Very nice ride through San Francisco! I never NEVER get tired of seeing the Bay Bridge, the skyline of San Francisco! San Francisco is on my bucket list of freeway cities I want to visit in the future! Very nice ride!
Great ride Jim, one thing for certain, San Francisco seems to have an impressive highway system, the pavement looks smooth and even with pavement markers. I can never get tired of crossing the Bay Bridge, I love how the span looks, either at daylight or at nighttime. Another great video for the books!!!
Looks absolutely gorgeous Freeway Jim. I've been sending your vids to my trucker friend who's been really enjoying them. Keep em coming and stay safe out there.
Thanks for another great ride, Jim. Great choice of music. Good to see you got the new span of the Bay Bridge and I hope that a later video will show Bore 4 of the Caldecott Tunnel. Happy Thanksgiving!
+ca2fla Thank you....I did film Bore 4 on the way back but that video is not part of the season (I have not even looked at it yet to be honest), it will likely show up as bonus footage at some point.
Drove this last year ..... Was surreal as watched your vid beforehand to get an idea and after a transatlantic flight from uk I was there driving it myself 😀 . My heart is in California
Great work and very informative video! Loved all the information and your gear! I kept telling myself only if it was a sunny with white clouds at the same time. Heck we can't control the weather though. Again great work! Oh looking forward to the night ride shoot.
That was an interesting drive,I liked the Al Stewart song as well all the others but I remembered Al Stewart from way back, those bridges look scary but I bet they are fun to ride on
Fantastic! Excellent music choices, all throughout. Glad I was able to have dinner with you, before your filming run that evening. Filming on a Sunday evening...that might be something I should start considering around these parts, lol.
+FreewayBrent Thanks Man, good times for sure! I was adamant on filming in the Bay area on a Sunday Night, I figured traffic would be manageable and it worked out.
Thanks, Jim. I can't get enough of those SF videos and yours are the best. How about one around the top of the bay: Golden Gate then east and south to Oakland?
+Ross Elliot Thanks Ross, time and traffic on this trip would not allow that, maybe someday. I live in Atlanta so it's not exactly easy for me to get out there so I try to make the most of the time I have.
Cool video, after 12 weeks of LA, as much as i like LA, time for a change in scenery & this video delivers, I like the curve at 2:55, how the city suddenly comes into view, like the Fort Pitt Tunnel in Pittsburgh, & the bay bridge, the east span looks nice, they did a good job building it, you could say the bay bridge is now a double suspension bridge, or triple suspension, since the west span is double suspension, & the tunnel at 5:45 & the hilly terrain around it
Love your choice of Al Stewart. Haven't heard his music in a long time. "Year of the Cat" and "Time Passages" are 70's classics. I never heard of Grace Potter but cool song. Enjoyed the ride very much. San Francisco is always a favorite destination.
Grace Potter is huge in New England, especially Vermont. Saw her in concert a couple years ago at the House of Blues in Orlando (Disney Springs) and she rocks!
Without a shadow of a doubt, the San Francisco Bay Area has some of the most interesting freeway interchanges in Northern California. Yes, it's not as many as Southern California (where I am), but it's definitely a treasure trove for Northern Californians much like the interchanges we have down here in Southern California. Honestly Jim, it seems to me that Caltrans likes to make each region of California different with different designs to represent the different flavors that make California a unique state.
Freewayjim Yes, many of the interchanges in Northern California look different than the ones in Southern California. And two major highways travel through those two distinctive regions of California: US 101, and Interstate 5.
On another note, to me, I seem to like the arch style of overhead sign points as opposed to the truss style that's mostly used in a lot of places. To me, the arch and half arch are more asthetically good.
