- This is what hundreds of people around America were doing in early January, which sparked chaos-bringing back controversial behavior and animal-like instincts. From adults to children, everyone seems to be affected. But this strange phenomenon doesn’t end in-store . . .

I feel like I’m living in an alternate reality when I was younger we would get made fun of for going to thrift shops, Kmart, Walmart, etc. but now four-year-old are being made fun of for not having a $45 cup
Definitely weird. I guess whatever is down comes up and vice versa 😂
I want to wake up and find out what happened to this world was a bad dream.
Right like I wanna go back to being bullied bc I was wearing Walmart brand shoes. Or bc I didn't have a name brand backpack bc at least that stuff is actually gonna be used and appreciated once u buy the kids thos items. The only reason all kids want them is like she said fomo the fear of missing out. Bc kids r gullible asfk n if there fav influencers have something they NEED to have it to.
Champion used to be a cheap thrift brand before it blew up. Thats nuts right there.
It’s in the same vein , it’s just end stage capitalism now . It’s only going to get worse . The women that started this are now incentivized. Same thing for any other white man or woman who is in a higher tax bracket. They do this constantly taking advantage of working class people to ultimately line their pockets. With no benefit to the working class whatsoever this is genuinely just making them richer. While you drink out of a $50 cup
That kid being salty af over getting a Yeti (but then getting the Stanley anyway) is the epitome of everything I hate
Would have been a great lesson to learn we all can't have the things we want, when we want...
It’s just about the status symbol. They have adults giving them the example that all that matters is status. Which you can’t have without money. Completely neglecting the reality that it’s a cup that has the same function as the other cup. And does absolutely nothing different. Holds no value besides being a cup. This is also to attribute to capitalism because parents would rather front as one day I will be a millionaire and provide my child with everything so parents are so obsessed with yeah I want to provide the status symbol. Instead of wait status does not matter. Practically it’s irresponsible to spend $50 on a cup that has the same function as any other thermos cup. Instead of explaining that the parent puts more value on a status symbol that will represent oh I can afford this for my child.
If your child gets upset at a Christmas gift then you seriously need to reevaluate your life as a parent. Also, you are feeling miserably. Take a guess what that little girl is going to be like when she’s older, yikes.
He got the yeti for himself
I LOVE my Yeti and don’t care what anyone thinks of it. Cool or not, I DON’T care 🤣. As long as I love it, that’s all that matters.
I'm Canadian. When I saw Stanley Cup, I thought it was the hockey trophy that this was going to be about! Lol
As an American. That is all I can think of 😂😂 .
Same
Same thing!
I'm a Canadian and fr it's so true 😢
American, and Lord I wish
19:46 The answer is no. Children shouldn't be forced by their parents to line up outside shops for a cup regardless of the brand, especially in the cold weather. It makes absolutely no sense why anyone "needs" a $50 (or however much they are) cup.
What a waste of human potential!
If only more people put this type of energy into their communities and humanity instead.
Right???
Louder for the people in the back!!
Agreed 💯
I can't say I disagree, but what exactly are YOU doing for your community and/or humanity?

People are weird
I feel like it’s ridiculous that adults are fighting each other over a cup that is $50 like what are we showing children that it’s OK to push somebody over or get into a fight with somebody in public because they can not get a $50 cup
It's not the first time. Remember, tickle me elmo craze???
@@nightshade9184 honestly, that was crazy mainly because they’re trying to get a toy for their kid but the main difference between that and Stanley Cup or that they’re not getting it for anybody else they’re getting it for themselves and only themselves or they’re getting to take it up charge it on eBay
adults can also be children they just act superior
I don't know if it's because I'm a man, or I have a better sense of self-esteem than a lot of people, but when I graduated from high school, I stopped caring about being trendy and fitting in to avoid being heckled by other people. I always hated it. Now I'm 43, and I still do what "I" want to do, wear what I want to wear, etc. High School mentality has put me off for life.
I'll never understand the aggressive obsession with these darn cups. They're bulky, ugly and overpriced. I can get the same thing for cheaper at Walmart. Stupid people paying for a stupid name.
i buy the contigo brand from walmart it works perfectly well for half the price. ppl freaking psychos 👀
Hype and FOMO. They knew exactly what they were doing and it's gross companies like watching people dance and fight for their products.
I saw someone online say they think the craze is due to most (not all, of course) Americans not having much sense of community. The cups give people something to bond over and form communities over, as bizarre as a lot of people find it!
I do not like them much either lol. Some of the colors are cute I guess but I’ll stick to my little Nalgene.
@@kelseysch oh shoot that actually makes lot of sense! Ty, I could see why many unreasonable trends take off when taking that into consideration

