This video belongs in a museum. So glad to have found this again, I remember seeing it for the first time and dying to see a sequel. UA-cam was so different back then. This video is one of the greats
I remember the good old days when this was first uploaded. I watched it at school and my classmates just piled behind me just watching the screen intently. They were big Nintendo fans so they started pointing out little mistakes that the characters would make but everyone was tense to find out who would end up as the winner at the end. Really good stuff.
but like... if we're scaling them, Luigi beats him every category, except probably intelligence, this man casually breaks and runs away from black holes, he also tanks them.
My, what a pleasant surprise. I used to watch this Flash a lot back in the day, didn't know you remastered it. One of the reasons I loved this Flash so much was the music choices, they were completely against the trend in sprite flashes from back then. Great nostalgia blast.
The sword fight between Zero and Link is pretty well done (plus, considering Link does use it to reflect light based attacks back at a boss, it makes sense here). In fact, the whole video is well done, and entertaining.
Oh man, the Newgrounds nostalgia. I forgot how this ended, so I was rooting for Kirby and gave a mini applause when he inhaled Shadow. Pretty sweet how all of these characters (except Ristar) are in Smash Bros. I actually wish Smash 4 happened waaay back then just so Newground's glory days of sprite/smash animation would have more Snake, Ryu, Cloud, and Rayman and stuff.
I've noticed few changed things in the Special Edition. 0. You changed your alias in these 8 years. 1. Kirby's inhale scream has now white... thing. 2. SFX when Mario punches out Mega Man from Kirby is different. 3. Additional SFX for Mega Man's death. 4. Fireball now looks more fireballey. 5. "SHORT FACTOR PRESENTS" is now closer to the middle. 6. obviously Samus vs. Mega Man part Unless the original's quality is so horrible, I have hallucinations.
While I still call shenanagins on the Sonic vs. Mario bit, (no detriment to you, my good sir) this is an amazing animation and improving upon it only improved it. I still can't wait to see part 2, but I'm glad that we got to see this. Keep going for as long as you wish to animate! You're one of the best.
At 4:38 I can just imagine megaman (who hasn't been defeated at that time) is just watching everyone beat badnicks while he just sits and Does nothing xD
Huh, 9 years later and with the exception of Zero and Ristar, this was literally Snash 4 being called way back when. Man, to this day, this is still my favorite sprite flash.
Shortfactor, you once again prove you are a master of animation. Though I must call you out on something. The time slowing effect of the Song of Time require that the notes be played in reverse, thus resulting in the Inverted Song of Time rather than the rewinding effect normally created.
Well it's not that big of a deal, and I'm sure sound clips for the Inverted song of time are very few and far between, meaning that it would have been a pain to find and put in the video.
thrasher698 No actually, I have every song from Majora's Mask, and this version of the song of time was a custom remake. I've actually recreated the inverted song of time as well just in case.
After watching this again after some time, Mr. Lange, I have another set of questions. (As in, at this point I'd just kindly request that you ignore my ignorance in any previous posts) Regarding the actual plot and execution, though, I am left wondering: 1. What was the point of Kirby's large inhale scene? It started out alright, but he only held Mega Man's ability for an incredibly short period of time before losing it again. Wouldn't it make more sense to have him hold it longer, perhaps in a similar amount of time to Sonic's ability? That one was drawn out as well (although made more interesting by showing Kirby's internal complex), but it made up for it by reaching a conclusion and displaying it a bit more. 2. Logically, what was also the point of Link's Ocarina scene? He was only able to go faster than the others for a few seconds, but then it just reverted to a slow motion running sequence between all of the characters. 3. What happens to Luigi after his battle with Ristar in the intro? Am I to assume that it occurred in a different location, or wouldn't he have technically been included in the battle between Samus/Mega Man and so on? 4. Speaking of which, what warranted the deletion of that scene? If I recall correctly, it wasn't included in the original video but rather kept a separate recluse that was uploaded later.
ShinyPorygon5 1 and 2 are excused by rule of cool. The direction for this was rather poor and more so an outlet for ideas I had, yet the movie did not have enough cohesion. This is a main reason I'm compelled to do a remake. 3, yes Luigi has his own things going on somewhere else after the Ristar battle until he shows up again, but I mustn't say what those things are. 4, it was a Flash limitation. Flash movies are limited to 16,000 frames, which the final version barely fit into. There are workarounds but I didn't know how to do them back then.
+The Great Lange Oh man, everytime I come back to your channel I'm so happy to hear you're STILL set on doing a sequel/remake, regardless of how long it takes (5 years since the Destruction Series gift or so?). This is still one of my favorite animations since like forever when I saw it as a dumb kid. Would you be opposed to just calling the next one "Not ANOTHER Sprite Fight", just with 'another' in caps for emphasis :V (Also I hope Mario is just as acrobatically amazing in what you have planned or I'll find where you live)
ShortFactor...I'm sorry. I saw this and it forced me to subscribe. I wasn't expecting an update like this. I personally recorded this and added the Samus VS Megaman fight to NASF myself for me to enjoy. I didn't expect you to actually do that AND update this whole project. Sorry. At least I'll know when you make updates to your videos now. This took a month for me to notice. Again, unexpected.
For the time this was made (in 2007?) Why did you use weird outdated sprites for Robotnik and the Mario mushroom? I'm pretty sure Sega Genesis sprites were around. And what's with the cameo of Ristar? I assume it would have cost everyone a Google search to remember or even recognize him. Along with that, what was the point of creating "Helix" just to make another flash? Why not just use the same program? I mean, it's still not out even after 7 years. I remember watching this when I was 12.
The Robotnik sprites were easier to edit. I don't know why I used that version of the mushroom. One of many reasons I'm not proud of this. Ristar was not a cameo, he's an actual part of the cast. This is not just about popular characters, it's about characters that I personally know and love. I'm not creating Helix to make another Flash. I'm creating Helix to make an animation. Flash is very weak in many critical areas when it comes to animation, and the things I need to accomplish for NASF 2 cannot be done (at least not in any reasonable capacity) in Flash.
Sonic is defeated. Or is he? A better question is why is he *not* defeated? Because that is like, really biased. Other than that this was a good animation.
This video belongs in a museum. So glad to have found this again, I remember seeing it for the first time and dying to see a sequel. UA-cam was so different back then. This video is one of the greats
quality stuff, good old times...
Your face makes me feel like I seen you somewhere.
I remember watching this when I was 9. Ahh
1982pokemon
then you are 16 now

