I play NHL 2K6 on PS2 all the time, and have for years ( yes, I know I'm old school with the video games consoles, lol ). You can do amazing one-timers, and heavy body checks! I just find controlling the players a little awkward, as they seem to want to skate either left or right when you want them to skate forwards in a straight line.
I really liked the behind the scenes stuff. Like the fans on the concourse, the players in the locker rooms, warmups etc. Now it's maybe you get the cool opening of the city, and the starting goalies and thats it.
I played sooooo much 2k6 back in the day. I had it on OG XBox, then picked it up on 360 so I could keep playing it on the new gen. Oddly enough I prefer the OG XBox version. There were a few oddities in the 360 version, mostly just little growing pains type things. But THE best thing you could do on this game was turn off the puck shadow. So much of the experience felt muted just by having that on. Having SO many sliders to adjust your gameplay was something EA would probably fire someone for suggesting. You could tune your game to anything from an Expansion era grind to an international free skate game. They scaled that back as time went on, but the original XBox version had plenty to customize the game and plenty of attributes and tendencies to make each player a little different. Player progression in franchise mode was a little weak, but you could adjust the difficulty of the games within franchise mode and the franchise difficulty itself as well. Man, I miss this game so much. The only thing that really bothered me game in, game out was the no fights in the 3rd period thing. And that only bothered me because that was when the cpu team would start to get physical. Other than that this is my perfectly imperfect favorite hockey game of all time. Thanks for the video! And for the trip down memory lane.
My favorite feature in an NHL game, is intimidating an opponent and making their stats worse. I'll never understand how that isn't a feature in the EA NHL series
To me 2K5 was the height of 2K games (NHL and NFL). There was just so much depth in both of those games, and I'd argue that the franchise mode in EA games never caught up to the quality that NHL 2K5 showed until I believe NHL 11, and that was only because they added the CHL, which added a ton of immersion to franchise mode when you're drafting actual players. And even then, I think they screwed that part up quite a bit in terms of how well certain players developed.
NHL 2k6 lost the ESPN license because 2k itself lost the ESPN license to EA before the game came out. I don't think it had anything to do with the TV contract
For me, 2k4 and 2k5 were some of the best hockey games ever made. For some reason I didn't enjoy 2k6 quite as much. I ran into some issues with 2k4 (save got corrupted) and 2k5 (viewing injuries would freeze the game) but the gameplay was top notch. Guess I need to go back and retry 2k10 cuz I hated it so I can only think I must have missed something in the settings or whatever.
2k6 was so solid on PS2. 2K managed to always have very balanced realistic gameplay, making the game more difficult on higher difficulties without making the AI feel like it was cheating. It felt like plays could happen organically, not like AI players completing their pre-programmed passing play. Animations were always smooth and it didn't feel like people were magnetically sucked into animations like hits or goalies making saves. The classic team rosters were amazing as well. I could just play against the cpu all day without any need for online. I can't say the same for EA. I refuse to play EA games offline because of how bad the AI is every single year.
This might be a stupid question, but since you like franchise mode have you ever played more management focused hockey games like Eastside Hockey Manager or Franchise Hockey Manager? In the rare case that you have not, I highly suggest them since they take the simulation onto another lever.
The enforcers really make this game special. You can absolutely destroy guys in nhl19 and it will have 0 effect on gameplay :( . Also really loved walking around the trophy rooms looking at all your accomplishments. Wish this was in games now
Please do NHL2k8,7,9 on 360 and 11 on the Wii. All have their merits!! Esp 8 though you must be patient with the controls on 2k8. And all superior to EA, possibly even to this day.
Mississippi King by Five Horse Johnson is a solid song. If it's good enough for a Tony Hawk game, it's good enough for me. These videos make me brutally aware of how mediocre EA's modern NHL games are. I feel so fucking cheated.
There will be a review of 2K7 of course, but the most notable change is the speed of the gameplay (as they didn't change much else). Admittedly though, I've really enjoyed what I've played of 2K7 thus far
I bet a 2K20 would be way more epic then NHL 20.
You're highly underrated, man. I've been watching for a week now, and your entire channel is a hidden gem. Keep up the good work. Subscribed.

