Honestly of all of the games during the NextFest demos, this one surprised me the most for how much fun it is. I think that despite it hard crashing a grand total of like 7 seven times, the fact that we came back and tried to replay the mission each time really shows how good this game is. The UI definitely needs work, but the actual gameplay feels so fresh and detailed for an RTS, I love it. The detail in the arsenal is incredible as well, with adjustments not just upping various stats but potentially changing the role of the vehicle altogether.

Im sure we can all agree that it is really awesome that there's a new RTS of this style, As always thanks for the videos Rimmy!
8:12 that looked like a proper osprey landing to me.- USMC
For anyone wondering i beat the demo and after the landing you have to secure and hold some points while beeing rushed by a lot of russian tucks and after a while they just surrender and thats all and for anynone who wants to beat the demo but has some bug issues the only bugs and issues i know of are:
-You can bring more people into the fight with one vechicle than it has seats when you order the vehicle first
-if you order a unit by foot or in a land vechicle during the invasion phase then they will disaper forever and lock you out of slots
-you can cheese the game by not capturing the hill but setting up first
-if get an AH-1z and hover on low altituide over the forest you can kill the rusian AA defence
-AH-1Z can shoot throug h itself up and hit parachuting paratroopers
-one of the russian fighter jets bugged out for me and was untargetable by planes (i brought it over the desroyer and its point defence desroyed it)
-T-72 are tanky as hell and smaws and AT-4 have problems dealing with them
-Abrams and LATV with bushmasters are dogshit and cant aim or pen almost anything
-AA has almost 100% accuracy rate
-The landing vechicles with MK19 are made out of paper
I hope this helps anyone
Rimmy never used the War Thunder menu and it shows. It has the best of both worlds! It both has different menus AND a "jump to section" function!

You know what it reminds me of? World in Conflict the Cold War went hot RTS by Massive Soft
Customizable units? This changes everything
The 2nd guys voice is 100% Jonah Hill 😂
Looks good... for what little that's worth. It's got a fairly good complement of equipment. Lacking in the logistics and support dept as always.
But there is one thing you're not looking for that makes or breaks every RTS above the squad level:
Does the AI have combat protocols, or are you meant to manually tell them to do EVERYTHING. If the AI have no sense of self preservation or initiative what so ever, then your going to spend more energy telling them HOW to do something, than you are actually planning and plotting your actions and reactions.
Every modern RTS in a patronizing attempt to be more "engaging" labotomizes it's unit AI in order to force the player into artificially inflated high stake situations, where your reaction time is more important than your actual strategy... That is obviously bad for a STRATEGY game. They take the "real time" element and put more emphasis on speed and skill than planning and strategy and it ruins what would otherwise be a fantastically well built game.
8:10 Well he did land 💀
The Csgo menu works like that
Did this guy ever played C&C zero hour? He comments on gameplay like its something very innovative, but its literally ZH campaign but on graphic steroids
this is gonna smoke wargame for sure. The Devs of Wargame have never really changed much and development has been slower than a snail. Limited workshop and no missions and campaign, even steel division is limited. I well ready for this one tho
Straight up got a COH3 ad on this video. How weirdly fitting.
I'm glad theres a new and good RTS. I hope there will be more RTSes like this.
Dude if it looks good I'll buy it.
The rts market is so unsaturated it hurts :(
There definitely will be.
With the rate game development tools are developing, it's becoming easier and easier for some pretty nice looking games to be made by smaller studios. With how many games are coming out, genres with a fairly small but dedicated fanbase like the RTS genre are a perfect target for studios looking to find players without too much in the way of marketing.
I'm personally hoping for more action-RTS' that come closer to the likes of Company of Heroes. The original was bloody amazing, especially the campaign, but I'm not as much of a fan of COH2 or 3. I'd buy anything that plays similarly.

