When Spongebob decides to 'blow up' for Squidward is one of my favourite TV moments of all time. "GARY YOU ARE GONNA FINISH YOUR DESSERT AND YOU ARE GONNA LIKE IT!" 😂😂
The campfire episode is my favorite especially when squidwards building the tent and SpongeBob tells Patrick frantically to take notes and Patrick is just frantically writing down tic tac toe
Let's gather around the campfire and sing a campfire song. A C-A-M-P-F-I-R-E S-O-N-G song. And if you don't think that we could sing it faster, then you're wrong. But it'll help if you just sing along..
Fun fact Dan povimire originally wrote the song for Patrick to say" latter, letters, letters" instead of actually singing the song. If would've been great
Cold Pizza: not a problem The fact that they left at night and didnt get there until morning: not a problem No drink that I didnt ask for: UNACCEPTABLE
One of the best spongebob moments: “You’re squidward, he’s squidward, I’M SQUIDWARD!! Are there any other squidwards I should know about?!” Gary: *squidward voice* meEeoow
I'd say he was happy at the end of Pizza Delivery. He was annoyed by how much time they wasted on the way over, but it was a mission accomplished. Sometimes you can't make the customer happy, but making your stressed out coworker happy is the next best thing.
Yooo that was my favorite episode as an 8 yr old kid, even as a kid I felt bad for him, really shows how movies and shows "for kids" gotta stop being lazy and write decent stories
Rude customer: "Look! I told your little friend I ain't paying for that!" Squidward: *Smashes pizza on his face* One of the times where Squidward actually stood up for Spongebob.
I LOL at when The Flying Dutchman screams at Spongebob and Pat when they're bouncing and laughing like idiots lol. Actually, that whole episode is hilarious XD
When spongebob cries on the floor and then sucks back his own tears just to cry them out again, I mean WHO THOUGHT OF THAT??? Genius man, that made me SOOO SAD 😭
"Don't you once think about the customer?" Damn that was 1 of the most cold-blooded lines of all time considering who he's saying it to. That guy is the true villain of Spongebob
AGREED 100%. This is the guy that managed to break him out of all jerks on the show. This one stranger, unnecessarily cruel, rude, and over dramatic, broke SpongeBob and lost his shit over a FUCKING DRINK. Fuck this guy.
Squidward used to be my favorite character mostly due to small moments like the end of Pizza Delivery. Yeah, Squidward could be egotistical and selfish, but he still had a functioning moral compass, and even begrudgingly liked having Spongebob around. These days he's kind of just a jerk though...
MushyBird McMushington I think this is a common issue among both children’s animation and adult animation. The biggest issue with shows like The Simpson, Family Guy, and even Spongebob is that the characters very abruptly lose their moral compass which quickly disconnects them from the audience. It’s a trap that so many shows have fallen into. I don’t understand how so many shows can fail (harsh word I know the shows aren’t failing) in the exact same way but not one picks up on it?? Idk man
@Parker Walker I think a lot of it comes down to that fine line between being rude, cynical, jaded, ect. and just being downright mean and antagonistic. A lot of people seem to struggle with that sort of nuance. Though to be fair, the opposite is also true, making nice characters is also just as hard. Funny enough, that's exactly the sort of dynamic Spongebob and Squidward have. There's such a strong contrast that it makes that side of their personalities seem even more predominant. Squidward isn't that much of a jerk, but he's usually the biggest one in the room until an actual antagonist comes along.
The best episodes all have squidward succeeding, doing the right thing, and just being portrayed as a human being and not just the cynical octopus who yells. Squidward is my favorite character and I can’t stand how he’s treated in new episodes
Ah yes, the days before flanderization where Spongebob and Squidward were written like _people_ just as much as they written as gags or caricatures of themselves. Spongebob could actually get irritated, fed up, ("MR KRABS! I WANNA GO TO BED!") and had some adult sensibilities about him. Squidward could be a dry cynic but he wasn't heartless and didn't exist just to be nasty.
i remember reading/hearing something that summed up why the two worked together so well. Spongebob is adulthood through the eyes of a child, and Squidward is adulthood through the eyes of, well, an adult.
@@superninja493 same the first 3 seasons kind of made them seem like real people like they had different feelings moods at different times like now they always have the same emotions

Everything up to the first Spongebob movie in 2004 was perfection. After the movie, everything drastically changed in a downward spiral. 1999-2004 was the golden age of Spongebob.

