I'm so glad you finally got to hear them and see what I was talking about! I still love my MTM's. Hope all is well!
Dude, I bought the I-loud smalls a year ago, use them on the road and in my studio, I cannot shout out how great they truly are, in my studio I have a pair of Adam 8's on top of those an old school pair of Event 8's (still awesome) and in the middle for a mono sum an older KRK 8', but the little I-louds on the outside can stand their ground even among the big boys and are absolutely amazing especially above 5000htz, such clarity its amazing, did not know they made this pair you are demoing, will put them in my budget for 2025, no question about it. Thanks for all your hard work...
Have had them now since the beginning of the year, and they are absolutely insane for the price. Had the smaller MTMs for a couple of years now, and they sounded so good that I pulled the trigger on the Precision MTMs as well. Calibration makes a massive difference, depending on your room. My room is far from perfect, and on first listen I really hated the sound and was ready to immediately return them. Then I did calibrate them, and oh boy...
I’ve owned these for two years now. Switched to them from a genelec 8331 and 7350 system. The comparison is night and day. Stereo image
,frequency and transient response are all exceptional. I would recommend these to anyone without thinking twice. I’ve purchased two pairs for two different studios.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I have had these monitors since February. I've mixed on westakes/genelec bigs/questeds, you name it.. these MTM monitors IMO are a cheaper BETTER alternative to the obtainable genelecs.. and yes I have mixed on those ones too! Awesome kit- glad someone finally reviewed them for the masses!
Thanks maybe a good replacement for Genelec The One 8351B ?
Cashier desk operator freaked out in Aldi, when I wanted to pay for the goods with card in my phone wallet and you started shout at him. I never leave my phone on UA-cam app with your video again. :DDD
LOL
As a voice actor and an ad agency producer-director, the first recording studio in which I worked had two Altec A7-500s driven by two Macintish 30-watt amplifiers in a tiny control room. The sound pressure level could be deafening, but the frequency response and clarity were crystalline.
Now, in my home studio, which is devoted to voice acting, my speakers are relatively inexpensive equators. I only need them for editing. If I really wish to hear the quality of the voice audio, I use a set of Beyer Dynamic DT-770 Pro headphones. An AKG C-12 mic through a Prismsound Lyra converter simply never sounds bad.
Was just having a conversation with our intern about how slept on the Ik brand is. Glad to see them getting some proper love here!
I’ve been using the Precision 6 monitors for a year now, and they are so so impressive. Where I’m at, it’s not possible for room treatment. Still, the frequencies, even the ;low end, really shines through. Great that you are giving good marks to the MTM monitors, which would be too big for my place. Thanks for the review!
I used the ARC system when it first came out to calibrate my speakers. Like you, I found smearing (good word!) in the image and the introduction of some slight phase shifts. I found the room measurements a useful exercise, in that it alerted me to some problems in my room, but once I knew where they were, and, with the use of reference mixes to learn how my speakers were behaving in the room, I was able to compensate... Never felt compelled to use the ARC again...
I love the Precision MTM’s! Have them for almost a year now and they don’t disappoint. One had to go into repair because all of a sudden the power supply stopped, but that was properly handled by Bax and IK. Hope they will will keep serving me from here on
how they sound?
Same for me. One was dead on day one, had to replace. Funny thing is, the same happened to me two times with the small MTMs. They sound amazing, but IK has definitely a quality problem.
@@valuemastery are they better then adam a7x?
@@GermoStaalfeldt Imhave no direct comparison myself, but from what I hear, they are indeed. I think it's safe to say that they sound better than anything in a similar price range.
Thanks for doing this! I have had a pair for over a year, and since these speakers have really been under the radar, I've been asking myself if I'm alone in liking them. After getting used to them (which did take a bit of time), I've been getting excellent results. I also use 2 other pairs of monitors and an Avantone in mono. I do use the MTMs as my main speakers, and really only one emulation. I have a few of the other emulations to flip to in order to see if anything is jumping out. Also, thank you for the stereo smear advice. I'm going to recalibrate and be careful about getting it right. The advice below about marking with tape is very helpful.
I actually purchased the Arc a while back and never ran into this problem from left to right calibration. I did a 21 point calibration at 3 levels and everything was the same on both sides. Maybe it's different on these monitors. If you can let me know what you think compared to the arc. I actually had a massive 50hz bump in my room. I was shocked to see it. The arc took care of it so no complaints using Genelec 8040's. Great review.
