As a malay, I feel terribly sorry to hear about this issue. I was born as a Malay so I don't know how big it is impacting the other races. The British mistake gave the non-bumi Malaya federation unfair treatment, non-bumi people do not have the same rights as the so-called universal human rights. Instead of making the mistake of doing reforms to make the Federation of Malaya independent, the non bumi groups are now being bullied and discriminated against in this area. 1. Discrimination: Education: Non-bumiputera students often face challenges in accessing public university placements and scholarships due to the quota system that favors bumiputeras. 2. Jobs: The practice of preferential hiring in the public sector causes less representation of non-bumiputeras in government jobs. 3. Economic Opportunities: Permits and business licenses often prioritize bumiputera applicants to the detriment of non-bumiputera entrepreneurs. 4. Government Contracts: Bumiputera companies are often given preferential treatment when bidding for government contracts, which can limit opportunities for non-bumiputera businesses to compete fairly. 5. Not Merit-Based Scholarships: Introduce scholarships that are not based on academic performance and financial need, rather than solely on ethnic background. 6. Not Fair Business Practices: Implement policies that do not ensure fair competition for business licenses and permits. Not provide support and incentives for entrepreneurs from all ethnic backgrounds, focusing on socio-economic need.
But the bumis now are being bullied by being cornered out of private sector employment. Literally all jobs have a "must be able to speak Chinese" requirement. The Indians are being cornered out too

I'm all in with the equal rights but the minorities would rather keep their children separated from mingling with other races at early age than to allow for them to assimilate and actually learn to live in a diverse community. As you mentioned, Chinese dominated the retails and businesses. Therefore, they have the power to priorities their own people when it comes to employment. Even if Malays, Chinese, and Indians are employed in the same company, eventually the Chinese are more likely to get more raise and bonuses compared to the other two. Not to mention that Chinese will always be given the biggest chance at climbing up the corporate ladder compared to Malays and Indians. This is the true reality of Malaysia.

I would say this country is a God cursed country. How can so many sultans and a revolving King be a blessing ? This country has been destroyed by a badly written Constitution favouring one race and religion and badly governed by corrupt govts and politicians.
You don’t understand how disgusting the race laws are in my country. To put it briefly, other than the obvious fact such as unfair quotas etc which extends to employment as well btw (employers are expected to have 30-50% Malay workers as part of the company or they pay extra taxes, in some industry it’s strictly mandatory) It also creates a superiority complex for the Malays and they are not afraid to show it. Creating entitled Malays in our everyday lives that we have to deal with. This is despite the fact that Chinese and Indians contribute to almost 40% of Malaysia’s GDP (probably higher if you take into account the fact that money companies have ‘fake’ business license owners, whereby traditionally rich Chinese families find a Malay representative to get their business licenses for them as it’s much more beneficial and an overall easier process to get your business incorporated) It also creates a culture that is very well known in Malaysia, where malays are so fine with living off government subsidies and incentives they barely care to work properly at all, this is where our country’s ‘lazy Malay’ stereotype comes from. Lastly the race card is literally the strongest card in politics. Many politicians pull out cards to show how much they are ‘for the Malays’ prior to elections, showing racial discontent and garnering more votes, while more liberal parties are forced to pull out cards that they are liberal but they will never ‘jeopardise Malay rights’ to have to counter any race cards that are pulled out by their conservative oppositions, making elections a volatile period everytime. There’s also a stark difference between rural and urban places. In urban places the people are more tense as is with city cultures, so on the outside it looks like there is more racial divide, but by strictness of Muslim laws spilling into other cultures, it’s more prevalent in rural areas where a Chinese women was arrested and fined with indecent exposure for wearing shorts in her own front yard. Now don’t get me wrong. Malaysian people as a whole are amazing, away from politics 90% of Malays I have interacted with are very wholesome and makes me very patriotic when I sense unity, but when politics come into play it seems everything in people just switches. More than fixing the policies I think we first need to fix our politics, we have learnt to live with the unfair policies and honestly it does not affect me much (can’t say the same for lower income households as I was quite fortunate in terms of the family I was born into). Nevertheless I strongly believe that fixing political issues is our first way forward to unity. Especially vernacular schools in Malaysia where there are schools designated for each race (that does not mean Chinese students can’t enroll in Malay schools or vice Versa) but since the school is literally named ‘sekolah jenis kebangsaan cina’. It’s no surprise that more Chinese will be enrolled in that school. As a result this does the superiority complex and division in our children, the future generation from a young age. Unlike Singapore who forced their citizens to live work and shit together no matter the race, and see how much better their unity is now. Now there are more and I do not mind expanding on more if other people would like to know.

