- Healing in World of Warcraft can be one of the most fun things to do, or it can be the most painful. Addons are a great way to help assist in the battle though! But which healing addon is right for you? In this video I show each addon (default frames, grid, healbot, and vuhdo) and go over the basic pros and cons from my personal experience and include some feedback from the community as well. Also showed the addon healium, which I DO NOT recommend for healing. If you're unsure of which addon/setup is right for you try them all! What works for one healer may not work for another :) If you have any questions or have any of your own pros and cons of the addons mentioned, then leave a comment!

I'm not very experienced in healing (I've only levelled a druid to 84 and priest to 85) but when I did it I tried Vuh do and like you said it's overwhelming. I got confused and stopped and just healed with the default stuff.
If you could do a customisation video then I'd be very grateful as I've recently made a holy paladin.

I use Helium as my healing addon and stumbled across your video looking for a new one to use. Healium is great for party healing (5 mans) because it is easy to use and you don't have to target anyone or remember any keybinds or mouse commands. However, I just healed my first 25 man raid and it was terrible. My healing was fine but I could not see a single thing happening because Healium devoured my entire screen. I have tried using HealBot but there was something about it that I didn't like compared to Healium. I definitely will try Vuhdo now though, but first I might watch your tutorial video. It seems very overwhelming.
I personally wouldn't even use Healium for 5mans, just seems far easier to use something else personally! Good luck with VuhDo, it can be very overwhelming at first but it's the only healing addon I use now :)
Lol Helium. I started with that addon. And like you said, it gets really annoying when you're in a big group. You can't even xD

Hi, I have used healium for a while now in Arena and RBG's and BG's. I agree if your in a big group, one side of your monitor can be taken up. But you can resize and only activate the heals you need. I find it very easy to use.

Glad it works for you! Personally I wouldn't use it in a group above 5, I'm not a fan of clicking to heal.
I restarted my wow subscription today, and this video was great to get me up to date with healing add-ons. I used to use Vuhdu however I'm a bit worried that it wont be updated again. Which add-on is most similar to Vuhdu in your opinion?

I use Healium, and i like it alot, but i kind of wish for the dps it would only show whats in range, and make those not in range not on shown. i just dont think i can manage clicking or mousing over a frame then Shift + right click or anything. i like things simple.

I would just like to say that helium is actually great in dungeons but I will agree that it is of no use in a raid or battleground. Its a good starter add-on for the lower levels.
Hi. I have a question. My guild want me to use Healbot. I do not like heal addons in general. I have used a few including Healium. I use Mousevoer macros with Shadowed Unit Frames. However, I am trying to use Healbot currently. How do I turn off the Error Speech in Healbot? I have Error Speech disabled in Interface
I am not sure, I haven't had Healbot installed in years :3 But, if you're not wanting to use Healbot you shouldn't have to use it and your guild should understand that. Especially if you have an addon you like better, that works for you.
Completely Agree with the Video, Healbot-- Horribly ugly. To a point where I cannot actually see someones health by the amount. But basically by spotting their health bar changing from yellow the red. A horrible experience overall >.< But is there a video made for the addons you use totally? Or how to make a UI like yours. either would be fantastic. thank you! :D

its not as bad as you think, if you right click on the tab you can change the option, size, ect. but for 25m you got to scale it down and throw it to the side. its "ok" but like i said not the greatest. if it only showed whats in range.
Even if it did show people out of range, it's not an addon I would recommend for healing in a raid environment. There are just far too many better options that will take up less screen space and gimp a healer far less. If you like it - great, but it's not something I would ever recomend to a new healer.
May I ask what addon you have for your health bar? I've been dying to find out.. but no one knows what I'm talking about when I explain it to them. I have healbot but I've seen videos where they have their Hp/Mp where yours is located in this video, then they have heal bot on the left side of the screen where your default HP/MP and Party members were. ..I want to set up mine like that. D:

I wonder if there is any option or any addon that shows which is allied with the lowest hp, which is the priority of healing.
In view of Healbot u have hp all, so just see who is at the lowest life and start helar. What I would like is to appear just a box (or would be in order) of those in need of hela without clicking to get all over the place under the addon