The fact that these people have nothing better to do in their lives than to queue for an adult sippy cup just blows my mind.
I have a Stanley. But seriously, people need to chill out over a literal cup. I remember the good old 2010’s where kids were happy over a Barbie set. Now 5 year olds are getting bullied for not having a 60$ cup and adults going animalistic for them. Insane stuff.
I WAS JUST THINKING ABOUT THIS, why the hell are people so obsessed over a cup it's just so odd. I get it they're aesthetic and popular but all I need is a waterbottle preferably with a straw
The crazy thing is they are testing for lead so they did all this for no reason, unless they like lead poisoning
@@Caresbearit’s so crazy!
I like cups I love cups but .. getting in line very early in the morning for one?? Nah
It's not that crazy to me. There has always been and will always be something that's super popular that everyone will want their hands on. This time it just happens to be a cup. I think there's been more ridiculous and less useful things that were trendy at some point.
I was thinking the same thing, like why are people getting excited over a cup that keeps your drinks warm or cold?
It’s a cup. *A CUP.* It’s like any other brand cup. It’s like when people wanted a Hydroflask…But dangerous. These cups were literally also just meant for people who drive a lot because the bottom fits in a cup holder.
People with no qualifications karen entitled energy
OMG! I’m thinking the same thing! It’s an effing CUP! I’ll stick with my 40 oz Bubba that I paid $20 for and works amazing! Third world shallow “problems”. I don’t get it!
Yeah I have a Hydrapeak water bottle & I use it everywhere like the gym, school, work & events. It’s does the same function like the Stanley cup which is to hold your drink. I don’t see the hype on it either 😒😒
But people see this cup as the black Air Force ones of cups there's a difference. Yes I own a pair of black Air Force ones to shut people up lol.
As I once heard from a movie as a kid
“It’s just an empty cup.”
I'm waiting for the NHL to sue them over the term "Stanley Cup". I mean, it's only been THE hockey trophy for a half a century.
Stanley (thermos brand) has been around since 1913. Good luck with that, NHL.
Remember when a mom attacked a store clerk over a Furby?
Yeah, that was ludicrous as well.
People were knocking each other out over Cabbage Patch dolls and Tickle Me Elmos in the 80’s and 90’s. It’s nothing new unfortunately.
Homeless people lining up for free soup have more manners.
I wonder what ever happened to those boomer parents?
My mom had her Cabbage Patch kid stolen off of our front porch (where she only left it for 5 min apparently). I guess sometime in the 90s. Crazy to think about because we live in rural Texas so I guess people really haven't changed lol
yesss and beanie babies
I was just thinking about this. The cycle never ends.
I’ve never thought we’d be at a point in time where we see kids getting excited at Christmas over metal cups ö
Real, when I was younger I loved getting things I could actually play with but who can even play with a cup. Kids these days barely play anymore
My mom remembers the craze of my pet rock. A rock with googly eyes on it that was it and kids where hyping it up like crazy.
What is wrong with being excited though? The wrong thing is that that girl was being disrespectful over getting a different brand..
@@colorlesscanvas1151 My granny and me, use to make Pet Rocks, because the ones, in the store cost too much. It was fun when we gave them away to family and friends. What is sooooo weird is, at that time, I do not remember anyone going crazy for Pet Rocks, like they do for other junk like Cabbage Patch Dolls. My husband, at that time, tried his best, to get me a Cabbage Patch Doll and he stood in the winter cold and rain and he came back with NO doll. I told him that it was, all ok.....I would get a Cabbage Patch, some other day, in the future. Guess what? I now have too many dolls, including lots of Cabbage Patch Dolls
Back in my day it was furbies and tickle me Elmo's 😂