The british promised to send back these workers to their respective countries but the british refused to send them back for reason only they knew it. A compromise was sealed. One millions of these workers were allowed to stay back in malaya & given the citizenship status & the indigenous/malays & aborigines must be given special rightsas enshrined in the constitution. So what the fuss questioning the right of the malays..
You failed to mention the amazing work done by catholic nuns and brothers in running missionary schools. I grew up in the sixties- we were not pigeon holed- all races integrated. The rot set in during the seventies and hasn’t stopped since. They are in a deep hole and yet they keep digging.
Those leaving Malaysia are making the right choice. I too would advice anyone who can find a job or a life outside of the country, no matter what race, to just leave to have a better life for them and their families.
Seems to me you might get something wrong. The British did force multi cultural and segregation of Malaysia, but after independence, the corruption and ethnical double standard are what your country has done to itself. After the independence, the country achieved the choice to determine its own destiny. Apparently, it failed to do so and stuck in this vicious circle. Singapore was also part of the empire, has arguably the most similar social condition to Malaysia, and has far more challenging limitation than its neighbours, but still has done times better than Malaysia. Besides, I thought Chinese and Indian leaving the country suit your agenda in the first place. If anything, you should celebrate.
Super contentious issue in the country as you can imagine. I think most people would agree the current state of things needs improvement but given the failures of the affirmative actions it makes it harder to rebalance the situation. That said, the government is starting to make some small positive actions in this space and hopefully in the future we can be equally proud of all Malaysians and stop judging one another by ethnicity.

You might also want to research into the Chinese settlers of Borneo. They don't share the same history as those of Chinese Malayans. The Chinese came to Sarawak in at least 2 main waves ... the first wave around 1700 to work in Brunei ..... at that time Brunei occupied the whole northern coast of Borneo. From about 1720 onwards, Chinese emigration to Borneo increased at the encouragement of the Sultanates of Sambas, Memperwah and Pontianak. The second wave, and more specifically to Sarawak, was encouraged by the White Rajah, Raja James Brooke and his successors.
U cant just talk as if Malaysia having mostly back end semiconductor investments as a failure. To reach this level of investments & networking is already a lot of work & not easy to do. Many countries failed to even reach 10% of what we achieved. The Malaysian semiconductor story could have been better but it is a great success story. While I do agree that the NEP is counter productive. I also like to point out that the US used to ban all Chinese immigrants from migrating to the US. Because the Chinese were dominating all industries in California. Give them more time their populations will move east & they will dominate the entire USA. White people can't compete with Chinese & Indians just like Malays. Even today the US has an affirmative actions policy that discriminates Asian people the most. Even with these racist policies Asians especially Chinese & Indians make up 40% of all top US universities despite their populations making up less than 7% of US populations. Europeans have even less Asian populations so they can talk big. If the Chinese & Indian populations reached 30% in western countries like they did in Malaysia. They will have their own NEP. I also don't get why nobody ever mentions Affirmative Actions in the US, South Africa, India, etc. Nobody ever talks about injustices of racism faced by different races in these countries. Why is it only in Malaysia? Is it because it is done by a Muslim majority country it is just much cooler to point that out compared to other countries. Just look at how many times he mentioned "Muslim" Malays in the video. See how he likes to stress that out multiple times.

Nobody compares it to apartheid system when it comes to Blacks but when it comes to Malays or if we are being honest, Muslims. Everybody just loveee to point out this fact. Lets not forget that Whites were intimidated by Chinese too especially in the US to the point they banned all Chinese immigrants more than 100 years ago. White kids are lazy. I used to live in the US & their education systems are so easy I could do it in my sleep. It is laughable how the majority of white kids can't get straight A's at school & they can't perform well for the SAT exam. If Malaysia's education system is easy peasy like in the US. I can guarantee you that a lot more Malays would get straight A's and Malay students will be more encouraged to study hard. But when you have an education system that trains you to be a robot, the Malays cannot cope with it. Only the Chinese & to a lesser extent the Indians can cope with it. I highly doubt lazy white kids can adapt with this type of system as well. Don't let me get started on Black or Latino students because they are even worse.

Instead of making the mistake of doing reforms to make the Federation of Malaya independent, the non bumi groups are now being bullied and discriminated against in this area.
1. Discrimination:
Education: Non-bumiputera students often face challenges in accessing public university placements and scholarships due to the quota system that favors bumiputeras.