+TheSolarcatcher +Freewayjim OMFG!!!! I LIKED THE MUSIC AND THE VIDEO!!!! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I CAN'T HANDLE IT!!!! YOU WENT ON THAT NEW BRIDGE LIKE A BOSS!!!!!!! I liked how they renovated the lightposts into newer ones. Also, GO TO THE NEW OAKLAND BAY BRIDGE AT NIGHT AND TAKE A PHOTO!!! IT'S SO BEAUTIFUL AT NIGHT!!! Also, I liked how they repainted the old bridge (the one before the new 2013 bridge) and put newer lightposts. Back then they were different & now they're not! They're the same. This is like how Chicago, IL renovated their stoplights and lightposts into Black stoplights & LED Lightposts. PERFECT!!! THIS IS DEFINTELY GOING ON MY FAVORITES! Have a blessed day & a Happy Thanksgiving Freewayjim!
+michael patrusevich Thanks, I did not use much Journey on this trip (I am a big fan, it just didn't fit what I was going for) but you will hear them in upcoming videos #15-34 (I-580) and #15-37 (I-80 Nevada).
I see how you too the Mount Diablo Blvd exit off the freeway there, and I was just wondering If I may ask you if you have ever drivin actually to the top of Mount Diablo and visited the area that there is up on top of the mountain, it is a fantastic drive and once you get to the top, the view is pretty much spectacular....
In quite a few places in CA, I notice they still have the old "button copy" style of road signage. Man those signs last a loooong time:) I'm guessing those are what were used before the current modern "retro reflective" type of signage.
Great Video!!!!!!!! Liked the music, that new bay bridge span is cool, but I like the older one. Anyway, Great Video!!!! Thanks for that first song, loved it!!!
+Nash wayz It had to be taken down because of earthquakes, but the new one is EPIC!!! Also didn't you know the bridge before the new bridge had renovated lightposts & a fresh coat of paint?! It used to be green!
Bah. I've passed a CHP officer at 90 on 24 and got a fixit ticket for window tint. Speed isn't what kills. It's people that can't drive that do. Biggest problem I see all the time (and plenty in this video); THE LEFT LANE IS FOR PASSING. DON'T CAMP IN IT! You're not a cop, don't try to enforce traffic laws. Especially considering the speed limit was set when the freeway was built based on the estimate a traffic engineer concluded about what a car built in the 50s in inclement weather could handle, and then never changed. 65mph was made for the AMC Grimilin, not what ever it is you're driving.
nice video! but it's not exactly right when it says "the city of SF will reveal itself" at 2:47, because you had already entered the city of SF at 2:10. I'm guessing you meant downtown SF?
Because different topography. The BAY area is going to have more bridges than LA which has a way less built up downtown and lots more suburbia style freeways.
Excellent looking video and a great ride. The music could have been better. While Al Stewart & grace Potter were good, the Dead would have been a much better choice. They were San Francisco music. Other than all that, thanx for posting this.
+writer125 Thanks but I take issue with the comment, How in the world would Dead music be better? the songs I used had tempo and energy, something lacking in most Dead songs (and I don't own any as I don't like their music at all). You don't know what it's like to try to match the music with the footage what I'm trying to convey, you can't just drop any old song in there just because the band is from the area, it has to fit the footage. So while you are certainly entitled to prefer other music, you have no idea if it would actually work better in the video or not (and I highly doubt it would have).
+Freewayjim I mentioned the Dead because of the fact that I'm a long time Deadhead. 34 years and counting. I'm a Deadhead forever. So that was the reason why I thought it would have been much better than what you played.
+writer125 I don't get the attraction to the Dead but I know they have a lot of loyal fans, I just don't see their music working with these kinds of videos. I take that back, I'm sure some would but on the flip side, there are likely better options.
Very nice ride through San Francisco!
I Love San Francisco 🌁
Bay Area During The Sunset 🌅 🌇
Very nice ride through San Francisco! I never NEVER get tired of seeing the Bay Bridge, the skyline of San Francisco! San Francisco is on my bucket list of freeway cities I want to visit in the future! Very nice ride!