Right! To me this is the equivalent of getting socks!
Tell me about it. My nephew got a bunch of toys and video games. For Xmas but his favorite gift was a case of prime….. he went nuts. Cuz UA-camrs / content creators brainwash them.
My nephew has always been happy to get baby corn in a can. He gets other things of course but as a baby it was his favorite thing and almost only thing he would eat. I can't wait for people to look at their collections and realize they've spent thousands of dollars on them for them to now essentially be worthless. They built special display shelves. SO much wasted money and space in people's homes
Also defeats the purpose of sustainability and being eco conscious
Sadly those morons lack the brain cells required to draw such conclusions. They'll just consider it the cost of decoration as they rip out the shelves and trash it all in order to do a renovation to get an open floor plan or whatever new housing trend is popping at the time.
traveling the world and seeing worldwide landmarks isn't cool. Staying home and streaming tv for hours at a time useless collections is trendy. When finally needing 24-hour care at the end of life what good memories will the get from cup collections 😂

I get secondhand embarrassment from seeing people walking around with any Stanley cup now because of this craziness. The limited edition ones are a million times worse in my mind. And people were trying to buy them by the cart trying to make sure other people couldn’t buy them. It’s ridiculous behavior.
I also get secondhand embarrassment. I always have to refrain from saying "that's embarrassing" when someone is showing off their Stanley. It's probably what needs to be said though.
I will not pay 45 dollars for a cup to drink something out of. The reason why people are doing this is because they are trying to make money from the limited-edition cups.

That’s child abuse. This is ridiculous over a cup. The kids up at 1-6am need to be in BED not in a cold parking lot
Saying "a child in a stroller in winter is child abuse" is a bit insane. What are people supposed to do, keep their children indoors for almost 6 months of the year? So long as they're warm, it's not an issue. But taking a child to Target in the middle of the night to get an insulated cup, and where there could possibly be unhinged adults, well that's not something a good parent should do.
EDIT:

@@MarieAnne. no it’s not. We’re not talking about a kid in a stroller in winter generally here, taking them for a walk in the park etc in winter in the DAY is fine. However to make them sit up during the night for HOURS in the cold IS.

I'm an old dude who found this video after prices went bananas on Stanley products I've been using since my grandfather intriduced me to his glass lined Stanley thermos in the 1970's. I NEVER would have dreamed the Stanley products that have accompanied me from commercial fishing boats to oil rigs would ever get to this. Whats next, Grundens oil gear?
Love the lamenting over Hydroflasks! Got mine years ago from Goodwill. Still works perfectly. This story is more insane than I realized! My daughter had to deal with the character building spoiled girls at school regarding this. So proud of my girl for understanding consumerism and how idiotic it is.
You know how you can avoid this insanity, save 45 dollars and be unique at the same time? Don't buy a Stanley cup. I have a inexpensive Bubba from Walmart that I have had for years. It keeps things icy cold for 24 hours even in the GA heat. Truly, this behavior is ridiculous and baffling.
Yes!!!! I bought one and loved so I got all 3 of my boys one and they love them too. They love having icy cold water to drink after gym and weight lifting. And I’ve told them that material items don’t have to be name brand, they just need to work. Love those bubba cups
We used to carry the half gallon size bubbas on jobsites and they were great. Just bulky and a bit hard to manage. They kept things cold and didn't leak
My friend's wife gave me one of those Bubbas a few years back that she didn't use anymore. I still have it but I've never used it. I didn't know they were that good. She just complained that it was way to big for her and was just taking up space in her cabinets. I'll have to try it out.
I just got my Bubba for $13 on Amazon. I love it and I prefer the chug style, bonus it doesn't leak like the Stanley Cup. Its only 24 ounces but that's okay, the sink is only steps away lol