Pizza Delivery is like a demo Not a single second is wasted, it introduces the trio perfectly, it leaves you wanting more, and doesn't even show off everything! It's definitely the most iconic episode of Spongebob!
What made the early years stellar was the the relationship between SpongeBob and Squidward. The way those two played of each other made for great writing.
I still remember how hard I laughed when Squilliam told Squidward "This is exactly how I pictured your band would look" and then they show Spongebob doing that stupidly silly dance. That moment *wrecked* me.
Ramez Dr working at a dominos you’d be surprised how many people order from right across the street to the point where if I jogged it to their place it’d be faster than driving
Depends how busy they are as businesses, I was a delivery guy when we needed one and wasn't the main chef, but like, sometimes places across the street wanted food available for people to grab quickly or for a meeting and they were willing to pay the delivery surcharge instead of send someone across the road.
@@Wesbert I'mhonestly one of those people, sometimes I just don't want to put on shoes get my wallet, phone, keys, and walk to the shop when I could have it delivered right to the door
I feel like SpongeBob was streamlined and the characters reduced to the point of having one track minds. I can't believe how soulless SpongeBob has become over the years.
That happened when they made the first movie. When I went to go watch it, I was pissed because it was such trash. And then all is the episodes from then on were trash. They really babied it and it just wasn't appealing to older kids and adults anymore.
Everything is like that 2day all the new cartoons the music holywood movies everything is getting worse. The effects of a participation trophy society sad to watch really
This episode is iconic in my family, specifically the part where spongebob is singing the krusty crab pizza song. definitely my favourite episode out of the entire series
Tbh when I was younger and saw that episode for the first time, I knew that joke was coming so I did laugh but it was more of a “oh wow I was right? That’s the pun?” laugh
As a Texan I took this scene in that episode personal. I liked the episode as a whole and thought it was funny and cute them trying to make Sandy feel less homesick but as a kid I couldn’t get by someone shitting on Texas. Looking back this scene makes me laugh the hardest because it symbolizes how a lot of people view Texas and Texans. Lol
My dad’s favorite episode was Opposite Day, until this episode got onto TV again around a year ago, which was rare. He loved it even more than Opposite Day. My mom’s favorite episode is the one where Krabs tries to date Mrs. Puff, I forgot the name
@@melvinmitchell-freeformed3296 And mine is the one where Spongebob and Mr Crabs think that they killed a health inspector so they go and try to dig a grave for him so they don’t get in trouble for accidentally killing him. It’s hilarious. Also kinda dark but I guess that’s my humor. The Late Shift is also a classic.
If they make a final episode, it’ll be like- -Squidward finally gets praised for his talent and makes it into his art career -Plankton and Mr Krabs become friends again and start working together as partners. -Sandy starts working with someone else to master karate completely, and works at the Kristen Krab part time -Spongebob continues to live his cheerful life, being happy for Squidward and stuff -Patrick’s Patrick. "Is mayonaise an instrument" "No patrick, mayonaise is not an instrument" *Patrick raise hand* "Horseradish isn't instrument either" *Patrick hands down* Seriously this line in this episode is enough for me to laugh for minutes, either then or now One of the best episode in cartoon industry in my opinion
Plankton: “Tell him off Spongebob, be assertive!” Spongebob: “That’s my ice cream!” Plankton: “Great! Now let him have it!” Spongebob: “you can have it.” So simple yet it gets me every time.
Ahh thank you for saying that! I think it looks better than if I had stretched this one out and I wanted this episode to flow kind of like the episode itself does so I’m glad it turned out okay!
Imagine saying something so appalling and insensitive that a force of nature physically pauses for a moment just to help punctuate the reaction of someone who heard it
@@TheStranger513 That scene was gold because it represents how all of us viewers and society at large have the "accepted" position of caring about the customer, as spongebob does. However, every retail worker has had the same feelings as squidward and has had the "I don't give two shits about the customer" thought. It's such a great contrast between someone beaten down by reality and another who still holds their ideals and embodies them.
@[Watch ACE undercover] and see my queen Byeongkwan You see the result of a heavily propagandized US population that culturally learns to not question the actions or sincerity of our military--psychological operations on the public to influence their opinion. US military industrial complex has a big part (influence and spending) in US culture, both in the news and all entertainment (look up 'US military and hollywood'). its why big budget military glorifying films are always made and win awards. the films try to contextualize our foreign involvement as non-predatory, and try to portray those who live on the land we invade as cartoonish bad guys who hate american freedom. military agenda driven talking points are not questioned by many "bootlicking" non-critical thinking americans. things that mostly demonize foreign leaders (that are usually proven later to be false) to justify predatory military action against them. more specifically about iran/iraq/the middle east, US military interest lies in lucrative military contracts, isrealgeopolitical interest (isreal lobby basically owns DC, and speak out often against iran), and instilling puppet govts to leverage the natural resources (oil, opium) and maintain the petrodollar.
the fish who doesn't want the pizza because there's no drink is the most realistic moment in the show. customers will always sacrifice everything they wanted because of one thing not existing
The one episode imo that's extremely underrated that nobody gives any love has tons of quotable moments and is arguably one of the top 5 episodes: Krusty Towers
Krusty towers is one of the only episodes after season 3 that I think is a top tier episode. I think it shows off all the characters personalities really well. Mr.Krabs caring about money too much spongebob caring about the customer too much squidward not caring at all and Patrick is the perfect customer for the jokes
What a learned from this episode years later is how even when you put 1000% of you on your service to the customer they always will be mean to you. And I respect that from Bob. He still do his best even when customers don't deserve it. That's why he will always be the best ❤️ That said I became in Squidward over the years.
I remember tearing up a bit as a kid when the customer said he didn't want the pizza. Seasons 1-3 were peak SpongeBob and none of the later seasons will ever top it.
“Aren’t you Patrick Star?” “Yup” “And this is your I.D “ “Yup” “I found this I.D in this wallet, and if that’s the case, this must be your wallet” “That makes sense to me” “Than take it” “It’s not my wallet”