It's great seeing more great RTS games out there. It's a very underappreciated genre. It's a great genre and needs so much more love. So it's great seeing Rimmy play an amazing RTS like this.
especially if it's a bit more realistic instead of arcade-y. Don't get me wrong, arcade-y RTS games could very well be fun but there's something about the feeling of carefully executing a plan and taking a city / destroying a base / having a 1-on-1 armored battle that just reminds me of Arma 3, like Rimmy said. Love it
Another one I wish got a bit more love was Cepheus Protocol. According to someone, they've been kind of downhill for the past 6 months or so, without much profits, or literally none at all. I kind of feel bad now when playing it, because even though it has quite a few bugs, it feels a bit hopeless, because those bugs might never be fixed.
*_"Get out in ten seconds, NOT TEN FUCKIN' MINUTES!"_* I also love the voice lines lol
"You can customize weapon load-" alright added to the wishlist
would ya like a ZSU 23 with iglas on your MTLB? YES
Broken Arrow is more like World in Conflict, but without "fire support" (for now) and in realism mode.
Edit: To clarify "fire support" = off map like it was in World in Conflict (except Mobile Arty units). My bad, should have written it like this.
My exact first thoughts too.
That is so what I was hoping to hear, World in Conflict was absolutely sick and it's a shame it has gone without a spiritual successor for so long
There is fire support as in planes and artillery but i do believe they should add like offmap artillery and air assets, so you can have like a MOAB, or A shitload of B-52s striking a target
World in Conflict but with the unit diversity of Wargame, and the ability to customize units like artillery and fixed-wing aircraft is essentially customizable fire support. Even includes a nuke.
God I love world in conflict so much and this looks really good I’m going to have to check this out
This reminds me a lot of World in Conflict... Just a LOT harder.
This mission in particular is pretty difficult.
though theres a little exploit where if you don't take the fort you can just clear the entire map of enemies.
Abit but this looks modern post cold war era

An amazing rts that is paradox or total war is also impossible

@Dick Izzinya the ships go sailing on land, the dlc factions are the strongest, the pathfinding is non existent, and diplomacy is horrendously broken. Finally, there's $200 in dlc containing features that used to be in their games. Yup, I can imagine it.
@@ElGreco15 nah, all the factions are there from the start, it's just that most only become a good option to play once DLC drops, you know, instead of just being complete suffering
Imma be honest whenever I used helicopter in the demo it usually went something like this: BRRRRRRRRRRTTT
*Igla noises*…..
*10 minute reinforcement timer*
Yea same, I was salty when Rimmy casually got away with shit that would end in instantly being swatted out of the sky for me
Dude as a marine this still is one of my favorite representations of our forces, especially as an infantryman. The voice lines are fucking wonderful lmao.
Despite the dialogue, most objectives were not time sensitive, so you could take your time clearing them, and it made the mission far more manageable that way. Especially if you focused on setting up prior to capping objectives. Also, in my playthrough i found that if i dropped my settings to low or potato, there'd be almost no crashes or freeze ups.
How bad are the graphics in potato
@@cristobalalvarez5491 Only noticeable if you're constantly zooming into units or are used to always playing stuff on 4K, ultra settings.

@@blitzkrieg8776 I mean Broken Arrow isn't offically out yet, so Warno still has some time to live. And also I find the AI in Warno to be much better.