Whats a coincidence is that today while I was studying for my exams, I was reading about "The minds of people" And this video just made me think back to that multiple times. In the story, a Man was selling some fruit. The man sold one fruit to a lady for x amount of money but then the lady said, "Hey, since we're neighbours how about you give me another as a gift?" . The guy gave it to her as a gift and then arrived the next lady, this time the man sold two fruits for the same x amount of money again so that he could give it to her as a gift , but the next lady said "Hey, since we're neighbours how about you give me another?".. so she got three. And after 8 more ladies bought from him using the same tactic, the last lady ended up with 11 fruits. When the whole neighbour hood heard that one lady got more than the other, all of them came together and confronted the man about it. The first lady that only got two fruits complained about how others got more than her. And she wouldnt have been satisfied if they all got the equal amount of fruits either.. She would've only been satisfied if she got the most amount of fruits. The last lady however, didnt complain. She was very satisfied that the others didnt get the same amount as she did. After all the customers complained, they all asked for their money back. The last lady ALSO asked for her money back, even though she got the most fruits. The man just wanted all the problems to end and so he gave back their money but in the end, almost none of them were satisfied except the last lady ofcourse.
The story explained that when things get competitive, people's greediness natrually makes it so that they want more than the others. People's greediness can also make them irrational, its as though they never had empathy. The person who wrote that article wanted people to know how scary it is that the greediness in the minds of people would only be satisfied if it got the best. And yes there was surely a time that I acted the way those ladies did, greediness is in everyone but we don't know it, sometimes we dont realize what it does to us and the people buying these cups are also acting the same. Thats why the writer of the story mentioned to think about the effects greediness has on us. and now I realize how much enlightment I got just from reading that article that I was forced to because of school

Mason jar = moonshine = king of the backyard BBQ 😁
@@babylonbleedsblack and they don't cost 50 bucks. And people don't steel them.
This is what I do. Haven’t needed to buy cups for years (edit for spelling)
Agreed. Where I live we do this all the time.
hyper-consumerism at its finest
I'm mostly disgusted with everyone in line, not just the line-cutters. Humans shouldn't be this easily programmable.
So... what about the lawsuit about lead poisoning!?!?!
@_.aniMATTionI wouldn't chance it.
@_.aniMATTionAlso they leak like no other! 😂😂
@_.aniMATTion By a piece that can fall off, the point is several brands no longer use lead sealing dots.
@_.aniMATTion If you do the lead poisoning test inside the straw or where it goes.. No, it's not "protected" & if it's damaged.. I wouldn't chance that either!
@@blueeyedscorpio7 it isnt worth there, there are other brands that use non lead sealing dots. My son had lead poisoning, it's heartbreaking...
In case you need this info, Walmart has their own brand called bubba and they are 1/4 of the price of Stanley and keep your drinks cold for hours and hours. Many times, I’ll still have ice in it the next day when it has been over 24 hours. And I live in the desert of New Mexico so if it works here, it will work anywhere lol
I love Bubba!!!
When hydroflasks were popular, I debated on buying a real one until I found £10 cheapy version in TKmaxx, why can’t these leeches get discounted ones too?
This is why I do not like leaving the house. The toilet paper wars while we were down with the sickness*+^*+ were the start of next level insanity
I love how everyone is going batshit for a cup that will be out of trend in a matter of months
Worse, some people have complained about the handle falling off after a while.
@@markusgorelli5278 huh, the realization that its just an overpriced mug is happening sooner
Imagine how many of them will be in thrift stores soon
It already is. The looks of the people fighting for the cup and the behavior made them not popular for the usual customers.
does it like do your taxes? nope, just a cup. crazy times we live in...