And its funny that Squidward said "It's just around the corner!" And it was LITERALLY just around the corner, that's why he let spongebob drive, thank you squidward!!!
First three seasons were excellent, seasons 4-5 were okay but still good, seasons 6-8 were horrible, and now most episodes are just insulting kids intelligence and atrociously unwatchable.
Now that I am a “Big Brother” there’s an indescribable righteous anger I get at that jack ass at the end of Pizza Delivery. - This episode perfectly captured that “he may be an idiot but he’s MY idiot” sorta schtick
There was something so aesthetically pleasing about the cell animation era of SpongeBob that feels so elegiac now. It felt so atmospheric. You really wanted to jump in and explore each and every nook and cranny of Bikini Bottom and the surrounding landscape. I miss the old days.
I don’t see people talking about The Best Day Ever enough. It has a great song, and a great moral. Spongebob thinks about himself and what he wants to do, but he actually helps out everyone else without him knowing. Then it finishes it off with an incredible ending, he gets mad since he couldn’t do everything he planned, then he realizes how he helped everyone and feels much better about himself.
Yet another subtle and nuanced example of idiosyncrasy which put early SpongeBob ('99-'04) a cut above the rest. My father used to scold and reprimand my brother and I for sitting in front of the TV for too long whenever we visited my grandparents, who, unlike us had cable. However, whenever SpongeBob was on, he would stop and watch it with us, and always let us finish the episode, because he found it funny too! And he's very well educated man, with a PhD in cultural anthropology, and at times, a cutting wit.
Great video! Personally though, I think Element 2 is less specifically Spongesquid, but instead just having characters contrast each other in a situation. That's why Spongebob and Patrick also work well as a duo in the older episodes: because back then Patrick was built to contrast Spongebob's high energy dorky optimism with a more unrefined, chill demeanor. In fact, all the characters were created to contrast Spongebob in some way. Squidward with his pessimism (in comparison to Spongebob's optimism), Patrick with his lower energy (in comparison to Spongebob's go get 'em attitude), Sandy with her tomboy-ish nature (in comparison to Spongebob's dorkiness), Plankton with his skewed moral compass (in comparison to Spongebob's good nature), and Mr. Krabs with his maturity and older age (in comparison to Spongebob's young age and outlook) I do agree that Squidward is Spongebob's foil character, but I figured I'd bring it up because early-season episodes with other dynamics are also done really well.
An amazing thing is that even when the Pizza song was translated, it was still the thing that stuck with us as children. As you said the context made it what it was no matter the tune.
Makes me sad how much people overlook the ripped pants episode. My siblings and I sang it all the time, and we even made ourselves into a mini choir and harmonized appropriately, and were each assigned certain lines to sing it just like the characters sang it. We only ever got along while watching SpongeBob. Still remember that song to this day 😌
My favorite part is when the flag twirlers twirl the flags so hard that they fly into a plane and die, and then squidward just lies down and goes into fetal position while the trumpeters play the death song.
"We need a new aproach;a new tactic." "I know! Lets get naked!" "No, lets save that for when we're selling real estate" The best episode in my opinion is when the sell candy door to door.