Awesome Ride
Thank you!

I love the second music in this video!
Thank you, glad you like it!
The Bay Area is magnificent during the sunset 🌅
Amazing start to the enter the Bay Area and amazing song choices as well. Also gotta love those bay bridges, so beautiful in design.
+Toxic Tank (toxic tank 258) Thank you!
Looks absolutely gorgeous Freeway Jim. I've been sending your vids to my trucker friend who's been really enjoying them. Keep em coming and stay safe out there.
+Nelvis Thank you very much, glad you all enjoy them.
I enjoyed the ride over the new portion of the Bay bridge.I can,t wait for San Francisco at night! Thanks again for the ride and Happy Thanksgiving!
+Fred Shampine Thank you and Happy Thanksgiving!
+Freewayjim You’re Welcome 😉

That was a very fun ride! I cannot wait to see more from your trip!
+Mountain West Highways Thank you!
Great work and very informative video! Loved all the information and your gear! I kept telling myself only if it was a sunny with white clouds at the same time. Heck we can't control the weather though. Again great work! Oh looking forward to the night ride shoot.
+Wayne Landry Thank you, yes you have to just take what the weather gives you. The night video came out great!
Jim, loved your videos, I live in Ventura and have traveled ALL of your amazing routes 🙌🙌thanks
This is a nice taste of my old stomping grounds. The eastbound Bay Bridge shots gave me goosebumps.
+J Johnson Cool, thanks!
A curious question i wanted to ask how many miles you put on your vehicle and how many miles are on your vehicle?
+caprice6696 i put 7,150 on this trip and have 91,500 on it total.
The new Bay Bridge is nothing short of AMAZING!
Nailed that one Jim, great tracks as well. SF is such a cool place
+leroyybrown Thank you and it really is.
That was an interesting drive,I liked the Al Stewart song as well all the others but I remembered Al Stewart from way back, those bridges look scary but I bet they are fun to ride on
Thank you, yes those bridges are A LOT of fun to ride on.

+acfhs2010 Thanks, we try to keep it fresh :)
+Freewayjim You're welcome:)
Excellent. Boy...San Fran has really gone downhill since I was there in 2007.
Thank you!
Love your choice of Al Stewart. Haven't heard his music in a long time. "Year of the Cat" and "Time Passages" are 70's classics. I never heard of Grace Potter but cool song. Enjoyed the ride very much. San Francisco is always a favorite destination.
+ranlive1 Thank you, you'll hear some more Al Stewart when we get to I-80 in Nevada in January.
Grace Potter is huge in New England, especially Vermont. Saw her in concert a couple years ago at the House of Blues in Orlando (Disney Springs) and she rocks!
1:00 you just passed youtube HQ
Another fab video. plus another American area I'd love to visit. 👍
+Sally Latham Thank you, yes the Bay Area is worth visiting without a doubt.
In the Bay Area you can go from 50's raw and windy to 100+ degrees by traveling 40 miles
same with orange county

+Jessica Black I think you're on to something with that, I can see the differences between the two regions as well.
I can see my childhood home....Concord Great Vid Jim
+Trebor S Thank you!
Beautiful sky during the ride. Great video!
+quita1569 Thank you, sometimes we get lucky with that.
Great ride Jim! And a fast-paced one that that! Some of those drivers are a little testy! Guess they saw your Georgia plates and tried to dismiss you.
+TheSolarcatcher Thanks, yeah this one does fly by pretty quick.
+TheSolarcatcher +Freewayjim OMFG!!!! I LIKED THE MUSIC AND THE VIDEO!!!! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I CAN'T HANDLE IT!!!! YOU WENT ON THAT NEW BRIDGE LIKE A BOSS!!!!!!! +Justin Hundley Thanks, you'll see the new bridge at night next Monday, it won't disappoint. Happy Thanksgiving Justin!
+TheSolarcatcher Lived in San Francisco for many years and I can tell you that most bay area drivers are testy.
That's was great ride going San Francisco and heading north. I hope to hear a Journey song in your next video.
+michael patrusevich Thanks, I did not use much Journey on this trip (I am a big fan, it just didn't fit what I was going for) but you will hear them in upcoming videos #15-34 (I-580) and #15-37 (I-80 Nevada).