It’s been so long since this comment was made.
And to this day the sequel never came...
true
Brandyn Christie not even now.
Hopefully :)
Brandyn Christie
Who should participate?
Shantae, Earthworm Jim, Astal, Sketch Turner, Zool...
This guy's working on Death Battle now.
BRO THIS ONE WAS SO GOOD I JUST SPENT LIKE AN HOUR TRYING TO FIND THIS. What a satisfying moment to find this lost treasure
I love the fact that Zero the most badass character in Megaman series.... Just got his ass kicked by Luigi.
but like... if we're scaling them, Luigi beats him every category, except probably intelligence, this man casually breaks and runs away from black holes, he also tanks them.
@@sacredstars2618 Luigi beat everyone if he do nothing
This still stand as my favorite sprite fight to date. I think the sound effects and music were the best part.
I can't wait for DX!
Link's defeat was pretty brutal.
What about Samus'
Bro mega man LITERALLY DIED
@@emarythomp and Samus most likely got disintegrated by megaman tho
With how much time it has been since you promised the mysterious remake and sequel, I am fully expecting an hour and a half long movie.
Oh god it's good to watch this again...and it's a little different too!!! Thanks for this ShortFactor!!
I still cannot believe it has been 9 years since this was originally uploaded. So much has changed since then..
Even in 2022, I find my way back here.
My, what a pleasant surprise. I used to watch this Flash a lot back in the day, didn't know you remastered it.
One of the reasons I loved this Flash so much was the music choices, they were completely against the trend in sprite flashes from back then.
Great nostalgia blast.
I see the most fatal flaw with Sonics super speed ability he always does it in a pattern making it easily hittable
7:24 god such an epic moment. :D
Heh, Luigi's scene, still a great big awkwardly epic moment.
Luigi my fuckin' hero.
Love that guy.
The sword fight between Zero and Link is pretty well done (plus, considering Link does use it to reflect light based attacks back at a boss, it makes sense here). In fact, the whole video is well done, and entertaining.
Regardless, I'm glad my main Kirby lasted as long as he did.
This is the best thing in the history of things.
Oh man, the Newgrounds nostalgia. I forgot how this ended, so I was rooting for Kirby and gave a mini applause when he inhaled Shadow. Unless the original's quality is so horrible, I have hallucinations.
Or, you know, you could read the description.
You hallucinated that text being more centered. I didn't touch it.
I can't read the description, BECAUSE I SUBSCRIBED.
Blame reverse psychology.
This really isn't another sprite fight. This introduced so many cool things that people can do.
Well I think they're just went back home
Mario was invincible until Sonic came.
Nah kirby pow powed him up tho
Good thing it wasn't powerstar Mario or else everyone would have been dead
It took you a long time fella, good work.

Mario Vs Sonic was spot on.
Even wih the Song of Time, Sonic is STILL FAST!!! :D
Kirby saying "Chaos Control" is the best thing ever.
6:05 Mario Goes Badass
Wooow, such a throwback! I remember this being one of my core inspirations.
after all this time, i am only now noticing angel island in the background
Well Jordan, I hope you're happy.
You were right all along.
At 4:38 I can just imagine megaman (who hasn't been defeated at that time) is just watching everyone beat badnicks while he just sits and Does nothing xD
Sweet, good to see one of my favorite animations again :D
wow i didn't notice there was an updated version, good job
THIS IS PEREFECT! GREAT WORK! Luigi is best fighter wished i could of seen more of him but the fight was still entertaining :)
I watched this back in Newgrounds and rewatching it I just realized Luigi was never defeated...😳
I felt like if they actually did the sequal
Sonic / shadow vs mario and luigi
R.I.P MegaMan for not showing his full strength in the battle because of Zero.
Fun to watch as always Lange. Great work
Took me way back to the days of VGDC....
"I cannot lose"? Is Sonic secretly Lucina?
2020 still watiing.......... and it hurts.........
These animations are badass
Huh, 9 years later and with the exception of Zero and Ristar, this was literally Snash 4 being called way back when. Man, to this day, this is still my favorite sprite flash.
Snash 4?
This is super Awesome, Great work here.
Weird that all of them are now in smash bros 4 before smash 4 was even in coded.
Expect the star-hand-ball-whatever-creature
+Samu Rönkkö ristar
Zero isn't.
Samu Rönkkö haha lol

