Sekiro-like games would far surpass the Soulslike genre, as much as I like it. Sekiro is literally a perfect game on all fronts (gameplay, graphics, music, story) to me.
No, getting cremated and the boss making a comeback just for getting the parrying timing wrong is just annoying. A lot of times I don't even know how I pulled off the parrying.
@@Mooncherry520 To the game's credit, this fight is right after Guandu, so he should only be around 19 years old or so, ignoring that we saw him in the beginning of the game looking like this at the start of the Yellow Turban Rebellion, when he would just be around 3 or 4 years old, lol. Koei and Team Ninja both have always taken liberties with ages and character's births and such so it's not that big a surprise or deal.

That was very clean fight. Also it seems fireball attacks do not trigger if you get close to him? Just beat this guy 2 days ago as well but with many deaths. Now completing side missions before NG+.
@@mickeycee8559 It's a highly satisfying mechanic, but it is essentially analogous to a fusion of Nioh 2's Perfect blocks + shift counters. The fist weapons have a parry attack very similar to this too.
@@mickeycee8559 Highly recommend you try the fists and/or tonfa if you do. They're so much fun and the fists/claws especially might be the best weapon type in any of these games ever. I really hope they make a comeback in Wolong DLC, though of course they won't be the same given the simplified combat. Maybe some of the fist martial arts could be callbacks?

Timing to use martial arts is so tricky in this game, when i was newbie i prefer using spirit attack only. Still the deflect thing is easier compared to sekiro.
Timing is a little tighter and often earlier than it looks, but you don't really have to parry the non red attacks (you can just block and it does very little posture damage anyway even if you parry).