Idk man
Yeah like the pie episode where squidward thinks spongebob is gonna die so he helps him complete his bucket list
Old version squiddy is best boi
@Parker Walker
I think a lot of it comes down to that fine line between being rude, cynical, jaded, ect. and just being downright mean and antagonistic.
@@badfrad1754 There is also the Christmas episode where squidward pretends to be santa so spongebob doesnt feel sad

Grace B yeah that’s the joke for the viewer
Yeah... Maybe when I have a job I would kinda be singing that myself just to cheer up the mood.
I still remember laughing my ass off to that part as a kid. I don’t think I laughed harder at any other joke in the show.
Health Inspector is the *PERFECT EPISODE* Still to this day I laugh about and reference "DIE ZOMBIE" 😂
*Nasty Patty.
But yeah it is REALLY good. Fun Fact: The health inspector got hit in the head *7* times
Good job officer Nancy
It’s that the one with the doctor and Mr. Krabs is scared of the inspection so Squidward and Spongebob have to give him a check up?
There is no ice! There's never been any ice! Ice is just a myth!"
You can’t just leave out squids line “yep he ate it all in one bite”
Makes me sad how much people overlook the ripped pants episode. My siblings and I sang it all the time, and we even made ourselves into a mini choir and harmonized appropriately, and were each assigned certain lines to sing it just like the characters sang it. We only ever got along while watching SpongeBob. Still remember that song to this day 😌
Nerdstalgic is so committed that he rendered the video in the original aspect ratio of the episode. That's amazing.
The "It's Not Just a Boulder" part is without flaw
It’s a rock 😭
Does this mean Patrick actually lives in an rv?
Imho band geeks is *the* perfect episode. Even if it's a mostly a squidward episode, it hits a lot of the same points you call out here.
Like he said, pizza delivery is one of the perfect episodes, but I would like him to cover a happy ending for character like squidward.
Band geeks almost felt like a series finale. It had almost all of the characters, it was funny, and Squidward got a happy ending.
They're not coming, they died lmao
My favorite part is when the flag twirlers twirl the flags so hard that they fly into a plane and die, and then squidward just lies down and goes into fetal position while the trumpeters play the death song.

“Spongebob, if I had a dollar for every brain you don’t have. I’d have one dollar.”
I loved Idiot Box so much because I used to do that stuff in a box we had when I was little, and I thought it was real.
I used to reenact that scene from nasty patty where the cop says "just hold on and we'll go real smoothly" on this rocking horse at my grandparents
Same I always wanted a box when I was little because of that episode... I don't anymore though 😅😂
"We need a new aproach;a new tactic."
"I know! Lets get naked!"
"No, lets save that for when we're selling real estate"
The best episode in my opinion is when the sell candy door to door.
Chocolate with Nuts really is a classic
I still don’t get the joke
Same
Theyre selling what?
I love You.
Kids at ages 3-12: "Squidward's so selfish and boring!"
Late teens and adults: * Watching Spongebob * We can surely relate to Squidward...
That's so true, except he's still selfish.
Ok boomer

Almost nobody thinks he's boring, he's just hypocritical and low tempered. He's selfish towards other people.