This plays right into my World in Conflict: Soviet Assault nostalgia, it felt so much alike it that I half expected the general to call Rimmy "lieutenant Parker" throughout the video
Persisting through crashes only means the game is delivering an experience you want to consume at the moment. If you continue to persist long after then you can claim the game is just that good.
I originally posted a comment about how I hoped this could truly replace wargame but after only 5 minutes I have no doubts. this looks like it takes all the good QoL style changes from the steel division series without being too different or cluttered, keeps the fast paced hard-hitting "realistic"-style damage system, and builds on the deckbuilding system by adding all the customization, essentially doing everything warno SHOULD have done. cannot wait for this to finish cooking.
EDIT 2024: Looks like they beefed up the HP on Certain unit types. Disappointing, but I still prefer it to everything Eugen has made. And that’s saying something.
"Realistic" is a bit of a stretch, especially with their AI which seems kind of simple when compared to Steel Division and Warno AI.
@@MistikCo that’s why it’s in quotes and also specifically talking about the damage model
The biggest thing I am worried about is micro management. I Like WARNOs new system where you can make large groups have vague orders like to hold or seize positions.
If this game can allow delegating than I agree this game could definitely beat wargame. However, if we have to micro between air forces, aa, tanks, infantry, and so on, then its just another clone.
Imo, I feel a lot of rts games like this fail without that ability to delegate because then as a player you have to quickly switch between general and platoon level decisions which gets old quick.
I'm sorry, but Warno's still a better game than this, and better looking.
Imagine if the developers had the Warhammer 40k or Horus Heresy licence.
As a SupCom: FA player, I was suprised/amused by the gushing over the transport system.
(Supreme Commander: Forged Alliance transports had a certain number of "attachment points" per transport, and each one could hold one normal-sized unit, or one big unit across multiple. And the units themselves were literally attached to the transport - incoming fire could hit them, and certain unit types could even fire at targets while being transported, creating what the community refers to as "ghetto gunships".)
The best part is with all this customisation there will be a point where custom skins/sound mods are going to be made for the workshop.
in Broken Arrow, the Russian Military is at full strength and poses a threat to NATO.
This is a clear indicator that the game is fictional.
It's a full scale war and they haven't wiped each other off with nuclear weapons. That's absurd.
It's like a warno and world in conflict hybrid because when u loose units after some time u get more in reserve and I love it so much
Broken Arrow's demo mission's 2nd stage is very difficult, along with the restart mission replaying the intro every damn time being annoying as hell when you crash, lose or otherwise restart.
Interesting how Russian units are written through transliteration instead of translation, like "Morskaya Pekhota" instead of "Marines"
It’s just to make the us and the Russian troops more different
The AI in this game do a better job at tactics and strategies than russian high command
No modern combat game can ever be called realistic again, because if it was truly realistic nobody who wanted to win would ever play russia.
@@brilobox2 or the US for that matter, bcz Afghanistan and stuff. Factions like Australia, China, Brazil - for the win!
@@vitorossi7839 Another simple minded fuck that doesnt understand the difference between military and political defeats. The last two years in Afghanistan the Taliban were too scared to come out of their caves that there hadn’t been a single US casualty for those two years. Yeah they sure showed the US lmao.
US pulled out because the Afghan National Guard were more interested in shooting up heroine than fighting for their country and we werent going to carry them anymore.
Idk what shit country you’re from, but if you actually believe any country on Earth including China wouldnt get the absolute shit destroyed out of them trying to fight the US military rn then you’re truly an ignorant peasant.
@@jaydenshepard7928 Firstly, i love how you instantly go for personal insults. Shows your level of confidence (or, to be specific, lack thereof) in your position.
The fact is - the US did was not able to achieve its goals, both military (exterminate Taliban) and political (nation building stuff). Also, the US has not fought anyone in conventional war since the Gulf war, but it was not really "only the US", since there was 35 countries in the coalition. You can coat your "we did not loose in Afghanistan" however you want for the sake of patriotism and/or sanity. Does not change the fact the US did not achieve their military goals.
As per your bs regarding "if anybody tried to fight the US" - its the US who wants to fight anybody, not the other way around. IIRC China has never stated they wanted to attack anybody ever. And im not sure if the US has the capability to win a conventional offensive war against China. Not now, and surely not further into the future. Defensive - sure, due to difference in naval power. Plus any proper aggression of the US towards China, in my opinion, will lead to nuclear fallout. And you might be as arrogant and stupid as you want - the US wouldn't survive a nuclear war.