I would say this country is a God cursed country. How can so many sultans and a revolving King be a blessing ? This country has been destroyed by a badly written Constitution favouring one race and religion and badly governed by corrupt govts and politicians.
Yup. All the Sultans and King swore to be defender of Islam. Long live Islam.!
You don’t understand how disgusting the race laws are in my country. To put it briefly, other than the obvious fact such as unfair quotas etc which extends to employment as well btw (employers are expected to have 30-50% Malay workers as part of the company or they pay extra taxes, in some industry it’s strictly mandatory)
It also creates a superiority complex for the Malays and they are not afraid to show it. Creating entitled Malays in our everyday lives that we have to deal with. This is despite the fact that Chinese and Indians contribute to almost 40% of Malaysia’s GDP (probably higher if you take into account the fact that money companies have ‘fake’ business license owners, whereby traditionally rich Chinese families find a Malay representative to get their business licenses for them as it’s much more beneficial and an overall easier process to get your business incorporated)
It also creates a culture that is very well known in Malaysia, where malays are so fine with living off government subsidies and incentives they barely care to work properly at all, this is where our country’s ‘lazy Malay’ stereotype comes from.

My direct ancestors spilt their blood and gave their own life fighting for this land while their ancestors refused to join the cause. However, after the dust settled, we patiently endured their antics of demanding the same privileges. When hardship came, they left. With all due respect, goodbye to those who left. This land will still stand.

I think because when opportunities are not given to the non-privileged and then other countries saw the non-privileged having higher intelligence and better values, they will of course swipe the opportunity. Blind loyalty does not provide food on the table and does not get you out of poverty when privilege is given to others for race reasons.
Edit : spelling error
@@silverjuly9339 You have no idea on the subject you were talking about aren't you? To get the same privilege, we all have to go to the same school, have same national silibus, speak and practice the same national language, use the same requirements to pursue higher educations base on the national silibus, etc etc
However, one particular group wants to segregate themselves apart from everyone by refusing to accept the above stuffs, demanding a separate school by ethnicity, different silibus from everyone else, and then they demanded equal privileges? Talk is cheap. But when it is time to walk the talk, they put in the reverse gear and then pedal to metal. Four generations living here and yet still cannot understand nor speak coherently in their own national language. Etc etc
Why the whole country must change according to their whim, why they do they think they are special and above anyone else instead of adapting and integrating themselves with others. 'We want equal privileges' is really a joke here.
So, they choose to leave. Good for them. Malaysia is not opened unconditionally. You get what you give and they refused to give. So, goodbye then. Good luck to them.

@@lagubrok92 People like you are the problem and you're unable to see that you're cutting your nose off to spite your face. During Ramadan, the Malays sleep for a month and it doesn't make the slightest bit of difference. During the two week Chinese New Year holiday there's a near complete shut down of essential businesses. Left to yourselves you wouldn't know what to do.
I am from national school system and speak fluent Malay with my fellow Malay friends. I got good results and still get discriminated for the course I want to pursue in universities. What nonsense are you talking about?
@@enghangan8342 No, what nonsense are you trying to portray here? Which school were you from? Which university did you applied? What course or program? What was your SPM result? There is no BS discrimination what so ever, only you get what you give.
Imagine if we were a meritocracy. Everyone wins in the long run.
Reasons for Actions - Seeking Accountability from MCA:
1. Historical Responsibility:
Holding these party accountable for their roles in establishing and perpetuating policies that have led to systemic discrimination against non-bumiputera communities on approved the Economic Policies:
1.
New Economic Policy (NEP): Introduced in 1971, the NEP aimed to eradicate poverty and restructure society to eliminate the identification of race with economic function. However, it continued to favor bumiputera in areas like government contracts and business licenses.
2.Seeking Accountability from MCA

MCA (Malaysian Chinese Association) played significant roles in the negotiation and formation of the Federation of Malaysia's constitution, including the implementation their involvement in the political process has contributed to the systemic discrimination against non-bumiputera communities.
3.

Their approval and endorsement of these policies have perpetuated inequalities, such as areas like government contracts, business licenses, and educational opportunities. This has led to a systemic marginalization of non-bumi communities.
@leaflight7903 Right. We must remember chinese/indians are not minorities in Malaysia. They are refugees from China/india. What right has China/india. citizens to come to Malaysia? Orang Asli are minorities.
I am a wantanmee lover. In the 90s it cost RM2 and now it cost RM8. We are no different from Bangladesh, both countries have the same GDP. Suffering Malaysians
Malaysia has lost the pool of young talent to all developed and developing countries such as Singapore, Japan, Taiwan, Germany, UK, America, Australia and New Zealand and others. Why are all these countries willing to absorb talented young people? They are the most valuable human assets of the countries for future competitiveness. However, Malaysia's rhetorical politics wants to prioritize one race to marginalize the other, through 5 decades of NEP policy. Now the impact of NEP resulted that all Malaysians are enslaved in the middle income trap. Now everyone has experienced economic hardship. Universities graduate underemployment. The Super-rich are untouchable. Where are the young Malaysian multi races talent pools ? It was 5 decades of migration of highly trained people.