So it's 2k5 with better visuals? Sick. NHL 2k5 and NFL 2k5 are my favorite games in their respective genres.

man I miss these games, so much love and passion put into these 2k games. I was the #1 ranked player from 2k6 to 2k8 on ps2
Hey man, you should try 2KHS, that is the latest hidden hockey game from 2K!
I appreciate this series. It highlights the fall of two franchises.
I had 2k6/2k7 on the original Xbox. I honestly loved it more than 06/07. I just found the graphics were crisp and it felt more fun than ea

You prefer 2k5?
I love 2k 08 it's one of my favorite Hockey games it's so fun and franchise is some of the most fun I've had in any game
Because?
2k8 sucks

I loved 2k6 on the 360. I still have the game now..
same
The core mechanics of 2k6 were great, but I'll never forget the glove side wrist shot exploit - guaranteed goal everytime.
2k6 on the og Xbox was crazy!! Followed by both versions of 07 the next year also being awesome on next generation
This brought back so much nostalgia. I might have to go grab an xbox360 just to play this

Just ordered NHL 2k10 for PS3. Wasn't easy to find.
It’s a fun game.
Oh so the Physics with fixed is that by what you mean better on 360 as in the game play of players play better like today NHL games
Good video
NHL 2k6 lost the ESPN license because 2k itself lost the ESPN license to EA before the game came out. I don't think it had anything to do with the TV contract
2k lost the rights to the ESPN license in 2005 to EA Sports. Which is why NHL 2k6 has no ESPN branding, same with NBA 2k and MLB 2k
All time favorite game Last year For Mario Leminux and Steve Yzerman
I really wish I had this game again, especially as a 2k hockey nut.
As expensive as $2 on Amazon right now. Just depends on the console.
Man nhl2k11 was the worst one
Prefer the 360 version even though I loved the ps2 one in hs. I only keep 2k11 for the rosters only.
Actually you should look up this amazing mod of 2k11 for the Wii
do you know where to find the og soundtrack of the main menu for 2k6?
The graphics and cinematics look better then or the same our modern day NHL games. Come on NHL stop fucking us on decent games......
2k5 was my favorite hockey game of all time
Love this series subbed
Probably my favorite nhl game
NHL 2K7 for Xbox 360 is one of if not the best hockey game
I still have the roster where I had to add Crosby and Ovi in create a player
For me, 2k4 and 2k5 were some of the best hockey games ever made. For some reason I didn't enjoy 2k6 quite as much. NHL 2K6 is better than NHL 06 since both games came out the year after the 2005 NHL lockout 🎮
The wrap around in this game was unstoppable lol
2K6 was hands down the best hockey game ever in my mind.
1:44 danny briere the leftie
do you know where to find the og soundtrack of the main menu for 2k6?
my fav game! wrap around glitch was unbeatable
One time, when I was trying to play a game on this version, it crashed. This is a consistent problem that I had.
I actually enjoyed the soundtrack. Heart and Soul and Maggie were my two favorites.
Look back NHL 04 Dynasty mode because it was epic
Played back through it on stream to fully upgrade the office. Love that game
Underrated channel props
Am I the only one who plays NHL using the Broadcast angle? I hate the overhead angle. I don’t get it.
Out here doing the lords work.
NHL 98 for the computer was my strawberry jam
When 2K left Sega, it was such a huge disappointment. Sega added so much soul to their games.

He does have some FHM videos up, but Tougie should really try EHM or/and start his own online league for it. I would join that at least.
The enforcers really make this game special. You can absolutely destroy guys in nhl19 and it will have 0 effect on gameplay :( . Also really loved walking around the trophy rooms looking at all your accomplishments. Wish this was in games now
Really you don’t like the soundtrack I think it’s great
2K7 SIXAXIS GOALING WAS INSANE
Please do NHL2K8 in the Hindsight series!!
Does anyone know if Gretzky is in the game hidden somewhere or how you can make his caw ?
No, 2k 7, 2k8, 2k9 content?
Got it on my Xbox Series X 😎
Fun game, but wrist shot was broken and goalie control slowed the game way down!
Please do NHL2k8,7,9 on 360 and 11 on the Wii. All have their merits!! Esp 8 though you must be patient with the controls on 2k8. And all superior to EA, possibly even to this day.
2k8s controls get easy when you get used to them. The lack of pens gets annoying tho.
The main difference is 2K is now a horrible developer possibly greedier than EA.
I tried playing 2K6 on the 360, and my copy liked to crash during gameplay.
2k6 for 360 had the easiest money goal maybe ever in a hockey game. Just shoot high LOL
Good game.
Whoa, this game looks good and... Fun? Is that allowed?
Mississippi King by Five Horse Johnson is a solid song. If it's good enough for a Tony Hawk game, it's good enough for me. These videos make me brutally aware of how mediocre EA's modern NHL games are. I feel so fucking cheated.
Goons29 is a perfect username for this game
Nice Video 👍
What happened to 2k
I am not sure.
2k8 is the best one. Don’t @ me!
285 like..super video..
Can you do nhl 2k 11
If I find a Nintendo Wii, I'll try.
@@Tougie24 thanks
I loved 2k4,5,6 it made me not buy EA. 2k7 was the downfall, in my opinion.
There will be a review of 2K7 of course, but the most notable change is the speed of the gameplay (as they didn't change much else). Admittedly though, I've really enjoyed what I've played of 2K7 thus far
Wow, all star game, now we have a lame ass life of chel and ultimate team shit - EA stop think about your wallet
how many seasons is franchise mode in this game?
Idk probably unlimited cuz there is no limit like ea