@@vitorossi7839 You’ve already demonstrated your ignorance by actually believing any major country would launch nukes, this isnt the cold war you simpleton. MAD is absolute, every country knows this. Their chances of survival in a guerrilla war after being utterly conquered are far greater than their chances of winning a nuclear war, since that chance is zero lol.
There is no permanently defeating group x, or group Y in an unconventional war. No country on Earth can accomplish that because its not how that works. Not without turning the entire region into ash. No other country on Earth could have accomplished it so why even bring it up? The Taliban were hiding in caves not doing jack shit to accomplish their only goals because they literally couldnt, as even wandering outside meant getting tracked by a drone and then their little cave getting collapsed by a MOAB or bunker buster and all their dwindling amounts of friends dying. Thats not winning anything, that’s being all but defeated. If the entire Russian army went deep underground and stopped fighting their invaders and let the entire surface country be occupied without resistance did they not lose? They sure as hell arent doing enough to be a contender to winning lol.
The USs goal was not to have some fantastical permanent destruction of the Taliban, it was to crush them enough that the ANA could be built up enough to contain them, but this wasnt possible because the ANA and Afghan people as a whole have no sense of nationalism whatsoever, and no desire to fight for a better life. Tell me how it was possible to change an entire culture of 100s of years within 20? Got another nation lined up that you somehow genuinely think woulda magically accomplished that kind of shift? Nah? Sit down then. We knew theyd fall immediately but we were done doing literally everything for them so they could have an actually non shit country for once in their entire history as a people.
Iraq in comparison is actually doing quite well and is only growing more stable and developing economically and socially even despite how hard they were hit by ISIS…but I guess you’ll just ignore that one because US success in the middle east cant exist in the minds of you ignorant coping machines. I get it, your country is weak and irrelevant. Sucks to suck, but dont waste your breath trying to do mental gymnastics in an effort to make the ridiculous case that the most powerful nation state and empire that has ever existed in the history of man is somehow weak lol…
The US finally deciding Afghanistan is a hopeless country not worth investing in and leaving is not a military defeat lmao. Hell its hardly even a defeat at all. The Taliban hid in the deepest depths they could find and essentially stopped playing, then the US stopped playing which it planned to do since 2015 but had just put off another 5 years.
Then the Taliban came out after the US was gone. They didn’t even attack the US when they had the chance either because they knew theyd be torn to pieces. Nah only some ISIS remnants had the balls to do that.
If you think the US couldnt win an offensive war against the completely worthless paper tiger that is the PLA then you’re yet again demonstrating your extreme ignorance. The damn Russian army had far more actual combat experience than the PLA, but not nearly enough and they demonstrated what happens when you just build a big army in size without the amount of resources the US has to pump into its military and all their training and logistics. Larger armies always end up equaling lower quality soldiers, and drastically less cohesion and organization than smaller ones. The PLA is a giant bloated mess just like everything else about that shitty country, and it has essentially ZERO combat experience of any kind whatsoever. China hasn’t fought anyone even an insurgency since the Korean war lmao. The US in comparison is filled with veterans all over its ranks with real world combat experience, and even more in its reserves. Before the war in Ukraine the US military had the most real world combat experience in its ranks than any nation on Earth, other than smaller countries in shitty regions of the world that are constantly at war.
Not to mention the tech gap is absurd. The kill rates of modern weapons make human wave tactics entirely obsolete. The US also gets closer and closer to automating its military kill assets every year which makes numbers even more irrelevant.
I love that you have the gall to try and poke at me like im coping or am insecure, nah lmao that would be you and all your ilk that have to cling to any idea that lets them try and ignore that the US’s power eclipses any other nation on Earth, and any direct military conflict would result in the annihilation of any other nation or group of nations on Earth. Hell the moment China actually somehow manages to hold off the US enough to hurt or threaten them even a bit the US would just need to take the post WW2 gloves off and bomb all their cities to the ground and that’d be it. Wouldnt matter if China had a population of 5 billion, theyd be snuffed out. Cant fight if you don’t even have a population lmao.
i knew i was gonna love this game when i dissembarked my marines and heard one of my guys yell out "I SAID GET OUT IN 10 SECONDS NOT 10 FUCKING MINUTES", the voice lines in warno cant even compete with this at all

