Im late getting into your videos. Really enjoyed them. Just recently gone from T5 transporter back to a transit custom as ford have upped there game in the last few years. . I can't go full camper conversion as van needed for work . Having windows done and going to have a go at insulation /carpets . Might do some electric connection so we can use it as a day van and il be using your videos thanks 👍

Ah cool mate - thanks for checking out the video and the comment. Yeah I was nervous about the whole thing! Especially the electric side! But once I got going with it the principles are pretty straight forward.. the first time I powered it all on though was still a butt clench moment 💩 😀
As far as I’m aware of you ever sell the van you have to get an ‘NICEIC’ approved electrician to check/inspect the electrics like you have to on houses. Just to make you aware I remember hearing it on wheeler dealers, Ed china was doing a camper conversion
Hey Ellis - thanks for the note. I don’t think it’s a legal requirement to have it checked and then a certificate issued like with domestic. However, I would agree 100% to get it checked out by either a “professional” camper conversion company or certified domestic and or auto electrician. We did both 👍 My son has a level 3 diploma in automotive and also his tutors at college helped with advice on install and then checks also. I do think a formal certificate would be a good idea though to be honest? Not quite sure why they don’t? Would give piece of mind for buyers, sellers and convertors alike 👍

Thanks mate 👍 They came in flat pack form and just had to fix the panels together.. Yes was happy with the finish too and still look great in the van too.. so not a bad budget solution 😃

tidy carpet job. but u do know your van has smart alternator and u need use dc to dc charger and not a vsr relay. coz when your van is happy it runs at 12.4 volts until u let of gas or start braking. so not fully charge leisure battery.

Hi nige99 - Once it was converted we contacted our existing insurance company (Hastings) and let them know about the conversion and value etc. They amended the exiting policy. When it comes for renew will probably look for a specialist company.. 👍

Hey 👋 Thanks for the kind comment and checking out the videos! Glad they have been useful. I used a company called Lining Direct… I got 2m x 12m… This was more than enough.. The carpet I got was OK ✅ No issues - i do know the guys at Combe Valley Campers too and I know they supply some good stuff I believe. I would also say try and buy it all in one go from the same place as there can be variance in the colour in different batches 👍

We did also look at VW’s but at the time the Custom was a bit cheaper and we had a bit of a budget to work to 👍 The kitchen furniture was flat pack and just had to assemble. On the wiring… yes the same for me was my biggest worry initially… but I got a kit from Wired Campers and it was too difficult to pull tinted and all working fine 👍 we had it checked over after too to make sure. This was as I planned to install electrics in rear wardrobe and just have wires either running behind units. Well.. I had never done a conversion before this one so I had no experience. I was learning as I went but also did lots of research online from other channels etc.. I had done bits of car work before and other DIY things and like to think I am fairly “handy”. The main challenge I had really was confidence to give things a go!