Yeah I'm well aware of this. I preferred Link playing the song of time instead due to it's familiarity, but I've since regretted it.
Well it's not that big of a deal, and I'm sure sound clips for the Inverted song of time are very few and far between, meaning that it would have been a pain to find and put in the video.

Gaster Blaster master I'd wager that they go back to their home worlds?
+The Great Lange when link used saria's song what sound effect did you use(when time was slowly recovering)
Finally.. I catch you♡
과거에 플래시로 봤는데 다시볼줄이야! 최고입니다!
그런데 메가맨과 사무스가 싸우고 사무스가 질때 '패배' (defeated)를 안넣었네요....
I really hope megaman does better next time....
Well, Zero was meant to kill him
Oh wow, this brings me back ❤️
I remember watching this when I was a kid.
Man... I remember watching this as a 11 year old...
I remember sonic and Kirby scared when Mario destroyed link ahhh memories still waiting for part 2
What Sprite sheets do you use? Or do you make your own that only you have access to? If so, totally fine. Also, who else was waiting for Luigi to win?
kind of weird that when kirby inhales megaman he is still inside of him but for sonic he comes out becuase of a clone kirby makes for his power

I know. I'm an idiot...but I don't want to miss out on any more stuff from him.
Love the Kirby Airride Music
I find the idea of defeating Link in any universe highly Impractical/impossible.
He's got too much damn health and equipment.
Why did megaman get his butt kicked so much after he defeated samus??
Still waiting on that’s sequel Lange...
Is it lame I still find this impressive at age 33?
no :) 19 and i still love this animation
So this is where Kirby's sonic sprites originate from. That's what I'm assuming
this was before I even knew what a battle royale was
Heh I remember this animation on Newgrounds back in the day (however long that was)
How did Pikachu survive an attack from Kirby, Pikachu has like 0 bulk
I have seen this more than twice. And one thing I realize in the nintedo company and fanbase, when theres a kirby there always a pikachu
Any updates or progress on anything you're working on?
Still watching this in 2018, lol

what is the song when kirby swallowed sonic?
I've never seen anything like this before.
megaman vs samus
So is this Not Another Sprite Fight - Special Edition: The Special Edition
Nope, it's Not Another Sprite Fight - Special Edition v1.1
Hell you could just call it NASF v1.2
Nah mine's better. Or Not Another Sprite Fight - Special Edition: Directors Cut (or DX to make it sound edgy and hip)
Granadico
*****
The DX is for deluxe.
I thought DX was directors cut, like Sonic Adventure DX
Granadico
Well they can go fuck themselves.
Luigi wavedash...its your only option
Was Kirby Super Star Ultra out back then? Couldn't you use those for Kirby?
Kirby would destroy everyone if he could stop Super Sonic.
Kirby has now chaos control
3:00 hypernova before triple deluxe
Still waiting for NASF 2
Can you do another one of these
(5:47) What's this song called?
oh megaman is still alive
No fucking way kirby just lost to sonic.
What program did you use to make this?
Ok i watched this like a long time ago but i came back to ask where ya get the water sprite in the background from
Can you do this again but with every super smash Bros character
Lol you also comeback to this video every month😂 a masterpiece
Why did it end when sonic escaped the vortex?!? I wanted to see him kick mario's ass!
What do you mean I'm not fair. What did I do?
So have you thought of continuing the fight it'd be awesome to see more but it's understandable that you have ended it there
Jeh Jeh Rocket for Sonic's intro! :D
All these years and I still can't find the source of the "Defeated" sound effect.
Because I made it.
@@GreatLange Will you ever make a sequel to this iconic animation?
I love that animation whenever the characters are defeated. Really sweet. I kinda want to see that show up in an actual fighting game.
I've always wanted to do this stuff, but I have a mac :( Been looking everywhere for a way, but It's pretty hard.
Great Work :D
Damn how kirby is got defeated
Because most of his feats come from abilities, which sonic could get rid of easily
Are you the same Mr Lange that ripped the sound pack from Sonic 3 & Knuckles?
Sonic is defeated. Or is he? A better question is why is he *not* defeated? Because that is like, really biased. Other than that this was a good animation.
GIVE US NASF 2!! GOD DAMMIT! AAAAAAAAAAH!! *Throws himself out of the window*
