much for this! Will be very helpful when I start my law programme in October!
This is so helpful and structured! If only i had the patience to study like you all day long..
Your videos make me motivate for my future university plan that I have!
I don't know why but i actually watched this video like 10 times in a row, such great quality!!
God I hate law school. I've tried it all....I'm just not passionate about it at all. I don't know why I chose This. This just motivated me to quit. Architecture school here I come.
L M glad you found a new path to follow 😃
Good luck with architecture school :)
@Kenn Klein how much did they pay you for that
I smell laziness
@Kenn Klein yeah i rather not be blacklisted by the Bar committee before i even have my JD
This video is extremely helpful! Do you have any videos on essay writings? For example, how you understand, research, plan and structure your essays? Thank you so much Liam :)
Thank you so much - so glad you found it helpful!! I've had a couple of people asking me that now so will hopefully make a video on essay writing soon! Thanks again and see you again soon xx
Hey Liam,
I hope you’re well.
Did you manage to make this video yet? If so please link it in the comments here.
Love this type of high quality content, always happy to find a new channel to subscribe to that provides this type, really appreciate it.
finally a relatable study with me video
My sister (also a law student) does similar studying techniques. Her main difference is when she’s memorising her work, she’ll explain to us (her family who has no knowledge of law practices) in a way that we can understand or to her boyfriend who is a practicing lawyer.
Lucky her having a family willing to listen 😂
I love your love for knowledge. I think it's so interesting. You question things and think deeply I can tell. Hey were on lock down... have you ever thought about doing a Q and A?
If so two questions I want to ask is
How old are you?
What other things do you enjoy learning about besides academics?
You are simply amazing, continue with this good work! Btw im also master student for criminal law, i enjoy watching your videos and tips!
Thank you so so much 😁😁
I'm also a law UA-camr and I can only aspire to this level of academic and video quality performance haha. Keep up the awesome work man
You should look into using Notion instead of Excel for your space repetition scheduling! It allows you to do this, as well as directly linking to your notes created in Notion for an efficient experience. Ali Abdaal actually has some good videos on Notion; you should check it out!!
Great Video Liam! I always enjoy watching your content! It had helped structure my university stuff!
I love this channel.periodttt.
Really Amazing content. Really hope more people get to know about you soon!
if there's one thing that helped me with examinations and preparing for such exams, it is this: making deductions. It not only demonstrates that you "know" the material, it indicates that you know how to think about the material in a critical way.
also: 90 percent of what you study will, ultimately, be forgotten so focus only on the most important material.
You’re really Amazing and ur Reading playlist on Apple Music is epic And I’m Law Student as well 😂❤️🔥
I will start over my review and apply this. Thank you!!!
High value content! Thanks for being great, I subscribed 🙂👍🏼👍🏼
Thanks so much Seth! Really glad you enjoyed and see you again soon 🤗🤗
So informative and enjoyable to watch!
Thank you so much for your quality content!
Pls do more vids...im a pre law student ...and I love this motivation...pls make more day in the lives
Hey Liam thanks for the insightful video!
Would you ever consider making a video on how to secure a training contract at magic circle law firms or a video on how you prepared for the Cambridge interview?
Thanks again for the wonderful content and good luck on your LPC exams!
Thanks a lot Cole! Ummm, yeh definitely will do a video with a bit more detail on how I got a TC - I want to do this with HR at Clifford Chance though so we can ask each other questions, as I think that will be really useful and a bit different to what other people have already done :)... But obviously have to wait until the end of lockdown for that!
Then, as for the Cambridge interview, I have considered it, but this varies soooooo much between different subjects that to be honest I don't think it would be that useful! Plus, it was a long time ago for me, so I feel others are better placed to do this than I am!
Thanks a lot though, and this has definitely prompted me to think about the TC video! Thanks a lot and good luck to you too :)
Liam Porritt which law school did you go to?
Thanks for the video, very helpfull!!
keep it up! 👍👍
Thank you!!
I've always been the student that types out everything the lecturer is saying... needless to say I've never done very well in exams. So your videos are extremely helpful, thank you.
Thanks for this, Liam.. I've always been a huge fan of Ali's method but wondered how the hell it would work for my subject (law) vs. medicine. Thank you so much!
My procrastination is validated bc I’m watching this useful video, right?? So basically I’m being productive😍😂
NNS 12 100% allowed to procrastinate when you’re watching productivity happen = that’s how osmosis works, right? 😂
Same! 😂
Interesting actually, I constantly explain concepts to an invisible third person in my head and my retention and quality of explication from that process is fantastic, but I for whatever reason never put the dots together to use it for law study. My school uses open book exams so I was first skeptical of whether this technique was a closed book technique (why remember all the details when you have a cheat sheet) but now I actually see great value in knowing and revising the information through that explanatory voice as an aid in application even if the materials are already right in front of you. I find that my writing muddies the point and confuses my answers because it becomes too complicated or I achieve to fit as much meaning in as possible while losing value as a cohesive argument which may be resolved by simplifying and creating logical connections through your suggested process of explaining the law to the ghosts in your walls. Cool vid.
Had a blast reading this, thanks!
I love watching your videos! You motivate me and it shows you put a lot effort in every video ((;
Thank you so much!!

A no nonsense video. Finally someone who actually teaches you how to make notes and study rather than focusing on beautifying your notes.
Thanks buddy 🤗🤗
omg liam, you sort of sound like Ali-A. Your brother Alex said so aswell!
Oh my God! I use the exact same technique of talking to myself until I get dehydrated. My mom usually comes to my room and asks me if I am talking to someone haha. Revising my notes out loud allows me to narrate a story haha. I mainly use this technique for History, Geography, philosophy etc.