Technically, the lowest HP person wouldn't necessarily be a priority for full burst healing depending on what content it is. Regardless, I personally do not know an addon that does that. Find it much easier and more effective to be able to see everyone's health bars and it just show a drop in health, which isn't hard to look for/see once you get the hang of it.
Currently I do use Helium on a holy paladin and resto shaman. in 10 man raids it is not too bad, I put the frames off to the right hand side of the screen with my cd timers on the right.
I keep trying to rework the ui, but with an mmo mouse my dps binds are a cinch but healing I find it hard to key bind keys 6 and over, healium keeps everything in one place, and just off the name plates it shows me all the hots and other buffs I have cast. I combine that with some keybinds for my aoe and totems and got a workable interface for the time being.
I'm still just not a fan of the addon, find there are far better healing addons out there but glad it works for you! I use a mmo mouse as well (razer naga epic to be specific) and have just a few of the buttons keybound for healing, plus the binds I have with my keyboard, and then the mouse clicks that I have for vuhdo. In the end the best healing setup is the one that works for you :D
Ugh, good video but your constant breathing into the mic coupled with the low volume makes it unwatchable. I have to turn it up loud to hear you and then I get these random super loud pops from your breathing.
TheKidCoolest Unfortunately I had a crappy mic then, wasn't breathing just the mic itself. I have since upgraded :)
Healium > all if you only have one hand. I can also see what the creators were trying to accomplish with it, but I don't see how what they were trying to do can be done, so they did the best they could.
Yeah :P I get what they were trying to make with it but it's still aesthetically not pleasing.
I have problem with my Grid . i love Grid its good. but how can i Show if anybodys have debuff what I will must cleanse.
+Ede Csizóczki I don't really use grid that often so I cam not sure, but I believe you need to download an addition to the grid addon. Otherwise should find something in the settings for it.
looking forward to watching the vid. looked well thought out. didn't get past the intro. That mic noise was too much and I shut down and moved on.
Was either an issue with the mic itself or the software - it has sense been fixed but sorry you felt that way.
Not a personal thing. It was just hard on my ears. I'll give my personal favorite and hated. favorite: healium. sooo easy and soo powerful. hated: healbot. Overly complex exponentially and very cumbersome. very little good visual feedback.
Teamtuxedo Which I understand :p Which is why its been addressed both in the video and the comment section and why it's suggested to turn your volume down which helps. Healium is one of the worst healing addons you could possibly use, it does nothing more than teach bad habits. Healbot is probably one of the ugliest, but someone would be far better off using it over healium.

i just recently downloaded healbot and i was wondering do u know how to like set it where the characters are near u can heal them and like when others are not near u there faded.. i be clicking people that are dying and there are not around me
I honestly don't know :/ I don't use healbot personally.
@veroicone like good video but the mic pop is so bad please move the mic away from your mouth the air pops are so loud...
As I've already addressed, it was the mic. Had a pop filter and it was no where near my mouth :)
One thing, put the mic abit away from your mouth, everytime you blow on it your voice becomes low, so hard to hear sometimes.. otherwise gr8

Make a new folder anywhere and call it UI, then copy interface and the WTF folder into the UI folder. Also include the font folder if there is one :)
Then in the WTF>account folder there should be a folder with some numbers like 3234#1 or something, rename that to "accountname" in that folder you should also rename the server folder name. Mine is outland, so i would rename that to servername. In the servername folder, rename your characters foldername to "charactername"
If you do that, everyone knows how to install it as they just have to copypaste the interface folder and copy the WTF folder and rename the "accountname", "servername" and "charatername"

I would love for you to make the video on how you set up VuhDo. I am just starting a druid and want to learn how to heal for my group, however I have only run a hunter and this is totally out of my comfort zone. Any help you can give me I would greatly appreciate.

For casual healers (like myself) i recomend healbot. My main is tank but i played every calss and every spec at highest level (90 at moment). But as healing is not my main thing this is easy mode usable healer. Also i like click thing so i can use keybinds for other non heal spell stuff plus makes me very agile (freedom of movement, specialy with druid).
I have used Healium since it came out, it's faster than any of the other ones i've tried. To set it up you can open your spell book and drag and drop the spells into the empty box. No fuss no muss ;-)
+Jerry Brown Any other healing addon would be a lot easier to use, use less space on the screen, and lead to faster reaction times. If it works for you great! But majority of players should not be using it unless they need to.
+Veroicone I will admit it takes up a lot of real estate, if in anything but an instance or 10 person BG.
I do wish the author would make it so that it could be a little more "boxier" for the larger bg's /raids ...etc

Also with Healium, you can't change which side of the frame the buttons are on, you're forced to have them on the right.
You can customize grid though, so you have the health bar going a different direction. So it looks more like healbot for example.

Think I'm gonna go with healbot for now. Lately the default frames have been bugging and doesn't let me click on a specific player. Your explanation of them all definately helped.
Is there a way to take off or disable the clique in Vuhdo?
Referring to the click to heal part of it? Just don't set any spells for it, although not sure why you would use vuhdo without it.

Liam Koller When you're in a party, the WoW frames have a little spot on the leftside of your screen. Pull that out, and you should be able to click hide or something similar to have it not show

Would you be able to make a video explaining how you made your UI look the way it does (so that VuhDo fits nicely inside that black box, and having the other boxes to the left and right? Nice vid btw! I love using VuhDo, but I notice I tend to only look at the addon and don't pay attention to the characters and what is happening around me.

