    So I'm also the guy in your 2018 video that climbed the massive hill (day 1) on foot and rode my friend's adventure bike down. It's my 1190 parked at the bottom of the hill by itself.

    Again third year in a row the absolute best LAB2V video. Thanks lowlypawn for taking the time and effort.

      I estimate I have 40 hours into editing this video. I started with 16 or more hours of footage. Takes forever just cutting all that up. I ended up with over 3 1/2 hours of stuff that may be interesting. Then I start cutting that down until I was at 2 hours which takes a long time. Then there is trying to fix all the bad audio from the radio causing the camera to record very low and one channel with mostly static. titles, pictures, clips at the end. It's surprising to even myself how long it takes. But comments like yours (and others) makes it worth it. Thanks for the nice comment.

    Dude you should keep a battery pack with you if you dont already have one. That was you can charge your devices in a pich . That way you dont have to worry about having to mess with connection's when you're in the middle of a race.

    TOTALLY LOVED IT!!! watched the whole thing. Hey I was right there with you last year - hard way both day. I was the guy talking to you in line at lunch with the 6 Days and the camera on my helmet. I kept watching to see how you did the riverbed before Red Rock. I did the whole riverbed and it beat the heck out of me. This year I'm taking my 1190R, but not doing the hard way (I'm 56). Thanks for posting that. Totally enjoyed watching it on the big screen and I could identify with every "Oh fu.."

      Hi: I am not familiar with roll-charts. However, after reading about it, do you think I can adapt a roll-chart for mountain biking LAB2V? I want to mountain bike from Barstow to Vegas and I don't have a good route. Do you think I can learn roll-charting and use roll charts in mountain biking from B to Vegas? Thx.

    I'd like to know more about your comms... looks like you're running Baofeng HT's but how are you plumbing them into your helmets? I have a ham license... it'd be awesome to use the radios I have and ditch the shitty Sena units.

    Dude! Finally! I've been waiting for this video since Thanksgiving weekend! I'm so bummed I broke my leg on my bike in October, now I'm selling it. Maybe one day I'll get back into it but for now I'll always get to watch your stuff!

    • @lowlypawn
      @lowlypawn  6 років тому

      Sorry to hear about your leg, how much are you getting for it? Hopefully enough to buy a prosthetic leg and a new bike :) Thanks for the nice comment.

      lowlypawn I’m asking 3500 for it. It’s a 2002 exc 300, short stroked to a 350 with a rekluse style clutch. Got some other stuff done to it as well. Hopefully I’ll get close to that for it. I’m gonna get a 2012 klr that I gave to my dad a while back. He doesn’t ride it and I can use it for a commuter bike.
      Anytime man. I love the terrain you ride and take videos in. I’ll just live vicariously through you for the time being!

    hi, just want to ask which are the mirrors your using? I like how you are able to tuck them in. also, the handguards, which ones are you using?

    • @lowlypawn

      HighwayDirtBikes ultimate hand guards. Correction the NextGen model, those include the mirrors I believe.

    very nice. I was entered in the Mint 400 in 1971, but my partner got injured and I never had the chance to ride it again. malcom smith won it on a husky. we had a montesa. I think it would be fun, if the easy route is really easy. 😀

    Nice video-- lousy looking ride... too much dust and traffic for me! Watched 1st 35 minutes. Lots of video editing work-- thanks for sharing! It probably would be a lot more fun and safer on any other weekend without all the chaos and mayhem from other riders' recklessness. Thanks Vegas Romaniac for sending me. I was never interested in doing this ride and this video confirms it. I'm glad some people have fun there.

    Congrats! I have been watching your LAB2V for the last couple of years and you're getting better and better. I was curious if you ever worry about running dirt tire pressures on the highway and having them overheat?

    • @lowlypawn
      @lowlypawn  6 років тому +2

      I run 0 PSI :) I've been running mousses for the last couple of years and love them. Changing the tires can be a serious pain in the ass but I have the $45 Goplus tire changer (with bead breaker) mounted on a stand, and that makes the job much easier. I've never had a mousse overheat on the highway or fast dirt roads even in the 120 degree Las Vegas heat. But I've heard they can especially on big bikes. But for 450s and smaller I think mousses are the way to go. So nice not having to worry about flat tires. I can usually reuse a mousse once or twice before it gets too destroyed. So it's really not that much more expensive then buying heavy tubes.

      I use Sony-ECMCS3 mic I dissembled going to a Sony Action cam. I run one channel to the speaker and the other channel to the microphone. I need to make an in depth video on my setup, hopefully I will soon. I'm currently editing LAB2V 2018 so check back in a week or so.

    I am really enjoying this video, how do you like the new tank and rekluse clutch?

    • @lowlypawn
      @lowlypawn  6 років тому

      Tank is OK, might be a little big for some stuff but it's nice not worrying about running out in other situations. So like everything on dirtbikes and life, it depends. As far as the rekluse, it's OK but when it wears out or I buy another bike I won't be buying another. I want to develop my clutch skill better and the Rekluse makes it too easy to be lazy. Also being able to turn the bike off and using the clutch as a parking brake on super steep downhills is nice.

    What radios are you guys using? and voice activated or pressel switch?

    • @lowlypawn
      @lowlypawn  6 років тому +1

      Rugged Radios RH5R with a push to talk button mounted on the bars. The radios are a pain to get working well. You really have to spend the time routing all the wires nicely and setting up the code elimination feature in the radios to avoid massive cross talk. BUT. Once you do get everything set up I'm happier with the radio setup then the Sena 20s I had. Thou the new Sena may be much better. The budget way to go to to buy the Baofeng UV-5R off Amazon for about 25 bucks. Also buy the Helmet/mic kit for about 10 bucks. It works reasonable well for around 35 bucks total investment.

      We are using rugged radios. But I have to warn you, they are not ideal. A serious pain in the ass to get all set up. But once setup they are pretty good.