The fact the T-72 didn't turn into Sputnik and circle the moon tells me there's realism issues

Hearing Rimmy gush brings a smile to my face :)
I've been following and supporting the devs since back in late 2019, when they started their Boomstarter (Russian Kickstarter) fundraiser. It's been great being able to talk with devs that care about our inputs for the game during its development. I'm confident that BA will do great, and I hope BA will be Balalaika Studio's first of many great games!

Yeah checkpoint or save system is needed.
Would help making the game less difficult.
The showcase of the vehicle customization made me think of a concept.
Imagine this kind of game but it's set in the Warhammer 40,000 universe.
probably someone will eventually mod it in
Was anyone else hearing the C&C Renegade theme when seeing all those hovercraft?
A game like this will eventually need Halo and Clone Wars mods
I'm still scratching my head over why they included Dragons as an American anti-tank option, considering we destroyed the last of them in 2009 IIRC. I suppose Javelins would be OP in the early game but that's still a weird choice.
my prodection is maybe as cheap units and the javelin as more expensive unit
I love seeing the Osprey get some love in this game.
All we need in the guardian system to be added to it.
The custom campaigns and missions are really gonna make this game last a loooong time. I'm waiting for some autist to make a 30 mission campaign detailing the destruction of the 3rd Guards Army in this fictional war.
The voice acting in this game seems amazing. I absolutely love how it doesn't just have different lines for different situations but they're also read with really fitting tone (like the marines at 5:00 sounding panicked)
More phantom brigade
Good job Rimmy on jinxing your buddy. Hahaha. But in all seriousness this game looks fun, never played Wargame but I do like how the game is set up, cause it requires more active participation in actions and management so you don't just tell your units to do that, wait awhile, then tell them to do this, you are always doing something. the seats system is good and the use of equipment seems to matter a lot and you have to be careful with the equipment otherwise you'll lose it easily, and the fact the SPG can take out units at point-blank range just makes them much more dangerous to attack directly, the customization of armament for units seems good though I think you'd have to be careful with what you put on them as it can raise the resource requirement of that unit making each expensive unit needing to be taken care of otherwise you'd look like a idiot when it gets destroyed easily. I may take a look into this game more.

T-72 in ukraine: russian turret space program
Still better than the "disposable mine clearing vehicle shaped like a tank for some reason" a.k.a. Leopard 2, tho.
@@PPWRUP russia has lost AT LEAST 1,349 T-72 variants. Ukraine lost at least 28 leopard 2's, out of roughly 75. Even thought looks bad on the surface, that's 48 T-72s lost per Leopard 2. Suck a cactus.
@@justaguy723 yeah, sure, except that:
1. The number of 72s lost (if it's even true) is not that high considering the intensity of fighting - it's roughly 2 tanks/day (not to mention it not being uncommon for "lost" tanks to be recovered from the field later and repaired).
2. T-72 has never been presented as some sort of wunderwaffe. Leopard 2, on the other hand, has been advertised precisely as such. T-72 does the job. Leopard 2 - well, you'd think a modern tank should have actual protection everywhere, not just at the front (rear and sides, both of the turret and of the main body, can literally be pierced with shrapnel, autocannon rounds and even HMG rounds, nvm rockets and ATGMs (even the old gen ones)). T-72 being lost is tragic, yet not unexpected. Leopards 2 achieving literally zero results except for somewhat clearing the outer layer of RUAF mine fields is humiliating.
3. The only reason ukies have not lost all the 70+ they were sent (as well as the crews with which most of them came) is because their Western "partners" have once again forbidden AFU to use them.