The arc module does not have this problem
love the format, love the energy and enthusiasm, love the unbiased review, and love that CHICKEN T-SHIRT!!!!
Game Over
I’ve been messaging channels, trying to get them to review the precision fives and sixes. I’m glad somebody finally did because there are not enough reviews on them! I have them and they made my Adam’s reference monitors.
Stereo is the new Mono - Love it!
great video. Do you recomment the arc that it comes with or sonarwerk soudid reference?
Nice review Wietze, please review the Barefoot Footprint 03
Stereo is the new mono 🤣
best thing ive heard in a while
I think the Arc hardware correction system actually would be an antidote for that stereo smearing issue you were having as a result of the analysing process.
The hardware records both channels at the same time so you're not doing just one speaker and then later doing the other.
I have one in my studio and i created correction profiles for 3 different monitors via my monitor control switch. So all monitors can run through that switch and be corrected via the hardware ARC by simply changing the profile in the software to match the speakers I'm listening to.
All that said, does anyone know how these compare to the Kh120a?? 🤔
with the driver setup, wouldnt they work well laying down too?
You did a lot of things right in this video (my opinion). I like that you had them in a bad room first, because that's probably an issue for many people. I also like that you had them in your treated room next, because that's what more privileged people care about and those are probably the target audience of this version of the ilouds. The stereo-field issue is interesting, I appreciate that you figured out the root-issue. I do not experience this issue, but I'm a pedantic when it comes to setting things up (very german). Thus, the mic placing is immaculate.
I'm a fan of the ilouds. I think "functional" is a great way to describe IKMultimedia. But it's functional in a good way.. they outperform many companies that "look and feel" (and cost) like higher quality. My favorite speakers (haven't tested speakers like your main ones though...).
I love IK stuff. Just picked up Total Studio 4 Max (it gives you basically everything they make) for their Black Friday deal (only 150). It's freaking awesome.
Question: Could you review their Micro Monitors? They seem interesting and I am looking at purchasing a pair as these are a bit pricy.
I use ARC 4 and when I calibrate I put a little piece of tape in all 7 calibration postions and this works perfectly to get accurate measurements. When you're all finished simply throw the tape away. In ARC 4 you have a Linear setting and in my smallish mixing room it greatly improved the stereo image over the Natuaral setting. 😎
What item do you put tape on?🤔
I think u can calarbrate 1 an then copy the curves over to the other one. 🤔
Nice video, also wondered how they would sound. Did you also put them on stands? To avoid desk resonances? Keep pushing!
Curious about your studio speakers. Have you ever compared them to Kii Audio Three?
I would love to see Igl Schönwitz from The Soundphile testing your system and you testing his Strauss speakers.
why not raise the tweeter to ear height?
yep sloppy calibration...also he should move away from the direct field when calibrating.
best shirt ever.
I tested these speakers with about a dozen other speakers for two atmos rooms that my studio built a few years ago. I hated the MTMs. The dealer also gave us the precision 6's. I put those up just out of curiousity. I found the precision 6's to be far more accurate than the MTM's. We bought a gigantic pile of precision 6's for our atmos rooms.
You might want to check out Lipinski L-707 with upgraded A drivers if you like MTM rendering. That’s what I use in my mastering studio.
It makes me anxious to see a beverage on your desk right next to faders in the same plane!
NotSoFun fact, I spilled it over the faders of the Neumann console last week
that drink on your desk at the end is making me feel anxious
IK are very underrated, the plug-ins are as good as anybody else’s, have really good results with all their products I’ve used
Agres
Super underrated!
is a well know company with many users
They are, but their progress of installing plugins and so is horrible (im owning, but jot using a lot of their bundles ).
@@cubexBeats I don't know man, but I dare to disagree with you on this one.
All you have to do is to download and log in into the IK's plugin manager, and you can just click to authorize and install as many plugins as you need in a couple of clicks....just like with Universal Audio's manager, and they also need the god awful iLock manager on top of that as well, while IK does not need it. If you mean it is slow to download and install the plugins, Yes I agree, it is comparatively slower than UA's, but it definitely is not more cumbersome as a process.
I like the style of video.
ok 2x aangeschaft bij thomann via je link. waarom is dat spul zo duur eigenlijk?
You are getting better at this.