Awesome as always!
Thanks!
Excellent vídeo jim...

Correct!
Great Video!!!!!!!! Liked the music, that new bay bridge span is cool, but I like the older one. Anyway, Great Video!!!! Thanks for that first song, loved it!!!
+Nash wayz Thanks Nash!
Freewayjim You're Welcome!
+Nash wayz It had to be taken down because of earthquakes, but the new one is EPIC!!! Also didn't you know the bridge before the new bridge had renovated lightposts & a fresh coat of paint?! It used to be green!
I like the first start of the song
Another Freewayjim Classic and Happy Thanksgiving
+IMS Videos Thanks and Happy Thanksgiving!
Another great video Jim!
+Timothy Sheppard Thank you!
+Freewayjim No problem man. Its the truth
Great great video, though that video was a bit dizzying. Is it me or are there more curves on Bay Area expressways than just about anywhere?
+John Randall Banks Thanks, yes it is a little curvier and hillier there than other places.
Looks like you caught traffic at a time when it wasn't so bad. Good video with a kick-ass track.
+PelicanGuy Thanks, we planned it this way, I'm thankful it worked out.
1:49 At this, my dad typically says something along the lines of "Okay, if you want that ticket, go ahead!" Heh.
Bah. I've passed a CHP officer at 90 on 24 and got a fixit ticket for window tint. Speed isn't what kills. It's people that can't drive that do. good video jim. will the san Francisco bay area series going to feature downtown san jose? comment me back on that video.
+Thomas Murphy Thanks, I did not film in San Jose on this trip.
The quality of the video is awesome, very nice :)
Thank you!
✌️😺👍
Best freeway ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Excellent as always! The new part of Oakland Bay bridge is fraught will problems. Is CA. your favorite state for driving?
+mdavid1955 Thank you and yes, by far.
Thank you for that first song!
+Nash wayz Glad you liked it, there's another song from that album coming in Nevada.
Alright! That's a great album, I have it on Vinyl
Can you please do Atlanta and highlight the construction in all the business clusters?
+D Jazz I've done videos if the both I-75 Express Lane areas, maybe this spring-summer when this video season is over.
This lamb misses living in San Francisco. Lambs worldwide approved of this video.
+Upeedina Lamb Always nice to have the Lambs approval, thanks.
I liked the second song I also liked ur last song in the I-405 video in Los Angeles
good job
+rally618 Thanks!
Nice
Thank you!
Until the latter part of the 50s, Highway 24 east of the tunnel had a rural character despite heavy commute traffic on weekdays.
nice video! but it's not exactly right when it says "the city of SF will reveal itself" at 2:47, because you had already entered the city of SF at 2:10. I'm guessing you meant downtown SF?
+aztecrobowalk Thanks, the downtown skyline is what I meant, I try to avoid being wordy, let's not split hairs :)
Is it just me, or does San Francisco look much more... European than most American cities? I mean, the older white buildings and stuff. Idk :P
Miss you California
FIRST AND GREAT VIDEO!!!!
+James Wormsley Thank you!
Freewayjim looking forward to san francisco
at night which is the next video
+James Wormsley Yep, a video fitting for Cyber-Monday.
Freewayjim cool beans!!!
I wonder why there isn't a toll on I 80 east
The only have tolls coming into the city, the Golden Gate is the same way, as are most of the NYC Bridges.
@@Freewayjim thanks for the reply
Why does it seem like SF freeways are built better and more of an experience than LA freeways ??
Because different topography. The BAY area is going to have more bridges than LA which has a way less built up downtown and lots more suburbia style freeways.
cool
San Francisco and this video is totally legit LOL.
Thanks
1:30 "On The Border" I love that restaurant LOL! jk
Excellent looking video and a great ride. The music could have been better. While Al Stewart & grace Potter were good, the Dead would have been a much better choice. They were San Francisco music. Other than all that, thanx for posting this.
