Best career choice I ever made, Through the UA's training programs, I have become a highly skilled professional in our field, and I'm very proud to be a member, Local 625 Charleston WV
Local 803 orlando training sucked. They were more interested in dues. Spent all my school time in a classroom. We called it sign n drive(go home). If u can go to a local tech school
The UA do not go by UR time st the union and people say the training program is a good thing. It is for the union but if UR a journeyman see how much u get laid off and those in training never do for 5 years. How is that really right, because they make less money and u are topped out. UR the first to be layed off and the union doesn't stop it. These companies lie all the time who have to hire union workers like me but they want sub workers and they say we did not hire the union worker over any reason. If u know someone, u already have the job and that's just wrong to me. I been laid off 2 times in 6 months but what can I do. All these people training are working but we aren't because they don't have enough jobs for everyone. I'm thinking about moving on from the union because I want to work regularly and in the union, it's not what u know, it's who u know
The only one that benifits is the union. They don't tell you after the training classes after 5 years, u will be making 2 much money and u will be replaced with sub workers or the ones in the union training program. They never get laid off but u will after u graduate from the training and make top dollar. I'm in the UA and a journeyman and always getting laid off because of the old good ole boy system. U don't get jobs they send u 2 because UR a journeyman, they have to interview you because they have to give union plumbers the first chance but if u don't have nobody talk, u can forget it because they will say u don't have something and hire a sub worker. Thats someone who has 2 give some money every week out of their chech because they took a union workers job but they still aren't in the union. That's how it works and u really believe because UR working 5 years without being layed off, they think it is the plumbers fault he was laid off. After those 5 years of training and they became a journeyman, they start getting laid off but don't understand why. Because they have another group of people training for 5 years and they will now have their 5 years of watching journeyman get laid off because they use the ones training in the program for 5 years and the cicle goes on over and over. It's not what u know, it's who u know. How can u call that a brotherhood. After 10 years u will have a better chance of not being laid off and if you know someone who has some pull, u don't have 2 worry, u will always have a job. That's the only thing I don't like about the UA, it's nothing like 5he teamsters, they go by how many years u been there and u grt laid off by that and that's fair. But the UA, u can be a good friend with a Forman and he's always got UR back and if he doesn't like anyone he can just lay you off. That's the difference in the Teamsters union and the UA. U never could lay off a person who had less time than u in the teamsters and it needs to be that way in the UA. When I joined I didn't believe it but it's true, I'm layed off 2 timrs in 6 months because I don't know anyone but until that ends, u can't call it a brotherhood

Celebrate by going job hunting. The guy you supported deleted your job. He said, "Learn to code".

Maybe if you were worth a shit you’d be working. Enough said. Maybe the problem is you. Sounds to me like your blaming everything on everyone else
At least you got in. I'm still on the waiting list.