3:30 bear in mind we are listening to your audio through our speakers so it probably doesn't matter so so much but recently saw this in another video too where they are commenting on music the viewer can't hear. BTW you actually can get sync licensing .... just getting it usually involves contracting, the major labels imo have been a little restrictive in use allowances atleast with my limited experiences with Disney and Warner. IMO if you are affiliated with them it may be easier to access their content through internal processes maybe There are a lot of people who likely would love for their music to be placed in your videos. The stuff here goes up and down all the time not really release ready. There are TONS of "no copyright" music groups though. So there is no shortage, but usually you need to pay for sync allowance. That said sync is a product.. it makes sense they don't want their profit being eroded by unlicensed use of the music. "While streaming revenue saw its first stretch of single digit growth since the financial crisis - 7% year-over-year - sync royalties skyrocketed nearly 25% in the same time period for a total of $382.5 million. Not bad considering revenue from music sync licensing had last peaked at $285.5 million in 2018, and slid for several years before a 14.2% rebound in 2021. “[Sync royalties are] the fastest-growing revenue category now," ... From Songtrust article That said there are tons of sources for royalty free sync materials, its just that major commercial content sells sync so it won't give it away for free BUT there are sync contracts and contact points with all the labels you just need to clear the use and it can take like a month to process the request. Yeah good music can cost money to use, the industry commodifies it, so it makes sense they are going to use the system to their advantage. I am a little surprised you don't know how sync licensing works?? (edited out my link in event that is the reason the comment was removed.)
It turned out that this is really really good monitors, i use them as second pair. They sound as good as speakers that cost 2 or more times more. So far very good impression. And i have no issues with stereo at all, somehow stereo even better with calibration on. However, I have some complaints.. guys from IK, why did you make the buttons on the controller so bright? It kills me, especially when you work in a dark room. And also why you can't save lowcut filter position with a custom presets?)
I have them too. Fantastic spealers !!!
Your nails are so beautiful
hi, can you make a video about the new waves curve equator? would appreciate that
i appreciate the review , i use the smaller set of those with a jbl subwoofer , between that and headphones it is a close as i can get to good translatable mixes that i can afford. ---always look forward to your videos!!!
Did you manage to room correct the sub as it has no built in room correction?
Stereo is the new mono now lets play sandstorm by darude!
Yes. I liked it. And I died with stereo is the new mono. 😂
Great video. Would like to see more of these for sure!
i love my medium iloud mtm's. always wished for a bigger version because of the missing lo end. these semm perfect... unfortunately out of my current budget.
should i get these or the Barefoot Sound Footprint03's 😵
It’s all about what works best in your room and what sounds right to you. Take the time to listen and compare different speakers. If you're considering options in that price range, I'd also recommend checking out the Dynaudio LYD-48 they’re in a similar bracket and worth a listen.
You should test the Iloud mtm Mk2 :). I Always enjoy your videos man!.
This is the old version??? 😅
I listened to Precision 6, it sounds like rubber, with a low volume margin and not strong enough transients at the bottom, they have some signs of monitoring, maybe we should expect more from MTM
would love to hear some demos with DRM free music atleast! when one youtuber done a few of these demos its atleast good to compare different speakers, atleast to get a rough idea
You are like the Legowelt of music tutorials
I want them. Please look my way when you want to give it out.
quadrophon is a new stereo, 5.1 is a new qudrophone, 7.1 is a new 5.1 still to the end is all great Mono :D
GREAT VIDEO
The main disadvantage of speaker tests, compared to almost every other test is, that you cannot share your experience. No way. Under this precondition, and watching the effort you spent on the test with different rooms (and measuring), I must say: You made me curios!
bro, you need t-shirt "STEREO IS THE NEW MONO"
So if you buy 2 you get 2 mics? Do I miss something? :D
Yes
@Whiteseastudio isnt that weird? ^^
Great video bro.
Regarding the music license. If you had a legit license, meaning, if you had purchased a royalty free music, no royalties would be collected from the video, if you have bought the right license, that is. You have probably used music which was maybe advertizes as "free", but in fact it was free of front payment, but they reserve the rights to colect royalties. Just a thing to keep in mind for future videos.
But yes, I agree that in this age, the amount of usage can be precisely calculated and royalties could be split acordingly.
No, I was playing commercial music for which a sync license would have just been waaaaay too expensive
@@Whiteseastudio Yes, licenses for those are absurd for this kind of use. I agree with the idea that things should be calculated and royalties payed acordingly. In film and tv, you usualy get payed per minute of music being used. I don't see why YT and other video platforms don't function like that too.
Irko (Mixing engineer Kanyes DONDA) has though speakers. They're great!!!!!!
