Lu Bu after spilled his blood of 3/4 of the arena with 10% of his life remaining because he got his ass trashed by an half naked guy and after literally never hit him a single time: "You have my interest now !"
Pro tip, ditch the ai reinforcements. It makes it so much harder to counter his attacks when you don't know who he's targeting. Tough fight but very satisfying once you get it down.
Just a tip for those who are struggling a bit, when he flames up and you miss the grapple, just shoot an icicle at him to kill the flames on his Lance.
Man if you learn the combat, and learn a boss/enemy, you can pretty much deflect every one of their attacks, then use the spirit you gain from their attacks to absolutely destroy them. When you get good you feel like a funking badass playing it.
And that, gentlemen. How you accomplished life. Beating arguably the best halberd wielder in the history of mankind without dripping a single drop of your own blood. Gods and souls of the great ones are proud of you.
Almost finished with the game myself and so far this is probably the only boss fight I actually struggled with. After I beat him I saw people mention how blocking him is generally a better idea than parrying. Odd how this seems to be the only boss that mixes the combat up this much.
This was a great fight. Closest thing to sekiro I’ve had ever, but still not better. I loved killing him solo and learning all his moves. Took like 10 tries, but recommend this fight without help, it’s easier
I'm glad its not trying to be entirely Sekiro. I love how all the different weapons feel amazing to use, and trying different weapon skills and spells are fun. The balancing is just weird since it wildly fluctuates based on morale rank and whether you're upgrading gear.
u're hands down the most skilled player i've ever seen! i was getting my shit kicked in by this guy and convinced myself that it was impossible to beat him! then i thought to myself " i bet Ongbal has a no damage video on this boss, so i know it's not impossible to beat him" then i kept trying and trying until i nailed his ass.
All the comments taking about gyoubu when Lu Bu and Red Hare have been around in this design for decades is hilarious to me. Well done as usual Ongbal, astounding skill.
It's because Gyoubu's boss fight is mounted like this starts off as. The twist is Lu Bu mounts and dismounts. I always thought Gyoubu was going to be like a two phase like the King of the Storm/Nameless King, was surprised he was only one phase.
this was amazing boss fight Was waiting for you to do this one Also for anyone who wants to fight all bosses solo without Ai on your team go to inventory and use Willow Branch
My strategy for this fight. Get fortification to 20, do this by getting every flag around the level. Second, He has a massive health pool so no matter your damage he will take multiple staggers to kill. To remedy this, aim to only use staggering attacks to break his poise (or spirit). These typically take longer to do so it is key to only do them after certain attacks. Make sure to also attempt to parry every unblockable, that will destroy his poise. He has very obvious tells for his unblockables, the consistent danger is his normal moves. You can defeat them by parrying or blocking. Since the safe strat requires you to not attack constantly, you can spend some of your spirit blocking his attacks rather than hitting him with a draining move. Midway through he will gain extensions to his unblockables. Learn the health where he starts these (roughly 33 percent) and then be more patient after the first counter. Generally, follow up with each unblockable counter with a stagger attack.
As I just did him lvl 1 no damage myself I can also say: - Choose well which direction you go. You need space to get distance to him but you have to be careful with the horse as well. Either circle in middle or move like a square at the edges to be save. - Sometimes he will very quickly to his fire jump in the air red attack after normal sword swings. You risk to get damage there, you can actually try to press circle at right moment when he is about to jump so the fire won't hurt you but its risky. So try staying away from him is recommended. Just 1 or 2 steps back sometimes when he was pretty near is enough. - When he has half life never attack after you countered a red attack as he will most likely do another right after - his weapons can get a fire buff sometimes that's pretty risky taking damage. To avoid this buff make sure you counter all his fire based red attacks
The weapons have up to two martial arts and it doesn't matter what level you are. Something that sekiro missed is only allowing you to do one skill. They should have let you do uo to 2 at least.
@@elkmeatenjoyer3409 Yeah that's my biggest gripe with Sekiro's combat, it was having all those sick martial arts and shinobi moves and only being able to use 1 at a time with no changing mid-battle. The Wo Long Martial arts are a great system, would love to see them if From ever get around to making Sekiro 2.

good to see Ongbal bullying these new bosses in this new game. FromSoftware bosses will finally take a vacation for about a couple of months before Ongbal torments them again.
The weapon Lu Bu use is called 方天戟(Fang Tian Ji), a kind of spear with one crescent shape blade each side. In fact, according to historian 方天戟 was used after 隋唐(Sui and Tang Dynasties) not 魏晉(Wei Jin)(Lu Bu was born in this dynasty and its late then Sui and Tang). Because in "Romance of the Three Kingdoms", which is the official history, Lu Bu was using only common spear. However in "Three Kingdoms", which is historical adaptation novel, author want some dramatic things happen thats why Lu Bu is using 方天戟.
that's cus level 1 doesn't matter because they seem to have made it all about the morale rank - as long as that's high enough, your level seemingly doesn't matter.