What is the Action bar on the bottom? I use vuhdo and putting it in the mid point would be great. Currently I use the blizzard default action bars AND VUHDO which takes way to much space. Thanks.

It's not an addon :D It's built in. Go to Interface and floating combat text.
aw I've only now put Healium... I think you didn't give it much of a chance, for 5 mans it might be nice, and you can group stuff... What I'm liking so far - before trying it - is that I can use my spells directly on different targets without whipping my mouse all over the place....

Laura Streeter I didn't give it a chance because I don't think it's that great of an addon. Sure in 5 mans I am sure it's fine, but once you get beyond that many players it's too much screen space. I'd much rather heal with my mouse macros and keyboard than click everywhere. But if it works for you, it works for you :D
***** okay, now I've tried it, I did a few dungeons. It helped me a bit to heal, but blocked my view of just about everything else... What's more I usually use my left hand with spells 1-0 and my right on my mouse. I'm open to more options!
The part I DID like was not having to run around all over my raid frames with my mouse. By the way what was the cool UI in your video? :) I've seen some really nice ones in many videos that show spells cast, procs and stuff....
Laura Streeter The UI was my own custom one, was basically a mix of other addons (skinner, bartender, sexymap etc). Currently I am using a UI called SuperVillain which I love if you're looking for a new one (I recently posted a video on it).
Eh, you still have to move your mouse. I just find it much easier to not have the clutter (and have the fire blocked) and heal with my mouse directly through clicks on targets :D

+Veroicone i know this is old but how did you make that center panel placeholder for your raid frames. i use sunnart to get one that spans the whole screen like yours but my raid frames are taller and i want to make a panel like your center one that is taller than my sunnart one to hold my raid frame

Thank you for making an actually helpful video (so many really not helpful). I'm just starting first healer character as Mistweaver and giving Healbot a try. Added Vudoo to my Curse favs for later if I want to try something else.

Thank you for the great video. I have tried vuhdo and found it very overwhelming and not for me. I have a touch screen so I do not use a mouse. I am actually thinking that that last heal addon helium might be the best for touch screen healers.

havent played this in forever but what is that addon called where your action bars are sleek circles instead of the usual square boxes
+borin hang The addon is called "masque", the main bars were created using bartender.
I've healed from WOTLK to this day with VuhDo. And I love it. Easy basic setup and you'r good to go. I even use it as raidframes with other classes.
P.S. Nice clean UI btw

Yes, I actually used to play WoW on my mac :D! You can use curse client or install them in your interface folder.
Curse client! I was trying to use it last night actually but it says I had to have an account with them or something? Jeesh all this is overwhelming =(
katrashis You don't have to make an account if you don't want to, you do for the client but you don't just to download the addons and install them yourself.
Can you use Clique with Vuhdo?
You probably can, but vuhdo comes with clique built in so it's not needed :)

+Dilirio1992 IMO it's not a good healing addon for anyone, unless you have a specific reason for needing it. In larger groups it just overcrowds the screen.

Thanks for the great vid, it was really informative. Everyone groans when I tell them I use Healbot, so I've been thinking about trying Grid or Vuhdo. Good to know Grid doesn't have click to heal options without another addon, I really don't want to drop one to gain two. You cut my testing in half, lol..
p.s. I don't know if it happens on every one of your vids but your p's and s's were popping really bad for me (headphone user). I think my ears might be bleeding.
I started healing with healbot and although it's not a bad addon I am SO glad I made the switch :) I plan to make a video about setting up vuhdo as well!
And yes I know, it's something with my headset. I haven't changed any settings but I've been trying to pull the mic farther away from my face to lessen the sound :( As a headphone user I feel your pain and I am sorry!
***** No worries! I still watched it all the way through.. Pulling the mic away should work, or moving the mic so it's not right in front of your mouth, maybe just below. I love my headset, (( www.amazon.com/Logitech-Gaming-Headset-G330-Black/dp/B002I3OZB2 )). Never had any problems from it and it's super comfy.
I'll look for your video.. I'm trying to set it up now. The main thing I liked with healbot is the tool tip for when you hover over the buttons it reminds you what spell is what and the option to use the left button, control left button, shift left button, etc... Trying to figure out if vuhdo can do those or not.

I personally think the best dungeon healing addon by far is healium. If it goes over 10 man though it gets a bit too much on the screen.
Would disagree with you there, the amount of screen clutter it creates even in a 5man is what makes the addon subpar compared to others. The benefits you get even just from the default frames imo even outweigh what healium offers.
I just enjoy not having to target anyone lol. Lazy!

You mean the actual healing numbers that are in game? That is not an addon, that is part of WoW. Go to interface and Floating Combat Text and turn it on.
***** Yes I found it, but your text is over your head. In my case it sort of springs from underneath my character.
The Greeny Just set it to "arc" instead of scholl up. Option is under where you click on enable.

It's a different addon called Skinner