I have been using Precision 6 for almost a year now. I used Genelecs, Adams, Focals, Neumann etc... The tech, love, class and sound put behind these boxes are only on par with speakers double their price. Pair them with Arc Studio, ignore their built-in version, and they'll open up even more. Amazing VFM considering what you get for the price and they sound twice their price, to say the least.
same as my experience I was so surprised! Crush the gennies. The little grey ones... and the neumann 3 ways!
I am thinking to ad a subwoofer to my precision mtm's. Was always wondering if i can integrate an external sub to my mtm's with the arc 4 but wasn't sure if i get a weaker performance if not using the integrated room correction
Better than Neumann kh 310???
@@CANKRAFTWERK Though when it comes to monitors , it can get quite subjective, I believe that they do sound and perform quite close to the 310. Don't get me wrong, 310s are amazing pieces of studio tech, It's just that I would go with the IKs because of the aforementioned reasons :)
@@Luis.Angel.Torres Amazing what can be achieved nowadays. IK is a slept on brand!
What if you have two 10-second clips of music in your video, from different artists? Do both of them get the full revenue from your video?
😂 big dip, that is small dip my friend. 3 db in un treated room is amazing
funny that you talk about timing and then you don't angle up the speakers toward your ears, so there is a timing difference between the upper and lower mid-woofer, creating dips in the response.
Yeah, I managed to purchase almost all of IK's software (really), 2x audio interface, tonex pedal, basically all guitar gear and ARC.
Iloud's are next, the most expensive and last on my list, because i still use my 10+ years old M-Audio BX5 monitors. But since I dont make money on music, I will propably afford Iloud MTM's in another decade :D
I also feel IK's product quality went up a lot these years. Tonex pedal & software took guitar world like a storm, winning with Kemper and possibly even neural dsp's hardware, and these two manufacturers were basically top of the top in terms of guitar sound. Tonex smashed it with it's portability and price. And they update their products, and updates are really huge. For example Tonex pedal will be boosted with modulation FXes and delay this month. IK's strategy is great, they also listen to the customers. It also looks like my comment is sponsored, but no, I am just a IK's fanboy for a year or two.
Just watched Your video to the end. If You don't know what to do with this pair, You can send them to me, no problem! I will use it, promise XD
Thank you so much for putting so much effort in the video editing, and this perfect scientific review (testing the speakers in several situations).
RESPECT!!!
Why wouldn't you automatically use the microphone in the exact same position?
6:20 is the worst frequency response measurement i have ever seen , isn't the room treated ?
The room is not treated that well, and the location of the speakers in the room was not ideal… But thats exactly what I wanted to achieve in order to get a good overview of what the room correction could do. When testing room correction in a superb room, the correction isn’t doing much…
Can you tell us what the original music would have been so that other UA-camrs can avoid accidentally incuring their wrath too, save much hassle for others?
Plus some may like their music and they'll gain a fan or two.
Basically all music is copyrighted and will get flagged
amazing
Speakers also will got cheaper with competitions and quality in modern times
What's good 😊.Now listen, why don't you raffle some of the products you review? You have a bunch of people that are loyaly watching your videos for years now! Just asking 😁 Greets
I have asked a dealer in my neighbourhood but I probably live in the wrong hood …
Very well done video and review!
they look like the ex machina design!
Non linear curve to find your affordable home studio speakers.
You only know when you have overdone it.

Caffeinated Oil.
I didn't look at the chicken on your shirt.
This will be a good one 🔥🔥🔥
You have an add saying 10x better mix 10x faster. Review this service.
I love(d) my MTM's, but I blew a woofer...
Does that mean you’ll do a give away 🤓
i hate monitors
That's ok, they still love you!
be aware. the IK Multimedia customer support is REALLY horrible and these are MOST definitely are not build for longetivity, two friends of mine had trouble with two of their smaller models.
£845 a piece? Yes, they are very cheap..... I think Yamaha and KRK with their VXt lineup should be ashamed with their pricing....
What is not perfect in your videos ever :D. I find this bs man. You do a speaker review, and testing the sound out, and you live of of youtube for so many years, and you know their copyright issues with songs. Why not using copyright free songs or some of your friends you know they won't be copyright claimed and actually show us how they sound. You had enough time to make and edit this video. I just don't get it
your video edits are choppier than the north sea, quite unwatchable.......
no body needs that if u can mix you can mix it needs skills not speaker with blabla software and shit
